That's the name of the backup device in SQL Server.

You have to create a device with SQL Server Management Console. (use the SQL Server books online).

  • Internal server error while connecting to Tandem NonStop SQL database

    Hi -
    We are trying to connect to the Tandem NonStop SQL database through JDeveloper.
    We are using Type4 JDBC driver provided by Tandem NonStop and everything works fine from Database connection to testing the AppModule through the BC4J tester. The VOs return rows perfectly when we test the AppModule.
    BUT -
    When we try to invoke a jspx page (using embedded OC4J server) with an ADF Read Only table of the ViewObj, we get a "500 Internal Server Error" with following details. (Error listing at the end)
    We are using:
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.0 SU5
    ADF JSF
    And the database is NonStop SQL on Tandem NonStop Server S Series box.
    Any help to resolve the issue will be highly appreciated. We also face problems when making this as a WebService - detals of which I will post in a new thread.
    Thanks in advance,
    Saran

    Kuba -
    I have done exactly as mentioned in the link you have provided except that I am using JSF instead of Struts.
    As I have mentioned earlier, if I test the AppModule through the BC4J tester it works fine. I can see my ViewObject with rows from the Tandem database. Only when I run the JSF page do I get the error. Is there something I need to configure in faces-config for accesing Tandme database?

  • Got an error while creating bind variables using sql database.

    iam going to use sql database for ADF-BC .
    i created the bind variable and apply the bind position for the corresponding variable in the view object editor.when i click test it shows me "query is valid". when i tried to run that it gives me two errors.
    1) sql error during statement preparation.(ie) select empid ,empname......from the emptable where empid like :'emp' and
    2) [Microsoft][SQl server  2000 driver  for jDBC] invalid parameter bindings
    i need help to know the solution for this...(or) is there any other way to create bind variable ......

    The 3 binding styles supported by JDev:
    Oracle Named - ie. SELECT xxxx FROM xxxx WHERE emp_id = :vEmp (note colon and variable name)
    Oracle Positional - ie SELECT xxxx FROM xxxx WHERE emp_id = :1 (note colon)
    JDBC Positional - ie SELECT xxxx FROM xxxx WHERE emp_id = ?
    Literally this query is sent to the database to execute, then the bind variables values are applied as a separate database operation. If SQL Server doesn't suport any of these binding styles, it's not going to work. As Chris Noonan suggests, try the JDBC Positional style though as you're using a JDBC driver to connect to SQL Server and it should support that style (the others are Oracle styles), and make sure you've switched the binding style on the VO query page to "JDBC Positional" too.
    You must also on the VO bind variable page define your bind variables.
    Also read the 10.1.3 JDev guide on ADF Business Components and View Object bind variables.

    hi,
    ypur structure is bad defined.
    if you want to do an insert, the DT should be
    <ns0:MT_JDBC_RECEIVER xmlns:ns0="http://file_to_jdbc">
    ___<StatementName>
    ______<dbTableName action=”INSERT”>
    _____<table>MATMAS</table>
    _______ <access>

    ___________<GEWEI>KG</GEWEI>
    ______</access>
    _____</dbTableName>
    __ </StatementName>
    </ns0:MT_JDBC_RECEIVER>
    the ROW field is used when you wait receive data from DB for example you execute and SQL Query from Sender communication channel "SELECT name FROM TABLE Names"
    so, the result of this query would be, for example:
    <row>
    ____<name>joge</name>
    </row>
    <row>
    ____<name>pepe</name>
    </row>
    <row>
    ____<name>nicola</name>
    </row>

    Sudarshan,
    Occasionally, mid-way through the upgrade, DB permissions to users might change. Check to see, if the users SAP<SID>, OPS$ users have the DBA privilege. Re-assign the role and try continuing with the upgrade.

  • Error while reading file entries from the database

    Hi there,
    We are running a instance of xmii 12 in a VM (VMware) and after somebody shutdown the host machine without shutting down the VM (great idea isn't it?) we keep getting this message when trying to access xMII:
    "Application cannot be started.
      Details:   com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.ExceptionInfo: Error while reading file entries from the database."
    Any clue? Any suggestion on how we can recover from that?
    Thanks a whole lot,

    Well thanks for the hint. Actually, the DB was up but corrupted. I managed to solve the bug by re-deploying xMII (using the SDM tool) which kept all my data but redeployed both the config db of (x)mii and the class files.

    2) This configuration tested with MS Windows 2000 family and Windows XP Pro+SP2
    When I'm going to browse server by windows family stations, server asked for username/password, after authentication on both clients (Win XP and Win 2000) the share list appears correctly. for browsing shares contents through windows 2000 I have no problem but when i want to browse shares contents with windows xp+sp2 error message appears with "Access denied." subject.
    How can I solve this problem?
    Any help would be greatly appreciate.
