Event on Drop Down in UI

Hi All,
I need event for Drop Down field in UI, once selected any value then need this event to get trigger?\
my coding is like this in GET_P :
CASE iv_property.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
-> field type: event link
      rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_event_link.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_onclick.
-> event
      rv_value = 'SR_CNT'.                                        "#EC NOTEXT
ENDCASE.
Also in Event handler method I define this event & exists with name EH_ONSR_CNT.
But not getting triggered.
What I am missing?

actually drop down is already available in my case as I am doing this for already existing field,
I did coding like below to get it work:

once u did like this, completely logoff from Web Ui then login again to get it reflected....

Avoiding server events of drop downs, table rows--serious discontent:Users

Hi All,
We have developed Timesheet, satffing request system, Visa Requisition System, Dash board using WEB DYNPRO for JAVA. Each application has UI elements->drop downs,Table.
<b> We are facing serious discontent from onsite users( US,Germany, UK etc..) who get lot of server events while using each UI element( mentioned above). "It is absolutely unfriendly" is the comments we are getting from users</b>.
<u>CAN'T WE AVOID THIS....by upgrading EP version(currently we are using 6.40) or some other way.....</u>
Please let us know how can we OVERCOME this issue...

Hi,
See if you can find the "CompatibilityMode" property for the table. Set this property to "nw04plus" value. This should eliminate your issue.

Retrieving the drop down value used in wdr_select_options for default

Hello Experts,
I populated drop down using the method add_parameter_field by using WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS component.
Now my requirement is I need to default the value in some other parameter field based on drop down selection value.But the problem is WDDOMODIFY method is not triggreing while selecting the value from this dropdown for defaulting the value and even there is no method or option in the interface if_wd_select_options for creating an action while selecting the drop down like on slect in our manually creation drop down.
Please let me know if there is any solution for this.

                The eventhandlet ONENTER of WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS wont work for the drop down and also
                there is no ONSELECT event of drop down in select options.
                So i think there must be some kind of button action.
                As you told you need to default the value of selection screen field based on drop down selection
                why dont you remove that field from selection screen as you can however use the value later
                while executing depending on drop down value.

Can anyone help solve this frustrating drop down bug in Adobe Reader 8?

Has anyone encountered drop downs in their PDF form that don't work in Adobe Reader 8?
A simple example is my form (stripped back) here:

I've built a form with 22 sections in it, some 1800 lines of code, and now every single drop down has decided to not work in Adobe Reader 8.
The behaviour is when you select a drop down, it immediately deselects itself and you can't use the element at all.
I previously had this occur, and by simply deleting the element in LiveCycle Designers ES2 (which is what I've used to create the entire form) and recreating it exactly the same; seemed to fix it. However, I am so far past the point of being able to recreate every drop down this time, I need to actually know what's causing the bug.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

xfa.layout.relayout(); is required to re-render the entire form in order to have the field change color on Enter event. Without this, the field won't change color in Adobe Reader 8, this goes for all fields not just drop downs. Instead it'll just flicker the color change, xfa.layout.relayout(); makes the color change stick.
Thanks for your help, I've decided to take the set_focus() event off drop downs and keep it in place just for other field types such as the text input field.

Have an onchange event in SPD to update a list based on user selection of data view drop down?

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction: I have a list for Media announcements, each one of these announcements will have various types of documents associated (via look up field in the doc library). I am trying to have a data form web part (dropdown)
as the selector (as I am not liking the SharePoint list filter feature) to have a user be able to select the Media Title, then it refreshes the three web parts on the page (1 for the announcement, then one for type1 docs and one for type 2 docs.)
What is the best way to create an onchange event to have the selected option be connected to the first web part (media title on a list view) so that the information on the page can all be filtered?

