Error while SPATIAL_INDEX creation

Question

SQL> CREATE INDEX Loc_idx
ON LOC_ZIP(LOC)
INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX; 2 3
CREATE INDEX Loc_idx
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
ORA-13200: internal error [Unsupported Type] in spatial indexing.
ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
but index created
also see the table and type desc it is very help full to solve because of this
sdo_distance function can't able to use
SQL> desc loc_zip

Hi kalinga,
Did you make an entry in tthe user_sdo_geom_metadata?
That might be the issue...
The index is created but it is invalid.You need to rebuild teh index or drop the index and create the index..You must always make an entry in metadata before creating the spatial index
INSERT INTO user_sdo_geom_metadata VALUES
     (table_name','sdo_geometry column',mdsys.sdo_dim_array(
          mdsys.sdo_dim_element('Longitude', -180, 180, 0.005),
          mdsys.sdo_dim_element('Latitude', -90, 90, 0.005)),srid);
