Ever Hear of a "CC.0 Document"?

Here's the sad story: I was downsized from my Graphic Designer job last fall. It seemed like a good time to get out on my own, but perhaps it wasn't. At work we were updated to the CC environment, but at home I was still using CS 3.0 for freelance work. I upgraded to CC in December. All was working well, but business was VERY slow, and I found it necessary to abandon my subscription in February. I really thought about a complete career change, but the warm weather has brought renewed vigor. I went to Adobe's website to see about renewing my CC subscription.
I was only able update my eMail in the account manager on this visit to the site, intending to returnto finish the re-commitment.
Now the crux: Departing the Adobe site, ALL of my Indesign files have been mysteriously converted in the "Kind" column to an "Indesing CC.0 Document," and WILL NOT OPEN in my CS 3.0 application. And when I say ALL indesign files, I mean also those created in any PREVIOUS release of Indesign. (Even, unfortunately, on my backus drive, which just happened to be plugged in at the time.)
Any ideas?

This just happened today, so I have not contacted Adobe, nor have I renewed my subscription to CC yet, to see if CC will open these "CC.0" documents. I will contact them tomorrow (EST).
ANY Indesign docuemnt that I try to open in my CS3 –– either by double clicking, dragging to icon, or opening from a pulldown menu –– gives me the two-panel (paraphrased) "You are missing a plug-in required to open … Please update your plug-in … update your Indesign" message. I usually see this when someone gives me a file in a newer version than the one I am using here at home (CS3).
Weird, eh?
These files all were originally created in CS3. I keep CS3, because I still have clients with old PageMaker files that anything newer than CS3 won't touch.
Yes, I suppose CC is still installed on my machine. My subscription lapsed, but I did not remove the application. So, your "registry" theory has merit.
I am just hoping that when I re-establish my subscription, the integrity of the files will be restored, and will open in CC.
Of course, everything is under deadline. I'll be up late creating my month-end stuff from scratch. Fun!

Why dont i ever see downloaded pdfs in the "documents section" in adobe reader on my ipad? They only stay in the Acrobat.com section and when I try to move them the "documents" partion is not listed as an option. Only the folders i have within acrobat.com are listed

The pdfs have been uploaded to Acrobat .com (from my computer) I open the Adobe reader on my ipad and see them in the acrobat partition of the reader. I tap on them and they open. To test whether they were truly downloaded ,I turn off wifi and they still open. I consider this "downloaded" BUT... they stay in the acrobat.com partition of the reader. Nothing ever goes or lives in the "Documents" partition..nor can I move anything there.....Why not? What is the"documents" partition there for if nothing lives or can be moved there?

HELP PLEASE! Home directory is full???? Anyone ever hear of this before??

I try to open Mail and this is the pop-up that I get:
"Mail cannot update your mailboxes because your home directory is full. You must free up space in your home folder before using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move documents to another volume."
And then it QUITS.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy this????? This just started after using Tiger for about a week. I cleaned out my emails last week and deleted unused folders too. There should be gobs of space.

Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
If you are denied copying the MaIl folder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import all mailboxes located at Home > Library > Mail. Select OK and allow the import process to complete. A new Envelope Index file will also be created within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported and are available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder and the old Envelope Index file from the Desktop - if you were required to move the old Envelope Index file from the Mail folder in order to copy it.
This should resolve the problem.

Anyone ever hear a loud high pitch noise

For the past week, I have heard a high pitched noise from my imac. It usually occurs when viewing videos and will go away once computer is shut off. It does ring when booting back up then goes away until a video or song is being played on the computer. Apple Support told me it wasn't something they could fix because the noise was heard during reboot. Any ideas? Thanks

Please describe "loud"... I hear once in a while a clicking noise that I know is coming from the hard drive while there is a lot of activity. It is noticeable, but I wouldn't say it's loud. My MacBook Pro does the same thing and at some point I was concerned but I found out that these noises are "normal" during a lot of disk activity.
I would still call or bring it to an Apple service store like the above suggestion, just in case! If you don't live near a store, maybe they will be willing to hear the noise over the phone? Just a thought.

in the tech writing field and no one has heard of such a creature.
I did find a "Solutions Management" tool that looks to be geared
toward financial, but that is it.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Perhaps you should investigate internally created tools? I
was once asked back to a former employer. Among the listed
"requirements" for the job was an application called "SiteBuilder".
The hiring Manager thought this was an application anyone in the
webmastering world would know. But it was simply something the
company had developed internally.

Anybody EVER hear of this one????

hi everyone. i'm desperate for help and appreciate any assistance here. i have a 60 GB iPod, and i have about 30 GB of music on iTunes and the iPod. all of a sudden, at the bottom of my iTunes, it says i have 8,663 songs (which is correct), but that the total GB count is 4,381.02 GB which is physically impossible!!! to top it off, when i connected my iPod, the program, thinking it had over four thousand gigs of music to put into a 60 gig iPod, chose to sync some songs and delete thousands of others.
to make a long story short, i lost the vast majority of my songs on my iPod and even after uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, the program still says i have over 4,000 GB of music from the 8,000 songs. i can't find help or answers anywhere. if anyone can help me out, i'd be eternally grateful.

Anyone ever hear back from Itunes Support?

I am active duty military and lost all my music due to a hard drive crash. I know I should have backed it up, and in the future I will. I went through the process of submitting a request to redownload 3 times and have never heard back from anyone. Sure the auto reply shows up immediately, but never anything else. I am leaving soon for the Navy and will not have the luxury of having my music because no one will answer me.
Any advice? Anyone had any luck with the itunes support people.

