Error: pool exhausted with 100 threads
hi,
I was wondering if anybody can provide me some
leads on how to deal with this problem... I have a
servlet that queries a database and churns
out (in response) a data populated html, however
after some time and several hits on the servlet, I
get the error that "ThreadPool: pool exhausted with
100 threads".
I'm not so sure if this is a webserver (I use tomcat)
or servlet problem, would certainly appreciate if
anybody can provide some help. tia!

You are experiencing a problem with the Tomcat Configuration likely. Look in the documentation and read about the configuration, and find where to increase the maximum number of clients at a time. If you are running a low-load server (just you?) then make sure that your servlets aren't entering an infinite loop somewhere and never exiting. Also, make sure you close all your printwriters or streaming outputs/inputs, because that can sometimes keep a thread alive longer than it should.
Good luck,
GN

100% thread pool/CPU usage prevent MII Applications from working
Hello to all,
our MII Applications were running on MII 11.5 (windowsserver 2003, with IIS) without any problems.
We migrated these MII Applications to SAP xMII Version 12.0 SP8, SAP NW 7.00 SP20, Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.4.2_22-rev-b03, mixed mode).
Since then we faced several problems that prevent the MII Applications from working, e.g.
- 100% application thread pool usage rate
- 100% CPU usage
- awful lot of http connections
Several sap support calls didn't find the root cause.
Workaround: restart sap system weekly
Does anyone has any idea how to go on?
Thanks
SimoneHi Mike,
sap support told us to install this Java version.
Furthermore SAP Note 716604 says "do not use J2SE 5.0" and "Currently, we recommend 1.4.2_24 b06".
Any more ideas?

Exhausted with all options for error "No active userstore is set"
Dear Experts,
I changed the client number to 200 in UME configuration from default client number 001. Also I had created a system user SAPJSF in the backend system in client 200. I restarted the j2ee engine but its not starting. I received this error WebAS running. Server not found. The log says "No active userstore is set".
I have researched the forum and tried out *all the notes and set the parameters in visual administrator tool*. Nothing is working.
I have reinstalled my system atleast 4 times after and finally I have exhausted with all options.
Please Help.Dear Sunny,
Thanks for the response. I had tried it for both client 000 and client 001. The problem still persists. I am thinking of raising an OSS message. Any other suggestion appreciated.

Error in WebDynpro with WebServices
Hi all,
Im getting some errors using applications deployed in WEB AS SP9 that runs as a WebDynpro IView in EP.
Running the application as standalone (out of EP) this works fine.
NetWeaver Developer Studio 2.0.9
WebDynpro application using WebServices that access Oracle 8i database in the follow sequence:
WebServices -> Session Bean stateless -> Entity Bean CMP (manage connections; generate sql code, etc.)
In WebDynpro application we import WebService Model by the follow sequence:
New Model - Import Web Service Model - Local Server for WSDL Source - <WebService deployed>
In each WebServices we have created these methods:
findByID(ID);
getAll();
insert(parameters);
remove(ID);
update(parameters);
We guess that the error is generated in Entity Bean because all WebServices generate these errors.

Error in communicating with Excel Calculation Services
When attempting to use Excel Web Access web part, I get "We're sorry. We ran into a problem completing your request. Please try that again in a few minutes."
Checked event log and found
There was an error in communicating with Excel Calculation Services

I googled the error and, as suggested by various sources, rebooted the server. (Same issue occurs) I also tried disabling asp.net impersonation with no change. Ideas?Hi ,
Reason for the error :
The Excel Services Application server computer is in a non-valid state and may need to be restarted.
Resolution : (Before taking the step toward to restart the server, try the below option)
Restart your excel service application app pool/ restart the excel service. (Reference :http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee513104(v=office.14).aspx)
If you have more than one application server in the farm , then try start the excel serviceto a different server.

Re: BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns
Hello Everyone.
I've run into something quite strange and am hoping you can help me.
I am using Apex 4.0.1 and Oracle version 10.2.0.5. I've created a "classical" report in which the underlying SQL is a very simple:
select * from pvtabThe Oracle table pvtab consists of 419 columns, all of which are varchar2(88) and number type. That's it.
When I run the report, al of the columns show up as expected.
However, when I go into the "Report Attributes" tab and click on one of the fields (any of them, it doesn't matter which one), I immediately get the following error:
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "598CAA7B68746A66F4B99E1512C36DED" application checksum = "0"If if replace the "*" with a few actual column names, then I am able to access any of these columns without problem.
If I put back the "*", I then encounter this error again.
I have never seen this error with other SQL SELECT statements in which I use the "*" qualifier to retrieve all columns from the table.
And so, I am wondering if the error is caused because of the large number of columns (419) in my table.
I've seen this same error mentioned in connection with forms but never with a report.
So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?
Any idea why I would be getting this error?
Here is the DDL for my table pvtab:

ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "50C9BDC0AA1AEF0EB272E9158B2117B4" application checksum = "0"
>
Happens whether using <tt>select *</tt> or including all column names in the query. (I know you don't want to type all the column names, but I'd never use <tt>select *</tt> in a production application: always use a proper column list. You can get one without typing by drag-and-drop of a table in most IDEs, or a query from <tt>user_tab_columns</tt>.)
I hit the problem at 274 columns. Such an arbitrary number leads me to think that the problem is not one of the number of columns per se, but is due to some other limit (possibly a 32K VARCHAR2/RAW buffer somewhere).
Workaround:
Updates to the report column attributes are actually being saved, and you can navigate them using the Page Definition tree view as described in Appendix B.
Getting More Help:
This is probably a bug. If you have a support agreement with Oracle raise an SR with Oracle Support.
Also:
<li>Search the forum using the "ORA-20503" code and other possible terms to see if there's anything relevant. I had a quick look but the only thread in this context recommended an upgrade on an Oracle 9 DB version that's not compatible with APEX 4.0.
<li>To get the attention of the Oracle APEX team or anyone else who may know more about this problem than we do, edit your original post and change the Subject to be more specific about the actual nature of the problem: <em>BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns</em>, and include your database version/edition and the definition of the <tt>PVTAB</tt> table.
Finally:
Somebody's bound to ask, so we might as well get started:
<li>Why so many columns?
<li>What requirement is this trying to fulfil? -

Broadcast - ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded
We've scheduled 3 reports to email PDF's to approx 400 users but the BEx broadcaster only managed to send out about 80 emails. in the various logs and traces I can see and error that states "ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded".
I can find various notes about this refering to various sytstem parameters but as far as I can tell our parametrs are set correctly e.g.
gw/max_conn 500
gw/max_sys 300
gw/max_overflow_size 10000000
gw/max_shm_req 50
rdisp/tm_max_no 200
rdisp/max_comm_entries 500
As I understand it from the notes we should increase the environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV. However the note I'm looking at (316877) states that this environment variable is on the ITS server but from talking to our Basis support the version of netweaver we are running doesnt have an ITS server?? Dont really know what all that means. Any ideas on that one or about the error message as a whole would be greatly appreciated.
If it's any help I can also see in SM21 that at the time of broadcasting the users got the error:
> Conversation ID: 33568780
> CPI-C function: CMSEND(SAP)
Communication error, CPIC return code 017, SAP return code 450
Thren in the broadcast log via RSRD_LOG the users have the error:
Java communication error: Error when opening an RFC connection RSBOLAP017
ThanksHi,
Try using these threads, if you get some help from them.
/thread/174978 [original link is broken]
RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION--max no of 100 conversation exceeded
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER - ConnTest issue Error "max no of 100 conversation" -
CPIC_MAX_CONV - ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded
I recvd the "ERROR max no of 100 conversations exceeded" and I could resolve it by setting the environment variable CPIC_MAX_CONV to a higher value for my <sid>adm per note 316877.
What I want to know is where can i check to see if this environment variable actually took effect WITHIN IN SAP (I can see it set in env and when I echo the variable) ? Can I see this anywhere within the SAP land ... in its server logs , property files etc ?
Also in general when we make changes to environment variables at the OS level pertinent to SAP then where within SAP does this get absorbed and where I can see the new values.
Pls advise.
thank you

Regards,
HitenHi Hiten,
Make sure that you have set the parameter CPIC_MAX_CONV under Environment variables --> system Variables.
For XI, the recommended value for this parameter is 400.

Error in filter with SQL Expression
HI Experts,
I have a sql query which works fine, but have to_date funtion() in the where clause as below :
and oe.ORDERED_DATE BETWEEN to_date('09-APR-2009 23:59:59','DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
AND to_date('10-APR-2009 23:59:59','DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
and (ol.ORDERED_ITEM LIKE 'abckdo%' OR ol.ORDERED_ITEM LIKE 'xysalnb%')
I am trying to create an OBIEE report with filter where the values of the filter are select as SQL Expression. and gave value to first variable as "to_date('09-APR-2009 23:59:59','DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')" and the second variable as " to_date('10-APR-2009 23:59:59','DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')"
But the report is giving me an error. If I remove the date condition, then the report works fine. Can anyone give some inputs in resolving the problem. The mentioning of the HH24:MI:SS is very import to get the right resultset.
Thanks in Advance.
svrHi SVR,
I've had similar difficulties in the past with OBIEE and using the TO_DATE in the logical SQL expressions. I'm not sure if OBIEE recognizes TO_DATE or if it only recognizes TO_DATE is certain situations.
However, I believe OBIEE recognizes the CAST( AS DATE) in all situations. Here's what I would recommend doing.
1) Go into the connection pool associated with the report your creating and click on the second tab, "Connection Scripts"
2) In the "Execute on Connect" area, click the "New" button and paste the following code: alter session set NLS_DATE_FORMAT='DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS' ** this step changes the default DD-MON-YYYY format of Oracle, to the format you will be giving the data in.
3) Save the RPD and bounce the services if you made this change off-line.
4) Instead of using TO_DATE() on your formulas, use CAST('09-APR-2009 23:59:59' AS DATE). Since we changed the default DATE mask to be the format that you're passing in, you should no longer see any issues.
Hope that helps!

