Error on ESB

Hi,
I have SOA 10.1.3.3 Installed on one of our linux server. The ESB and XREF module supported by the ESB was working fine. Suddenly, since last week, when I try to login to ESB, I get the following error
"Designtime cache has not been initialized Please look in logs for following signs of failure. Fix them and restart. (a) Database access errors (b) ESB Bootstrap errors (c) OC4J class load errors (d) Product installation errors (e) Export ESB params and verify if host and port parameters are correct. Please contact Oracle Support if unable to fix the issue"
Now, ESB is not working and the XREF is also not working. For XREF, the error message is
"Error:Unable to access Metadata Repository
Please ensure the Metadata repository is accessible.. Please see the DT Server log for details"
Has anyone seen these errors before. Can you provide hints on resolving these errors?

Hi,
We have restarted the opmn processes many times and no success. We haven't changed the datasource on SOA either. By "data source definition", did you mean the definition on the Enterprise Manager. We have configured the SOA Server to use Oracle Database server for dehydration and for other db related activites. The BPEL processes deployed on that server is working fine. The only issue is with the ESB and XREF. And, do yyou know where is the "DT Server log" located on the server.

Error JDBC/esb not found

I am trying to get familiar with the SOA Suite and installed Oracle Xe DB and SOA Suite in Windows. I followed all the steps as in the manual but when trying to do the folowing step
Right-click FulfillmentESB, and select Register with ESB > OrderBookingIS
I get the error javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: jdbc/esb not found

I found some of the post on jdbc/esb error but seems much advance and could not follow where to start. Can some body guide me to check where the problem is.

I am also getting the same error cant find driver for my jdbc connection. 1.I set it up and it worked for 3 days then got that message
2.reinstalled crystal reports 2011
3. using Connector/J 5.1.33.
4. edited the classpath like before and same error. How do i fix this?

Error invoking esb from web service proxy

I have created a web service proxy (with jdeveloper 10.1.3.2) to invoke my service on the ESB.
When i try to invoke this service with the proxy, the following error message appears:

When i take a look in the esb console, there i can see, that the service was invoked, but it is signed with the error symbol (i'm writing data into a database and the lines to the database adapter a green, but the lines back are red. But it writes nothing into the database. If i klick on the test webservice button at the appserver, everything works fine).
Does anybody know the reason why it don't work?

In the ESB Control you can view the exception that's being thrown, is the PrivilegActionException the only stack trace you have?
Maybe you can have a look if the data that's returned from the db-adapter is interpreted correctly by the ESB? You're working with a Request/Reply ESB so you need to make sure that as well the input as the ouput that's returned by the Routing Service is properly defined.

Runtime error in ESB

i have restarted my serveer, deleted the esb and re created it again but problem persists.

ESB by default generates ESB WSDL(Java Binding) and SOAP WSDL, By Default ESB WSDL will be invoked for better performance, We have a parameter called "includeESBBinding" to switch Off ESB WSDL, So that we can force to use SOAP based WSDL. So, All you have to do is to force to use SOAP Based WSDL by addding the parameter "includeESBBinding=false" in the Service Definition.
setting includeESBBinding=false on the invoked routing service will remove the error, but this is to be considered a workaround.

Hi Surya,
You are getting an exception in Microsoft.Practices.ESB.Resolver.dll. which has some issues in 2.1 version for calling dynamic resolver .
You can try enabling diagnostics to see some of the trace log
Note :To enable the BizTalk ESB Toolkit trace switch, add the following <switches> element to the
system.diagnostics section of the Machine.config file.

Note: Please take a backup of existing ESB.config before modifying
Here are the settings
Manually modify the existing esb.config file as follows:1.Remove the <typeConfig> element
2.Change the <typeAlias> element to <alias>
3.Change the <type> element to <register>
4.Remove the <containers> elements
5.Remove the <types> elements
6.Remove the <typeAliases> elements
7.Remove the parameterType attribute of the <param> elements.
8.Remove the type attribute of the <value> element within <param name="overrideExistingItinerary">

As mentioned in my previous post, the fix is provided for ESB Toolkit 2.2 and not for
ESB Toolkit 2.1.
ESB Toolkit 2.2 uses Microsoft Enterprise Library 5.0 and Unity 2.0 whereas
ESB Tookit 2.1 uses Microsoft Enterprise Library 4.1 and Unity 1.2.
REFRAIN FROM DOING ANY CONFIG CHANGES WITHOUT CONSULTING MICROSOFT.

i wonder if anyonce can help me.. i have downloaded a solution for Errorhandleing in ESB,
on of the deoployment steps is..
1. Create OC4J instance named oc4j_scheduer and deploy ESB AQ accroding to oc4j_soa instance

ok i have created the oc4j container but what is the ESB AQ? where do i find it and deploy it to the new OC4J instance

I think they are referring to database persistence for ESB during SOA installation, you can look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10291_01/core.1013/e10294/webapp.htm#CHDDFCCA
You have to do similar for oc4j_scheduler as well.

Its not with xml,as the same codebase and the script does work in other env(dev/tst/stage) except in prod.I simply can't figureout whts the issue.
Even I see below error in esb-dt logs
SUPPL_DETAIL><![CDATA[oracle.tip.esb.monitor.MonitorException: Unable to build the instance relationship, as the required metadata is not available
The above error shows in esb console as well in instances.This is a major concern.