Would you mind providing more details about your requirement? Are there one Announcements list and two Document Library in a page?
Suppose you have one Announcements list and two Document Library in a page, then you want to add a Drop Down Menu(not the OOTB SharePoint List Filter Web Part) to filter the
three List View Web Part dynamically.
There will be two workarounds:
1. Use the OOTB “Connections” feature of the list to “Get Filter Values From” one of the three lists, then there will be a “Select” button in that list, we can click it to filter
other two lists/libraries. This is a way without code though we may not have the Drop Down Menu;
2. Add three <iframe> in a page, then add a Drop Down Menu in this page. Now, we will need some JavaScript to listen to the onchange event of this Drop Down Menu. We can
get the values populated in the Drop Down Menu from one of the column of one of the list, when making a selection in it, we can pass an URL with query strings to the three iframes which will show the three different lists or libraries.
The second way requires some code to interact with Client Object Model cause we need to get values from a list, some script to handle the onchange event, which seems more suit
with your need.

OnSelect event for a Drop down UI Element in Webdynpro ABAP Select Options

Hi Experts
We have built our UI based on the webdynpro ABAP Select Options. We have a requirement that, when we change the value of a drop down box in the UI, I need to hide some fields. Can anybody help me out in handling of OnSelect event of a drop down box built using webdynpro ABAP Select Options. We are on SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP1.

as you seem to be already aware, the component is dynamically built.
so you would have to enhance the code that builds the element and insert a reference to a new action (enhancement) that could handle the onSelect event.
What is it about this that you particularly want help with?

Triggering "exit" event of a drop-down list in all instances of a table row

I have a drop-down list in a table row with multiple instances that performs a calculation on the exit event. This calculation draws information from 2 other dropdown lists contained above in non-repeating rows of the same table.
The desired behavior is: should the user change their choices above, all instances of the drop-down list below would perform the "Exit" event script accessing the new values above.
My script is:
RowOptionalCoverage.DdlCoverageType.execEvent("exit");     this works, sort of
It only updates the first instance of RowOptionalCoverage and none of the subsequent instances. The user can "Tab" through the instances and trigger the Exit event for each instance, but this is not a reasonable solution.
I have tried using the resolveNodes method without success. I understand, using the resolveNodes method may be necessary when referencing multiple instances of an object:
this.resolveNodes("RowOptionalCoverage[*].DdlCoverageType[*]").execEvent("exit");     doesn't work
xfa.resolveNodes("RowOptionalCoverage[*].DdlCoverageType[*]").execEvent("exit");      doesn't work
No doubt, I must be using the resolveNodes incorrectly or missing something? Probably something simple.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

PERFECT!!! Works right out of the box!
This has opened my eyes to the essential nature of loops. My form is very large and complex and functions correctly, Yet the coding is lacking in sophistication--no loops, functions, fragments or other code efficiencies. I am teaching myself (with the help here) and I have skipped learning and using some techniques when I could things to work using the limited skill set I have.
Sometimes, I just don't "get it". After I fail a few times, I skip it and try something else. Functions are a great example. I could utilize a bunch of these if I could only write one that works. It is frustrating. If I got one to work, I know could write a ton of them. But, there is some essential part of functions I am missing that's preventing me from having my first success with them. (I think it has to do with not understanding arguments completely).
Anyway, I am overjoyed with the solution you provided and I understand it well enough to be able to use again in other situations.

Getting the rawValue of a Drop-Down list on the "change" event

I am having problems getting the rawValue of a Drop-Down list on the "change" event. It seems that you have to select the same item twice in a row to get the rawValue to be the value of the selected item.
::dropdownlist onChange event::
xfa.host.messageBox(this.rawValue);
On the first time a value is selected you get 'null'. The second time the same value is selected, you get the selected value.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Also, I CANNOT use xfa.event.newText, I need to use the rawValue of the dropdownlist.

The change event occurs before the rawValue is changed. If you NEED to use the rawValue you'll need to use a later event. Perhaps you could use exit so that it gets triggered when the field loses focus?

