Error msg when installing Oracle on RH LINUX

Hi,
You not need to install a jre environment first. Oracle takes his own.
The message means : I cannot find the developpment environment.
Have you installed the "compat-libstdc" package ?
I suppose it is not. You need it and some other too.
Have you read the document http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml ?

Got an error when install oracle 9i in linux 9 in windows virtual server
Hi Guys,
I am installing an oracle 9i in my laptop that is linux 9 server which is hosted in windows virtual server. when I ran runInstaller, I got an eror that is can't connect x11 windows server using........ When I ran xterm, I got can't open dispaly. xhost + also dosn't work. Is that ok that I can install oracle in a linux that is installed in windows virtual server? What value can I set to DISPLAY value?
Thank in advance.Linux 9? You mean the one that was end-of-lifed in 2004? (Just checking ...)
If yes, you gotta decide whether it's the 'Linux 9 Boxed Version' or the 'Linux 9 Download Version'. The two have completely different compiler and glibc packages that are incompatible. Fix that incompatibility - relative to Oracle's needs - and you will be able to make Oracle9i limp along. -

anyone can help me
TKSKhalid,
This combination is strongly not recommended. Oracle 8.0.5 was built with GNU Lib C 2.0, which is 2 generations ago. It will not work once installed and I do not know if the old glibc compatibility libraries would be available.
I would encourage you to use Oracle 8i (8.1.7.0.1) or wait a few days for Oracle 9i.

Compilation Errors "skipp incompatible" installing oracle 10g on linux 64z9
Hello Friends,
I have errors while installing Oracle 10g 10.2.0 for z9 Systems on a IBM Z/OS System with a SLES 10 Linux for z9 (64bit System).
The Problem:
Some programs of oracle cause errors while compiling libraries.
The Error:

Questions:
1) LD_LIBRARY_PATH doesn´t change any behavior of oracle - means the lib-path used stays on the 64bit directory. WHY?
2) All necessary packages are installed (checked with Oracle Admin Docu!). All other devel and lib and compile and stuff packages are installed as 64 and 32 bit version. OK Nearly every f*#(#*_ package which has something to do with compilation and make processes is installed. COULD SOMETHING BE STILL MISSING?
3) What do I have to change to get compilation with 32bit?
4) Is it reasonable to compile with 32bit ? I think it isn´t.
4) This is a S390 System so are there any special libs or patches to install for Oracle?
5) Where are the 64bit libs for oracle ??????? (See below)
What I found out:
The libraries in $ORACLE_HOME/lib and ../lib32 are both 32 bit .... ????? WHY? Not wondering its incompatible.

Error message when installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP Professional
Hello,
I need help installing oracle 10g database. When I attempt to run the installation from the setup.exe icon, I get a message that says
"Error in writing to directory C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\OraInstall2007-04-29_01-19-29PM. Please ensure this directory is writable and has atleast 45Mb of disk space. Installation cannot continue."
When I try to open the installation from the Autorun icon, it points to an innability to find setup.exe and when I go back to Setup.exe, it gives me the above error. Everytime I try to run the installation and it fails, the installation leaves a folder in my Temp folder with the above format. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.I do have administrative privilege on my computer and I have plenty of space. I have 80gb of free space. What do I do to successfully install the software without incurring those messages I displayed in my first thread?

Plz help me: Error msg when installing SAP netweaver
Hello,
I am trying to install NetWeaver on my local system. I am not able to proceed further to install SAP NetWeaver 2004's.
When ever I am running SAPinst.exe file I am getting a prompt that says "Network input/output exception has occurred: Connection reset java.net.SocketException: Connection reset" and then it will ask for host and port number. I entered the local host name and port number as 21212. then I am getting a msg saying "Could not connect to host [HOST NAME] on port 21212. java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"
I installed all required JAVA components like Java Runtime Environment, Java SDK and JAVA JDK. I verified all environmental variables. I created a new connection with MS loopback adaptor. I disabled all other network cards available on my system. I entered required info in HOST file and SYSTEM file in %windows/system32/drivers/etc% folder.
After trying 2 - 3 times I tried to change the port number as mentioned in installation guide also ( using sapinst.exe SAPINST_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_sapinst_gui_to_gui_server> GUISERVER_DIALOG_PORT=<free_port_number_gui_server_to_sapinst_gui> command in command line) . But no Luck.
Can any one help me, what else shall I do to proceed further. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Farooq. There is an option when starting the sapinst program to avoid starting up an installation GUI and instead wait for a connection from a remote installation console. I believe it is:
./sapinst -nogui (or something very similar, check the installation guide)
The server will now wait for a response from your terminal. Use the remote installation program and enter the port number of the server. If you just run the sapinst program without the nogui flag you may run into some issues. And make sure your versions match up. I have run into an issue before where I didn't realize I was using a verion of the remote installation program that didn't match up with sapinst server program.

