Compiled with jdk1.3.1_01 and run under VM 2.0
I have compilied all my source code with jdk1.3.1_01 and ias6.0 sp3 uses jdk1.2.2 or 2.0VM....is this difference going to affect my application?
Hi,
It depends upon how your application is coded. If you use some of
the functionalities which JDK 1.2 uses and incase JDK 1.3 doesn't likes
that, you are likely to get errors. Infact, iAS encourages you to use
the JVM which is bundled along with iAS SP3 and using JDK apart from
that troubles. Please refer to my previous posting on iAS SP3 & JDK 1.3,
I've tested them, which threw lots of errors. Hope this helps.

What you need to do is to edit your classpath environment variable in control panel->systems, and use quotation marks for any long directory/file names, or directory names with spaces in them. For example, change C:\IBM Connectors\classes to "C:\IBM Connectors\classes". Then it will work. -
ObjectTAG with JDK1.3.1_01
Hi,
I have an urgent problem with the object tag and the <b>jdk1.3.1_01</b>.
I've used the html converter to transform the applet TAG to the object TAG with the 1.3.1_01 SDK.
There is allready the JRE 1.3.1_01 installed on the PC, but everytime I access the html-page, the download-dialog opens and wants to load the jdk from SUN.
Due to our customers we have to use only the allready installed jdk version. On the destination pc there will be no internet connection available.
Can anybody please help me, how I can solve this problem?
Greetings Tim

Jdk1.3.1_01
After I install jdk1.3.1_01 and then run the program
by typing - javac HelloWorld.java
class HelloWorld{
public static void main(String args[]){
system.out.println("Hello World");
The output said
error:cannot read: Hello World.java
1 error
I don't know why I have faced this problem.
Can u help me to fix itIt is very important that you understand that JAVA is case sensitive.
Your Code below does not work because you violate this rule.
class HelloWorld{
public static void main(String args[]){
system.out.println("Hello World");
Your Code should read as follows;
class HelloWorld{
public static void main(String args[]){
System.out.println("Hello World");
Notice that the key word "System" is capitalized. I also hope that you are indenting your classes and methods.
I hope that helps. -
Configuring the PATH for jdk1.3.1_01 in WindowsXP
I need help in configuring the autoexec.bat file for jdk1.3.1_01 . I am running on WindowsXP. (I used to have win 98 on my old pc that crashed and had jdk1.2.1 and working just fine) Now I have a new pc and have tried the following:
windir=C:\WINDOWS
SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\jdk1.3.1_01\bin
SET PROMPT=$p$g
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
When I type in C:\path ...it does not show the path I entered. I have no clue what I am doing and the instructions I printed out from sun just do not help me out at all. I really need to get this working so I can continue learning. If anyone can please straighten me out on this I would really appreciate it. Feel free to email me at [email protected]
Thanks RebaYour PATH appears to be correct. However, to verify your PATH you should be able to type the following:
c:\>echo %PATH%
This will display your PATH setting on the console. In addition, you can verify that your PATH setting is correct by typing:
c:\>java -version
If your path is set correctly, you should see something like:
java version "1.3.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0-C)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0-C, mixed mode)
If, instead, you get something like:
"Bad command or file name"
Then your PATH is not configured correctly.
Hope this helps. -
Classes not found when compiling for jdk1.3.1_01 on red hat 7.2
I have just installed jdk1.3.1_01 (rpm) on linux red hat 7.2
I have written a small program to test, however, the compiler isn't able to locate the classes.
import javax.swing.*;
public class JTest {
public static void main( String args[] )
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( null, "Hello", "Test Dialog",
JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE );
System.exit( 0 );
When compiled it generates the error:
JTest.java:10: error:Variable "JOptionPane" is not defined in current context
I have the path and classpath set to what I think are the correct directory paths.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks..Sorry, typo in the classpath... but now when I compile
I get error: "segmentation fault" then nothing else.
This also happens when I execute a precompiled app (eg
"java OldApp").This is to do with GLIBC-2.2, I believe. :/ (Pointed out by Niteen. :)
"ulimit -s 2048" should fix this. Adding this line to /etc/profile or your ~/.profile shall automatically run this command every log in.

There aren't a lot of details in addition to what I put in the question field. Just got the FF beta v4 and used it fine, but when I attempted to launch it today, I got the error. The only info not listed there is the error title, XULRunner, which may be helpful. Other than that, I have a screen shot of it if that would be helpful. That's about it.
Do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -

I,m trying to restore my phone but I keep getting Error code 21.... help please iPhone 4S
Take a look at this Apple doc -> iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
You could just update or uninstall the security software on your computer and then test again. -
I did a manual restore but it gave me an error it was 3914 i need help fixing it.
i did a manual restore but it gave me an error it was 3914 i need help fixing it.
From this Apple support document: iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194." If you receive this alert, update to the latest version of iTunes. Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the headingBlocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

I get the following message when I try to unistall 1.4 of java:
error number 0x80040702 description failed to load dll:actpanel and the uninstall fails. Any help on this would be appreciated.This is where the nerd of me comes out.
- This is NOT a Java Problem -
This is actually an installshield problem and nothing much has really been documented on this.
This error occurs when Java's setup program doesn't kill itself correctly, either installing or uninstalling itself.
I 'believe' (Untested but I believe strongly) that removing from a windows box registry the key

Reboot, and uninstall again, it should uninstall just dandy. But keep in mind, its probably just easier to type "format c: /u", or uninstall java 1.4.x maunally.
David Grocke
P.S. If you ever get the 0x80040702 error it can 'most probably' be fixed by this. It could also be a required dll is corrupt or missing, or is locked by another program that installshield needs (such as installshield itself). -

Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. FollowiTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