DynamicStreamingResource and Error: Playback failed with certain media
I'm running into an issue with a DynamicStreamingResource wherein, with certain media, I receive a Playback failed error after about 20 seconds of playback. The error does not appear with these assets, which play back perfectly:
_dynamicStreamingResource = new DynamicStreamingResource("rtmp://cp67126.edgefcs.net/ondemand");
_dynamicStreamingResource.streamItems = Vector.<DynamicStreamingItem>(
[ new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_ 768x428_24.0fps_408kbps.mp4", 408, 768, 428)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_ 768x428_24.0fps_608kbps.mp4", 608, 768, 428)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_ 1024x522_24.0fps_908kbps.mp4", 908, 1024, 522)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_ 1024x522_24.0fps_1308kbps.mp4", 1308, 1024, 522)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:mediapm/ovp/content/demo/video/elephants_dream/elephants_dream_ 1280x720_24.0fps_1708kbps.mp4", 1708, 1280, 720)
However this set of assets do not work:
_dynamicStreamingResource = new DynamicStreamingResource("rtmp://flashstream.adobe.com/ondemand");
_dynamicStreamingResource.streamItems = Vector.<DynamicStreamingItem>(
[ new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:flash/m/mv1/acom/connectnow/flvs/acom014_854x480.flv", 408, 854, 480)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:flash/m/mv2/acom/connectnow/flvs/acom014_854x480.flv", 608, 854, 480)
, new DynamicStreamingItem("mp4:flash/m/mv3/acom/connectnow/flvs/acom014_854x480.flv", 908, 854, 480)
I've confirmed that each asset individually plays as desired, which they do.
Additionally, I have noticed that the buffer grows at an awkward rate - it jumps to about 10 seconds, stutters back and forth between 15 and 20, then stalls, and eventually jumps to 40 seconds, at which point the playhead, around 20 seconds, stalls and I receive the Playback failed error. This happens 100% of the time.
Any thoughts as to why the second set is problematic?
Thanks!I'm getting "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" when I try to play your first stream so I'm not able to investigate this. Here are some things to look at:
The bitrate you give to DynamicStreamingItem is very important. It must be accurate with regard to the encode. The switching rules use this value to throttle the connection between client and server to keep the buffer from growing too large. Make sure your encodes are CBR and not VBR (variable bitrate). Make sure all encodes have the same keyframe interval. Make sure you set your buffer to 8 seconds initially to get this working. You can adjust if you wish.
Also, turn logging on and start digging through the logs. Determine which stream playback is failing on. The next thing I would try is put the bitrate in the stream name and put them in the same location on the server rather than different paths for each bitrate.
Thanks,

How to throw a program with two threads?
Hello to everybody!
I'm using jdk 1.1.8 and I need to throw a program, and while this is running., i would show an image,
I have tried with 2 threads, but the image only is shown when the program is thrown, but not while,
Thanks in advance,
SilviaHave you done something like:
a) create a Window with your Panel and image on it, display the Window
b) fork off a thread that launches your app
c) when the thread is finished launching the app, kill the splash window
Window splash= new YourSplashWindow(...);
splash.show(); // display your splash screen
YourLauncherRunnable launch = new YourLauncherRunnable(splash);
new Thread(launch).start(); // start a new thread to launch your app
// loop until the launcher thread tells the window to die
while(!splash.shouldStop())
Thread.sleep(100);
// kill the window
splash.dispose();
class YourSplashWindow extends Window
public boolean shouldStop() {return Stop;}
boolean Stop = false;
public YourSplashWindow()
// set up the window here...
setBounds(...); // sets pos and size
public void killWindow()
Stop = true;
class YourLauncherRunnable implements Runnable
YourSplashWindow Win = null;
public YourLauncherRunnable(YourSplashWindow w)
Win = w;
public void run()
// do your launching here....
// done launching the program, kill the splash window
Win.killWindow();
}