For better Visiblity(as i didnt get any replies) of my issue i am posting the same thing in the ABAP General as well.
In my dynpro ALV i have 5 fields. in that 2ed field has the drop down list.
if i select any of from the list, based on the particular selected value, some value should be reflect in the 3rd field of the ALV.
Ex:

How to open the Drop Down List on the "enter" event?

I am trying to find a way for the users to see the expanded drop down list options without using their mouse to click on the down-arrow.
I am able to add script to the "enter" event so when user key-broad-tabbed into the drop down field, the first items of the list shows up:
dropdown1.selectedIndex = 0
However, it would be nice if at the same time, they can also see the rest of the options within the drop down expanded.
Any help/hints would be appreciated

It would even be nice if the PDF could default with the small arrow already displaying instead of having having to click the field, then click the arrow. I'm just hoping adobe would add this in a future version.

Drop Down Lists and Value Change Events

I have 4 drop down lists each with a set of values from the database.
Based on the value of the first list(ValueChangeEvent only for list1) , I fetch data from the database and set the 'selected value' in the other lists.
I have a Submit button which takes values from these 4 lists and puts it in the database.
Problem:
I change list 2 through list 4 and hit a Submit button which inserts all the values in the database.
However,on Clicking the Submit button I never get the new selected values, it always refers to the previously fetched values.
I tried to recreate this case in a Sandbox without a database , Here is the code:

I just realized the reason why this is not working, I found the reason in your article Populating Child Menu's article, I am just
putting it as a reference here.
One concern is that the skipping of the UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES will also cause that the new values of the menu's which have immediate="true" set won't be set in the backing bean. This can partly be fixed by getting the new value from the ValueChangeEvent inside the valueChangeListener method and assign it to the appropriate property. But this won't work for other menu's of which the valueChangeListener isn't been invoked. This would cause problems if you select a child menu value and then select the parent menu back to null and then reselect it to same value again, the child menu which will show up again would remain the same selection instead of null while its child will not be rendered! To solve this we need to bind the menu's to the backing bean so that we can use UIInput#setValue() and UIInput#getValue() to set and get the actual values.+ The JSF lifecycle will set and get them in the RESTORE_VIEW and RENDER_RESPONSE phases respectively.+
I am not sure I understand whether or not it is a limitation but the reason above is valid and I rolled back to binding my menus and getting to work with that.
Is Binding UI components a wise idea because most of the attributes can be programmed using properties in Backing Beans unless you have to build new components?

Drop-down menu can't merge my events iPhoto 11

I am having trouble getting the "drop down" tab to appear consistantly when I try to "merge" non-contiguous "events" in iPhoto 11.

Here's the situation I just walked through the steps again. Earlier today I was successful merging two events in my library. I selected my Event folders I wanted to merge, then clicked the 'Events' tab at the top of the page, and selected "merge events" from the drop-down. That time it worked.
Then, I just opened iPhoto again, made sure the Events was hi-lighted(side bar), selected two non-contiguous Events while holding down the 'command key', went to the top again to select the 'Events' tab, now the drop down menu does not show a "merge events". This time I was not able to merge Events.
Any suggestions or should I call customer service?

Enum drop down select event

I would like an event to be fired each time the user selects a selection from the drop down list of an enum. I know I can use the Value Change event, but I want the event to fire also when the user selects the same selection as the last time (which Value Change event does not fire on). I've tried the Mouse Up event but it seems to not fire when the Mouse Up is on the drop down list. Any ideas?

This may not be exactly what you had in mind but it does work ok, for a workaround. I basically reset the value of the enum after the selection. I added a status indicator to display the last action taken. I hope this helps.

I am using AutoComplete(af:autosuggest) in a af:inputText. I want to show the default drop down box when the inputText gets the focus. I don't want the user to start typing to get suggestions.

Hi,
its a behavior tag and cannot be accessed from outside. Use a single select choice component (e.g a model driven combo box) if you want a starting set of choices
