ESB/File Adapter - XML files containing multiple messages

Hi,
In all the examples on file adapters I read, if files contain multiple messages, it always concerns non-XML files, such as CSV files.
In our case, we have an XML file containing multiple messages, which we want to process separately (not in a batch). We selected "Files contain Multiple Messages" and set "Publish Messages in Batches of" to 1.
However, the OC4J log files show the following error:
ORABPEL-12505
Payload Record Element is not DOM source.
The Resource Adapter sent a Message to the Adapter Framework which could not be converted to a org.w3c.dom.Element.
Anyone knows whether it's possible to do this for XML files?
Regards, Ronald

Maybe I need to give a little bit more background info.
Ideally, one would only read/pick-up small XML documents in which every XML document forms a single message. In that way they can be processed individually.
However, in our case an external party supplies multiple messages in a single batch-file, which is in XML format. I want to "work" on individual messages as soon as possible and not put a huge batch file through our ESB and BPEL processes. Unfortunately we can not influence the way the XML file is supplied, since we are not the only subscriber to it.
So yes, we can use XPath to extract all individual messages from the XML batch-file and start a ESB process instance for each individual message. But that would require the creation of another ESB or BPEL process which only task is to "chop up" the batch file and start the original ESB process for each message.
I was hoping that the batch option in the File adapter could also do this for XML content and not only for e.g. CSV content. That way it will not require an additional process and manual coding.
Can anyone confirm this is not supported in ESB?
Regards,
Ronald

  • Adapter file sender doesn't split file into multiple message

    Hi everybody.
    We are in PI 7.0 SP10.
    In adapter file sender, I want to split a file into multiple file.
    We use protocole "file content conversion"
    in the field "recordset per message", I put the value 10 to test.
    The file content 30 records .
    The result we have is the treatment is not split into multiple message .
    The treatment is made but with one message.
    I need  to treat big files.
    Is there some one who have an idea  why t doesn't work ?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    have you specified recordset name......if not, then specify it.............
    in recordset structure, specify like RECORD,1 and not RECORD,*
    again test your scenario......if still your file data is not getting split, then ask your basis guys to do a full CPACache refresh using PIDIRUSER..........your basis guys will know how to do it..........then again test your scneario............

  • Correlation for files containing multiple records

    I was learning correlation from a nice blog below.
    /people/milan.thaker/blog/2008/07/23/correlation-150-runtime-behavior-of-bpm
    I have one question though. In the case where the correlation is done on  a key field say PsNo.
    Now if two files have multiple records, will the correlation compare the PsNo of each record or is the comparison just on the first PsNo of each file record.
    Thanks,
    Minhaj.

    Hi Minhaj,
    1) Suppose if you want to merge 2 files into a single file based on a keyfield (PsNo), You are opting Correlation in BPM.
    In your Correlation Editor, You should mention the XPATH Expression for Keyfield(PsNO) for the involved messages.
    2) Only if both the values of keyfied(PsNo) in 2 files are equal then Only you can merge all those 2 files into single file.
    So first PsNo of each file record is going to compared with another file.

  • Create a pfd file from a word 2004 file containing multiple Sections.

    I just got a macbook pro, installed office 2004 and acrobat pro 8.1. However, when I want to print - using PDF 8.9 printer driver - a word file with multiple sections in it, I cannot get the full document in the pdf file but only the last Section.
    Some sections are portraits and others are landscapes.
    Any idea what is happening? Tried to play with various set-up but nothing works...... Help!

    Thanks, however, I tried and it does not work. Also I correct the printer driver is 8.0 not 8.9. I tried both ways you mentionned but I get the pdf files in multiple sections (one file per section), cannot get a full file with all sections at once.

  • Difficulty with SF2 files containing multiple sounds; only one sound will play

    Here's my difficulty. I know exactly how to install SF2 soundfonts on my computer, I have used them in several compositions, but there's one limitation I havent been able to overcome.
    Some soundfonts, as you probably know, contain multiple sounds. My problem is that when I have a multi-sound SF2 selected, I can only get GarageBand to play one sound -- presumably the first one in the pack. There are no options in the DLS Music Player window for selecting other sounds within the soundfont; only the soundfont itself is listed. I have a couple of soundfont packs where the different sounds are all split into individual SF2s within a folder, and that displays as a submenu properly... but I can't get these others to work properly. Any ideas?

    I don't think you can get it to work with the current version of GB. There used to be a plugin called SoundFontSynth that handled soundfonts with sound banks, but it has been discontinued and the auther never replied to emails.

  • Loading/breaking large files containing multiple XML documents using plsql

    Hi I have a requirement where in the client sends the multiple xml payloads/documents in a single text file. I need to load that into the xmltype varialbe. How to do this?
    I'm able to load the entire document into a clob object, here.. all the xml payloads are loaded into a single row. When I try to access this I get a error
    ORA-31001: Invalid resource handle or path name "/MobileInventoryResponse.dtd"
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 254
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    This error is due to the dtd present in the xml document : <!DOCTYPE MobileInventoryResponse SYSTEM "MobileInventoryResponse.dtd">
    But if I load the data into a clob after removing the doctype reference then I get the following error. Here to mulitple xml documents are loaded into a single clob row.

