  • Class javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext compilation error

    During Rebuild/compilation of the JSP files inside JDeveloper, I am encountering the compilation error "Error(548,78): method handlepageException (java.lang.Throwable) not found in class javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext. When I developed the same application under IBM WSAD, I included the library com.ibm.servlet.jar and will take care of it. Which Oracle Jdeveloper lib I need to include? Since it is a servlet library error, I tried to include the Oracle "Servlet APIC Classes" but it didn't fix the problem. Thanks in advance!

    hmmm... i had a look and it seems that what you are trying to "import" is actually in a package... instead of import try:
    package javax.servlet.jsp;you may need to go download this "package" and complile it in the directory you are working in.
    my advice: try the above statement (which does compile for me), if it doesn't work, you will need to find the source code for this package and compile it just like you do any other source code.
    hope this helps.

  • Error in compiling: file javax\servlet\jsp\PageContext.class not found

    Hi,
    i'm getting an error when I'm trying to compile an java file. The error is as follows:
    cannot access javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext
    file javax\servlet\jsp\PageContext.class not found
    Isn't the javax package included in jdk? I've installed jdk 1.3.1_03 and j2re1.4.0_02. Shouldn't this PageContext.class be automatically loaded when i've installed jdk?
    I'm getting desperated! I've tried almost everything: i've changed the classpath, moved the directory of the java file I'm trying to compile over and over but i'm getting no success!
    Any help is very welcome!
    Thankx,
    Nuno.

  • Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext:

              I Have exactly the same error and I would like to have a solution.....
              It happens when weblogic tries to compile a jsp page.
              So the result on the browser is the original jsp page: The jsp tags are not parsed.
              This problem exists on my Weblogic 4.5.1 sp11 (on unix) nut not on my weblogic 4.5.2 NT ?
              Any idea ?

  • Deployment error - Missing class: javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config

    Hi,
    We are using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4(SU5) on windows for development of ADF application. We need to deploy the developed application onto Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) which is running on Solaris. We are using BC4J, WAR and EAR deployment profiles in jdeveloper to create the .war and .ear files.
    If I deploy the generated ear on a standalone OC4J server install on my windows PC, it works fine.
    Now when I deploy the generated .ear file onto the Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 through Application Server Control interface and then try to access the jspx pages under our application we are getting following error:
    oracle.classloader.util.AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundError:      Missing class: javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config     Dependent class: com.sun.faces.application.ViewHandlerImpl     Loader: accaweb.web.accaweb:0.0.0     Code-Source: /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/lib/jsf-impl.jar     Configuration: WEB-INF/lib/ directory in /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/libThe missing class is available from the following locations:     1. Code-Source: /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar (from WEB-INF/lib/ directory in /oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib)      This code-source is available in loader default.web.defaultWebApp:0.0.0.      at oracle.classloader.PolicyClassLoader.handleClassNotFound (PolicyClassLoader.java:2051) [oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/lib/pcl.jar (from system property java.class.path), by sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1482257]
    I have confirmed that the .war file inside the .ear file does contain the jstl.jar file under WEB-INF/lib folder. And the jar file does contain the class 'javax.servlet.jsp.jstl.core.Config'
    As a workaround, I found that if I copy the jstl.jar file from default-web-app to my application web-inf/lib folder, things start to work fine. ie copy from: '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar'
    to: '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/applications/accaweb/accaweb/WEB-INF/lib/'
    – or –
    Another workaround is to add the '/oracle/app/oracle/product/10gas3/j2ee/home/default-web-app/WEB-INF/lib/jstl.jar' file in the classpath for my web application through Application Server Control setting page.
    Now both of these workaround needs us to perform additional post deployment steps which should really not be required since the jar files is included in the project.
    Has anyone faced this issue? Any pointers in this respect will be a great help.
    regards - rutwik

    Surprise Surprise !
    I just tried deploying the file via uploading it from the Application Server Control UI and it worked fine.
    Till now, I was ftp'ing the ear file from my PC to the server on which Oracle AS is running and was telling Application Server Control to pick form that uploaded location.
    I am still not clear on why it works with HTTP upload and not via the FTP upload?
    cheers - rutwik

