Examples database for a demo

Hi,
Do you know where I can download the excel that is used in the Indian Population's video? The one that is posted in the home  (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/powerBI/default.aspx) with Visualize title.
Altough if there're more downloads like the Chicago Crime Data or the food inspections that are in support it'll we helpful.
Many Thanks
David Bonet

Hi David - I put together a bunch of crime data from the City of Portland:
http://civicapps.org/datasets/crime-incidents
It's a very large file (90mb), but it makes a pretty demo: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=D76BB7E3B1B7C6F4%211280
You'll need to configure your Power Map demo within this file, which isn't very difficult, the application will easily map out the location information.

    Best regardsJust like an OLTP database, the schema design and its data is 100% dependant on the business needs and (if done properly) the result of a thorough data analysis. Any kind of a pre-designed sample would be near worthless to any actual application.

  • SAP DEMO Database for SAP b1 Version for HANA

    I was wondering if anyone can Help. I have installed the SBODEMO database on SAP B1 version for SAP Hana. V9.0 PL4 and then upgraded to PL9HF (901.00 to 902.001) the SBOCOMMON upgraded ok but SBODEMO database failed on the pre upgrade checks with "Parameter type error in stored procedure SBO_SP_TranasctionNotification and refers to Note 134078. I logged it with SAP and they have said uninstall the SBO DEMO database and then reinstall. Can anybody provide details on how to do this as there are no uninstaller just for the DEMO db as it was installed during the SAP B1 server installation.

    Hi Nathan,
    You can uninstall using uninstall.bin typically located in /opt/sap/SAPBusinessOne. If you deleted /opt/sap/SAPBusinessOne or the uninstall fails you can use the command shown below.
    //Check for B1 rpm files
    rpm -q -a | grep B1
    //remove B1 rpm files
    rpm -q -a | grep B1 | xargs rpm -e
    After uninstalling I would recommend deleting the directory (rm -rf  /opt/sap/SAPBusinessOne).
    Best regards,

  • Backup/Restore for my demo database

    Howdy all. I am running Oracle 10g Standard Edition on Windows 2K Server. I have the following situation ...
    I would like to make a standard demo database for my company. This database would be put on several machines and used by sales people to demo our software to possible customers. I need to be able to restore this database on a machine with Oracle 10g installed and then run our software on it.
    I can make the database and run our software on it just fine on my machine. I am, however running into problems when trying to learn how Oracle and RMAN work with backups and restoring those backups. I am coming from the MSSQL2K environment where backup/restore is fairly simple and straightforward.
    Will somebody please give me a basic idea of what I need to do in order to take the database on my machine and back it up and then restore it on another machine. I don't want to have the restore depend on a given file/directory structure. Our software depends on two tablespaces in the Oracle database. So, if it is easier to somehow backup the two tablespaces and restore them than it is to backup the entire database and restore it - then that is great. I will do it that way.
    I am basically looking for the simplest approach for restoring this demo database wherever I want to quickly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jeffrey, here's what I use to do this, I have a production database that on occassion I need to make a copy of to perform some testing on, so I just use this to create an "auxiliary" database using the RMAN backups from the production database. I thought in 10g there was a database clone function, I'll have to look that up and get back to you, anyway, here's the instructions I use.
    Target Database = RMAN Target (Source database to be copied.)
    Auxiliary Database = RMAN Auxiliary (Duplicated database end result)
    1. Copy the target database’s init.ora file to the auxiliary database’s location.
    2. Modify disk locations for control files, archive logs and dump dests in init.ora if required
    3. Create locations for data files, dump dests, control files and log files
    4. Copy RMAN backup files and archive logs to same location on auxiliary DB server as they are on target DB server
    5. Create Oracle Service using ORADIM utility
    6. Start instance in nomount
    7. Create listener.ora entry on auxiliary server
    8. Create tnsnames.ora entry on target server
    9. Connect to rman catalog, target and auxiliary from the target server:
         RMAN> connect catalog rman/<password>@<catalog db>
         RMAN> connect target sys/<password>@<target db>
         RMAN> connect auxiliary sys/<password>@<auxiliary db>
    10. Run the following (modify the sequence count and datafile renames as required.)
    run{
    allocate auxiliary channel d1 type disk;
    set newname for datafile 1 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SYSTEM01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 2 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\RBS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 3 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\USERS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 4 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\TEMP01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 5 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\TOOLS01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 6 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\INDX01.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 7 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBDATA.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 8 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBIDX.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 9 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\SMDBTEMP.DBF';
    set newname for datafile 10 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\AUDITDATA.ORA';
    set newname for datafile 11 to 'e:\ORACLE\ORADATA\MTSD\AUDITAR.ORA';
    duplicate target database to mtsd
    logfile
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo01.log' size 10M,
    'e:\oracle\oradata\mtsd\redo02.log' size 10M,

