    Armin,
    I haven't seen this one before.
    Is your browser set to run with German locale?
    Here is my standard reply for problems with applet deployment in 3.1. It is probably the case that some classes available in the JDeveloper environment were not deployed to your web server environment.
    Applet Deployment for JDev 3.1
    Deployment issues for client and server:
    1. Make sure you have the JDK 1.2 plugin installed on the client.
    2. If your webserver and database are not on the same machine, you will have to configure your applet
    differently, or install the Net8 Connection Manager. See the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide for more
    information (exact location of applet info depends on which version of the DB).
    Creating your Applet within JDeveloper:
    1. Create a new workspace.
    2. Create a new Business Components project. You will define your data model and business logic in this
    project. This is effectively your middle tier, but can be deployed to any tier you choose. In this
    project you will use the Business Components wizard to create:
    a. entity objects for each of the tables/views you want to develop against
    b. view objects (and optionally view links, associations) for each of the entity objects or
    combination of entity objects
    c. application module(s) to represent your data model(s)
    3. Save and build your business components project.
    4. Create a new empty project to contain your applet code.
    5. Launch the Infobus DataForm wizard to create your DAC applet. Choose the app module you created in
    step 2 as a data source. (Alternately, you can create the applet from scratch using the controls and
    binding your sessioninfo object to your app module).
    Deployment Steps within JDeveloper:
    1. Deploy your business components project.
    a. decide how you will deploy your app module (local, visibroker, etc.)
    b. if you decide to deploy in local mode, use the Deployment Profile Wizard and choose 'Simple
    Archive', including all of the business components project's XML and .JAVA files in the archive.
    c. if you will deploy to visibroker, see the online help for deploying your business components,
    and see the Release Notes for additional changes you need to make to your applet project.
    2. (if deploying BC4J project in local mode) Create a library using the archive you generated in Step
    1. Add this library to your applet project from the Project Properties Libraries tab.
    3. Clear out a directory on your local machine where the deployment wizard can copy everything you
    need to deploy.
    4. Deploy your applet project.
    a. Run the JDeveloper Deployment Profile Wizard and choose the Web Application to Web Server option
    on Page 1.
    b. On page 2, select all of the .class files in your project that make up the applet.
    c. Select all the libraries listed and shuttle them to the selected list. The contents of these
    libraries will automatically be added to your applet's HTML file during deployment
    d. Give the .jar file a name, and run the deployment to generate that jar file.
    e. select the location of the 'clean' directory you created in step 3.
    Deploying to your WebServer:
    1. Copy everything that the deployment process placed in your 'clean' directory to your WebServer.
    If you deployed your BC4J project locally, you will need to deploy the archive file containing your
    business components to the webserver along with all of the other archives.
    2. If you want to put the dependency archives in a different location from the applet's HTML file
    under the webserver root, then you need to set the CODEBASE tag in the HTML file to the (relative)
    location of the archives.
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Try both Netscape and IE. Different Browsers sometimes give different errors and one might be more
    helpful/indicative of the problem's source.
    2. Use the Java Console to get a more detailed stack trace. For Netscape, choose
    Communicator->Tools->Java Console.

  • Java web start error running Asset Editor or any jnlp page

    When I try to launch Asset Editor or Import/Export or any of the jnlp pages that runs using Java Web Start, I get an error. Java 7 Web start starts but It throws “Could not connect to Server. Please check your Java Web Start and Browser proxy settings”.
    I read conflicting opinions on the internet as to what version of JRE/JDK is needed and potentially some issues running Java Web start with Java 7. I have 64-bit java 1.7.0_45 JDK/JRE installed and no other version. I tried installing 32-bit 1.7.0_45 as well. I have tried to run it from 32-bit as well as 64-bit browser also. All situations provide the same error.
    However, when I install JRockit, it seems to work fine. But we cannot use jrockit. We have to use IBM JDK/JRE 7 eventually. Currently, the java web start does not work on Oracle Java as well as IBM JRE.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    I found a solution for this problem. We have to apply patch 17634436.
    https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/ui/patch/PatchDetail.jspx?_afrLoop=149081897091441&patchId=17634436&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=xfsajjmff_74
    Just thought it will be useful for anyone encountering this problem.

    I gave it a try and got the same error. Then I started looking at the code:
    When you create a new file, the program starts looking for a font which supports japanes (don't ask me why). If it doesn't find any it throws the error you posted above. I was able to create a new file after I installed ttf-bitstream-cyberbit from AUR (first font supporting japanese I could find).
    You should contact the author and submit a bug report. Even if the program really needs japanese fonts, which I doubt, failing like this is just bad.

  • Discoverer 9iASv2: does not run, produces java errors

    Hi,
    I am evaluating Discoverer9ias v2 for my company. We have set up 9iAs infrastructure on a Win2K box, with the main 9ias BI and Forms on another Win2K box.
    After installing everything, the disco plus demo ran fine for a few hours. After that the 9ias admin website and the demo stopped responding. A reboot of main 9ias box was required to fix this. And on the main 9ias servers admin website, the discoverer status always appears as unknown.
    We added a few public connections. The last public connection I tried to define had only the databse service name in it. I was trying to find out if Disco Plus will prompt the user for a userid/password. On clicking 'Apply' I got a Java error. I don't know if the connection got created or not. Since then, Discoverer is NOT WORKING AT ALL!
    The demo url produces this error:

    9ias Restarts and reboots have not helped. The Discoverer Services Configuration page on the 9ias admin website has a 'General Discoverer' option for creating and changing connections. But, clicking on this link also produces an error, even though 'Discoverer Viewer' and 'Discoverer Portlet Provider' links seem to work fine. This is the error:

    A few tips creating a public connection:
    1) Always use capital letters when typing a EUL name
    2) Never leave blank userid or password when defining public connections.
    Althought these are fixed in the up coming patch, you just need to follow the tips for the 9.0.2.39

    Thank you dvohra21,
    I followed Gayaz solution and it worked on my jdev11.2.3
    1. Modified the TEMP and TMP env var from "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp" to "c:\temp".
    We should created the temp folder in c directry if it does not exist.
    2. Created two more env variables
    (a) JDEV_USER_HOME
    (b) JDEV_USER_DIR
    and it is pointing to "C:\jdevhome".
    We should created the jdevhome folder in c directry if it does not exist.
    Finally what I observed is these four variable should point to a folder path where it should not contain spaces in the folders name.

