Hi all,
I want to knowthe order to stop&start essbase services
STOP:
administration servicese
Essbase services
Foundation
Openldap
but we have 3 batch script its stoping 4 services
and wat is HYS9ESBAgent11.1.1.1_Hypservice_1??
where should i find thid in which folder
can any one tell me

What you have written is the stop order and the reverse is start order.
and wat is HYS9ESBAgent11.1.1.1_Hypservice_1??It is the essbase agent running in the background services and available in
$Hyperion Home\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\bin\ESSBASE.exe

Essbase Services stops immediatly

Hi all,
I just configured Shared Services before trying to start Essbase 11.1.1.3 Server. The service starts but stops immediatly.
The log of Essbase is OK.
When I look at the Shared Services, I understand that something is wrong but I really don't understand what and why..!?
Can you help me I'm really lost and in stress with configurations issues...

First of all can you log into shared services without any problems, if so can create users and provision?
When you say the essbase.log looks ok can you post the details, also there should be SharedServices_Security_Client.log in the same directory
Before posting the logs delete essbase.log and SharedServices_Security_Client.log and then try and start the service, once it fails copy and post those logs.

Essbase Service crashed after starting other EPM service

Hi,
I'm using EPM 11.1.1.3 on WebLogic 9.23. OS: Win2003R2 32bit.
2 days ago my server has been crashed. After that I had to restore OpenLDAP directory. As loading of services Essbase service is started successfully, however at call to it through EAS or start of other services (Provider services) Essbase service is crashed.
What log files to me need to be looked?

Have you tried "Recover Native Directory" in Shared Services.
Have you checked the essbase.log in hyperion\logs\essbase
It may be a problem with the essbase security file, though I wouldn't expect essbase to start up if it was.

Essbase application stopped

Hi Gurus,
One of my essbase app has stopped. I tried to start it from the EAS console and it does not start. It give a message, the following application did not start.
It gives ERROR 1002097 Unable to load database
Any suggestions?

Please check below steps!
Symptoms
Error 1002097 Unable to load database (dbname) when:
Trying to start an Application or
Trying to Launch a Business Rule from Essbase
The application log also may show the following two errors:
Unable to lock file dbname.esm
Unable to open dbname.esm file
Cause
A lock was kept on the database or file (either by third party process (e.g. virus scan) or Essbase (orphaned ESSSVR process)
Solution
Ensure in Essbase Administration Services that no locks exist (right-click on Essbase Servername, EDIT->LOCK and EDIT->LOCKED OBJECTS, and if your database/outline appears in there, unlock it.)
Ensure no third party process keeps a lock on Essbase files. Pay special attention to antivirus- and backup software that may be scanning / running on your Essbase folders as that can lock the files.
Check if any ESSSVR process stays when the Essbase Agent is stopped
If the Essbase Agent is stopped using the Services Panel on Windows while a process is currently running, or if there has been an abnormal termination of the Essbase Agent, orphaned ESSSVR processes can be left. The steps to recover are then:
On Windows:
1. Shutdown the Essbase server using ESSCMD or MaxL.
2. Check Task Manager, confirm the ESSBASE.exe process is gone.
3. Check for any orphaned ESSSVR.exe processes still running.
4. Do an "End Process" on any ESSSVR.exe process that is still running.
5. Start the Essbase service and start the application.
UNIX:
1. Log in to the UNIX server as the user that starts Essbase.
2. Shutdown the Essbase server using ESSCMD or MaxL.
3. Run a "ps -ef | grep ESSBASE" to confirm Essbase is shutdown.
4. Run a "ps -ef | grep ESSSVR" to check for orphaned ESSSVR processes.
5. Note the process id (PID) and do a "kill -15 (pid)" for each of the orphaned ESSSVR processes. It may take a few minutes for the process to terminate. If it does not terminate, you will need to run a "kill -9 (pid)" which is a hard kill.
6. Start Essbase as you normally do and start the application.
To shutdown Essbase using ESSCMD or MaxL, use the following commands:
ESSCMD:
Shutdownserver "servername" "username" "password";
MaxL:
Alter system shutdown;
Windows Services:
sc \\MACHINENAME stop "HyS9ESBAgent11.1.1_hypservice_1"

How to create a batch file to stop/start only essbase services 11.1.2.2

Hi,
I have a requirement to build a batch file to schedule stop or start essbase. This batch files should run daily once. Version 11.1.2.2.
I have tried to prepare a batch file which is calling the default service restart batch StartEssbase.bat and stopEssbase.bat.
Stop process is running fine. But, Start is not success. When I run StartEssbase.bat and stopEssbase.bat manually essbase is restarting successfully.
I tried with the command like START ESSCMD.exe "Password" also. Still it is not working.
Could any one please help with the batch scrpit how can I build to start or stop essbase.

