Errors in Spatial 11g documentation

1) At http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28400/sdo_objrelschema.htm#CBBIHIIE the point cloud description references Tables 2.4 and 2.5 which are actually TIN rather than point cloud description tables.
2) At http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28400/sdo_objtune.htm in the SDO_TUNE referen ce, there are 2 occurances of SDO_TUNE.EXTENT_OF but the second should be to SDO_TUNE.MIX_INFO

Hello Hans. I have no idea what "Bump around the spammer" means, but I've reported the doc errors to the Spatial doc writers.
Regards,
DianaBump - a common term for 'bumping a thread to the front of the line by adding a null post'.
At one time there was an spammer who replied to quite a few threads (seemed like 100+) in these forums with a generic spam link. My bump was to bring the active question to the front since it had been buried behind about 25 posts that contained nothing other than the spam. The forums moderator removed the spamming userid and all related posts, and that left my comment without a context.
That said - I appreciate your efforts in handling these doc issues in general, and I'm glad the doc writers have looked at mine in particular.

  • Oracle spatial 11g - 3D-Geometry and KML-Export

    Hi,
    I'm currently working with an Oracle Spatial 11g - database and there with 2d- and 3d-geometries. With this Version you can extrude 2d's to 3d's and calculate their volumes. This works fine.
    The problem is to save the extruded areas as 3d-geometries in a specific table. Enclosed you will find the SQL-Code of the current workflow:
    *1. Create tables for the 2d- and 3d-geometries (incl. metadata and spatial index)*
    -- table for 3d-geometry
    CREATE
    TABLE ta_geb(
    geom MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY
    ,area NUMBER(12,3)
    -- metadata 2D
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)
    VALUES
         'ta_geb',
         'geom',
    MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY
    (MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X',4439900.00, 4440020.00, 0.005),
    MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 5664050.00, 5664130.00, 0.005)
    31468
    -- spatial index 2D
    CREATE
    INDEX ta_geb_index ON ta_geb(geom) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX;
    -- table for 3d-geometry
    CREATE
    TABLE ta_3dgeb(
    geom3d MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY
    -- metadata 3D
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA (TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DIMINFO, SRID)
    VALUES
         'ta_3dgeb',
         'geom3d',
    MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY
    (     MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X',4439900.00, 4440020.00, 0.005),
         MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 5664050.00, 5664130.00, 0.005),
         MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Z', 0, 200, 0.005)
    31468
    -- spatial index
    CREATE
    INDEX ta_3dgeb_index ON ta_3dgeb(geom3d) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX PARAMETERS ('SDO_INDX_DIMS=3');
    *2. insert 2d-geomtry*
    INSERT

              4439975.33,5664060.42,
              4439983.26,5664065.43,
              4439975.91,5664077.07
    ,null --area
    *3. calculate volume of the extruded area*
    SELECT SDO_GEOM.SDO_VOLUME(SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(
         GEOM,
         SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(0),
         SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(10),
         'false', --validation
         0.005),0.005)
    from ta_geb;
    This works fine so far. Now I wanna insert the extruded geometry (now 3D) in the table ta_3dgeb. All my attempts were in vain...
    *4. insert extruded geomtry*
    INSERT
    INTO
    ta_3dgeb
    select
    SDO_UTIL.EXTRUDE(
              GEOM,
              SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(0),
              SDO_NUMBER_ARRAY(10),
              'false', --validation
              0.005)
    from ta_geb;
    I got the following error message after executing this Code:
    ORA-29875: failed in the execution of the ODCIINDEXINSERT routine
    ORA-13365: layer SRID does not match geometry SRID
    ORA-06512: in "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 709
    ORA-06512: in "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 225
    Then I tried to change something on the metadata and spatial indices, wihtout success. Does anyone has advices to solve the problem??
    Afterwards I would like to export the 3d-geometry in a KML file to visualize it in Google Earth. Therefore oracle provides a tool. But I didn't managed it to export the geometry. Any hints for the KML export or are there any other tools alternatively??
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Regards

    Extrude does not automatically populate the SRID for the resulting geometry as there may not be a 3D equivalent of the 2D SRID defined
    in the DB.
    So the extruded geometry comes out without the SRID. In your case, since you are creating an index on the ta_3dgeb table
    before inserting the extruded data, it is causing this failure.
    So drop the index on the ta_3dgeb table and do the inserts into it.
    Then you can manually update the geometries with the SRID if there is a corresponding 3D SRID for 31468.
    Otherwise, you can use 31468.