  • I want to use Berkely database for my Dissertation

    Hello everyone,
    I am having some doubts regarding Berkely database. Actually, I am using this database for my project. The scenario of the project is, I have developed some business rules depending on the concept of Ripple Down Rules and represented the rules using Conceptual graphs. Now I want to store fire these business rules in to the Berkely database, so that my application can use these business rules from the Berkeley database.
    This is the context of my project. But, I am very new to this Berkely database. I have downloaded the Berkely database from the Oracle website and also installed it. The OS is am using is Windows XP SP2. Can anyone explain me how to store Conceptual graphs in a Berkely database.
    I am really a beginner to Berkely database. i don't even know what to do after installing the Berkely database. Please advise me about this.
    I would be very thankful to you.
    Cheers,
    Phani.

    Hi Phani,
    The simple answer is however you want. Berkeley DB doesn't put any constraints on how you store data in it. Its main purpose is to provide an efficient and scalable key/value storage and retrieval system, upon which you can build your own data storage system.
    More specifically, if you're representing graph data, the simplest way to do so is with the "edge list" paradigm. You could, for example, set up a pair of databases, one to store all your graph nodes (with associated metadata) and one for directed edges. I'm not sure what particular c structures you'll want to use for these, but I'd suggest using record numbers on both the nodes and the edges DBs, unless all your nodes have unique and meaningful names. I'd also allow duplicate records on your edges DB, and have a very simple record structure in it that simply maps from a source node id to a destination node it (the duplicates allow multiple edges from a given node.)
    If you have more specific constraints on your graph and algorithms you'd like to run on it, there are potentially more schemes you could use, such as the nested set representation for trees, and so on.
    Hope this helps,
    Daniel

  • How to create a database for sample code from Tutorial/Book?

    I want to try out the sample code from [http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920013471.do] for the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed.
    I have downloaded the oracle vm/appliance for oracle 11g2 and I have started sqlplus as sysdba.
    I'm feeling overwhelmed with these links describing how to create a database:
    [http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/admin/creatingdbmanually.html]
    [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-7-HOWTO-3.html]
    [http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/admin/creatingdbmanually.html]
    (1) What is the command to list the existing databases?
    (2) What is the command to delete an existing database?
    (3) When creating a new database with the create database command, is it necessary to specify the logfile, character set, national character set, datafile, sysaux datafile, undo tablespace, temp table space? Do these have reasonable defaults? I'm not sure what proper directories are to specify for Linux and the examples are for windows.
    Can someone give me a simplified create database command to create a database called 3rdEdPocketGuide? Should I follow the example at [http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-7-HOWTO-3.html] and instead of orcl use 3rdEdPocketGuide?
    (4) What command do I use to execute the script that comes with the book SQL Pocket Guide 3rd Ed? This is the script that has all the drop table, create table and insert commands in it.
    (5) What command do I use in sqlplus to set the current default database prior to running this script? Perhaps this is the connect command? I don't want my script to create tables in the system database.
    (6) I tried the command "connect 3rdEdPocketGuide" and it prompted for a password! Yikes! What password? Do I need to specify a password when I create a database? I cannot tell if I have successfully created such a database or it is just prompting me for a password to thwart malicious users. Is it is possible to create databases which don't require a password or maybe a zero length password?
    Thanks
    Siegfried

