Error w/Dreamweaver 8 on Mac Browser Preferences
Using Dreamweaver 8 on a Macintosh G5 (not an intel mac). We
just installed this version of Dreamweaver 8 onto a Macintosh
computer and everytime we open Dreamweaver 8, we receive the
following error message:
"Unable to read preview in browser preferences. Please remove
all browsers from the list and add them again."
When we remove all of the browsers from the preview browser
preferences, then close and reopen DreamWeaver, we receive the same
error and all of the browsers are listed in the preview browser
preferences. When we remove one browser from the preview browser
preferences and replace it, Dreamweaver crashes after the browser
is selected. Any ideas? Any suggestions.
We did update to Dreamweaver 8.02, problem still happens.
Also tried trashing preferences and problem still happens.
I have started having the same problem . . . just since
yesterday. What's the deal?

Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OS 10.4.11 Incompatability
I have been using Dreamweaver CS3 under OS 10.4.10 for a few
months without significant issues... but after upgrading to 10.4.11
there is a significant problem.
I am unable to access any of my remote servers to upload
files to the sites I have built.
I was able to reinstall Dreamweaver 8 and it works fine with
all the same setups
I've read a technote on a noted problem with Dreamweaver CS3
and Mac OS 10.5 - but it also appears to happen on 10.4.11
You can read the 10.5 technote here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402780I have not experienced this problem. Try removing the DW CS3
preferences file in your Library and then let DW build a new one.
BTW, what error you are getting when you try to FTP? -
Dreamweaver view different than browser view.
I'm doing my best to learn HTML and CSS, but am a relative newbie.
I have my new homepage working in all the browsers I've tried (and Mac and PC), but it looks terrible in Dreamweaver which makes it very difficult to edit. What am I doing wrong? Since the page renders fine in all the browsers I've tested, I don't know where to start. Any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated.
The page is here:

TIAStart by validating your code and fix reported errors. DW isn't a browser so it's much less forgiving of errors in your code. HINT: You have the <body> tag incorrectly nested above the </head> tag.
http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fskyhoundz.com%2F
Also keep in mind that since DW isn't a browser, Design View isn't 100% perfect. Use Live View and Preview in browsers to check layout changes.

This browser no longer exists at the location specified in the preview in browser preferences
I am creating a new website using Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014. I tried to preview it in Chrome and I received an error message saying, "This browser no longer exists at the location specified in the Preview in Browser preferences." It previews fine in IE. I use Chrome as my default, but I personally have not gone in and reset anything so I don't understand why this is happening since I created my last Dreamweaver site. Any ideas how I can fix this?
JenniferOkay, thank you. Inside Dreamweaver, I selected Edit Browser List and then it opened to show Chrome F12 and Internet Explorer. I chose Chrome F12 and I got the following responses in the screenshots below. I don't know what to do about the final image error message.

Starting on 2/19/2013 each time my antivirus software scans my computer (Daily), various Firefox browser preferences are being reset. (It appears Firefox may be being reset to default.) My home page is being reset to mozilla etc...
I have reset Firefox, un-installed and re-installed Firefox to no avail.
Each time the computer is scanned my browser preferences are lost.
The system info follows:
Windows 7 pro 64 bit
AVG antivirus 2013 current build.
Firefox v19.I've got the exact same problem. Even got the same error message as esmer when viewing the prefs script. Seems to happen every morning after AVG runs my daily scan. I hate having to redo everything each morning (been happening for a couple of days now). I'd hate to have to stop using either programs.

Help! I just need to correct one small bit of text, and I cannot see buying a newer version to do such a small thing. That is not the same situation. I had the same error today after restoring a Time Machine backup on a new drive. I'm using Os 10.8.5 and CS4 worked just fine with it before the restoration. Here is some help...which so far hasn't worked for me, but it might work for you. ;-)

