Error - ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL" - when trying to download files.
Hi, I have an application where I try to implement download of the attachments.
I am trying to use Denes Kubicek approach

When I run stored procedure I get this error message.
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error

The code breaks at :
OWA_UTIL.mime_header (NVL (v_mime, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
Does anybody have any idea why it breaks?

Actually, the error comes up when I try to execute any of these lines:

I've check the syntax for the entire script and it all checks out. Does anyone have a clue why this is failing?If I'm looking at the same DDL, not seeing where it would throw an owa_util error, are you running it in the apex script editor?
Just plain sqlplus doesn't like the empty line stuck in with the list of check constraints on the emp_dept column, after fixing that up (and dropping the sequence that got created on the first pass) the DDL and insert runs fine- -

I have just installed APEX 2.2 in my 9.2.0.7 database and am going through the exercises in the "2 Day+ Application Express Developer's Guide." I was making good progress, until I got to Chapter 5, How to Control Form Layout. I created the script "ht_emp", as instructed. Everything in the script works, except for the "create or replace trigger bi_ht_emp" part. It fails with the following errors:

I have confirmed that nls_length_semantics = BYTE

500 Server Error when Trying to Download Files
Hi,
I keep getting a 500 server error when trying to download any of the Oracle ORION files: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/orion/index.html Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

Firefox crashes when trying to download files - suggested solutions have failed to help
Every time I try to download a file, the moment I select 'save file' and click 'ok', Firefox crashes. Once I restart, I receive a message that the file has completed downloading, and it's always in the designated download folder. However, the crashes are making it terribly inconvenient to download. This problem was occurring while I was on Firefox 3.6, and has continued now that I've updated to Firefox 4. Since updating, I have tried all of the solutions offered in the help articles 'Firefrox crashes when trying to download a file' and 'Unable to download or save files'. None of these solutions have helped.
Crash ID is listed below, and just in case it's important, here is the signature: hang | mozilla::plugins::PPluginInstanceParent::CallNPP_HandleEvent(mozilla::plugins::NPRemoteEvent const&, short*)See both [[firefox crashes]] and [[firefox hangs]] please provide Crash IDs if you are getting crashes.
Note also that firefox 10 upgrades were suspended,and Firefox 10.0.1 is now coming out. One of the problems that will fix is hangs relating to java use; that may turn out to be the problem you have.
I suggest you keep your eyes on [[latest firefox issues]] which hopefully will be updated shortly.
(I note you are using 10.0 and 11.0b according to the system info aside you may be interested in some of the more techie explanations in [/forums/contributors/708145 another] [/forums/contributors/708122 section] ) -
I get "cannot create file" eror message when trying to download files

None of them work for me. Also when I try to change permissions I get an error message that says "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 5)." This happened after I let my hard drive get too full a week or two ago.

Which of the many replies did you try?
Have you run disk pemissions repair with the Disk Utility?
Try this: Check the permissions on the desktop,
clicking on the desktop itself go to the "File" menu "Get Info"
Make sure that you have Read & Write in the "Ownership & Permissions" portion of the get info window, however if in the General portion of the "Get Info" window if the "Locked" checkbox is checked it will also prevent you from creating new files in the folder, if it is checked, uncheck it.
Try downloading a file, any better?
If not....are you able to download files in a test account?
Try Safari in a other user or "Test" account, to create one:
Under the Blue Apple go > System Preferences /Accounts/ Login Options use the [+] to create one, for ease you could enter test in all the fields.
A test account helps us determine if this is a system wide issue or isolated to your user name account.

I am having this problem for weeks now.
What I tried:
- Defragmentation
- Reinstall Firefox on a different location
- Change download location
- Start Firefox in safe mode and try download
- Disable all add-ons and plug-ins
- Complete malware/spyware scan
- Complete virus scan
- Delete downloads.sqlite in the profile folder
- Uninstall firefox and delete the entire mozilla folder in Roaming location
- Disabling antivirus
Nothing helps! I'm only having this problem in Firefox. Downloading with Chrome for example doesn't give any problems.
How can I resolve this problem? I'm really desperate.

But i'm using Oracle XE with storage limit /1GB/ and i don't want store any images in database. I prefer to use bfile type with link to files on OS level.
By the way , just for tests, i try to use blobs on my own table with simular procedure, which throws the same error - with owa_util.mime_header. And think that the problem is related to owa_util package.
My APEX version is 2.1 - built-in in Oracle XE, not 3.1 -

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 0x80073715, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?) -

I have tried both SQL Dev 3.2.20.09 and 4.0.0.12 on separate db hosts and in both case I had to modify the sqldev/dataminer/scripts/validateODMRSYS.sql so the upgrade would "validate" and finish. The cursor in validateODMRSYS.sql originally looked for "INVALID" objects and changes to it caused it to report all objecst invalid which calls RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(...) then fails to validate, see cursor snippet below. After correcting the cursor and running the upgrade upon double-click or ODM connection it is successful. I have multiple log files of the process if needed.