    Everyone:
    Do I need to create a user using SQL*Plus first so I can login with "Oracle SQL Developer" so I create my database called? What would be the "create user" command I would execute?
    OK, so I run sqlplus and issue these commands
    create user siegfried identified by abc ;
    grant connect to siegfried ;
    connect siegfried/abc;
    Now, how do I create a database? In Microsoft SQL Server one has to create a database first and if you just start creating tables without creating a database first, the tables will be created in the system database and this is usually undesirable.
    Sometimes a database is known in the java connection string as the catalog. Is there any such analog in oracle SQL plus?
    So now what do I do? I want to create a bunch of tables using my script I downloaded from 3rd Ed SQL Pocket Guide. Does my new user "siegfried" have the right to create tables? I guess I could try but I don't want to create tables in the system database.
    I noticed I can also use "Oracle SQL Developer" to connect with my new "siegfried" account. It seems that I should have been able to connect with sysdba... strange.
    So now I am connected in the "Oracle SQL Developer" and I see no list of databases.
    Thanks!

  • Help, need to change IP address on host database for Portal

    Hi folks,
    Rather urgent assistance (as usual) needed. I have an installation working correctly on a pair of Win2k machines, one as the 9i database, one as the 9iAS/Portal. The app server has 2 NIC cards, one with public IP address (which is ok), one on the LAN. I need to reconfigure the LAN addresses on both the machines. Initial Portal install done without DNS, i.e. actual server/host addresses entered in the configuration.
    I have tried changing all of the TNS/Listner settings and the NIC card IP addresses and restarting the machines. The likes of SQLPlus work ok, with the TNS connect name allowing over the LAN access into the database with the new LAN addresses. I cannot seem to get the 9iAS/Portal to find the repository with the new addresses.
    Can someone help please? I can't find the answer in any documentation or other postings.
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

    There are other modes of operation for the plasst as well. I am listing them below but the formatting will make it difficult to read. If you like I can email it to you.
    Bill G...
    Configuring Portal when the HTTP server host name of the Infrastructure is changed
    Run the following from the $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/opca dir
    ptlasst.bat -mode SSOPARTNERCONFIG -i typical -sdad portal -host myApache.domain.com -port 7777 -silent -verbose
    NOTE:
    (1) This command would create a new Portal partner application in the SSO to reflect the changes of the Infrastructure. Before running this command please ensure to configure the SSO with the correct hostname by running the ssocfg.bat script located in the Infrastructure install (<infra_home>\sso\bin).
    The value for -host parameter will be the IP address of the infrastructure server and -port will be the port where the infrastructure http server is running on.
    Configuring Portal when the HTTP server host name of the Middle tier is changed
    ptlasst.bat -mode MIDTIER -i typical -host myApache.domain.com -port 7777 -ldap_h myOID.domain.com -ldap_p 389 -ldap_w welcome -pwd secret123 -portal_only -oh /home/oracle -chost myHostname.domain.com -cport_i 8001 -cport_a 8000 -wc_i_pwd invalidator -mc false -mi true -silent -verbose
    NOTE :
    (1) The -host value should match the serverName value of the httpd.conf
    (2) The -chost should be updated with the correct webcache hostname. In a default iAS midtier install the -host is same as the -chost.
    The value for -host parameter will be the IP address of the midtier(portal) server and -port will be the port where the portal is running on.
    Parameter Description Default Value Mandatory
    -i install_type Installation Type
    In the typical mode, the OPCA would get the Infrastructure information like the Portal schema name, Portal schema password, connect string to the Portal repository, SSO Partner application schema and password, SSO Password store schema and password and connect string to the SSO repository from the Repository Access API's.
    In the custom mode, the OPCA would take whatever is passed as the command line arguments.

  • Help with structuring SQL databases for multiple photo galleries..help!?!

