ESS/MSS leave approve view is diaplaying as error

Hi All,
We are using ESS/MSS for leave request and approval process.
We did neccessary configuration for the same. I have created leave request in ESS successfully and the same request displayed as item in UWL/Task. When try to approve, by clicking the link, it throws an error.
The error details are : 503 Service not available

When i try to preview the Iview 'leave reuqest approval' as a stand alone(from Content administration), its shows the approval view perfectly . even i tried to approve from their , its approving perfectly. But the Leave request approval view is not displaying when manager click the link to approve in UWL/Task.

1.After that , in Universal Worklist configuration, I have selected the row..system alias 'SAP_WedDYnpro_XSS' Connector type 'Web flow connector, clicked the re-register button. I got the folowing message :

- SAP_WebDynpro_XSS (WebFlowConnector
2. After that i have cleared the cache.
But still i am getting the same error message, when i click the leave request item. Kindly help.

ESS/MSS Leave Request Issue

Hello All Experts
We have implemented ESS/MSS. Everything is working fine except the Leave Request approval. The approval request comes to the approver's inbox.When we try to open the approval request, the webdynpro application is getting but there is no data in the same. I mean the webdynpro application which is launched is blank.
Could anyone please try to help me how to make this webdynpro application up and running ?
We are using EP 7.0 with ECC 5.0

I navigated to System Administration --> System Configuration --> Detailed Navigation --> Universal Worklist Workflow à Universal Worklist - Administration
I get a list of
Universal Worklist Systems

SAP_ITS_XSS |   WebFlowConnector           |   Re-Register    | Deactivate

When I click on Re-Register button under Action, I get the following message
Item type registration was successful for the following systems:
- SAP_ITS_XSS (WebFlowConnector)
I have also cleared the cache by navigating to Cache Administration Page
Still the issue remains.

ESS/MSS Leave Request

I am working ESS/MSS, we are deployed all the Business packages in the portal and once we open Leave request application
"There are no Customizing settings for absence type"
The above Error displayed,is there any configuration is required for R/3. if yes, can any one please help me

Hi,
Have you configured the basic settings in TM like Absences, Attendances, AQ types. To achieve the absence types in ESS, you need to configure the absence types in R/3.

ESS-MSS Custom Approval Level

Hi Guru,
We received requirement to add another level of approval between ESS and MSS (i.e. supervisor) in Portal.
Instead of going straight to MSS for approval (standard workflow), the customer want the 'Supervisor' to endorse the application first before the it goes to MSS for approval.
As for your info, we're implementing structural authorization and I plan to modify the standard authorization function module i.e. RH_GET_MANAGER_ASSIGNMENT to cater for this requirement.
Appreciate your advice if this approach; is this ok or is there any better way to do it.

I understand that standard Authorization function module i.e. RH_GET_ORG_ASSIGNMENT can be used to restrict the Supervisor access to his own organization unit. However, there is possibility whereby this Supervisor might need to endorse
application send by employee that not belongs to his organization unit - sorry for not clariy this earlier.
Thus, for this specific case we're depending on S-S position which is A002. I'm not sure whether customizing function module is the best resolution. Appreciate advice from the experts before proceed with the function module modification.

ESS MSS UWL Approval Step Hanging After Clicking Approve

Working on ESS MSS implementation using UWL to approve work items.
Approval task (TS17900101) is sending workitem to UWL, but when I click Approve it just hanging and gives me the processing circle forever.

Hi Praveen,
Extended notifications for SAP Business Workflow notify users by e-mail or SMS about work items that need to be processed. Notifications are sent to the relevant user in the form of messages. At present, e-mail messages (HTML or text-only) and SMS messages are supported.
Well I would say its not the base for all mails but surely for notifications.You can send mails even without configuring it.You can try it out in dev by creating a simple workflow with mail step.For mails you need to maintain the SCOT settings and evn that is done by BASIS guys so...u need not worry about it.

