Error while load balancing two servers
i have two Solaris servers running 9iAS R2 OC4j.
current patch level is 9.0.2.3
i'm trying to load balance the instances according
to the instructions in this document:
Oracle9i Application Server: mod_oc4j Technical Overview
all i should need to do is run the command:
dcmctl addOPMNLink <IP>:<PORT>
but when i do this i get this error:
ADMN-906026
i could not find any info on this error with searches of:
Google, Google Groups, Oracle MetaLink, Oracle OTN.
ideas? suggestions? anything?
thanks,
.rich
i just tried running a "dcmctl getError", and got this:
ADMN-906026
This Oracle9iAS instance is currently using a database repository to store configuration information. The OPMN link functionality is not supported when a database repository is being used. An Oracle9iAS cluster should be created to associate Oracle9iAS instances when using a repository.
the two OC4J instances in question are associated with an Infrastructure instance on their respective servers. do i need to de-couple the OC4J instances? or create a "cluster of one" instance?
.rich

.richRich -- if you have installed the Oracle9iAS instances and associated them with the infrastructure, then you don't need to perform the manual clustering operations which are contained in the doc you reference.
By associating with the infrastructure (as the error message indicates you have done), the components should all be associated with one another and you'll be working in what we call a managed cluster mode.
If you do have the instances associated with the infrastructure, then what you need to do is use the management console (or dcmctl) to create a cluster and then add the two instances to the cluster. This will then mean that the same applications get deployed to the two instances, and will add an Oc4jMount point to OHS that will allow the incoming requests to be dispatched to the two backend instances.
There should be a guide on OTN (HA Guide, Concepts Guide) which explains the concepts behind these terms if you need.
Here's the dcmctl commands to create a cluster then add the instances to the cluster (this is from my 904 instance, I don't have a 902 instance installed)
[oracle@peterman ~]$ dcmctl -help createcluster
createCluster
Creates a managed Oracle Application Server cluster.
Note
Oracle recommends that Oracle Application Server Clusters using a file based repository contain four (4) or less than four instances.
Type
Configuration Management
Syntax
createCluster -cl cluster_name
Description
A managed cluster is created.
Notes for using createCluster:
You must issue this command in the Oracle home of an instance that
belongs to a farm (that is, is associated with a metadata repository).
The cluster will be created in that farm.
The cluster has no members when created. You can add members using
joinCluster.
You can create an unlimited number of clusters.
Example
dcmctl createCluster -cl cluster1
[oracle@peterman ~]$ dcmctl -help joincluster
joinCluster
Adds an Oracle Application Server instance to the named managed cluster.
Notes for using Oracle Application Server clusters:
Oracle Application Server supports heterogeneous instances as part of the same farm. For example, an instance running on Solaris Operating System, an instance running on a Linux system, and an instance running on an HP-UX system can reside in the same farm.
Oracle Application Server instances that you want to be part of a cluster must be installed on identical operating systems
Oracle recommends that Oracle Application Server Clusters using a file based repository contain four (4) or less than four instances.
If you are using Oracle Enterprise Manager Application Server Control, then, after issuing the dcmctl joinCluster command, you must stop and then start Oracle Enterprise Manager Application Server Control using the commands:
%emctl stop iasconsole
%emctl start iasconsole
Type
Configuration Management
Syntax
joinCluster -cl cluster_name [-i instance_name]
Description
Adds an application server instance to the managed Oracle Application Server cluster specified with the -cl option. By default, this command uses the local instance. You can specify a different instance with the -i option. The instance must be a member of the same farm as the
cluster. There is no limit to the number of instances you can add to a cluster. An instance is stopped after being added to a cluster, so you must manually start it.
Example
To add the local application server instance to cluster1 and restart
it:
dcmctl joinCluster -cl cluster1
dcmctl start
To add instance1 to cluster1 and restart it:
dcmctl joinCluster -cl cluster1 -i instance1
dcmctl start -i instance1