Sure seems to me that Apple should be bending over backwards for our active military service people. Keep trying! Wish I could do more.

Ever hear of this?

I've made plenty of music cd's w/o a problem.Now when I try to mix 2 songs together, perfectly on beat ,when I play back 1 track is way off beat.I thought I was going crazy but I took the exact same song and matched it perfect and still when it plays back it's way off beat.Can anyone tell me what's going on?thnx

You could try a reinstall but I would be surprised if that was it.
Let me see if I have this right
You get 2 songs (any songs doesn't matter which ones right?) and you visually? line them up?
Then when you play them one of them dramtaically slows down or speeds up after starting off at the right tempo?
Does having more than one track loaded cause this?
Having 3 tracks make it worse or the same?
Ok then if you have a metronome of some sort play each of the files in windows media and get their tempo (bpm)
Now play them in AA but alternatively mute each one
Swap the tracks over (ie move track 1 to track 2 and vice versa)
Play them again
What are the properties of each track are they the same eg 16/44.1
My money is on the tracks mainly because I don't think its possible for AA to play at different rates unless the tracks (eg wav files) are recorded at different rates eg 48 vs 44.1)
I know it all sounds crazy but I'm just trying to narrow down the problem - if you can't find the cause you got no chance of finding the cure :-)

Lots of apps open, volume gets really low?

We are having weird issues with 2 iPhone 4 running iOS 5.01.
Have more than 13 apps running, click the sleep button, the click is super soft, ringer is soft, slide to unlock soft. Manually close all the apps volume is back to normal.
Anyone ever hear about that?

It sounds like a 2nd gen shuffle, maybe. When I use my 2nd gen shuffle, and the battery power is used up, it just cuts off. I have never experienced the sound volume getting low.
Make sure you don't have an issue with your headphones, by using it with another device, or trying a different set with your shuffle.
Have you done a Restore on the shuffle? The Restore button is on the shuffle's Settings screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings. If the cause is a software or settings problem on the shuffle, the Restore should fix it.

Documents folder is too messy!!

Hey, I was curious if there is a way to decludder the documents folder of all the apps folders in it, only keeping my actual "documents."

The folder marked Documents is actually a misnomer. Ever since Apple started including the Documents folder, some third party developers have used it as an excuse for storing critical application preference files for the specific user. A key example of this is Microsoft Entourage which likes to create a Microsoft Users folder in the Documents folder. As a result, what once was just the purvue of the user has become indeed too messy as you indicate. Appleworks also uses it to store recently saved documents. And it is not the only one that uses the Documents folder against what users might assume would be its primary use. I have no less than the following in my Documents folder
Microsoft User Data
Roxio Converted Items
Yahoo! Conversations
Scanner Output
AppleWorks User Data
EyeTV Archive
None of which have I put there myself. So I would recommend that you use the Home folder to create your own subfolders with actual documents. And if you want a quick way to access that folder in the Open/Save dialog box, simply add it to the Finder sidebar on the left. It will appear in the Open/Save Dialog box when you hit the downward pointing triangle in that box to expand its contents to show the sidebar and the files.
The only way to declutter the Documents folder is to ask developers not to use it for storing files that are better stored in the Library folder.

when& how to this document show in cleared item..?

Hi Praveen,
U have to understand the functionality of open and cleared line items. When u use posting key 31, u are posting a vendor invoice. Any invoice (or any document for that matter) when posted will have the open status.
Now that invoice will get cleared when it is actually cleared against another document (outgoing payment in ur case)
Goto F-53 and give the required inputs (amount ,vendor number , bank account etc) and process any of the open items(ie original invoice) in that vendor account. Once that payment document get posted, it clears the original invoice also. Just test it and u'll understand.
The same can be done in automatic payment also, but u need to do all the customizing in FBZP and then run the program through F110. That also clears the open vendor invoices.

Can't remember password for password protected document

I can't remember the password I generated for a pages document. Is there anyway to unlock document with administrative password? PLEASE HELP!

There exist software that will allow you to unlock it. I know word has some free software that does that you can find online. I am not sure about pages. In the future, make sure you write every password you ever use to anything in a document. If you aren't comfortable with this document being on your computer, save it to a thumb drive or SD card. Store this card somewhere safe where no one will ever touch it.

Overwriting an existing document in a KM folder

Hi.
In EP5 (SP5) you got prompted ("do you want to overwrite or not") when ever you tried to upload a document to a KM folder and that document already existed in that specific folder.
In EP6 (NW04) though you are not prompted anymore but the file is uploaded with an "_[number]" added to the document id (you are informed though that a file already exists and that the new file is saved as described before).
Is there a setting somewhere where you can choose to be prompted or not when uploading an already existing document to a folder or do we have to live with this feature?

This should be fixed in Stack 11. The behavior is not configurable. You now get something like this:
<b>An item with this name already exists. You can overwrite the existing item or create a new item with the same name or a different name. Overwriting the existing item will retain any additional information associated with that item such as the description or any annotations.
o Overwrite the existing item, retaining associated information
o Save As [ uploaded filename in input box ]
[Ok] [Cancel]</b>
The overwrite option is selected by default.

Document Category not being generated Automatically for AR transaction type

we have defined some transaction type in AR. But the corresponding document category is not being automatically generated
Kindly help

This doesn't look feasible, the only issue I ever encountered with this was the document category not being updated if the transaction type was updated. Maybe the customer has some custom triggers which are preventing the record from being inserted into FND tables. You can easily debug this by opening the form and testing in a TEST environment.