    When try to access this by using select xmltype(x) from t

    Please let me know any method or type loading the multiple xml documents by using plsql. Only plsql method. There is a way by using SAX Loader. But can it be used in plsql or its a java method of loading.

    sorry for that...
    There was enter character between some tags. From there I'm not receiving that particular error.

  • ESB File Adapter Service question

    I am experimenting with ESB to enable an inbound file adapter to read multiple records from an XML file. I am using a router to pass to another FileAdapter for writing each of the child records to a separate XML file. So basically I am just trying to test reading multiple records from a single XML file and then putting each record in its own separate XML file. Seems like should be a pretty simple initial experiment with using the ESB. But when I drop this inbound xml file, it is getting picked up properly, but the entire inbound xml file is getting written to just a single outbound xmlfile (and is not getting split up). My confusion is over how the fileadapter works, I have checked the "Files contain multiple messages" checkbox and indicated batches of "1". So shouldn't this tell the file adapter to process one record from the inbound file at a time, passing it thru the router and ultimately to the outbound file adapter? If so, how does the file adapter know what deliminates each record in the XML file? Here is the inbound xml that I am trying to read/break apart and put each service request event in it's own outbound file. Please advice what I am missing here.
    <Events xmlns="http://www.example.org/test">

    The next experiment is to try performing some content based routing based on the type of event. But I need to learn how to crawl first. I have been scanning thru the Oracle tutorials and googling, but have not found any examples where a single XML document is broken apart in this way into multiple output files.
    Thanks for any help,
    Todd

    Thanks for your reply Allan!
    I went with your recommendations and was able to get it partially working. I modified my XSLT mapping as you had indicated. I also ran the transform thru Stylus studio and the transform appears to have processed properly.
    What I am seeing happen now is that the writer is still only writing 1 file, but now rather than both children being included in the file, just the very first child element is included. I am not sure what happens to the 2nd one. I was expecting it to be written out to a second file. Below is the configuration settings I am using for the adapters...
    File reader:
    Currently batching turned off (ie unchecked the files contain multiple messages). I originally had this checked with it publishing in batches of 1. This appears to make no difference. The Schema Element is set to the parent element "Events".
    Router:
    Transform via router. This change appears to be working correctly since I was able to transform via stylus studio and see both child element transformed in the output document.
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:for-each select="/imp1:Events/imp1:ServiceRequestEvent">
    <imp1:ServiceRequestEvent>
    <imp1:summary>
    <xsl:value-of select="imp1:summary"/>
    </imp1:summary>
    File writer:
    File naming convention: event_%yyMMddHHmmssSS%.xml (so should be unique)
    I tried checking and unchecking "Number of messages Equals = 1", No files are written when this is checked? No errors found in the ESB instance console, appears to have written successfully, but no file. Schema element is set to the child element "ServiceRequestEvent" since I want each output file to include a single ServiceRequestEvent.
    So I am a bit confused what I am missing? It is difficult to gain visibility into what is going on under the covers. Is there any debug logging that may show exactly what is happening as the input file is processed, transformed and then written out? I assume that If I can transform the input document via Stylus studio to a document with just the 2 child elements that this is ok, but how does the file adapter know how to distinquish how to break up this output file into separate files without some kind of indication of a record delimiter?
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Processing of multiple messages Using BPM

    Hello everybody,
    I am pretty much a newbie to this XI technology. I am currently testing a File to File scenario Concerning BPM. The source file contains multiple messages in an XML structure. How can each of these XML messages be posted as individual files? I have reffered to this <a href="/people/narendra.jain/blog/2005/12/30/various-multi-mappings-and-optimizing-their-implementation-in-integration-processes-bpm-in-xi on BPM as a guideline; but here the number of messages are restricted and I want to dynamically determine how many messages are contained in the XML file. Anybody has any idea how to achieve this?
    Thanks and Warm Regards,

    Hello,
    The blog you mentioned is for cutting one file into 2 files.
    I think you need to use the "<b>ParForEach</b>" step in the BPM. This step is used to loop on a multiple line message and create a single message in one branch. Then you can add a send step in this branch and end only one message.

  • HL7 Inbound - File with Multiple HL7 messages - how to configure?

    I have a file containing multiple HL7 v2 delimited messages, separated form one another with \r\r\n.
    Can I configure the inbound adapter in teh B2B to break up teh file into individual messages and process them through the B2B infrastructure individually?

    Edited by: Michael.Czapski on 22/07/2010 23:33

    Thanks, Anuj.
    I am using 11g R2, which I though is the current version.
    I don't have a HL7 Batch - I have a file with a bunch of HL7 messages separated by \r\r\n.
    Is there any way to configure the File adapter in the B2B to break up such a file at \r\r\n delimter characters and process each "record" as an individula HL7 message?
    If not, would I have to receive such a file using a File Adapter in the SOA Composite, have the File Adapter break it up and submit each "record" from the SOA Composite to the B2B using the outbound B2B Adapter in order to have them processed? If yes, can you point me at how I could configure teh SOA File Adapter to break up a delimited file into records?