  • Column Formula with Error in OBIEE 11g

    Hello,
    On Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g, I am trying to create an analysis. The database is MySQL. In the database, there is a field of type varchar(10). This
    field shows a date. In OBIEE 11g, when creating the analysis, in the Criteria tab, I choose this column (varchar) and edit the formula of it. The operation that I want to do is:
    YEAR(CURRENT_DATE) - SUBSTRING("TableName"."ColumnName" FROM 1 FOR 4) where the ColumnName is the name of the column of type varchar(10)
    but I get an error: +[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 27002] Near <->: Syntax error [nQSError: 26012]+
    If I execute the same query directly on the MySQL database, I get the desired result without any error.
    Also, if I use the following formula, I also get an error:
    CAST((SUBSTRING("TableName"."ColumnName" FROM 1 FOR 4)) AS INTEGER)
    So, I am asking why the first query throws an error in OBIEE 11g but not when it runs directly on the MySQL database. Also, how can I convert in OBIEE 11g a string to integer?
    Thank you in advance,
    Griselda

    It could mean several different things. Do you know if the administrator have shut down the services? If you have access to the server, check to see if all the services are up and running.

  • Error creating spatial indexes

    I'm using oracle 10g2.

    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
    I've already tried to increase memory, shared and large pool, actually I have the following settings:
    Shared pool 500
    Buffer cache 200
    Large pool 200
    Pool Java 20
    I've already installed data and created spatial indexes on other machine correctly with the same data with less memory use, and I can't find any difference.
    Could anybody help me?

    Andre,
    I didn't think the , and ; in the sdo_geom_metadata would be causing the problem because he indicated that he could build indexes on other data - I assume he uses the same diminfo values for these as well. But, one can never be too sure!
    But certainly, follow what the error messages indicate.
    The Oracle Error message manual says:
    "ORA-13232: failed to allocate memory during R-tree creation
    Cause: This feature assumes a minimum of 64K memory for bulk creation.
    Action: Create the index for a small subset of the data. Then, use transactional insert operations for the rest of the data."
    The spatial manual says:
    "Before you create a spatial index, be sure that the rollback segment size and the SORT_AREA_SIZE parameter value are adequate, as described in Section 4.1.1."
    One way to change the sort area size is to alter your existing session before
    executing the create index statement. So, from 4.1.1. this can be done via:
    ALTER SESSION SET SORT_AREA_SIZE = 20000000;
    Also, do what Andre suggests. On my laptop with 1G of memory as a matter of course I change the SGA from the default to being much larger.

  • Is there a function in Oracle Spatial 11g to move/translate geometry?

    Hello Everybody,
         I am new to Oracle Spatial. I wanted to know if there is any function to move/translate a geometry in Oracle Spatial 11g? PostGIS has a function named ST_Translate to achieve the same.

    Hi
    There is an SDO_UTIL.AFFINETRANSFORMS function in the  SDO_UTIL Package (Utility)
    Note, that Simon Greener & Siva Ravada have published an excellent book ("Applying and Extending Oracle Spatial") that contains examples (in Chapter 7) of easy to use wrappers for this:

  • Load LiDAR data into Spatial 11g making use of Point Cloud Type?

    Dear all,
    from an aerial LiDAR scan I have approximately 226 million points, spread over 9 files. I would like to load them into Oracle Spatial 11g, making use of the new point cloud data type. I have the book "Pro Oracle Spatial for Oracle Database 11g" here and Appendix E explains how you have these two tables that together manage your point cloud. I find the example given in the book rather simplified though as they have only x, y and z and a row id colum. In addition to this I also have r, g, b and i (intensity) values.
    I was wondering if anyone could give me a hint on how to store all the information in one table and making use of the sdo_pc data type at the same time.
    Also, the example has the points already in a table, but I'd like to load it all directly from my files into the point cloud table (I know how to use sqlldr, but how do I get it into this point cloud table structure). What's the cleverest way to go about this?
    All ideas are greatly appreciated!!
    Regards,
    Bia.

    Hi,-
    Our LAS converter supports LAS 1.1 format.
    LAS version 1.0 has fewer entries for the data than LAS version 1.1 so you might just ignore those extra fields that donot exist in LAS 1.0.
    Therefore, i am expecting your data to be fine with our LAS to SDO_PC converter.
    Thanks

