Which OS are you using? are you using the base version 8.1.6? Try upgrading to 8.1.6.3.1 on both the server and clients. or try setting
sqlnet.authentication_services=(none)
in your sqlnet.ora file.

When I create the dsn in Windows, I can test the connection with no problems. In dreamweaver there are 2 options : 1) use local DSN 2)use DSN on testing server. When I use local DSN, it was fine. Since my machine is the web server, I have to choose option 2).
As I mentioned before, I have set the security options of the Oracle folder accessible to Iusr, Iwam and authenticated users. -

SQLPlus COPY error: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
This is what I'm trying to do:
I'm logged into an Oracle 8.1.6 database on a Windows 2000 Professional box and trying to copy data and tables from an Oracle 7.3.4 database on an HP/UX box.
I log into my 8.1.6 SQLPlus as:
scott/tiger@testdb
Then I run the following:
SQL> set copycommit 1
SQL> set arraysize 1000
SQL> copy from user/user1@devp1 -
create reps_t -
using -
select * from reps_tThis is my error:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Can someone give me a better understand how SQLPlus COPY works and give me an idea how to locate the problems.
Thanks,
Laith E.H.
nullI think this combination user/user1@devp1
is not ok.
U can get good material about copy command
from technet itself. Just search for Copy -

Error ORA-12537 when trying to connect
I'm getting an 'ORA-12537 TNS:connection closed' error when connecting to the database (8.1.7 on Win2k). The problem persists even after restarting both, listener and database-service. I cannot even connect as SYSDBA. How can i solve this problem?
Seems like it may be a problem with Oracle on Windows and Firewalls. Check that your firewall software/hardware is able to proccess SQL*NET requests.
Try to open all the ports based on IP address and see if that works. -

I have a Forms 6.0 application running on a Solaris box. It connects
fine to an Oracle 9.0 server but fails with ORA-12154 when trying to

As you can see, I have tried adding an alias for the default domain
name suffix '.qonnectis.com' in the tnsnames.ora files on the solaris
client and on the new 10g server.
Just to add to the fun, the 'new' server running Ora 10g CANNOT connect
to the old server running Ora 9:
sqlplus user/pass@nn_qq3
sqlplus user/pass@nn_qq3.qonnectis.com both fail.
While the old 9.0 server CAN connect to the new 10g one:
sqlplus user/[email protected] succeeds.
Sorry this is such a mess. TBH I find this whole area extremely
confusing.
All suggestions welcome. Unfortunately I am away on holiday next week
but will follow up any leads when I get back.
thanks!

Throwing error ORA- 01031 while connecting as sys, but not with system
Hi
we are having oracle 10g on one of the server. When I try to connect sqlplus "/as sysdba"..its throwing error
ORA- 01031: Insufficient privelege.
But when I tried login with sqlplus system@dbname its getting connected properly. whats the reason behind this? It was
working fine till yesterday.
Thanks
Shiyas MThe reason for this can partly be seen in your profile,
you have asked 17 questions, and 17 of them have been unresolved.
This isn't very likely,
so likely you are too lazy to label a question as answered.
Your laziness is also indicated by this question, which is a FAQ, and FAQs are most often asked, by people who
- don't read documentation
- don't use online resources
- don't search this forum
prior to asking their FAQ.
Your equation of SYS as SYSDBA and the SYSTEM account is also incorrect, as SYSTEM doesn't have SYSDBA privileges.
The ORA-1031 simply means someone somehow disabled OS authentication.
Now it is up to you to find out why.
Either by using online resources, or by reading documentation, and researching your own database.
Not by asking a FAQ and never marking any answer as correct.

Oracle raise ORA-03113 when connect to a remote oracle server using toad
Hi there,
when i use the tool toad connect to a remote oracle server which located in a different city,
when i submit a query in toad,
if the query returns many rows of data, it will raise the error ORA-03113:end-of-file on communication channel,
however if the query returns only a few rows, i won't raise such error,
however, when i use sqlplus connect to that remote server, it won't raise such error,
what's the reason is, can any one tell me how to tackle this problem if using the tool toad. thanks/hi my oracle vsersion is:

my oracle server is 2 nodes rac server,
and i've tried two different kind version of toad v9.6 and v10.5, and both have the same problem
once i query a table, if the result returned more than 30 rows, then it will raise that error, if query returns less than 30 rows, it's ok.
i assume it is a problem concern with network, but i don't know why no such error raise when using sqlplus ? -

KTHi KT,
Actually the problem is not ORA-1403, but the <i>ORA-00406: COMPATIBLE parameter needs to be 9.2.0.0.0 or greater</i>.
Please update the COMPATIBLE parameter in your init<SID>.ora file and restart the database. This should fix your problem.
Kind regards,
Alexander Webster
P.S. points are appreciated if my reply was helpfull.

ORA-03115 when connect to Oracle8.0.5.1 on Linux
My JDeveloper with JDBC(upgraded today) connects OK to Oracle8
on NT and SUN. But there is error with Oracle8 for Linux.
What's wrong?
nullHi,
You may wish to try high-performance Openlink drivers in order
to provide connectivity to your Linux version of Oracle.
Drivers can be downloaded at http://www.openlinksw.com

Check weather entries are there in the registry.
Go to the services in the control panel and see if the oracle service has started if not start it. If this is up then the registry is OK. if If not u can create it using the oradim utility.
Then set your oracle_sid = <dbname> in the dos prompt and try connecting again.
Let us see what happense