IDOC Adapter error while load balancing
Folks,
I am facing an issue when I am switching on Load balancing button in RFC destination while sending IDOC in sender system . The sender system shows this error in SM58
<u><b>IDoc adapter inbound channel: Error Error when rea</b></u>
Thanks,
ManishHi Manish...
This is from F1 on Traget host field in SM59..Check part in bold..
Name of target host
Name of the target host as displayed by the UNIX command 'hostname'.
<b>If you are using load balancing, the target host must be the host name
of the message server of the SAP System. This is defined in the profile
parameter 'rdisp/mshost' of the target system. If you have any further
questions, consult your system administrator. </b>
You can specify host names as
- Normal host names
- Host names in DNS format (if DNS available)
- IP addresses
- SAProuter names (in the form /H/.../S/.../H/.../S/... )
Notes
If you enter the host name (for example, hs0311) as the target host in
an RFC destination, its IP address is stored internally in the database
table RFCDES (destination administration). This speeds up the RFC
connection initiation, since the host name does not need to be converted
into its IP address.
However, problems occur if the IP address of the target host changes.
For this reason, you must adjust the RFC destinations if the IP address
of the target host changes.
If you specify the host name as a SAProuter name (/H/hs0311 instead of
hs0311), it is not converted into its correspondidng IP address.
Instead, it is stored in its SAProuter form in table RFCDES. -

Error while loading application
Hi,
I'm not sure this is the right forum, but I try anyway.
I'm trying to use a 3rd party Java application Unico (just use it, I don't develop anything of that) that after working for weeks, suddenly refuses to load at startup, and returns an error like "Error while loading application" (no error code number no other hint about the problem).
The tests that did not work: 1. I installed the Unico again, 2. I created a new login and installed Unico in that login, 3. I started in safe mode (pressing shift at startup) - I always had the same message and loading aborted.
The only workaround I found is to use an external startup disk, that I fortunately had available to face cases like this: when starting the system up from that disk Unico WORKS, not only, but I can even use the same application in my internal disk that does not load otherwise.
My first conclusion is that something wrong happened to my system on the startup disk that prevents loading a Java application. The user Library seems to make no difference.
So my questions to the Java experts are:
- what in the system could suddenly block the loading of a Java application ? where should I look in the system (I can use the terminal and know something about UNIX) to fix this ? could this be caused by a permission problem ? (it looks a lot alike, but repairing permissions in Disk Utility didn't help) if so where are the Java support files stored in the Library and System Library to check and compare between the good and the bad system ?
- is there a better workaround to this problem, other than starting up from a different disk ?
Some additional info:
- the application Unico is freely provided by the Italian tax organization, so there is basically no support to use it...
- Unico requires Java 1.3.1: my system is constantly updated/upgraded and it runs the most recent release that is 1.4.0 (I guess...) and anyway worked very well till a week ago.
- since the last time the application had worked I installed two (non Apple) packages: the TomTom (GPS navigator) setup application, and new Epson printer drivers for my new printer.
- in all cases I repaired permissions and I also verified the disk with the disk utility
- Unico does not uses printers (it creates pdf files instead) and does not use USB, which in turn is used by both the Epson driver and the TomTom app.
So I cannot connect the Unico malfunctioning to this new SW except for the fact that I cannot find any other answer...
Thanks to anybody having any suggestion about
PieroI made some research: it seems to me that most (if not all) the Java machine is in the /System/Library/Framework/JavaVM.framework folder: but I found no evident difference in the file permissions between the good and the bad system (see my previous posts).
There are other locations where there are java related files: eg in Javaconfig.plist (in /System/Library/Java) that seems to name the locations for all components of the java machine. I checked some files in /usr/bin referenced in the .plist: again no difference.
Something "could" be a clue; just before the crashing point the Unico (java) program causes a message in the Console:
"[JavaAppLauncher Warning] Specifying a specific version for JVMVersion 1.3.1 is deprecated. Use the more general 1.3* instead."
This would be a clue... except that this message appears also when the program loads without problem (in the "good" system where it works). So it is more a warning.
Another clue is the message that appears in the console in the "good" system when the Unico loads correctly; and this seems really an error message (whateve it means):
"Index 1 for 'pxm#' 2062 out of range (must be between 0 and 0)
Attempted to read past end of 'pxm#'(2062) resource"
The funny thing is that when this message appears, Unico loads with no probem, while in the "bad" system it doesn't even get to this point.
So in my opinion both messages are irrilevant to identify the problem.
Or not ?
And again my main question is: what in the system could suddenly block the loading of a Java application ?
Thanks for any hint

Error while loading shared libraries after installing cleartype fonts.
Hi there.!
Since the default fonts of Arch looked quite ugly on my LCD, I read the Fonts wiki and installed cleartype packages from AUR.But now, when I try switching to runlevel 5 (I use GDM by the way), it throws up following error:
/usr/sbin/gdm-binary: error while loading shared libraries: libcairo.so.2 : cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
I didn't edit the pkgbuilds in any way.Running "locate libcairo.so" doesn't show up anything either.
Any help guys.?Well you have two choices, use windows XP or google for 'fonts linux ugly'
or there is a search feature on this forum, it works well.
setting a right DPI will probably make your fonts look the best no matter what packages you install or ~/.fonts file you use.