ESB Console Error while trying to install AIA FP 2.2

Hi all
I am installing AIA FP 2.2 and while installing I am getting the following error:
"Design time cache has not been initialized"
also
When I log into my esb console I am getting this error:
Designtime cache has not been initialized Please look in logs for following signs of failure. Fix them and restart. (a) Database access errors (b) ESB Bootstrap errors (c) OC4J class load errors (d) Product installation errors (e) Export ESB params and verify if host and port parameters are correct. Please contact Oracle Support if unable to fix the issue.
Any suggestions to solve this issue?????

Hi Senthil,
As mentioned in the message below, please examine the logs and see if you are getting any errors. Most likely your ESB engine initialization is failing while server bootup. If there is no error in the oc4j log, OPMN log and FP install log and the propblem persists, please contact your Oracle Support by logging an SR.

Error Handling in BPEL & ESB - Rejection Handlers

Hi guys
I have been trying to evaluate various ways for handling errors/exceptions in BPEL and ESB in Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 (Basic installation).
What i have found is that in ESB, errors can be handled at two levels: ESB routing service errors using ERROR_TOPIC and Adapter errors using RejectionHandlers. AND
in BPEL errors can be handled using in built try/catch (calling error hospital from the catch) and adapter erros using RejectionHandlers.
I tried using Rejection handlers (bpel, wsif, file) in BPEL and ESB. In BPEL they all are working fine when registered in bpel.xml.
But in ESB only the file handler is working. What i did in ESB is:
I set up an ESB which is polling a file adapter and simply putting the data into a table in database.
Then i created a BPEL (or a Webservice) which is based on http://localhost:8888/orabpel/xmllib/jca/RejectionMessage.wsdl file, taking
{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/errorHandling}RejectedMessage as input.
Then I registered Rejection Handler in ESB's file adapter's .esbsvc (or Enpoint property- rejectedMessageHandlers):

I generated error in ESB by changing a column name of the table
For bpel rejection handler:

"Error while trying to hand off bad message to Rejection handler bpel://default:welcome1|BPEL_Error_Handler|handleRejection|message due to: java.lang.LinkageError: duplicate class definition: com/oracle/bpel/client/ejb/interfaces/IDeliveryBeanHome. Please address the underlying issue or correct/redeploy the process."
*For wsif rejection handler*:
getting error: "Error while trying to hand off bad message to Rejection handler wsif://http//localhost8888/Error_webservices/RejectionHandlerPort?WSDL|handleRejection|message due to: exception on JaxRpc invoke: serialization error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: getSerializer requires a Java type and/or an XML type

Same bpel/wsif handlers pointing to same BPEL/J2EE services, if configured for BPEL adapters, works absolutly fine and gives proble in ESB.
Am i missing something in ESB or is there any patch need to be applied? Please help me there.

I even installed SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 MLR#5 Advanced installation with Oracle Express dehyderation store.
I was able to use WSIF rejection handler with this upgrade... but bpel rejection handler was still a failure.
So basically i re-visited ESB documentation. it says that ESB will not support bpel rejection handler.
At least not upto now.
So Summary:
For BPEL we can use - file, wsif, bpel & aq rejection and fatal message handler.
For ESB we can use file, WSIF (10.1.3.4 with MLR#5) & aq rejection and fatal message handler.

Does any one knows what the problem is ? I tried restarting the Application server many times but this problem is not solved...

Hi,
First things I would check :
- check connectivity between SOA and Dehydration DB
- check if DB and DB listener are running
- check in esb_parameter table from ORAESB schema if DT_OC4J_HOST and DT_OC4J_PORT point to the machine where ESB-DT is running
- if you made a recent upgrade - have you also upgraded the DB schemas for esb and bpel ?

Post deploy fails on 10.1.3.4. ESB Control console says see DT server logs

We have recently upgraded our SOA Suite to 10.1.3.4. I was able to deploy all our ESB web services to the environment successfully. But after deployment, I restarted the J2EE server and after that when I login to ESB Control Console, I get an error in "Services" section as "Unknow Error in ESB. Please see the DT server log for details". I deployed services using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. Could that be a problem? Please assist us as it has brought down our environment for 1 week.
Please note that we had everything working perfect in 10.1.3.3 & dont know what created the problem in 10.1.3.4.

It might be that your esb tables has no data.
You can resolve this problem in the following way.
1. Running irca again. This method has the side effect of losing all metadata (other esb applications) already deployed on the server.
2. Connect to the database as esb user. Run the query "Select count(*) from esb_parameter". This query will return a 0 records found result. Now you have to insert the values into the esb_parameter table again.

We are running an ftpadapter scenario here

I get this error when trying to deploy to my ESB server and when viewing my ESB via the web or console whatever you would call it. Also im very new to this so when you say esb_parameter i sort of know what you mean than dhydration store you lose me. Now are you saying the host and port name in the oc4j file for the server that my soa server is connecting to ?

Capturing Runtime Exception in ESB

How to capture the Runtime Exception in ESB?
Is there any special API to handle the Exceptions and Logging?

If it's a Sync call the caller should get SOAP fault and if it's Asynch then it goes into ESB error hospital logic. Depending on type of fault (Retriable vs Business) you can retry or view the error from ESB Console. What special exception handling you need?
Only logging available for now is Instance Tracking. Any sophisticated requirements need to come up with their own Auditing service.

I want to know how can we achieve error handling in ESB as we can handle in BPEL through Catch and Throw activity is there any way to catch the errors in ESB?

Most of all ESB errors (retriable by default), are thrown to ESB_ERROR topic. You can read that topic to catch error and do business logic based on that.
there is already existing j2ee application, which you should be able to find on soa cab.