Help with Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac
I am a long time user of Dreamweaver CS 5.5 for PC and recently purchased an IMac. I have a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac and am having difficulty displaying an html file in Live View. I always used "Preview in Browser" in CS 5.5 and need this same feature. I have an active site that I imported into CS6 and the site uses templates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Who uses Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac OS X?
Howdy,
I'm curious to know how many of you here use Dreamweaver CS3
on the Mac? Not bothered bout you Windows users, I've used it on
there and it's fine (although bulky and slow).
I made the switch to mac a long while back, and coming from
Windows and HomeSite (oh how much I love homesite!!!) the natural
move was to go to Dreamweaver. So I bought a retail copy (along
with PhotoShop CS3) for quite a bit of cash, and I don't use CS3 as
its pretty damn awful on OSX!
By the way, I NEVER touch the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver
(wish I could delete all WYSIWYG stuff from it, as that what slows
it down I'm sure)
To name a few bugs (I'd like to know if you experience these
too):
1. It's very slow and bulky, I mean just moving the cursor to
a new line in code view is slow, just doesn't feel good. It
actually feels like its about to crash on me any minute! And I'm on
a 6GB 8 cOre 2.8GHz Mac Pro... so its not my Mac :)
2. I set my toolbars up to my own preference (i.e. I like to
have the "Standard" menu showing and the "Document" one not) then
suddenly out of the blue "Standard" has gone and the "Document" one
is there. Sometimes I boot up and all is good, open a document and
it disappears (along with the line numbers on the left), right
clicking says its still there but it isn't.
3. Certain folders on the left file view REFUSE to close! I
collapse them, open another folder up (uncollapse) and what do you
know, the other folder pops open again. Close and open dreamweaver
its open again... I've never manged to close this particular
folder, dreamweaver really likes it for some reason?
There are plenty more, but they are the main ones!
The unfortunate thing is I cannot find a good alternative on
OS X for syntax highlighting, the fact that HTML elements are
coloured differently is invaluable to me, and thats one of the main
things I love bout Dreamweaver (not to mention the global replace
feature that other IDE's don't include)?
Bring HomeSite to OS X is what I say :)
What is your experience of DW CS3 on OS X? Does it all work
correclty for you? Or are you annoyed by it too?

I plotted my escape from Microsoft for years before I finally
knew
enough about software and the technologies I was using and
had
sufficient money to make the leap. (I went for a top of the
line MacBook
Pro.)
On the negative side, I've learned that the Mac isn't a free
ride.
Upgrading to Leopard was a wrestling match, as was upgrading
to Adobe
Creative Suite (largely because certain sales people sold me
the wrong
upgrade package - twice). I'm also bothered by a number of
annoyances
that sometimes remind me of my Windows PC.
However, I'm working with a far greater variety of software
programs
than I ever had on my PC, and the annoyances seldom turn into
the minor
catastrophes that made life with M$ living Hell.
So far, Dreamweaver is working fine for me. The biggest
annoyance is the
fact that it likes to jump back and forth between "Spaces,"
though
Spaces remains my favorite Leopard feature.
I'm sorry you're having problems with yours - and I was
shocked to hear
that that Rosetta crap also applies to Dreamweaver. I'd never
heard of
Rosetta until I had some problems with my browsers. Enabling
Rosetta
fixed the problem, but, sheez - all that Rosetta business
sounds like
something that came straight from Bill Gates' living room. So
I'm not
sure if the problem ultimately rests with Adobe, Mac OS X or
both.
Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the situation to
advise you.
However, if you live near a sizeable Apple store, schedule an
appointment with their "Mac Geniuses." I've gone in to see
them at 7
a.m. a couple times - free of charge - and they were a big
help.
If you're using Leopard, I assume you've already installed
the two
updates - 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. Ironically, the second update
appeared to
create one of the very problems it's supposed to eliminate.
(Whether or
not it's actually a problem is a matter of debate in the Mac
community;
it hasn't actually caused any problems for me.)
You might also try posting some questions on Apple's forums -
http://discussions.apple.com.
If nothing works, and you do go back to M$, I certainly
wouldn't hold it
against you. If Apple and/or Adobe don't have their act
together, then
you can't blame people for returning to a platform that
works. However,
I have much greater confidence in both Apple and Adobe to fix
their
problems in the long run than I do in Microsoft. Even if you
get
Dreamweaver to work on your PC, will your other software
programs work?
In summary, I've learned that there's no free ride in
computing. But I
still prefer my Mac to M$, and I don't believe I've heard as
many
complaints about Dreamweaver on a Mac as I have about Vista.
But do
whatever's best for you.

Che soluzione posso avere?
Graziehi hughestl,
Can you please try upgrading from 10.7.2 to to 10.7.x where x is the latest version,or at least 10.7.3 on which NSBackingPropertyOldScaleFactorKey is supported. NSBackingPropertyOldScaleFactorKey is not supported on 10.7.2.

Do you mean you want to move a website from PC to Mac or Dreamweaver from PC to Mac.
As far as I'm aware you can't move Dreamweaver from one platform to another.
You can move websites built on the PC in Dreamweaver to a Mac or vice-versa.
All you would do is copy the websites site root folder onto a mobile storage device like a memory stick or portable hard drive or cd. You could even email over the site folder to the other computer if its not that bigger site.
Once onto the other computer (which presumably has Dreamweaver installed) all you would do is define where the site folder is located>Site>New Site>Give it a name> browse to the folder and select it. Thats it! -
I was having trouble sending to hotmail accounts from my Earthlink account, they had me go into Mac Mail preferences and make changes (because they claimed it was Mac Mail's fault, even though the hotmail error code said it's because Earthlink is blocked by hotmail), now Mac Mail doesn't work AT ALL - any help changing the settings back to correct Mac Mail settings? I can provide a transcript of the entire tech chat session, if that will help...
both apostrophes are used correctly, thanks
doesn't = does not (this is called a contraction)
it's = it is
Mac Mail's fault = possessive
any help with the actual issue? thanks!
