Error trying to Connect to WSE 2012 R2 with Connector Software - The server is not available

I had to completely reset my MS Surface Pro 3 due to virus activity, so it was wiped and reinstalled. It had previously connected to the Server without
hiccup. Ever since doing this I cannot reconnect using the SERVERNAME\Connect process - it continually fails. I have reviewed the forums and web for a week trying different solutions to no avail. I would appreciate it if someone could advise?
I have:
Ensured that the Connector Software update is not installed from Installed Updates
Checked the Bindings in IIS Manager against the WSS Certificate Web Service and it is set to SERVERNAME.
Ensured my time on the Client is synchronised
Tried connecting using the original PC-Name and when that didn't work, I have tried a new name and removed the old device from the server.
I have ensured that I am on a Workgroup.
The install process finds the server sets up connector and asks for my network user name and password and then continues for a fair time until it
comes back with the error”:
"The server is not available/ Try connecting this computer again, of for more information, see Troubleshoot connecting computers to the server.”
I am not sure how much of the log to include as it all doesn’t fit:

I am running a Telstra ADSL modem with a separate Cisco router and Netgear Switch.
I would appreciate any help I can get please as I am a novice and do not understand a lot about the certificate and DNS errors.

Would you please try manually set the DNS address on client NIC to the IP of your server, then try run the connector again?

  • The server is not available error when synci

    Hi,
When click the sync manager in Vista x64 I get the error box "The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists". Does anyone know how to sort this out as it used to work on Vista ok but has stopped in the past few weeks?
    Thanks in advance
    Mike

Under the sync manager go to Player Settigns->"Your Device" and check to see what is setup to sync. I would guess that the settings for synchronizing "Organizer data" is checked and that its trying to contact microsoft outlook (or other email program) to synchronize contact and calendar info. But that is just a guess. Its the only reason I can think of why you would get an error about not being able to contact a server.

  • Windows Server 2012 Foundation, in a Workgroup - "The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller"...

Every few days we see two dialogs with the following messages:
Dialog 1, title: Check for Licensing Compliance is Incomplete
The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller.
Dialog 2, title: Check for Licensing Compliance is Incomplete
The server did not finish checking the license compliance. If the server is joined to a domain, make sure that the server can connect to a domain controller. If the license compliance check cannot be completed, the server will automatically shut
    down in 8 day(s) 23 hour(s) 0 minute(s).
The server is not (and never has been) joined to a domain or had any DC roles installed. In fact its still connected to the default Workgroup.
The server was configured in our office and never showed this message until it was installed on site. The main difference from what I can see is that when installed on site it was given a static IP address and does not have any DNS settings in the network
    adapter properties.
I have scoured a number of forums on this error but in almost every other instance of this error message the servers are connected to a Domain Controller and the solutions generally are linked to dis-joining and rejoining the domain. Unfortunately this is
not an option for this scenario.
I initially thought that adding some relevant DNS server IP address may resolve the issue, however, we have the exact same model server configured exactly the same running at a different site that does not experience this problem. This server also has no
    DNS server configured.
I have seen a post that suggests turning off the servers "Foundation Checking", but I'm unsure how to do this.

    Thanks for your response Vivian.
I can confirm that this server is not (and never has been) a member of any active directory, it is configured as a Workgroup server. It was initially configured on a network that does have an active directory, but was never joined to it. During that time it
    never displayed these messages.
The server was moved into production on a different site and network and setup with a static IP address. The site network does have its own active directory but the server was not joined to it. It is whilst on this new network that these messages began.
Since my original post DNS servers have been added and the Microsoft activation has been verified, however, the messages are still appearing.
There are only 2 user accounts configured on this server. The local admin account and another local admin user.
The remote desktop services roles have been installed but not yet configured. I don't think that has any bearing on this scenario though.
The description of this error in the above "Introduction to Windows Server 2012 Foundation" link states:
This error occurs when the server cannot finish checking the requirements for the root domain, forest trust configuration, or both. It usually happens when the server cannot connect to a domain controller. If the situation persists, the server will
shut down 10 days after the first time the compliance check failed. Each time this error message occurs, it will state the actual time remaining before the server will shut down. If you restart the server after it has shut down because of non-compliance, the
server will shut itself down again in 3 days.
The above description leads me to the following question - In a Workgroup environment, does the server still try to contact a domain controller to establish a level of trust? If this is the case could it be that the server can no longer see the initial DC
on its new network and this is what is triggering the messages?
Am I clutching at straws here?

  • Receive a "Server is Not Available" error when trying to connect win 7 pro PC to Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 Domain via Connector

I am trying to connect Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 Computers to a Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 domain and I receive the following error: "The server is not available.  Try connecting to this computer again, or for more information, see Troubleshoot
connecting computers to the server."  I have tried all of the steps in the Microsoft technet article "http://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj635102.aspx" and still am receiving this error.  A little background on this specific case...
All of these computers were already attached to a different Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 domain.  They have all been taken off the existing domain and added to a workgroup.  I have uninstalled the Server Essentials 2012 Connector and deleted
all log files.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  This is an urgent issue...  Thanks in advance all!

Would you be willing to run this script on your server?

im not sure what to do next - can anyone help?
    im running OSX 10.7.4

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • "Error" Trying to connect to.......

"Error" trying to connect to Infinitum9342
This message appears since i installed the update of airport for my Macbook C2D when trying to connect to the internet. (my litlte internet box)
I dont know how to name that thing in english, so i will just describe it, is a litle box, where i can connect ethernet cables or where i can connect wifi devices (such as my mac) rith now i just plug a ethernet cable to my macbook so i can get to the internet, but i loved using wi-fi, it just worked maravously for the past months in this mac, but now with the new update is all gone...and i dont know what to do!!!, the problem will be the next week
because i dont know if my computer will connect on other wifi connections (such as the one that is in my school, or work, or public places) and i need to use it for work and stuff.... and i cannot take a thernet cable everywhere, and i dont think there are public places to just connect a ethernet cable.
SO has anyone found a soultion for this kind of error? before the problem i used the ten digits (WAP) password of my "litle internet box" to connect but it dosnt works anymore.
Or can i just go back to the previous update of airport? or what can i do???
    HELLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks a lot

well, WEP requires either a 5 or 13 character ASCII-password, or a 10 or 26 character hexadecimal password. WPA and WPA2 can take just about any password.
You could temporarily try disabling all encryption just to see if it works. Then hit the manual for your wireless router and see if you can get wpa2,wpa or wep working.
    Good luck,
    Martin

  • Icloud encountered an error trying to connect to the server.

When I try to sign in to my iCloud through iCloud.com I get this error: "icloud encountered an error trying to connect to the server.". However, at the same time I can  login with my different Apple IDs. It seems to me the problem is with this account. For sure I have already verified my account and I enter the correct password
For further info, My iMac also cannot sync anything with the cloud. Meaning that, Also Im not able to manage my iCloud in system preference neither.
Does anyone have any idea?! Could you please help me out if you know whats wrong?

If it only does it at work, then the most likely reason is that your work network is blocking it, or one of the servers iCloud connects to.
Have you asked the IT people at work? Checked it on another computer at work?

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.
