Example of Simulation SharePoint Project

I have read lots of SharePoint and its administration and the next phase is to learn how to do real based coding as a SP developer. I have read the recommended website to understand deeply in coding (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/office/dn448483) and
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/office/dn448488). Of course I also have read lots of blog.
I have come to a point that I need to do simulation SharePoint project as a training to gain practical skills as a SP developer.
The main problem I'm facing is that I do not know what requirement specification is needed to create a real based project (in smaller size) as a training. Do you guys have any suggestion of a project with its requirement specification based on reality.

Why don't you create a Expense request form
User requests to get reimbursed from their company
Fields on the form include
Name - Auto fill based on logged in user
Title -short description
Department - dropdown of departments. they should pick the one they want to charge the expense against (or use general ledger account numbers) your choice (marketing, finance, sales, product development)
Allow the user to create (n) number of line items to each request
Each line item will have a
-Date field,
-Description of expense
-Sub account number/category dropdown (Milage, food,l odging)
-Amount spent
- ability to attach a receipt
the form should then calculate the total sum of the amount
on submit the form will kick off a workflow to go to an approver. (each department from the form dropdown has a different approver). The approver should receive an email stating they have a request to approve. After the request is approved/rejected user
should receive an email with the status.
This is can be scalable and a lot more logic can be built into something like this
Have Fun!

    MS Project 2010 Server
How to move a single MS Project plan and it's SharePoint project site from a PWA server to another PWA server (one at a time)
I have 2 Project PWA servers, i know how to copy all the databases (Publishing, Draft, Reporting, archive, content) from one SQL server and copy it to the other PWA server so both server can be identical.
I need to only move a single project from a PWA server to another,
Moving the Project plan, actual time data, SharePoint site with all it's content
Is there a 3rd party tool that can be added on to the server to help me move single project plans? to different PWA servers?

    Hi Amalaraja Fernando,
I'm not sure that there is one more tool that combines all these features. But you may take a look at these solutions:

  • Merging different slides in Simulation Software project

Is there way of using the Timeline function to merge slides in Simulation Software project?

I was thinking of combining the slides because I observe when I publish a project, the transition from one slide to the next, is pretty evident and I was wondering whether by combining the slides, will it ensure a smoother transition.
If I'm doing something wrong, hope you can point it out and how I can rectify it.

  • Active directory integration SharePoint Project server 2013

Hello all, Looking for a definitive answer.  Our environment runs in Active Directory 2003. We are looking into upgrading our Sharepoint and Project Server from 2007 to 2013.  Is it a true statement that SharePoint 2013 will not run in a 2003
    Active Directory environment.

AD 2003 with SP2 is supported

  • Requirement Specification for a SharePoint Project

I need to learn about developing in SharePoint and do you guys have a requirement specification that I can use it to create a customized SP solution?
It is difficult to be creative in order to create a requirement specification for a home made SP project. The purpose is to improve my skills in SharePoint development.

    Hi
    Sakura Data ,
SharePoint 2013 will support this classic model well-known to all SharePoint developers. SharePoint Solutions are still considered a good option, and in some cases the only option, for customizing SharePoint.
SharePoint Solutions can be developed using Visual Studio 2012, which includes a number of supported templates. They can integrate with external applications using Business Connectivity Services (BCS), Web
Services, or a custom Service Application. There are two types of SharePoint Solutions: Farm Solutions and Sandboxed Solutions.
For developing SharePoint Solutions, you can refer to the article:

  • Start with SharePoint & Project Server anew

    Hi there,
I am having a lot of issues with my newly installed SharePoint 2013 and Project Server 2013 with a SQL Server 2012. There are several database creation and authentication errors despite using a the recommended administrator accounts. I had success resolving
a few issues but I guess the others are just too much that I'm wanting to delete my 2 site collections and hope to start anew. Now I want to know if deleting the site collections will also delete the project service applications and the PWA database files
and entries in the content database files.
If things come to worse, I am planning to re-install SharePoint and Project Server again. Can I just simply drop the databases related to SharePoint from the SQL server?
I am still learning and hope you can help.
    Regards,
    Trev

    Hi Trev,
Deleting site collections will not remove any service applications, those are separated. Don't drop the databases from SQL, just try to manage everything from within SharePoint. If you wish to remove any content databases, please do it via the GUI or by
using PowerShell. If you drop databases from SQL, SharePoint will still have references to the databases, which will result in more errors.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • SharePoint Project Management-Lots of Projects

Hi, I'm in the beginning stages of researching how project management works on SharePoint and how it can work with our projects.  Every client would have a project and that would mean a lot of projects. We would create a couple different
templates for the different types of projects.  It would be best if each project had it's own document library/calendar etc.  How would this best be approached?  We are regional, perhaps each region would have it's own area - or even each office
and the multiple projects would be under there?  I'm looking for ideas for setup.  Thank you!