Error Msg when installing Office for Mac 2008 on New Mac Book Pro
Why Am I getting the message "Classic environment no longer supported" when I try to install Office for Mac 2008 install on a Late 2011 Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2
Here is a screen shot:And for what it's worth, my choice would be (and is) LibreOffice, which I've used for about a year with nearly complete satisfaction. Last time I tried it three or four years ago, OpenOffice had the ugly, unrefined appearance of a Windows application; it had no Mac interface at all. That might actually be comforting to someone coming to the Mac from Windows, but as a 27-year Mac user, I hated it. I don't know whether OO has gotten a facelift in the intervening years.
The intermediate step between OO and LO was NeoOffice, which I used for several years. It was OpenOffice with a Mac face, and I liked it well enough. LibreOffice is its further evolution, more compatible with the latest MS Office files. -
ERROR MSG WHEN INSTALLING PHOTO CS3
I've downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CS3 but it wont install i keep getting error 1327 invalid drive E:/???? I dont even have a drive E/ I have a drive C:/ for my HD and a drive D:/ for CD's etc.. its doin my head in coz it took like 5hrs to download the trial version and it wont even work.. seems like a waste of time.. please any help would be great
If you do a Google search for "error 1327" you will get many, many hits; and a couple of those are from Microsoft and involve editing registry.
But, before you follow any of those try these first:
Is your Operating System up-to-date? e.g XP SP2, with all latest updates?
Did you ever have an E: drive, for example a USB memory stick? If you did, then plug it in again and try re-installing.
(and if neither of above solve your problem then it appears that the most likely solution is to look at your registry with regedit and make sure that the following key does not contain any references to drive E:
My_Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\W indows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell_Folders -

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:

The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

Help!I have done some oracle installations over RedHat 7.0 (not certificated):
Let's check some things:
1- You must have changed very few parameters on your shm.h sem.h files which are in /usr/include/linux directory.
2- You need to upgrade the glibc and libstdc libraries (.rpm)
3- You must have installed the jre116_v5 on /usr/jre and made a symbolic link like this
ln -s /usr/jre/jre116_v5 /usr/local/jre
4- You must include in the CLASSPATH parameter the jre116_v5 directory. It should look something like this
CLASSPATH=/usr/jre/jre116_v5:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib
5- Be sure to create and export all the parameters in your .bash_profile.
6- Run the ./runInstaller.sh in a terminal window inside the Xwindow.
You can find the jre116_v5 in www.backdown.org
I hope these tips help you

Hi there!
The first thing you should do if you get ANY (almost) error when
installing Oracle Server in RedHat Linux v6,0 is to read this
document carefully: http://jordan.fortwayne.com/oracle/
After hours of struggle it finally worked for me :-)))))
Only two things to add here:
1) If you want to be able to connect to the Linux server
(telnet) and running utilities like sqlplus locally on the
server, you should copy the ".profile" file to the users home
directory, add the user to the group "dba" AND make sure that
the $ORACLE_HOME directory has execute permissions for members
of the "dba" group (mine had default ONLY permission for the
owner to execute).
2) The file "listener.ora" was (for some reason) written
with "oracle_sid" where it really should say the real SID name
that is in my case "ORCL".
I just can't thank the guy who wrote the step-by-step
Installation guide for Oracle on RedHat Linux enough... THANK
YOU!