ESS MSS leave workflow problem when updating IT2001 & IT2006

Dear all,
We have one issue in our production portal leave system. Hospitalization leave was applied for 22.06.2011 to 28.06.2011. Workflow was done properly. I checked workflow log also. It was done properly. But some how Infotypes 2001 and 2006 were not updated at all for the leave applied. I don't understand what could be the problem. I checked the leave table PTREQ_HEADER. I could see the below statuses.
1. SENT
2. APPROVED
3. ERROR
4. POSTED.
I want to know how the update to IT2001 & IT2006 missing. Is there any special program to post the data to IT2001 and IT2006 .

Hmmm, clearly there had been some problems due to the ERROR status. Do you know who managed to fix the problem (and how) (for example check the POSTED line in table PTREQ_HEADER and check last changed (or similar) field. Maybe someone tried to manually handle the error and caused the problem. Could you get some more information about the error in PTARQ?
Actually from my point of view this is not a wokflow problem at all. Could you just ask the HR guys to fix it? Isn't it possible to make the infotype entries directly with PA30?

Cusomize the Leave Approve view when approve from UWL

Hi,
The user is approving the leave from the UWL.
when they click on the work item then in the Pop Up window the java application starts.
Now we want to hide the Duration field from the last confirmation field.
I tried to hide these fields from the Leave Request Approval iView, but it did not help.

Hi Vishal,
I have worked on this requirement before. What you need to do is copy the standard iview of the LeaveRequestApprover application into your customer space. Then hide the buttons in this iview through webdynpro personalisation.
After that you have to download the xml file which gets called for the LeaveRequestApprover application (you can find this by switching on the UWL Support Information) and change the action to 'iviewlauncher' and in the 'property' provide the pcd location of the iview in the customer space.Then re-register the UWL.
Hence when you will click on the Leave Request Workitem from the UWL, this custom iview (already personalised by you) will be launched and not the webdynpro application.

In ESS/ MSS Leave should update w.e.f leave applied date

My client requirement is.....
Employee applied (on 30th April 2014) for future date i.e 20th May 2014 to 23rd May 2014.
Employee applied on 30th April 2014
Manager approved on 1st May 2014.
Once Manager approved it should not update IT2006 - Absence Quota.
It should update on 20th May 2014. After Planned work schedule,
Can we configure or not. (Standard SAP not support I knew this)
If Yes......tell me the a few configuration map.

In standard there is no functionality to post the only current day leaves which are in APPROVED status.
Once this RPTARQPOST run in back ground it will post all APPROVED status records in IT 2001 / 2002.
In your case, you nee to make RPTARQPOST to Z and modify the code to include your business logic for posting only current day leave i.e begin date <= sy-datum leaves.
check the report in RPTARQPOST debug mode at below code lines.
IF ign IS INITIAL.
* Get requests having status APPROVED and ERROR
 PERFORM get_requests
 USING
 c_arq_reqtype
 CHANGING
 req_tab.
ELSE.
* Get only requests having status APPROVED
 PERFORM get_approved_requests
 USING
 c_arq_reqtype
 CHANGING
 req_tab.
ENDIF.
PERFORM process_all_requests
 USING
 cl_pt_arq_const=>c_app_id.
In above code line you can remove the records in table req_tab with your validations before calling the PERFORM process_all_requests.

Debugging Workflow in ESS/MSS module .

Hi,
I know the stpes to debugging simple workflow and trouble shooting the same, but now
I want to know the debuggibg workflow steps for workflow running with ESS/MSS module Framework,
The scenario is
Its actually Approving Forms in ESS/MSS module, The Employee applying medical leave from his Id, then it will go to first level approver inbox once he approve it goes to second level approver inbox once he approves then it will go to third level approver inbox and he is the final level approvel once he approve the proces will be done.
The problem is, After the second level approver approves the form its updating wrong third level approver so its not comming to third level approver inbox. The workflow is designed under Z class but I dont have update cone in Z class methods.
The updation part is comming under standard ess/mss framework code.
So please tell me the steps how i can debugg or execute worklow in background for all the steps,
like from first step I like pass the container to second steps and goes on.
Help really appreciated.