    Hello Nalani,
At one customer we had a site collection per department and a team site per project of that department. But it all depends on your organisation. How many projects and project documents are we talking about?
Btw, just for my understanding. Do you have other requirements besides storing documents of your projects? If you also want to manage portfolio, project plans, tasks, assignments, risks maybe Project Server can be an interesting thing to take a look at:

  • How to... install SP1 for SharePoint, Project Server, Project Pro2013

    Hello,
Is there a document with the process to install SP1 for all the Project Server 2013 items?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I don't believe there is one for Project Server 2013 but the SharePoint 2013 one will cover it, just include the Project Server 2013 patches as well as the SharePoint ones.:

  • Sharepoint Project Management Solution

I would require some guidelines or steps or project proposal regarding create a project management or document tracking  site creation in SharePoint 2013, any help would be appreciated.
    Journey Man

    Hi,
You can leverage the Project Site template available in the SharePoint 2013 and it will support all the KPI,tracking and monitoring the project.
Project Site Template in SharePoint 2013
If your budget allows and wanted to have full pledge project tracking capabilities, then go for "Project Server 2013".

  • Making the SharePoint project "Safe"

I deployed a SharePoint solution consisting of 4 webparts. When I try to add one to a page on my SharePoint site, it gives me this error: "a web part or web form control on this page cannot be displayed or imported. the type could not be found or it
    is not registered as safe."
I've read that I need to add a Safe Control element to web.config and each webpart's Elements.xml file. I took care of that, and double-checked the namespace values on all aforementioned files. But I also read that third-party DLLs need to be signed.
So what is considered a third-party? Are there steps I'm missing? If the solution is safe and I still receive that error, then how do I ensure that the "type" (whatever that is) is "found"?
Note: The only DLL in the project that the project itself hasn't generated is Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Library. Is that considered a third party DLL? If so how can I check its properties to ensure it is signed or whatnot?
    Chris Lee

How are you deploying your webparts?
If you deploy them via a package (WSP), then any types in your solution should be registered as safe (in the web.config) for you. You shouldn't ever need to manually add safe controls to the web.config.
Did you package additional dlls (existing dll's not compiled by your project) with your solution package?

  • DAQ Quadrature Code Example and Simulated Mode

    Hi,
I have what I hope is a quick question:
I currently am trying to develop .Net software for an NI-DAQmx device. I am
attempting to read data from either 1 or 2 attached quadrature devices sampled
at 1000hz with the resulting data streamed to a file on a Windows machine. I
was wondering which code example(s) would be applicable and how I can run the
example both in simulated and live modes.
    Thank you,

Hi, you can find those examples on your computer. You just have to go to the NI-DAQ folder under National Instruments on your C drive. For example on my computer the file path is this : C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples  in there you can find many examples of text based DAQmx.

  • Visual Studio error when trying to open a Feature in a SharePoint Project (An exception occurred while calling 'OnImportsSatisfied')

I am getting the following error message in both Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2013 when I try to open any "Feature" in a SharePoint 2013 project.
An exception occurred while calling the 'OnImportsSatisfied' method on type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.SharePoint.Designers.Package.ViewModels.FeatureViewModel'.
(the stack trace then continues on for ages - shown in full below)
I _think_ this started happening when I ran Windows Update recently.
This happens for both old and new projects, both Sandbox and Farm solutions.
    I have tried:
Removing all Windows Updates from the past week
Removing all previous versions of Visual Studio (2012)
Completely uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio (with reboots inbetween)
    Installing VS2013 Update 1
Nothing that I do seems to fix this ..

    Hi
I had same issue. Below is the solution
    Installing
"Visual Studio 2012 Update 3" usually solves this problem. (You can download it through microsoft's official site at
