Error opening PDF (ADS) in https mode. Works fine in HTTP
Hi,
We are running a application on NW 7.01 which basically opens a pdf document (ADS). the pdf document is opening fine when we run it from NWDS / in HTTP mode. But throws this error when run on the portal which uses HTTPS. We have configured HTTPS in visual administrator (services->destination->HTTP). But still the same issue.
Can anyone please suggest?

Please check if the pdfSource property of the IF is bound to a Context attribute of Binary Type.

Powermac G5 won't boot - but safe mode works fine!!!
[The computer described below is a Powermac G5 dual core 2.7gHz, purchased in late 2005, running OS X 10.4.11]
Here's an odd thing... a few months back, my powermac stopped booting. It wasn't a power supply issue. I would get the white screen with the apple to come up, but when it was time for the blue screen with the user logins, the screen would go black.
I tried swapping out all the RAM, and nothing worked. Was able to get safe mode to work, once, and then never again. Finally I broke down and took my baby to Tekserve.
Tekserve took a MONTH to get it back to me, and they claimed it was a bad RAM set. This sounded really odd to me, since I thought I had correctly tested several sticks of RAM, and even no RAM, without any success. But I'm not one of the experts, so, hey. My computer was running again and that's all I cared about.
Well, now, about 3 weeks later, my computer will not boot. It started with the loud fans. Now I'm not having any fan noise, but it still won't boot. Here's how I've troubleshot it so far:
- The computer boots FINE in safe mode. I verified the disc in safe mode, and everything checks out. Everything also checks out using fsdk -fy in single user mode. So no disc problem, apparently.
- When I reset the PRAM using crtlopt+pr after the chime, the screen resolution changes from 1200x1024 to 800x600. After the white screen, I do get the blue screen, but WITHOUT any user login, and the mouse cursor does not show up.
- When I reset the NVRAM using open firmware (reset-nvram, set-defaults, reset-all), I'm back to my normal problem of white screen followed by black nothingness (and emotional despair).
Tonight I'm going to try swapping out the RAM again, but if that doesn't work, what's next? I don't know where I put the original Hardware Test DVD that came with the powermac... is there a program I can buy to see if this is my logic board, without bringing the powermac back into tekserve? I live in NYC and have no car; bringing this heavy item into Manhattan is a real issue for me!!!
Anyways, any and all info is greatly appreciated. I really hope I'm overlooking something obvious. Natch, neither Apple nor Tekserve want to give me any advice without me shelling over more of my hard-earned cash. And this all went down 3 months after applecare expired... sigh...Very interesting... they're telling me (at Tekserve) that this problem is caused by bad sectors in my SECONDARY drive. Doesn't make any sense to me at all, but that's what they're saying... pretty sure the RAM and video card are fine. I tried resetting NVRAM and PRAM, and that did nothing... safe mode works fine, as I mentioned... even got it running in normal mode for about 30 seconds one time.
It's the shop now, so we'll see, when I get the computer back, what the real problem was. It makes me flabbergasted that bad sectors in my secondary drive could have any effect whatsoever on boot! -
Airport express (802.11n) in client mode: works fine but problem

I use the airport express in client mode on my existing wireless network (router netgear dg834n and macbook pro).
The client mode works fine: I have connected it to my existing network with WPA2 security system and also mac adress filtering in the router.
I also have connected the Airport express via ethernet to my satellite receiver and it is always connected without interruption, and always green.
BUT
i always lose the possibility to use airtunes. I mean: When I go to itunes or if I try to connect to the airport interface, I can't. I have to plug it off from electricity, and plug it on again, wait the connection, and I can have access and use itunes. Then, If my Mac goes into sleep mode and then wake up again, I lose the airtunes connection and the connection to the interface. Meanwhile, the light is still green and my sat receiver connected.

ModaInstead of using WDS, you should take advantage of the "Allow this network to be extended" option that is available for the 802.11n AirPorts including the TC. WDS only operates in the 802.11g radio mode.
Here's the basic setup:
o If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
o Open AirPort Utility and select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
o Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
o Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
o Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
o Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
o Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
o Enter the base station network and base station password is necessary.
o Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.

Hello, please help, my interface is connected to the microphone and when i open Logic 9 it does´t work. But I opened garageband to check and it works fine. I can record voice with any effect... With Logic i see the sound passes in the interface but does not arrive in Logic. The Loops works fine and i can hear. Is just the sound to record the voice it does not work. What can i do ??? I used Logic before in the same computer and it worked fine. Thank you so much, I´m a begginer recording myself.
Make sure you go into preferences in Logic and set the audio input to be your interface and the audio output to be either built in output or the interface, if that is hooked up to something else. It sounds like Garageband has the audio interface set as the input but not Logic.
Also make sure you close all other applications except Logic to ensure it is not running in slave mode... -

Thanks for your response DJ. I have Windows Vista and I'am getting NO error messages, crazy right? I just click on the organizer and it acts like its going to do something and then you wait and wait for maybe 30 minutes and it just doesn't move forward. I have been using the PSE programs for many years and have never encountered this problem! Program Error from running the *,exe file but works fine running with CVI
When starting CVI created program on Win 2000, I get message “Program Error”.
I have created a program using NI/CVI version 5.5. I am running windows 2000, I get message
“Program Error"
*.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.”
It works fine when running directly from the compilier, but if I run just the *.exe I get this error. I never used to.
Please let me know if anyone else had this problem or knows solution.

CraigIn the debugger unitialized globals are initialized to zero, but not for a release .exe. So if you are checking whether a global pointer is NULL before it is set to a value by your application it will generally work fine in the debugger but may crash as a release configuration depending on what you use that pointer for. That's a common thing I have run into.

