Event Server supports clustering / transactional safety?

Does this new Event Server application server support clustering and/or transaction safety?
I.e. in a trading type of application, how do you distribute load across multiple event servers and also, to what extent can you lose messages should a server instance suddenly fail?

The 2.0 release does not support clustering, but clustering support is planned for a future release. Whether messages/events can be lost depends on the messaging system and protocol being used to send events to an Event Server instance. The Event Server provides a framework for plugging into JMS as well as most any socket-based messaging system. In environments where throughput is extremely high, it is common to run an application in a hot/hot configuration on duplicate hardware to avoid losing messages during failover for messaging protocols that allow message loss.

Fetch Events & Server Support

I have spent the past few weeks developing a custom calendar interface application in C#. The ultimate goal for the app is to have it be able to sync a user's Outlook and Oracle calendars ( as some users prefer one over the other but want to know when the other is busy, etc. ) Thus far I have been successful in formatting and sending events to the Oracle Calendar Server. My next task is to be able to fetch events that would appear in the "New Entries" folder in the In-Tray of the user's Oracle Agenda. My first guess was that to do this I would need to call the CSDK_FetchEventsByRange function and pass it a combination of Exclusion flags. However, upon using the CSDK_FetchEventsByRange function I received the error "CAPI_STAT_LIBRARY_SERVER_SUPPORT". There isn't much documentation as to exactly what this error means so I assumed that it meant that the version of the server software that the campus is running doesn't support some functionality of this function. I checked using the GetCapabilities func and it says that our server version is "4.0 and above". I'm not sure how new this is.
Going on this guess I attempted to implement the older CAPI_FetchEventsByRange function however I have thus far been unable to get it to work right (it always throws an unknown internal exception. I suspect I may have converted a parameter to the wrong c# data type)
So, before I spend too much more time attempting to get the CAPI function to work, I'd like to make sure I'm not barking up the wrong tree.
Is the FetchEventsByRange function the correct one to retrieve events in the "New Entries" folder?
Also does my version of the Calendar Server really not support CSDK_FetchEventsByRange or is there some other cause for it not to work?

I thought I should post back and let everyone know my progress on the situation.
I have yet to find any way to get the CSDK version of the Fetch function to work with our server version. I have been able, however, to implement the older CAPI version of the function and get it to work (after a great deal of finagling with data types). So to the others who are having difficulty with the CSDK, I would recommend going back and trying out the older functions.

Does Oracle App Server 10.1.3.1 support global transactions?

I'm asking because it seems it doesn't. My stateless EJB calls an EJB in another application server, but the transaction is not propagated. Why is that?
Does it matter which inittial context factory or which TransactionalObject?
Do the different application server vendors (Oracle, Websphere ect.) support global transactions between each other?
I cannot find anything about this in the Oracle App server documentation.
Can anyone help?

Have you look at the OC4J transaction propagation that used the OracleAS transaction manager?

You should ensure that the server has a license key that supports clustering.

I don't know where can I get the license key that supports clustering. And I don't know what the server is, is it the web server like Tomcat or the Unix or others?

Based on my research, the issue was caused by the Browser Service account was changed to the domain account. In your scenario, you can try to connect to the Analysis Service using <Servername>:2383 instead of instance name. Or you can change the
Browser Service account to "Local System". Here is a blog that describes the detail informatin about it error, please see:

Don't qoute me, but I don't think so. I think you have to have an "Enterprise" edition to support clustering and I think the last version that had an Enterprise Ed. was 8.1.
I could be wrong though.. .I'd like to know about this as well.

Crystal Report Server 2008 - Out of Memory in Event Server

Hi All,
        We run a Crystal report Server 2008 on a Windows 2003 Server Std Edition, with 4 GB of Memory and enough Harddisk space(C: More than 25 GB and D: around 155 GB). The Server is running with MS SQL Server 2005 and CRS 2008 on MySQL and Tomcat. Other than this there is a transactional application running using MS SQL Server 2005 which creates a new database everyday.
       We have Scheduled reports which were working fine for an year, since last month we were getting the "Out of Memory in the event Server" error and the CRS stops to schedule reports, only after restarting the server and SIA it allows us to schedule the jobs in time. But this happens every once in 2 days. Am not sure what is causing this problem. Currently there are no backup jobs running and no OS Scheduled jobs are running and also no error messages in the Application log other than the "Out of Memory in the Event Server".
       Could anyone help to sort out what may cause this?