    Hello all,
    As a new PHP/SQL developer I have found great technical assistance from both this forum and from David Powers and his wonderful books. I am at a crucial point in my web development and although I believe I know which direction I need to go, I am still uncertain and so I appeal to you all for your help, especially David Powers.
    The website I am building is one which will house many photo galleries. I was able to successfully modify the code provided in David Powers’ book ‘php Solutions’ so that I got the photo galleries constructed and working in the manner I desired.
    That being said, a person browsing my website will be presented with a link to see the photo galleries. There will be five (5) categories in which the photos will be separated, all based on specific styles. Now that I have the galleries working, I need to know how to structure things so that I can create a page, like a TOC (table o’ contents) that shows all photo galleries by displaying a thumbnail image or two along with the description. Perhaps I’ll limit the TOC page to only show the latest 25 galleries, arranged with the most current always on top.
    The way I have my galleries set up, I have a separate database for each one, containing the photo filenames and other relevant data. To build my TOC structure, should I have an overall database that contains each gallery database filename along with category? This is where I have no idea what I’m doing so if my question sounds vague, please understand I have no other idea how to ask.
    The site will grow to the point of having hundreds, if not thousands of photo galleries. I simply want to know how to (organize them) or otherwise allow me to build a method to display them in a TOC page or pages.
    I know this is a bit dodgy, but with some info and questions back from you, I feel confident that I should be able to get my point across.
    Lastly, I am still developing this site locally, so I have no links to provide (though I feel that shouldn’t be necessary right now).
    Many sincere thanks to you all in advance,
    wordman

    bregent,
    I'm chewing this over in my head, reading up on DB's in 'phpSolutions' and I think that things are slowly materializing.
    Here is the structure of the website that I have planned:
    MAIN PAGE
    User is presented with a link on the main page to select photo galleries (other links are also present). Clicking the link takes them to the Category Page.
    CATEGORY PAGE
    On this page, the User will then have 5 choices based on categories (photo style). CLicking any of these 5 links will take them to respective TOC pages.
    TOC PAGE
    On this page, the user is greeted with a vertical list of galleries or photosets; one to three thumbs on the left, a small block of descriptive text on the right (ideally containing date/time info to show how recent the gallery is). Newest galleries appear at the top. Eventually, when there are tens or hundreds of galleries in any given catrgory, I'll need to adopt a method for breaking up the qualntity in groups (we can pick 20 for example) that can be scrolled through using a small navbar. This will keep the TOC Pages from getting endlessly long and avoid endless scrolling. User selects a gallery on this page to view.
    THUMBNAIL PAGE
    On choosing a gallery, a thumbnail page is generated (I have this working already)
    IMAGE PAGE
    On selecting any thumbnail in the grid, the user is taken to the full-sized photo with a navbar and photo counter at the top. Navlinks allow forward and back, a link to the first image, a link to the last image and one link back to the thumbnail page. (I have this working already).
    I provide this info in an effort to help understand the basic structure of my site. The description above is as close to a step-by-step illustration as possible.
    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    wordman

  • Listing logical database for a given application component

    hi

    Here you will get the link from Application Component to Package
    Application Class - Packet

  • Unable to configure database for a domain

    When I try to configure the database for example for the WLI domain starting Weblogic
    Integration database configuration wizard (Start -> Programs -> BEA Weblogic E-Business
    Platform -> Weblogic Integration 2.1 -> Configure), I'll get the following message:

    Thanking in advance

    I see. It seems there was a change in assumptions when Novell moved from
    Zenworks 4 to 6.5. Previously it seems there was the assumption that since
    desktop computers weren't that powerful it might overwhelm them to scan for
    both hardware and software. Therefore, these options were put next to each
    other so you could choose. In Zenworks 6.5 the assumption is that, since
    client computers have become more powerful, if you're scanning the client
    hardware you're going to want to scan the software as well. Therefore they
    took away the use of the software tab and made it less obvious on how to
    disable scanning.
    Everything seems to be working for me now on Zenworks Inventory. It's been
    inventorying for about 48 hours now and has updated most of my stale
    records. I want to thank Shaun for all the posts he replies to on the
    Zenworks newsgroups. I've seen his replies all over the place as I was
    searching through Google Groups trying to fix this and they helped me fix my
    problems.

  • AW database for a public library?