Clicking search results, in the strict sense pdf files, using IE on an anonymous SharePint 2013SP1 site, I received the error:
There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
I would like to solve this problem on the server side.
Starting position:
- SharePoint 2013 SP1
- Web Application:
- based on template 'Publishing Portal'
- Anonymous Access enabled
- Claims based authentication: Integrated Windows Authentication NTLM
- Client Integration disabled
- Site Collection:
- Anonymous Access enabled for 'Entire Web site' => group 'Anonymous Users' was created
- added permission to open items: $Web.AnonymousPermMask64 = "ViewListItems, ViewVersions, ViewFormPages, Open, ViewPages, UseClientIntegration, OpenItems"
- SC-Feature 'Limited-access user permission lockdown mode' disabled
Client side solutions:
c1) Open Link with “Open in new tab” or “Open in new window” => OK
c2) Disable IE Add-on “Adobe Acrobat Sharepoint OpenDocuments Component” => OK

Server side solutions:
S1) Turn off Client Integration => didn't work, still same error

I gave these two options a chance:

I modified DOCICON.XML on both hives 14 and 15.
Remarks:
- After changingparameters I allways did an IISreset.
- As far as I understood I can only change bDisableSharePointFeatures on Client Side.

I am using the code form the following link to send a smartform output as PDF attachment. I can able to see the message, but can not open PDF document.

Open pdf to specific page is working in XP but not Vista
Hello,
I have a Flash project consisting of multiple pages. On each page there is a link that will allow the user to open a pdf to a specific page to supplement the information contained in the Flash page.
To do this I am attaching the following script to the button on each page:

This works fine in Windows XP. I can navigate to different pages in Flash and open a different page in the pdf each time.
It is not working for me in Vista. What it does in Vista is the first time you click on the button it will open the pdf to the specified page. The problem is that if you hit that button again or navigate to another page and click on that button to open another page in the pdf, it opens the pdf but only to the first page and ignores the specified page request.
The project will be running from a cd only.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Adobe Reader blocked himself when the software tried to open a PDF File (the PDF File is standard, no special things). A protected mode message is displayed but this mode is disabled in the preferences. In order to resolve the issue, I have to reboot the server. The version of Adobe Reader which is installed is the latest one. Have you already noticed such issue? What should I do in order to avoid the problem?

hi -- I'm getting an error opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report.
I've seen on the forum that this could be related to the size of the file, but I've tried
this out on 10-row results (1k files) and it's still an issue.
I save the file to my file system. If I try to open it in Adobe Reader, I get:
File does not begin with '%PDF-'
and
Adobe Reader could not open <filename>.pdf because it is either not a supported
file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email
attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
If I try to open in Internet Explorer, I get:
File does not begin with '%PDF-'
Other users are having the same problem. Download to csv and open in Excel works fine.
Do I need to have special print attributes for this? I didn't think so... I'm just using the defaults
(response header = report settings, content disposition = attachment).
Ideas?

I'm having the same problem that was described above, and my site does have BI Publisher installed, and it does successfully produce readable pdfs for many reports.
But there are other reports, even reports produced using the Apex Wizard and all defaults, that just keep producing the same Adobe Reader error reported above, ie
"Adobe Reader could not open <filename>.pdf because it is either not a supported

Any suggestions?

When this is on a button, adobe reader will open, but gives an error saying "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
When I hit the ok button on the error notice, the pdf opens.
Any ideas why I am getting this message even though the pdf opens after dismissing the message would be appreciated.The reason I assumed, or asked, whether it was Windows-only is because of your use of the backslash character as the folder delimiter. Clicking search results, in the strict sense pdf files, using IE on an anonymous SharePint 2013SP1 site, I received the error: There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
I would like to solve this problem on the server side.
Starting position:
SharePoint 2013 SP1
Web Application:
based on template 'Publishing Portal'
Anonymous Access enabled
Claims based authentication: Integrated Windows Authentication NTLM
Client Integration disabled
Site Collection:
Anonymous Access enabled for 'Entire Web site' => group 'Anonymous Users' was created
added permission to open items: $Web.AnonymousPermMask64 = "ViewListItems, ViewVersions, ViewFormPages, Open, ViewPages, UseClientIntegration, OpenItems"
Client side solutions:
c1) Open Link with “Open in new tab” or “Open in new window” => OK
c2) Disable IE Add-on “Adobe Acrobat Sharepoint OpenDocuments Component” => OK
c3) Set bDisableSharePointFeatures to 1 in regetit => OK
Server side solutions:
S1) Turn off Client Integration => didn't work, still same error
S2) Modify DOCICON.XML => didn't work, still same error
I gave these two options a chance:
first: <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.png" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments"/>
then: <Mapping Key="pdf" Value="icpdf.png" OpenControl="AdobeAcrobat.OpenDocuments"/>
I modified DOCICON.XML on both hives 14 and 15.
Remarks:
- After changingparameters I allways did an IISreset.
- As far as I understood I can only change bDisableSharePointFeatures on Client Side.
Any help, suggestion, idea wellcome!
Thanks!Hi folks, here's the reason for my problem. I used the oob search result web part. The result items (PDF items) are rendered by the template Item_PDF.html/Item_PDF.js. This template holds a code snippet that assigns a certain OpenControl to the PDF item - that's hard coded. So, no matter what you configure in DOCICON.XML, the PDF item will be opened with the control "PdfFile.OpenDocuments". Solution is e.g. just to leave the OpenControl blank.
