Essbase version end dates ...

Do anyone know where I can find out when a particular version of Essbase goes out of support? We are currenly running version 6.5.5 having recently upgraded from version 5.0.1 and need to know if an upgrade will be required again in the near future. Many thanks Adrian

I can't speak for others, but in the shops were I've worked we normally upgrade when a version becomes stable and offers new features that we can make use of. We do minor upgrades for bug fixes if the bug bothers us. As such, we now are running Essbase 7.1.3 and are considering system 9, now that 9 has become more stable and mature. Since the upgrade to system 9 will require a change in licensing, there are also financial considerations in an upgrade. We timed our upgrade to benefit from ASO. One advantage with the design of Essbase is the client compatibility. There is no hurry to upgrade the client at the same time as the server for the large body of clients. While we're running on 7.1.3, we still have a few corners where we have found 6.5.4 client software continuing to run happily. This feature makes upgrades a lot less painful. In my opinion, there is far more benefit from upgrading when you can take advantage of new features rather than waiting until a potential support crisis. Staying in the middle of the technology rather than on the cutting edge or in the past seems the best path to take. For what it's worth, I expect that version 7 will be supported for at least several more years, since the System 9 jump is a major leap in technology and change in licensing.

I don't know exact release dates of all versions. But as far as i can remember hyperion released 7.X (Aggregate Storage Option) in 2004, which was a great advancement.

Essbase Version 11 Error During Export

Hi,
I have just installed Hyperion Essbase version 11 on windows 2003 Server, It’s a fresh install on new machine. I am getting following error during nightly backup.
After "Calc All" we export data to the following location. Hyperion\APP\DB. Same Maxl script works fine on version 7 of Essbase. If i export data manually its works fine, only issue i have during nightly back (Automated). Data size is 1.4 GB; Please let me know if you need some more information.

i'll try to show a form table in which i can edit and add data
when i use the wizzard it is all fine with editing but i cant creat a new item because i have to insert my primary key and that shoud be done automatically.

i got a dropdown list in which i choose an item from col1 to just show items in my form with that value, here are more than one results possible

or add a line with the same col1 but different col2 and some col3-col4 values
but if i add a line i want to insert col2 to up to col4 (and the PK from col1 shoud be automatically insert from my dropwdown list i choosed before)

Hi Falk,
It is usually best to have a sequence number for the primary key on a table. If you need to restrict other fields to be unique, then you can create a constraint to do this.
To create a sequence number and apply this to a new record, you need to do two things:
Let us say that you have a table called TABLEX and this has a numeric primary key field of ID. Do the following in the SQL Commands window
1 - Create a sequence SQL object:
CREATE SEQUENCE "TABLEX_ID_SEQ" MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 99999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 NOCACHE NOORDER NOCYCLE2 - Create a trigger:

Primary Keys can be based on other values. You can use any value from the current record - for example, if you need to get the value from the XXX field, you just reference :NEW.XXX You can use this to pass into a function that returns your new primary key value. But I would recommend keeping to one field for your primary key as this makes things a lot simpler later on.

Hyperion Planning dynamic forms based on start and end date across years

Hi All,
I have a requirement where i need to be able to view a form showing periods across years that are dynamically built depending on the start and end dates. If i have a start date of 01/11/2009 and an end date of 31/7/2013 i want to be able to view a form that shows all of the periods (Jan,Feb etc) in a form that is driven by these dates, in addition it will need to show the actual scenario up to the current month and the forecast from the current month to the end date. So basically if a user inputs the start and end dates the form will display the relevant periods driven by these dates.
Any tips very much appreciated!

This is difficult to realize, but you can get quite far with a workaround. The first question is, where do you want to input your selection of time periods? Assuming you have a webform with the complete timeline in months and years and you type in the start period and end period.
Webforms have the option to suppress rows and columns.
This can be extended with option of empty cells or not empty cells.
You will need to apply your creativity on this.
Put every month-year combination in a column and add the suppression.
Calculate the timeline between start period and end period with a dummy member, so data exists for these and columns will show.
Maybe you will need to copy the required timeline into a separate version for this, to avoid having periods which were outside the selection and still have data.
I hope these hints help a bit in this challenge.

I have created a Report and Master Detail in the Sample Application on oracle.application.com. I am receiving an error on my Master Detail Form when clicking the <Previous and Next> buttons. I have viewed other issues like this in the forum but, it looks like everyone is a little different. Can anyone assist me with this error when browsing to the next record(s). Thanks in advance.

I've had a look at your page 21.
The problem was that the "Fetch Values 2" process was not conditional and was running in the "On Load - Before Header" process point. This meant that it was being run every time the page was being loaded. This process checks for the CUSTOMER_ID relating to the value in P21_CUST_FIRST_NAME which, because the "Fetch Row..." process hasn't been run at that point (it runs "On Load - After Header"), will always return the same CUSTOMER_ID value from when the page was first loaded. The Next/Previous buttons, however, moved the P21_CUSTOMER_ID forward/back one value (this became apparent when this field was changed from "Hidden and Protected" to "Text"). As a result, the data on the page was for "Albert" but the CUSTOMER_ID value was for whatever record was next/previous to the Albert one. Thus, moving next/previous always caused a mix of the actual data.
I have changed the "Fetch Values 2" process to be conditional on P21_CUSTOMER_ID being NULL. This way, the CUSTOMER_ID value is ONLY found by code when the page is first loaded. Thereafter, it is controlled by the Next/Previous functionality.

Javascript for calculating End Date

I have two date fields "Start_Date" and "End_Date". User selects the start date. Then the form takes that date and adds 365 days. puts the result in the "End_Date" field. I have attempted a couple of scripts and none have worked. So I attempted to first just get the selected date in the "Start_Date" field to show in the "End_Date" field. When I select a date like, "May 28,2008" the output reads "Object44194500". Using the following script in the "Start_date" field

And you can change the Account member Data type as Date. Then use these Accounts in the Planning Web Form. Form will give you facility to select the Date...

                  I need to update contract start and end dates at Item level in 'VA42' transaction, for this i am using user-exit 'USEREXIT_FIELD_MODIFICATION' in the include 'MV45AFZZ'. i am able to display the data into item level through my coding but the data is not getting updated into 'VEDA'
Note: No need to change contract start date and end date in header level. Only at item level i want to change dates.

VA42 user exit to update contract start and end dates at header

Hi.
My requirement : In VA42, if a user changes a contract end date at item level, I want the change to be reflected at header level automatically.
I have looked in MV45AFZZ, USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT and USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE. I am unable to affect the contract end date in those user exits, whatever I put in VEDA-VENDDAT or XVEDA-VENDDAT or whateverVEDA-VENDDAT, does not have any effect on the actual contract dates.
Can anyone help?
Please note that we are running 46C.

Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in data

I have a page that has a form to my issue table and on the same page, in a different region, I have a tabular report that shows the issue_activity for the specified issue. The primary key on the issue table is the issue_no which is a sequence and the primary key on the issue_activity table is (issue_no,line_no), where issue_no comes from the issue table. A parent-child relationship between issue and issue_activity.
When I add a row to my tabular form and type in some data, I get a (Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process.) error. When I look at the data, everything looks fine.
The issue_no and line_no are correctly set. My Issue_no and line_no fields on my report are hidden fields.

I rebuild the report using a tabular form and populated the primary key with a PL/SQL expression and now it appears to be working. P1_ISSUE_NO is the primary key on the issue table and I could not figure how to get it in the issue_no field of the tabular report when a new line was entered I ended up putting the following code in for the default for
issue_no on the report:

It works great.