  • Single File to multiple IDoc

    I am working on single XML file input to multiple IDoc scenario. Single file contains multiple set of data for Customer and Vendor for example 20 Customer and 40 vendor together in one file between <CMData>...</CMdata> tag individually. I have to map Customer and Vendor based on one of the tag value. I seen the IDoc structure does not allow multiple records and occurrence shows only one. What is the best way to establish this scenario. I know ccBPM is required and Transformation Step picks respective mapping based on XML tag value for Customer or Vendor, but I have doubt how can I send one by one IDoc by identifying correct mapping based on XML tag. Thanks and appreciate your help.
    --PKT

    Thanks Paul for prompt response and support.
    I changed the Occurrence of both IDOC TAG to "9999" through "xsd" and upload the same in XI and I created two mapping one for Customer and one for Vendor i.e.
    File--->Customer with multiple IDoc tag attribute
    File--->Vendor with multiple IDoc tag attribute
    Now in BPM I have to apply loop and look to the tag XMLType and where it is "C" I have to call Customer mapping and where it is "V" I have to call Vendor mapping. How I can do this . Please help me on this. Thanks.

    messages should be created.In first message there will be first 2 records
    with VKORG BE10 and in second message there will be last record with VKORG BE30.
    We can do it through FILE2XMBWITHSTRUCTURECONVERSION and using some options.
    I am sending the configuration that I have done for my adapter.
    classname=com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.ModuleFile2XMB
    mode=FILE2XMBWITHSTRUCTURECONVERSION
    #mode=FILE2XMB
    XMB.TargetURL=http://20.60.53.36:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
    XMB.ReceiverBusinessSystem=sapdev210
    #XMB.ContentKind=B
    XMB.ContentKind=T
    #XMB.ContentType=application/xml
    XMB.ContentType=text/xml
    #XMB.ContentType=text/plain
    XMB.QualityOfService=EO
    ##xml conversion properties if mode FILE2XMBWITHROWCONVERSION specified (example, see docu)
    xml.recordsetStructure=IDOC,*
    xml.recordsetName=SALESDATA
    xml.recordsetsPerMessage=1
    xml.documentName=SALESDATA
    #xml.fieldFixedLengths=
    xml.IDOC.processFieldNames=fromConfiguration
    xml.IDOC.fieldNames=VKORG,VTWEG,SPART,BSART,PARVW,PARTNER,BSTDK,MATNR,MENGE,VSART,BSTZD,POLINE,BSARK
    xml.keyFieldName=VKORG
    xml.keyFieldType=CaseSensitiveString
    xml.IDOC.keyFieldValue=BE10.
    xml.IDOC.fieldSeparator= ;
    What I have tried is hardcoding 2 in  xml.recordsetStructure=IDOC,2.It works fine
    Since I already knew this.
    Butin real scenario we wont be knowing this that is why I have given * in configuration , and
    given
    xml.keyFieldName=VKORG
    xml.keyFieldType=CaseSensitiveString
    xml.IDOC.keyFieldValue=BE10.
    With this it should identify on key field and its value and put first 2 records in one message
    and last record in second message.
    It is not giving any error when we start adapter but no XML message is created.Can u plz help me
    for the above problem.
    My datatype in repository is like
    SALESDATA
        IDOC
             VKORG
             VTWEG
    and allother remaining fields.
    Is this scenario possible in XI 2.0.If yes then will it  be done through above approach or something else.
    Thanx.
    Rekha.

    Hi,
    I think you can not handle this problem with keyFieldName/keyFieldValue.
    In my opinion with keyFieldName/keyFieldValue you can create different substructures of the same XML, but you can not seperate messages with the same substructure.
    But I don't know how to handle your problem ;-(
    Another point is that I see a dot after xml.IDOC.keyFieldValue=BE10.
    My be this is a problem too.

    Hi Suraj.
    Thank you very mutch for your reply.
    Excuse me...my mapping is done for message type and idoc.
    My problem is that when the interface start, on the sxmb_moni I see an error like this:
    Creating Java mapping com.sap.xi.tf._MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping_ --- Using MappingResolver with context URL //srvsapdev/sapmnt/CX1/SYS/global/xi/mapping/gestione_magazzini/7fa9c9e15a7811dab710f3e3ac10826e/ --- Load of com/sap/xi/tf/_MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping_.class from //srvsapdev/sapmnt/CX1/SYS/global/xi/mapping/gestione_magazzini/7fa9c9e15a7811dab710f3e3ac10826e failed. --- Class not found: com.sap.xi.tf._MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping_ --- java.lang.ClassNotFoundException at RUMappingJava.load(): Could not load class: com.sap.xi.tf._MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping_ Class not found: com.sap.xi.tf._MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping_ --- com.sap.aii.ibrun.server.map.MappingRuntimeException: at com.sap.aii.ibrun.server.map.MappingRuntimeException.code_STYLESHEET_OR_CLASS_NOT_FOUND
    ..where 'gestione_magazzini' is my namespace and 'MM_XmlOrderToIdocMapping' is my message mapping.
    Can you help me to undestand the problem?
    Thanks,
    Gianluca