  • Javax.servlet.jsp.el.ELException: Attempt to coerce a value of type

    I've written a web service to retrieve informations from the database based on a client's criteria. The service endpoint is the following:
    public WSMissionBean getProfiles( WSMissionBean mission, WSProfileBean profile ) throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    The WSMissionBean object is as follows:
    public class WSMissionBean implements Serializable {
    private WSProfileBean[] lstProfile;
    private WSProfileBean[] lstProfileMoinsQualifie;
    private WSProfileBean[] lstProfileByPoste;
    private WSProfileBean[] lstProfileByCompetences;
    And WSProfileBean is an object containing just simple data types. The whole idea is to have an object which, besides the criteria entered by a client, holds differents arrays, each of which answers a certain number of criteria required by the client.
    The service is deployed correctly, and I can access it, from a stand alone simple program, to retrieve data from the database as expected. The big problem is when I try to show the results in a JSP page! And the error message is:
    javax.servlet.jsp.el.ELException: Attempt to coerce a value of type "[Lclient.WSProfileBean;" to type "java.lang.reflect.Array"
    My JSP pages are as follows:
    <table border=0 cellspacing=1 cellpadding=3>
       <%-- sessionScope.mission.profiles contain data return by the web service, and gr:listRenderer is a tag file to show the result--%>
       <gr:listRenderer list="${sessionScope.mission.profiles}" />
    </table>
    And in the tag file, I have
    <%@ attribute name="list" required="true" type="java.lang.reflect.Array" %>
    <c:forEach var="profile" begin="0" items="${list}">
         <tr>
         <c:set var="profileId" value="${profile.id}" />

         </tr>
    </c:forEach>
    I've been searching desperately for days on the web for an answer, but to no result! I appreciate if someone can give me some advice, explanation... Thanks in advance
    Van Binh

    java.lang.reflect.Array is NOT a class which represents an array.
    It is a class that provides several static methods for using on arrays.
    The type of your attribute should be Object[] - an array of Objects.
    That will be compatible with an array of any sort of object (but not with an int[] for instance)
    <%@ attribute name="list" required="true" type="java.lang.Object[]" %>

    Hi!
    Can you tell us what version of JDeveloper you are using, and what steps you took to create the JSF page? Like, write from scratch or use the JSF page wizard?
    Also, can you check your project properties, and check that the JSF libraries are included, and JSF tag libraries set up?

  • Error [javax.servlet.jsp.JspException

    Hi all,
    I am having problems integrating j2ee web apps into the portal.
    Here's the step I've done:
    1. Creating an application that needs log in, and then does some transactions based on user actions/what user needs.
    2. Tested on local machine using Apache Tomcat 4.1 and works perfect!
    3. Created WAR whether directly from build result (using NWDS) and creating WAR from using deploytool.
    4. Created EAR file and then deploy it to the portal. All steps are done without error.
    5. Tried to open http://localhost:50000/
    <ear_name>
    It gives me the following error:
    Application error occurred during request processing.
      Details:

    I need your help to find what's wrong...any suggestions are welcome. Let me know if you need any further details of the apps.
    TIA.
    Charles A.

    Hi Harini,
    Thnx for your reply.
    I've deployed a J2EE apps before and it was using struts as well. But the difference is it was already build by other person and it worked well.
    This time I get the "opportunity" to build it. Apparently something isn't right, dunno whether it's in the code or something but it can't even open the login page when it was deployed on the portal. I've tried to "match" everything up with the previous apps but still no result.
    I must add that everything works perfect in local machine.
    Still hoping this isn't a terrifically extremely stupid mistakes...
    Still open to any help & suggestions.
    Regards..

  • Having problems compiling *.java with import javax.servlet.jsp......

    I've been trying to do the tutorials in a book titled Apache Jakarta-Tomcat as part of my introduction to JSP. I'm new to Java but do know the basics. I have on my machine Java 1.3, Java 1.4, Java FrameWorks 2.1 and Jython 2.1 on Win2000 Pro. So enough about my configuration. I have never worked with packages also.
    I downloaded the files from the books site due to the fact I make a lot of typos when hand coding Java (I've become a pretty good debugger of my own code). But everytime I go to compile the *.java I get error messages. So below you will find HelloTag.java and beneath that the error messages that are thrown when I try and compile it. I tested other bits of *.java and have had no problem compiling them. Is there a JSP module I'm missing?
    Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something from my configuration.

    Well, it looks like you've not got the servlet development kit JAR on your classpath. I think it'll probably be called servlet.jar on your system. Add that to the classpath if it's not already there.
    Incidentally, you've bumped into one of the areas Java's slightly lenient - declaring a method that looks like a constructor:
    public HelloTag() { }
    public void HelloTag() { }The first is a constructor, the second is a normal method. I'm assuming you intended to have the former instead of the latter.
    Anyway, hope this helps.