Automate start/stop essbase service using Maxl or batch

Hi - how would my batch or Maxl file look like if I wanted to come out with a script to stop and start my essbase service? The reason why i am doing this is because I wanted to stop the essbase service, so that I can archive the essbase.log file.
I am on essbase 7.0, I have read on some postings that stopping and starting the essbase service can potentially corrupt the sec file. If so, then is there any other way of archive the essbase.log file so that it does not grow to megs.

You could use the following maxl
alter system shudown;
it may be useful to stop all the applications first e.g.
alter system unload application all;
or you can use windows command line
net stop essbaseservicename
and to start
net start essbaseservicename
Another method to backup the essbase.log is to make a copy of the log then use maxl to delete the log.
alter system clear logfile;

The Order of services to start the Essbase?

Hi Guyz,
Can any one please let me know the order of services to start EAS?
I'm not using Essbase studio. In 11.x Can I use EAS without essbase studio??

It is all in the documentation. You don't need to start Essbase Studio. Google 'epm documentation'
On another note its probably best if you specify the version in more detail because there is some significant changes between 11.1.1.x and 11.1.2.x

Essbase Service Can't Start

Hi there,
I am working under Hyperion 11.1.1 and I have error.
I want to start Essbase service in order to use MAXL / Essmsh but the Essbase service can't start. The service starts manually as usual and path to executable pointed to C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\bin\ESSBASE.exe
when I tried to find the folder and run essbase.exe the error shows that the service name is wrong (Hypservice_1) and not found.
Actually at Windows service, display name is "Hyperion Essbase Services 11.1.1 - hypservice_1"
Anyone has idea about that problem? Please let me know, thanks.

I couldn't capture the windows when I run startessbase.cmd, it runs very fast and disappeared afterwards.

Essbase Service suddenly stops during report automation

Has anyone experienced this before? The Essbase service suddenly stops while running batches.
I get the following message in the Event viewer everytime this happens:
The Hyperion S9 BI+ Analytic Services 9.3.0 - essbase service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s).
Is this due to constant batches with large reports taxing essbase?
Is there an Essbase.cfg modification that I can make to help avoid this?

This is the exception file ( I believe it is generated at the server level as it is in the \Hyperion\AnalyticServices directory (if that is what you mean))
Are you saying I should add the SERVERTHREADS line for the App in question?

Could not start hyperion essbase service

When i am starting essbase services it is starting sucessfully.
and when iam starting admin services its starting and at the same time essbase services is stopping, if iam trying to start the services its throwing error like
Could nto start the hyperion essbse services 11.1.1-hypservice_1 service on local computer
error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly
i have checked the task manager : no other process for essbase are running for any user.

Essbase Dimension build error and Unable to Stop/Start Application

Hi All,
I am trying to build the dimendion in the ASO application it is throwing the Error meaasage " Dimension Biuld failed , ther may be problem in allocating memory".
While i am trying to and Start/Stop my respective Application it is throwing the below error meaasge
I tried to debug this issue by checking the Locked objects, and asked my Admin to close my sessions forcebully if any running and also checking all rules files . But i didn't get any clue/solution from them.
Please help me out from this issue

Thanks for your answer friend. My admin has successfully killed my session forcebully. And he doubted that i may not have enough rights to Stop/Start application and he provided me the required rights. After that also the error is repeating as below. we two are not getting where we went wrong.

What’s the version of your TFS?
How do you configure the test control?
Please make sure you are specify the team collection instead of team project.
On the other hand, you may enable test controller logs. (You could share the log file on the OneDrive)

Mail service on start/stop of services ...

Please let me know the way to send mail when services are started/stopped in oracle application 11.5.10.2. How to configure this on ibm aix 5.3.

There is a way to configure emails on startup/shutdown of Concurrent Manager service - but I'm not aware about any such configuration around other services (eg. Apache, Apps Listener, Forms Server etc..)
I think you'll have to do this outside Oracle's scripts if you wish to set this up - either by wrapping the calls to seeded scripts in your own custom script, or if you want a periodical probing, then via use of cron/scheduler depending on the OS you're on.

PS : In addition to the Concurrent Managers, I think you should be also able to achieve this for database services if you wish to do that - by use of startup and shutdown database triggers.