SQL Server Failover Clustering error

Hi All,
I am currently setting up 2-node SQL Server cluster but I am getting error when doing the failover test from Node2 to Node1.
Here is the quick overview of what I have so far.
1. Setup the failover cluster for both nodes, public and private network, cluster disks for Quorum, MSDTC and SQL, etc.
2. Run validation configuration before creating the cluster. Validation report completed successfully with no errors/warnings.
3. Created cluster, created MSDTC cluster and installed SQL server on both nodes.
Now I am doing some failover test on whether cluster resources will failover from Node1 to Node2 and Node2 to Node1.
Failover Test: Active Node is Node1.
1. Disable Public network on Node1.
2. Failover to Node2 -> successful
3. Enable Public network on Node1.
Problem:
After the failover to Node1, I tried to failback the resources from Node2 to Node1 by disabling the public network on Node2 (which is the active Node after the failover from Node1 to Node2) but the cluster resources won't failback to Node1.
Failback from Node2 to Node1 -> failed
1. Disable Public network on Node2.
2. Failback to Node1 -> failed
- Cluster Name and Cluster IP ->
failed
- SQL cluster group (SQL name, SQL IP address, Analysis, SQL server and SQL Server Agent) ->
failed
MSDTC cluster group -> failed back successfully to Node1
3. Enable Public network on Node 2.
4. Manually online Cluster Group and SQL cluster group
I tried to Manually online the Cluster Group and SQL cluster group but it CANNOT be online unless I enable the Public network on Node2. I have checked on the cluster event log and I am getting some event ID 1077 and 1069 errors and Event ID 1069 and 1205.
Here are some of the logs on the cluster events.
Event ID 1069: The Cluster service failed to bring clustered service or application 'SQL_Group' completely online or offline. One or more resources may be in a failed state. This may impact the availability of the clustered service or application.
Event ID 1205: Cluster resource 'SQL IP Address 2 (db-vip)' in clustered service or application 'SQL_Group' failed.
Anyone experience the same issue before? Appreciate if someone can point me to right direction to resolve the issue.

BTW, failover and failback works perfectly when I try to reboot the Active node. Resources failed over successfully from Node1 to Node2 and vice versa when I reboot the server.

In above node test process 6, after “disable public network on node 2” the two cluster should still have private heartbeat network communication, check can you ping node 1 now?
Check event viewer, whether you received Event 1069 in node 1? Refer to this article to troubleshoot this issue:

In the Failover Cluster Management snap-in, if the cluster you want to manage is not displayed, in the console tree, right-click Failover Cluster Management, click Manage a Cluster, and then select or specify the cluster that you want.
If the console tree is collapsed, expand the tree under the cluster you want to manage, and then expand Services and Applications.
In the console tree, click a clustered service or application.
In the center pane, if you cannot see the clustered resource that you want to view, expand one or more visible resources until you see the clustered resource.
Right-click the resource you want to view, click Properties, and then click the Policies tab.
Under Pending timeout, view the setting. Make sure it allows enough time for the associated application or service to start.

Error starting Server with Clustering License

          Hello
          I was using WebLogic Application server ver 6.0 evaluation copy
          and everything was working fine. When I have updated the license
          to use the clustering capabilities of Weblogice server , I was
          not able to start the weblogic server and the server was throwing
          following exception.

Just to be clear, the WLS 6.0 software downloaded from the web site is
          the full product and supports clustering, in-memory replication, etc.
          The evaluation license packaged with the software does not provide keys
          to enable these features. To evaluate these features, you need to
          contact your BEA sales person to get a license to turn these features
          on.

You post same question 3 times.Please avoid this practice on Forum, I have merged the same threads .
When you setup VM/host for cluster, you require installing Windows Operating System in nodes and Domain Controller. And domain controller is necessary because of domain environment. About SQL Server clustering, for setting up domain environment, you should
do the following things.
•Installing Active Directory on Domain Controller;
•Setting up DNS Server;
•Joining Cluster Nodes in Domain Environment.
You also need to note if there are no pre-existing Active Directory when you can deploy cluster nodes in an environment, there is detail about
how to configure at least one of the cluster nodes as a domain controller.
There is videos about setting up SQL Server 2008 cluster on Windows 2008, you can review them.

Does lion server support a single email address across multiple devices??

I am looking to move from an outdated Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 to OS X Lion Server but I am unsure as to how Lion will handle email. I do not want to spend money on a new windows server if I can get a Mac Mini Server to do the job. I am a very small business with a number of email accounts for a couple employees and need access to email and calendar from both the office iMac's and my Macbook Pro when on the road. My IT guy says I need Exchange but he's been off base on a few other items recently and I wanted to check with other sources.
I have 2 new iMac's, a MacBook Pro, an iPad1 and and iPhone4 on the mac side of things and 2 windows computers running XP. I would get rid of the windows computers completely if not for my CAD program which runs best not in a virtual machine mode.
How well will email and calendar entries sync across devices?

I have a very similar setup at my office. Lion Server will push email, calandar, contacts to all of your apple product with out a hitch.
As far the Windows XP machines, you can access email over IMAP with Thunderbird, and calandars via sunbird or the built in web app.
I would ditch the exchange server move to Mac OS X Server, and never look back.

I have a 2010 Mac Mini running Yosemite and Server which I use
as a headless home server.
I have is set up to allow screen sharing and can connect to it and
control it with my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPhone, and a 2011 Mini Server
that I use as an HTPC.

I have iTunes Home Sharing set up on it and have my entire iTunes
library on it. I can then use any of my Macs to play Movies or Songs
from it and only keep locally a select subset of that on my individual
devices.
Rather than and update server, I utilize Server's Caching Service. The caching
server will duplicate any update download (system or MacApp Store purchases)
any time a device that is connected to my network down loads one. The update will
then be stored locally and all other devices will download the update from it which
can be faster than from Apple directly. This has the advantage of only having to download
once with limited bandwidth internet connections. There is also an Update Server service
available, but it is some what more involved in setting up. However, it will download
and store all available updates.
There is another thing as well if you do not care for syncing things like Contacts, Calendar, etc.
to iCloud, you can set Server up to sync these items across devices locally.

Just install it using the EJB3 profile in the installer. Don't use the "All" profile
and think EJB3 is included in it :)

Does Oracle 8i or 9i server support solaris X86 platform ?