  • Getting class not found error running java application using OIM libraries

    Hi,
    I have created a java application in which I access OIM libraries to fetch user list and then assign user roles. As i run the application it generates exception and program crashes. Hi,
    I resolved the problem by making spring.jar part of my executable jar file. I have added oimclient.jar, spring.jar, wlfullclient.jar, commons-logging.jar, and eclipselink.jar part of my executable jar. Now I am getting the error below. I googled it and it mentioned that i should add path of authwl.conf in my run configuration in eclipse. So i added the following line in " -Djava.security.auth.login.config=/u01/oracle/Middleware/Oracle_IDM1/server/CustomExec/authwl.conf " under the VM Arguments section of run configuration, but it continues to give the same error.

  • Java SDK - error running demo on OS X

    I'm trying to run the java calendar demo using the 9.0.4 developer package on OS X/Darwin (10.3.2)with Java 1.4.2_03. It compiles fine, but I get an error when I run it. Below are the environment variables and error messages.

    The file in the OS X distribution is libcsdkjni.jnilib. I tried the demo on Solaris, and it does work there. The Solaris distribution has a libcsdkjni.so file. How should I resolve the difference on the OS X distribution?

  • Java API error  running Photo Album application (oracle 9i)

    I am trying the compile and run the Photo Album application

    ordim.zip with ordim817.zip and ordhttp.zip with ordhttp817.zip

    The Note worries me. If you only replaced ordim.zip and
    ordhttp.zip with ordim817.zip and ordhttp817.zip, and the app ran
    successfully, this means you were using 817 version of JDBC
    classes12.zip and 817 verion of SQLJ runtime12.zip. But you said
    you were trying to use the oracle 9i.
    Please put Oracle 9i version JDBC classes12.zip, 9i SQLJ
    runtime12.zip, 9i interMedia ordim.zip and ordhttp.zip in the
    CLASSPATH. Then, recompile and run. Hope this will solve the
    problem.

  • JVM SIGSEGV error running Java 1.5.0_01 on linux

    Three times last week we had the JVM come down hard with a SISSEGV error running our web application. Each crash was on a different machine. The offending thread was always in libnet.so shared library handling either a getHostByAddr() or getLocalHostName() call. I included a portion of one of the JVM dumps below. In the other two cases we are in either an Oracle JDBC driver or a SQL Server JDBC driver (tds).
    We are not able to issolate and reproduce this problem at will. This is happening in our QA environment and we are planning to go to production soon. Any ideas or information would be most helpful.
    We've just decided to upgrade to Java 1.5.0_04 in the hope it might help this problem. Too early to tell if this is making a difference or not.
    The JVM is running Tomcat 5.5.9.

    j org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Processor.prepareRequest()V+794

    So, we started getting this problem again in production (on 1.5.0_06, even).
    Following up on Dan Paum's report, I dug around a little deeper:
    ~/java/old/java/net$ javap Inet4AddressImpl
    Compiled from "Inet4AddressImpl.java"
    class java.net.Inet4AddressImpl extends java.lang.Object implements java.net.InetAddressImpl{
    java.net.Inet4AddressImpl();
    public native java.lang.String getLocalHostName() throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public native byte[][] lookupAllHostAddr(java.lang.String) throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public native java.lang.String getHostByAddr(byte[]) throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public synchronized java.net.InetAddress anyLocalAddress();
    public synchronized java.net.InetAddress loopbackAddress();
    public boolean isReachable(java.net.InetAddress, int, java.net.NetworkInterface, int) throws java.io.IOException;
    Both anyLocalAddress() and loopbackAddress() are synchronized, but not getLocalHostName(). The native code for getLocalHostName() calls gethostbyaddr_r in lieu of synchronization. gethostbyaddr_r is a non-standard, non-portable call that, judging from a brief trawl through Google, has historically been problematic for multi-platform code.
    I'm guessing this bug is another such problem.
    I extracted Inet4AddressImpl.java from src.zip in the JDK, changed the declaration, compiled, and "updated" the modified version into lib/rt.jar:
    ~/java/new/java/net$ javap Inet4AddressImpl
    Compiled from "Inet4AddressImpl.java"
    class java.net.Inet4AddressImpl extends java.lang.Object implements java.net.InetAddressImpl{
    java.net.Inet4AddressImpl();
    public synchronized native java.lang.String getLocalHostName() throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public native byte[][] lookupAllHostAddr(java.lang.String) throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public native java.lang.String getHostByAddr(byte[]) throws java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public synchronized java.net.InetAddress anyLocalAddress();
    public synchronized java.net.InetAddress loopbackAddress();
    public boolean isReachable(java.net.InetAddress, int, java.net.NetworkInterface, int) throws java.io.IOException;
    So far, so good. I will stress test this over the next few days, and if it works, I'll open a bug in the bug database to get this fixed.