  • ODCI error with spatial operators

    Hi group,
    I get ODCI errors with spatial operators SDO_RELATE, SDO_FILTER and SDO_WITHIN_DISTANCE (not SDO_NN) called from JDBC (Java 1.2.2).
    For example:
    SELECT A.gid FROM FeatureTable1 A, FeatureTable1 B WHERE B.gid = 3 AND SDO_RELATE(A.Geometry, B.Geometry, 'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype = WINDOW') = 'TRUE';
    Displays the error
    ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
    Other functions such as SDO_AREA, SDO_NN work fine, though.
    Both feature tables where populated with the SDOAPI toolkit and indexed using a fixed index.
    I use a default full install of Oracle 8.1.6 on Linux RedHat 6.2.
    What's wrong? Do I need to install anything else on the server?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Dan,
    There are several errors in the SampleNewToSDO.java sample. The outer polygons should be anti-clockwise, the inner polygons should be clockwise. Now that this is fixed, polygons (with or without inner polygons) do pass the validation test, but multipolygons do not.
    What's wrong with this multipolygon:
    double outerOrdArray1[] = {310, 310, 320, 310, 320, 320, 310, 320, 310, 310};
    LineString outerLineString1 = gF.createLineString(outerOrdArray1);
    double innerOrdArray1[] = {311, 311, 311, 319, 319, 319, 319, 311, 311, 311};
    LineString innerLineStrings1[] = new LineString[1];
    innerLineStrings1[0] = gF.createLineString(innerOrdArray1);
    collection[0] = gF.createPolygon((LineString)outerLineString1,
    (LineString[])innerLineStrings1);
    double outerOrdArray2[] = {410, 410, 420, 410, 420, 420, 410, 420, 410, 410};
    LineString outerLineString2 = gF.createLineString(outerOrdArray2);
    double innerOrdArray2[] = {411, 411, 411, 419, 419, 419, 419, 411, 411, 411};
    LineString innerLineStrings2[] = new LineString[1];
    innerLineStrings2[0] = gF.createLineString(innerOrdArray2);
    collection[1] = gF.createPolygon((LineString)outerLineString2,
    (LineString[])innerLineStrings2);
    geom = gF.createGeometryCollection(collection);
    Note that the sdoapi java library does not detect anything wrong with the geometry (isValid() returns true even when the order of vertices is wrong).
    Heterogenous collections are OK. Only multipolgons are wrong. To check whether the multipolygon was correctly stored in the table, I exported the table to XML using the SampleSDOtoXML.java sample. It looks good:
    <MultiPolygon>
    <Polygon name="0" srsName="0">
    <LineString name="0" srsName="0"> <CList>310.0,310.0 320.0,310.0 320.0,320.0 310.0,320.0 310.0,310.0</CList> </LineString>
    <LineString name="0" srsName="0"> <CList>311.0,311.0 311.0,319.0 319.0,319.0 319.0,311.0 311.0,311.0</CList> </LineString>
    </Polygon>
    <Polygon name="0" srsName="0">
    <LineString name="0" srsName="0"> <CList>410.0,410.0 420.0,410.0 420.0,420.0 410.0,420.0 410.0,410.0</CList> </LineString>
    <LineString name="0" srsName="0"> <CList>411.0,411.0 411.0,419.0 419.0,419.0 419.0,411.0 411.0,411.0</CList> </LineString>
    </Polygon>
    </MultiPolygon>
    So why does SDO_GEOM.VALIDATE_GEOMETRY return 13050? Is there a special vertex ordering rule for multipolygons?
    Thanks,
    Jean-Pierre

    Please browse:
    http://certification.oracle.com - preparation/getting started and the FAQs and locate the certification you desire. The information you need is there, and there is little need for me to repeat it here. Using codes and identifiny a certification properly by its rigthtful code and name helps focus the mind and helps many questions to answer themselves. Practice of such rigor is surely helpful in the certification journey.

  • Error Encountered 0x80040FB3, Check Documentation

    I ahve been using the desktop software successfully for a number of months.  Recently a colleague changed an appointment (Outlook 2007) that I added to my clanedar.
    Now, when I try to synch the Curve (8330), I receive a dialog box explaing the difference between my Outlook entry and the device.  No matter what option I choose, I then get the error message, "Error Encountered 0x80040FB3, Check Documentation". and then it closes the synchronization.  The Blackberry support says this is related to the address book, but I never get that far in the synchornization.
    Any recommendations?
    Also, would it be easier to wipe clean the Calendar on the Blackberry and then start over?  How do you do that?
    Thanks in advance for your responses.

    Hello!  I began having the same problem yesterday, 4/21, when I tried syncing with my Yahoo! calendar. After looking all over Blackberry's website, I contacted Verizon Wireless, my wireless provider, today and was told that apparently Yahoo! did an update to their site and it was preventing Blackberry users to sync with the calendar.  I was also told that Blackberry is aware of the problem and have been working with Yahoo! to resolve the problem.  Hopefully it will be resolved soon!!  I hope this helps.

  • Where can I download the HTML version of the 11g documentation?

    Could someone tell me where I can download the HTML version of the 11g documentation? The landing page for 11g Tuxedo docs states "View PDF or download a ZIP file containing documentation in PDF and HTML formats from the Download Documentation page", but the only two options available are to download the pdf files and the javadocs.
    In this part of the world (Africa) we tend to suffer from limited bandwidth, and it is far more efficient to have the docs loaded on my laptop!
    Thanks & regards,
    Malcolm.

    Hi Malcom,
    I've asked our tech writer to look into this and respond here.
