  • Error-Specify a value for variable

    Dear All,
We upgraded our BW system to BI 7 SP 15. We are getting following error when executing queries in Bex.
Specify a value for variable Company Code
        Message no. BRAIN629
    Diagnosis
The variable cannot be empty. You must make an entry in the variable
        maintenance for variable Company Code.
    System Response
    Procedure
Enter a value. Use the search help (F4) if necessary.
    Procedure for System Administration
Interesting thing is that this error is faced by only 2 users in all upgarded systems.
We created test user with same roles and we are getting error for these test users as well. All other users can run these queries without any problem. When we gave them sap_allprofile, it worked but I dont think this an authorization issue as these user can execute reports in web without any error.
Second interesting thing is that, I applied note 1085822. This solved the problem. But on next day while closing this issue formally we found it is not working again and giving the same error.
I checked other notes but these are not suitable for SP15.
Any pointer/help will be well appreciated.

  • Positive Value only Display or Edit Pattern

Hello, could someone please explain how I can prevent a negative result in a calculation field? i.e., a result less than zero. In other words, how can I ensure that users only enter positive values in a numeric field, and that the subsequent simple "subtract" calculation will also remain positive?
    Harry

THANKS NASSIA, this works for disallowing negatives by force, however it gives me script failed alert.
Would you know how to suppress "Script Failed" alerts, such as this:
Script failed (language is formcalc; context is
    xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].SF_CalculationTable[0].acview[1])
    script=(ac[1] / tr[1]) * 100
    Error: arithmetic over/underflow.
    . (+ 25 more...)
These seem to be only happening because the field is not yet populated, (except with zeros). How do I suppress this error, because the form works fine.

  • Display only positive values for a particular Keyfigure

    Hi..
(Sorry, I accidentally posted this also in Datawarehousing forum, actually it related to BeX forum).
For a particular column(keyfigure) in my report, the user wants to display only positive values.
I used the formula from the one of the forums
    (Keyfig > 0)* Keyfig.
This displays only positive values in the column as required. But, the result for this column is also affected. As the result is negative, it shows, zero in the result for this column.
Is there a way in which the result will not be affected by the formula?
I went into the properties of the particular keyfigure and chose Calculate Result as -> Summation.
It throws out the following error message
'Calculating result as...' was not executed
    Message no. BRAIN141
    Diagnosis
The function 'Calculate Results as ...' could not be used in all
    instances.
The recalculation of a result cell always occurs based on the set of
detailed cells subordinated to this cell. This is the most detailed
level of the drilldown. Therefore it is not posible to recalculate in
hierarchical lists. The calculation of a results cell is not performed
if a cell or column with an expand symbol is assigned beneath it.
Otherwise the newly calculated result is changed every time one of its
lower-level nodes is expanded. This is not supported for technical
reasons and would also only confuse users.
Note, however, that calculating with "Suppress Results" is always
executed because the restriction described above does not apply in this
    case.
    NOTE:
The query shows the keyfigure values for a selected title, for profit center and territory hierarchies.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

    Hi Deepu,
Thanks for the reply. I tried with ur formula.
LEAF(keyfig) gives all values "zero" for that particular column including the result.
NOT LEAF(keyfig) gives all values "one" for that particular column including the result.
So, ur formula gives the same values as of the present column values.

  • Cubeset to only return positive values?

Yet another cube formula question... In Excel 2010, no powerpivot or olap pivottable extensions, this is a pure Excel project.
I am building various cubeset, cubemember, and cubevalue formulas to validate an ETL process.
    Question:
I need to create a cubeset that only returns the members of a cube that have positive values for a specific measure. This cubeset will then be one of several cubesets that gets fed into a cubevalue formula that would otherwise exceed the 255 char limit.
I can create a cubeset for the overall measure:
    =CUBESET("MyCube","[Measures].[RetailPrice]")
but haven't found the right syntax for limiting results to only those that have positive values, I think it would be something like:
    =CUBESET("MyCube","FILTER[Measures].[RetailPrice],[Measures].[RetailPrice]>0")
This syntax actually doesn't return an error, so maybe it is valid syntax... but when I wrap it in a simple cubevalue statement,
=CUBEVALUE("MyCube", A2)       where A2 is the Cubeset above, or if I also add date range and other filters,
I get a #Value error, indicating that "the tuple is invalid" per
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/excel-help/cubevalue-function-HA010342391.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA010342384
I'm still a newbie with the cubeformula syntax and MDX, so I appreciate any suggestions!

