Error when user hits Cancel in File Dialog Box

Error 43 occurs when the user hits cancel about saving a file. I have a simple state machine, and when the user hits "RUN", the dialog box comes up. What if they change their mind? I have tried to use the "exception code" in the General Error Handler for Error 43 but I still end up with an error message or my VI stopping.
Are there any templates for VIs that save your data only when you press a "SAVE" button, or either that don't freak out if you hit Cancel?
p.s. I have LabVIEW 6.1.

Hey, I got the same problem, Error 43 when cancel button is clicked, as I was going through one of the examples from "LabView for Everyone" book. I downloaded the Cancelled.vi example and constructed a case structure for it. However, the problem still occurs. When i ran highlight execution for the cancelled.vi example, as the cancel button is pressed the file dialog goes through and sends out boolean value of the cancel status. But for the file I'm working with, the boolean value is not send when cancel button is entered. File dialog sends out an error before the values are send out... Can someone explain? Thanks.

Contrary to the rest of the nice folk here, I say do NOT turn off automatic error handling!
You will regret it if a day comes where you forgot to handle an error properly and you have a hard time determining its source.
If you truly want to ignore the error in this mode, you can wire the error out terminal into anything (even a wall). Once an error out terminal is wired, the error will not pop up automatically. This does not mean you should use this as a standard course of action. You should normally handle your errors properly.

Need to know how records can be deleted from a talbe when user hits cancel report

In my report I am inserting some records in to a table in the before report trigger and deleting in after report trigger.
If the user hits the cancel report when the report is processing the records in the records never gets deleted from the table.
If anyone knows how this can be done, please help me.

If your database is 8.1.6, you can try to use temporary tables. The data inside them is automatically deleted when the session (report) ends.
Also the data is private for each session, so no other user can see the data you have in the temporary table.
Did you think about the situation when two users will run the report at the same time? How are you handling this (the fact that their data may be scrambled...) The Oracle temporary table eliminates this possibility.

When I hit the escape key to close out the open file dialog box, firefox hangs or crashes.

When I open the "open file" dialog box using the ctrl+O and then hit the escape key to exit the box, I get an error message which I'm not able to paste here.
it says something about a runtime problem and if I try the same thing again to reproduce the problem, it will sometimes just hang and windows vista will tell me the program is not responding.
I've checked to see if there are any crash IDs but none were found for this time frame.
I have even disabled all add ons.
I'm currently using vista 64 bit edition and Firefox 6, beta edition.

Anyway to bring up a file dialog box on a remote panel

A user is requesting a file dialog box to be opened. The problem is his program is on a remote system, and I'm utilizing remote panels to bring the app to his control console. File dialogs don't seem to work, for mostly obvious reasons. Other dialog boxes appear just fine. Is there anyway to provide a file dialog box of the remote panel's computer's file structure? Or do I need to build in the feature?

Doing a search on "remote panel file dialog" gave me a bunch of hits.

Suppressing error 8 occurred at open file dialog box

Hello,
I am getting randomly occurring "error 8 occurred at open file" dialog
boxes every couple of days. This is stopping all of the data collection
on all of the vi's on the pc. In order to continue all that is needed
to hit continue. Is there a way to suppress this dialog box?

There's a vi called Clear Error, in the Dialog and User Interface section of the palette. If you wire the error out of the offending vi to the error in of the clear error, your problem should be solved.
Technically I think you can wire the error out to just about anything that ends (as in, to the side of a case structure or loop or something, so long as nothing is connected to it further). I think as long as LV thinks that you've handled the error (i.e. wired anything out of the error out), the dialog box does not come up.

Having the same problem in CS6. I can tell you that converting back to CS4 will NOT solve the problem. It seems when support for backward compatibility is discontinued, there's just no way to get

The guy who wrote this code is no longer with the company
the server IP got changed and he had an IP coded in the program
i managed to uncompile the code
i changed the IP to the new one
when I tryed to create the class file i get the error
so as far as what is happenning with the ex I am not sure

I would get an external drive today and copy all your stuff off the TC.. forget trying to load more onto it. There is a good chance after 3years (A 2TB should be only about 2years tops), the disk or the TC itself is on the way out. Do it immediately. If TM is also failing to backup you need to recognise symtoms of impending doom.
Unfortunately the error messages are archane and it is hard to discover their meaning.
You also cannot verify a network drive.. you can verify the TM sparsebundle though so do that.

Reboot the whole network from off.. certainly if you run later OS it can simply lose the drive..
If you still fail to be able to copy to the TC.. then get that external and copy off it. Tell us if you can do that.

Error when trying to save a file

I get this error when trying to save any file (newly created or not) word document in MS word 2010:"You are attempting to save a file type (plain text files) that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center".
I followed the directions given by the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850, but I am still having this issue. I can still save files as PDF but not in any kind of word format.
I also tried opening another file copy and pasting under a different name and it doesn't help.

I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
So, let's try this:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.

Get 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency?

I get the 'Generic Error' when attempting to import .mov files with transparency? I'm trying to use mattes with an alpha channel but I cannot import them. I have had this same issue since cs6, now I have it with cc 2014? Any clues would be most appreciated.
I have uninstalled the DVCPro Codec, but it didn't help.
I have tried converting the .mov file (which is now automatic in Yosemite) and this creates a ProRes4444 Codec, Again no luck with import.
I've seen this issue on the web, but never a solution? Anyone?

I tried iPhoto Library Manager but it could not solve my problem. Opening the iPhoto library I can see that the reference to the pictures are pointing to my old location not to the new one. I considered running a script that would change all pointers since this is basically what is needed (in my case from /Volumes/RAID1/Fotos/XXX to /Volumes/Fotos/XXX). Instead I inserted a soft unix link to make to connection but that did not work. It is referring to the airport disk by the airport name rather than the mounted disk name. Very strange indeed. The problem is maybe not in iPhoto but in OSX? Anyway, maybe the only way out is to take some hours and manually run through all linked photos... cumbersome and annoying!