    Hello,
    i'm trying to set up an AW database for a small library in a nice
    little village in France. AW 6.2.8 and OS 9.2.2 on an iMac 350 Mhz.
    I already have the data entry for books and library users,
    now i need to develop a borrowing system for the users.
    I am working with a french version of AW and i do not know
    enough french to find out about the next step.
    It would be helpful if someone knows if AW has enough power
    to be used for this task. A change to FM Pro is not possible, unfortunately.
    Does anybody know about templates for small libraries?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thx in advance,
    Franz
    eMac 1,25, 768, 10.4.8

    Hi Franz,
    Much as I love it, I wouldn't suggest AppleWorks for this task. AW's database module produces flat file databases, and although these can be wrestled into submission wrt managing a library, they're not the best tool for the job.
    A second strike against AppleWorks is its openness—anyone using the database is allowed to edit it. That can lead to a lot of accidental changes to the data (as well as allowing deliberate changes).
    As mentioned in the previous post in this thread, this is a task better suited to a relational DB application. I'd go further, and say you should consider a pre-built solution designed for the purpose. You'll find short descriptions and links to the publishers of a number of these in the Made4Mac pages on apple.com. Search in One that caught my eye, partly because of the low price for the basic ("light") version was Athenaeum Light. Information and a downloadable 60 day demo available at:
    http://www.sumware.co.nz/athenaeum/light.php
    Another, and the only one on the list that I'm familiar with and would recommend, is Library 4 Universal (L4U), which is used in the school district in which I taught prior to retiring two years ago. I don't know the price, which like most library software prices, depends on the number of libraries, patrons or items in the collection. Information and a demo available on theri site:

  • One Database for All Peoplesoft Applications

    Hi,
    Does anyone know whether its possible/recommended to use the same database for the different peoplesoft pillars. For example if there are the following apps being deployed:
    1. Campus
    2. Portal
    3. HCM/Payroll
    4. FSCM
    As I understand it each pillar has its own database - it is possible to share the same database for all pillars - resulting in just one database?
    Or is there a combination of pillars that could possibly be used to share the same database?
    Thanks

    Thanks Nicolas - I was looking at this from the point of view of Oracle E Business Suite which uses just the one database for the entire suite of applications. The question raised here was more from an administrative perspective i.e managing multiple databases - dedicating hardware for each install of the application, or using virtualization to isolate each application. Since I don't have a background in peoplesoft, the way you've explained it appears to at least help in understanding why this is not a good idea on the peoplesoft front - which is what I was looking for.

  • Information about the default setup for the demo user

    Hi,
    Can anyone guide me the properties which we have to set for the below
    # Information about the default setup for the demo user.
    db.adminUser=system
    db.demoUser=FOD
    db.demoUser.password=fusion
    db.demoUser.tablespace=USERS
    db.demoUser.tempTablespace=TEMP
    And what exactly they represent
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
    It's pretty obvious...
    db.adminUser = the username of a dba user in your database
    db.demoUser = the username of the demo user that will get created
    db.demoUser.password = the password that will be used for the demo user
    db.demoUser.tablespace = the default tablespace for the demo user
    db.demoUser.tempTablespace = the default temporary tablespace for the demo user
    You don't have to change any of them.

  • "open project was cancelled or the application was unable to load database for..."

    I'm doing a project for my Professional Writing course and I
    have to use RoboHelp to create an online help document. The
    professor provided templates for us to use but when I go to open
    the project file I get the following error: "open project was
    cancelled or the application was unable to load database
    for....(then the directory)"
    I know the project file isn't corrupted because the members
    of my class are using the same one without issue. I tried
    re-downloading the file, I also re-installed the program itself,
    still with no luck. I'm using a Trial Version of RoboHelp 6.0 .
    The only other suggestions I have seen are that I don't have
    edit perms for the system, but it's my personal laptop and I have
    full admin privs. I thought at first that the folder was read-only,
    but when I opened it up all it displays is the little green box in
    the checkbox (which doesn't mean the folder is read-only, it's just
    some stupid windows default, it's only read-only if the box is
    actually checked). I tried making the entire directory read-only
    and then turn it off but still get the same error.
    Any suggestions?

    There's a topic on my site about Opening Projects that
    includes the method of deleting the CPD and XPJ files but I didn't
    cover that as the project is good for everyone else. Anything is
    worth a try at the moment though.
    Another thing to try is to rename the course folder, then
    create a new folder with the same name plus all sub folders. Then
    move the files across. That will ensure the folder properties are
    good and not read only. Yes I know what you said but again anything
    is worth a try.
    Also, in the last post you are saying the directory is not
    read-only. I assume the files are all good?
    Ref my previous post, is it the case that now you are getting
    an error before the original error would have popped up?