    Hi Rohit-
The cube has a net value of 1220 for the measure I'm trying to calculate (when I don't filter on > or < zero).
I tried my formula both ways (looking for just positive, and just negative values) and while both work in the standalone cubeset formula, neither return a value when I use it in a cubevalue formula.
My suspicion, other than a syntax error, is that this may have something to do with me trying to filter on the measure value(s), instead of a dimension- which I think must be possible, but again maybe not with this syntax.
Let's assume that we had a total of 1280 in retail price, but due to a few returns, we have a few records that show value of -60. If we were looking at profitability, the 1220 is what matters. If we are looking at "dollars exchanged" as a variable expense
driver of some other measure, then we'd actually want the absolute value of retail price (1280+60 = 1340). I hadn't been able to get the MDX ABS to work, so this was my attempt to grab the positive and negative numbers separately, and then add them to get
    the equivalent of ABS.
In this case, slicers aren't a desirable option due to how the report is being constructed (I've used slicers in other reports with cubeformulas, but with Excel 2010 I have to have an extra pivot table to get the slicer value, which then has to get fed into my
cubeform and I'm back at step 1, getting it to work in the cubeformula syntax)
    Thanks!

  • Error Missing parameter values - I get this in 11g app server only

Hi.. I had an application in JSP-Struts, previously on 10g app server.  I now migrated the code into 11g.
I get the error on CrystalViewer.jsp
    Error
    Missing parameter values
Steps that lead up to the error:
The very first time anyone enters the application and clicks a submit button on the jsp, after entering data and/or picking from drop menus, the error shows up on a separate page (thrown by crystalViewer.jsp)
When I get this error, and click the browsers back button, and simply click the submit button on the jsp screen again, the reports work fine (like they do in 10g).
    Tried the following:
I used log4j and followed the data as it made its way from Struts to Crystal Factory.  But once it gets out of Struts, and forwards to Crystal, I receive the error from the CrystalViewer.jsp
Next, I removed code in struts-action, that used crystal factory to 'set parameter', and didnt send any parameters, letting my crystal report bring back some random records.. And this works even the first submit!  So the problem is only when I have to send parameters to crystsl
    Additional info:
I do not send any null values across, since I read on these forums that folks were having issues with setting nulls etc... I check for null and then force 'All' in the parameter if the user does not enter data or pick from the drop-down.
I need help resolving this . Thanks and have a great day.
(Are there any changes to be made to the Struts config, or any additions to Web.xml? Should Crystal reports be changed in anyway so they can function like they did in 10g?)

The Crystal SDK doesn't know or care that you're using Struts.
The exception is stating you're not setting parameters.
So wherever you're trying to set parameters, whatever's reaching the viewer don't have them set.
Why not trace the workflow to see what's where?
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

The most likely explanation is that you have a numeric attribute whose data type precision is less than that of the column it is mapped to. For example if you had an attribute with data type NUMBER(2) and you mapped it to a column with data type NUMBER(5), then you could get this error on load. Note that some of the attributes may not be visible in AWM. The offending SQL statement should be in the OUTPUT column of the CUBE_BUILD_LOG, but you may be able to fix this by just describing the view associated with the dimension. For example, here is the description of a TIME view created in 11.2..

I had this in the SD forum however someone suggested to go to the MM forum.  Here is my issue
I am receiving an error when trying to receive our demo unit in as an inbound receipt off of an RMA (this is our normal process when we send a demo unit to customer).
The error message is "No special stock defined for value only material" I noticed that the MRP views were not extended so i tried to extend those and it still gives the same error message in our testing client and also created a new RMA to see if same error exists and it does, please advise
NOTE:  In our Accounting 1 tab we are not utilizing the valuation category in the Accounting 1 tab of the material master.  RMA is a Return of a material for service.  Our Demo units after issued to customer for a demo come back using this method to check and service if needed before putting into stock.  Material does not have a procurement tab as this is considered as an asset.  No split valuation.

    Dear Kimberly
Issue:No special stock defined for value only material
This mesaage will come up when you have active the valuation category for the material in Accounting 1 view
but not  extend the valuation type for that material, due to this reason syestem is not able to find out  the exact valuation for the material,   You can opt for 2  suggestion
1 Extend the material in  t. code. MM01 for the right valuation type
2 If you dont want to  use Valuation category ( if you dont want the split valuation for the material) you fst settle the all Open PO and quantity for that material  and  then archieve the material and recreate again

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Sudha,
It probably have to do with how you defined the field.
    Is Null value allowed?
    What are the field definitions?

But why did this error come and after keeping the above property why did this error go away ?
Can anyone help me on this.....

You have an error in the code:
    1. you don't provide a value for 'what' - you have to tell Oracle what it should execute when it submits the job.
And remember - with ISUBMIT the next_date parameter has datatype VARCHAR2 - SUBMIT uses datatype DATE. So make sure you provide a VARCHAR2 value and do not rely on implicit conversion.