In ESS/MSS leave request the employee will apply the leave from portal and the workflow will triggered based on the spro which workflow template is used. Has you said that updation my custom cone. What is meant by that. Has as has i know we need to update the infotype 2001. This can be done by std FM.
To degbug.
In the put a external break point of the std FM which screen it call. I hope its called the webdypro java screen which nothing but a std FM. You need to find that FM. Then put a external breakpoint. change the user name from goto menu. Once you approve button is clicked in the portal. The debugger will open.

I have created all JCO destinations and when i test them , the result is successful
But once i click on ess/mss tab in portals, i get the error..

But i have maintained SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData in the SLD.. Actually i have two SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData services one is active and another is inactive..
For SAP_R3_HumanResources -- i have used "Logon Ticket" and for SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData -- used userid & pwd.
Actually i have to do UserMapping as my portal userid and R/3 userid are different.. Then in this case am i creating JCO destinations correctly.. If not how to do..
Please throw some light into this problem by your valuable suggestions.

I am having the exact same problem (i think). I believe that the problem is caused by a failed connection to the SLD.
In my case, if I scroll the bottom of the error page, the 'Detailed exception chain' has the error:
TypeBroker failed to access SLD: Error while obtaining JCO connection.
The same error can be found in the DefaultTrace.
This ESS is on a nw2004s sandbox portal (trying to reach an ECC 6.0 sandbox), but being lazy I just reused the SLD in my Development environment.
This is however a Java WAS 6.40 and according to Note 954820 (Compatibility of SLD in the system landscape)

Leave Approval in MSS/ESS

Hi All
I have a problem. I have configured ESS/MSS for my client. In the leave request section, an employee can apply for a leave. For approval, the default approving authority is visible.When a leave is applied, the system shows that it has been successfuly applied.Even the qouta is deducted.But where does this request go for appoval?
when logged on by the approver with his own id in MSS, nothing is visible.
So where is the approval done?Is it in Business Workplace or in MSS.
Please help and let me know what config is required.

First of all check whether the leave request was routed to the
user you mention, UWL is nothing but a front end view
of SBWP, What items you see in UWL are available in SBWP
You can see the Leave Request Work items in SBWP
but cant execute them as it is a java application

ESS/MSS: Approve Leave Request in UWL - not working

Hi to all,
we are using web dynpro ESS/ MSS (SAPESS07_12/ SAPMSS07_4) in portal NW04s for mySAP ERP2005 and are using UWL in order to approve leave requests. If employees are creating leave requests, everything works fine. After that the manager opens the leave request in UWL, the web dynpro application is openening succesfully and after some clicks he reaches the buttons to approve or reject the leave request. But by pushing one of them the following messages occures :
Workitem 000000000000 Cannot be read
After pushing the button again, another message comes up:
No Customizing for status typ ARQ, Status approved...
By the way, the same errors also come up when the employee wants to delete his leave request which is not approved.
Any ideas, what can be the reason?

Hi Ashutosh,
I have found the reason. The user WF - Batch in sap erp, which is using the RFC Destination for workflow, was locked. Well, it is a a little bit strange for a cummunication user that he becomes locked. Unlocked him, now all works.

MSS Time Approval - Detailed approval view shows time data for different PN

Hi Experts,
We're using the standard MSS time approval without workflow and here're 2 issues we have:
There're multiple time records for multiple employees in MSS for approval.
1. When manager tried to select all the records for one employee and click the "Approve" button in the collective approval screen, then all the records will be approved including records of other employees.
2. When manager click the hours of one record for a certain employee to go to the detailed/individual view, other employee's time data will be displayed in the detailed view window.

after Migration of our ess applications from WebDynpro JAVA to Web Dynpro ABAP we have a problem that sounds similar to the one you descriped above.
In POWL the button 'details' (detail view) for leave request approval seem to have no function.