Error while loading shared libraries: libjvm.so
Hi,
Hopefully, this is the right list for this problem. I am working on a computer that has Linux 2.6.20-1.2952.fc6. I am trying to deploy a program to a Sun SPOT using over-the-air functionality; however, I get the following message:
-pre-suite:
-do-suite:
[exec] /usr/java/SunSPOT/sdk/bin/squawk: error while loading shared libraries: libjvm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
BUILD FAILED
/usr/java/SunSPOT/sdk/ant/suite.xml:38: exec returned: 127When I try to locate this file, I can see it in in the following locations:
/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_02/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so
/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_02/jre/lib/i386/server/libjvm.so
How can I resolve this error?
Thanks,
Danielmake sure to include one of those two directories in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable. Probably the client directory one. And only the directoy (i.e. that path minus the libjvm.so part).

Error While loading data for LIS InfoSources.
Hi All,
I am repeatedly receiving load failure errors while loading data using 2lis_01_s001 (This is the case with all the InfoSources).
The error message is:
An error occurred in the source system.
Note
If the source system is a Client Workstation, then it is possible that the file that you wanted to load was being edited at the time of the data request. Make sure that the file is in the specified directory, that it is not being processed at the moment, and restart the request.
in our Quality system, we disabled the LIS Updation to No Update(R3) and loaded data and then again changed the Update Mode for No Updating to Asynchronous Update(R3). But now we are doing dataloading in Production. How to proceed. Should we have to disable the LIS Updating whenever we have to load the loads from R3 to BW.
Regards
JayHi Jayanthy,
Pls. check the order of the fields in the two set up tables for the S001 structure. The order of fields in both the tables should be the same.
You can see the structure in the TCode - SE11.
If the order is different, then you bneed to ask the BASIS person to change the order so that the order of fields in both the setup tables is same. This should fix the issue.
Thanks,

Load Balance HTTPS servers with redirection
Hello,
I have been tasked with ACE configuration at work as the prior go-to guy for load balancing is no longer available. Trouble is, I have little idea what I’m doing when it comes to the ACE. So, forgive me if the question I have is super basic. After doing some research I put together a LB config, but its not working.
I was trying to load balance 10 servers, split into groups of 2 using 5 VIPS (1 VIP for each group of 2 servers). The servers serve an ssl web app.
Below is my configuration. What am I doing wrong? Does the config have any glaring errors? I've been staring at this thing on and off for a week and searching these forums trying to figure it out.
Any help provided will greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your reply.
At this point I can get to the real server IP's via ping and https in a browser from my PC. I can also ping the gateway and all the real server IP's from the ACE context i'm working on. However, the VIPS are not working. When I attempt to use one of the VIPS in the browser, the request times out. When I issue the command ":show service-policy" I see a hit count (which increments every time I try and reach the VIP via the browser) but the dropped counter is equal to the hit counter. I will paste the running config from the context I’m working in along with the output from the show service-policy command.
Any suggestions on how I can get this working would be greatly appreciated.

Load Balancing Linux servers with CSS 11050 series
We would like to load balance Linux FTP and Web servers with a CSS 11050 series device. Does the content switch use SNMP to load balance the servers? If so, which MIBs need to be loaded on the servers?
I dont believe that the CSS supports any SNMP load balancing mechanism.
There is basically two factors involved in load balancing. One: the state of the servers which can be done via a range of mechanisms including ping, TCP connection, Application request, etc. Two: the way a server is chosen when a request comes in including round-robin, least connections, ACA etc.

Hi hussein,
I got error when I startup my new cloned Oracle apps 11i in OEL5.6
[appldev@oracletrng5 ~]$ ./startAPP
/bin/sh: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryOr all command line (like "ls", "cat", etc) throws this error :(
But if I am a "root" user I can run this.
Please help...
Thanks
Edited by: crystal on Feb 18, 2011 5:53 PMHi hussein,
It seems only the discoverer start script got error. The metalink notes said:
Oracle Discoverer 4i is not certified with Oracle Applications 11i since December 2006.
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Upgrade Discoverer to version 10.1.2 or later as per Note 313418.1
Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i. I think we are not using discover. Do I need to fix it?
But the start all script has status "1" at the end of run. which meant not successful.
Below is the complete log of start all script:

Ambrosiusyap. got it..
disabled SELinux then run it.
I didn't get any errors and have it up and running. Here is what I did:
Full Fedora Core 4 install with SELinux enabled (default settings). Then, after install, disable SELinux in the /etc/selinux/config file.
Thanks
Ambrosius
