Excel 2011 - Issues with Macros

Hi everyone,
I'm using Excel 2011 and trying to record a Macro and save it in my Personal Macro Workbook but I get the following error: "Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording"

CSV to Excel 2013 - Issue with number format

Hi,
I use Excel 2013 to manipulate CSV files. I experienced issue with number format cells. In my CSV file there is one column that presents latitude values in format: 52.05456464. When I open my CSV file in Excel 2013 all values in that column get separator
".", in this case my number is present like this: 52.054.454.464. I tried to change my cell format, and when opened the category was Number, I change it to the General but in that case I lost all "." and got 52054454464.
I also tried to open same file on other machine with Excel 2010 and file is opened correctly without issues and in cell format the category is general by default.
I hope that there is some kind of resolution for this.

According to your description, we may follow these steps:
highlight the column B > Home Tab > Number section > Select Number and choose "More Number Format" > Make sure the Negative number is chosen correctly. If you are using Custom format, we will have to change it.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 issues with Safari 7 in Mavericks

Is anybody having issues with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Safari 7 on Mavericks? For me, it constantly crashes and Safari shows me a message, telling me that there was a problem with the webpage, and has been reloaded. This is constant, and I can not work. Someone?

Excel 2011 issues after upgrading to Lion

After upgrading to Lion, I cannot open .xls files anymore in Excel for Mac 2011. The files on my own computer work, but files that I receive via email cannot be openend. Does somebody know how to solve this? Thanks. Raymond.

Did that work for you? I was looking at that too, but was discouraged by having to use a sparsebundle given Snow Leopard had such great NAS support.
FYI to everyone else, I upgraded my ReadyNAS firmware to 4.1.8. NetGear indicated the following updates with the nre firmware, but it didn't fix this problem:
     New features and enhancements
     1. Added support for Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion”.
     2. Added warning when NFS access to home shares is enabled.
     3. Added a redirect for http://<host>/ip to https.
     4. Added enhancements to advanced AFP permission settings.
     5. Provide download links for exported users and groups instead of asking for email.

     Bug fixes
     1. Fixed javascript error in FrontView.

Some people reported success with the terminal command:
     defaults write -app iMovie allowNV -bool true
But apparantly, after the Lion update, fewer people reported success with it. Still looking though... If anyone else has more symptoms to add, please let me know. I might try to use a sniffer program and see if I can pull a packet capture. That might reveal some info....
On another note, has anyone had any problems connecting to their Time Capsule in the same fashion? I had an idea of connecting a USB Raid Array to it and connecting through the TC, but wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts or experience with that.... Thanks.

Office 2011 issue with private SMB shares, ok with public SMB shares.

Issue:
When we connect to an SMB or AFP share, ie. (smb://frog/home/user/) which is a windows 2008 R2 file server, the connection is fine. We can open all files except Office files. These .../home/user/ shares are locked down in AD being that this is the users home, private, directory.
If we open a public share, with permissions in AD set to allow read/write to all authenticated users, we can open all files, including office files, with no problems.
NOTE:
If we use iWorks Pages, Numbers, or Keynote on our Microsoft files all .docx, pptx, xlsx, doc, xls, and ppt files open fine. This shows me that its not a permissions issue on the file server.

I have a similar problem, but this time with a shared printer on a windows 7 laptop. If I connect the laptop via a wired connection then other wired (windows 7) PC's can print to my usb connected and shared printer but if I connect via wireless then the printer remains offline to these other PC's.
So it looks like some form of isolation is going on but I can't see any configuration for it. Did you resolve your issue ?

How can i run an excel(PC) file with macros on numbers

You cannot. You shold purchase MSExcel for Mac (after you confirm that is also runs macros, there was a period of time where it didn't so I am not sure).
Numbers will not run macros and it the wrong tool for your case. It is possible to create similar behavior if you are willing to port the Excel macros to Applescript.

Issue with macro

I have a macro that updates a key figure . The macro checks certain conditions and if the result is true sets the value of the key figure to 1 and changes the key figure value to 0 if the conditions return a value of false.
I executed the macro in a job . But it did does not update the value of the key figure. When i look at the job spool the warning message says " Not all data in the live cache could be updated"
Cannot figure out why this is happening. Experts please suggest a solution

Hi Visu ,
It is not an auxillary key figure. We do have auxillary key figures in the same planning area , that we use just to provide more details to the SNP planners. This is an APO key figure. We back up the data to BW cubes on a daily basis.
I shall try doing the consistency check. But iam not sure if the problem is with the key figure. I encounter this problem only for around 13 products. For other products the macro is setting / resetting the value of key figure properly .

I have an Office 365 ProPlus subscription and have downloaded and installed a copy of Office for Mac 2011 on my Macbook. Does the Mac version of Excel have the same Power BI features as the Windows Excel 2013 version (i.e. Power Query, Power Map, PowerPivot,
and PowerView)? If so, how do I activate them? If not, are there alternatives?

Excel 2013 includes Power Pivot and Power View built into it.
There is an iPad app for Power BI that you can access. The Power BI preview should be accessible on a Mac.

MS Excel 2011 pivot tables and Lion

Hi,
I run quite a lot of spreadsheets with pivot tables in MS Excel 2011. With the most recent version of Snow Leopard and all the patches from Microsoft it seemed to be working quite well. The minute after the upgrade to Lion, when I tried to refresh a pivot table Excel crashed, and it is crashing on every single file that I have. I also created new files from scratch, ran a new pivot table, and the second time I open the file it would crash upon refresh.
Apart from being extremely annoying, there seems to be no way around it for the time being; I really hope that with the next release of Office 2011 they fix it. Anyone has similar experiences or ideas?

This is absolutely a problem after insalling Lion! Office 11 was a great improvement over office 08 to handle pivot tables and now pivot tables are basically useless on Office 11, running Lion. I confirm that munipulating pivot tables in Excel 11 causes excel to crash every time.

As far as I known, the macro/Active X control can be used well with both of the Office 2013 and Office 365.

attachment. Then, I tested it, I found the probably reason.
You were using ActiveX controls in the sample file, and them displayed 4 tabs in Format control dialog box. Next, you created a new Form control, it displayed 7 tabs.
You were using the two type of controls. ActiveX controls and Form controls
are different.
Form controls
Form controls are the original controls that are compatible with earlier versions of Excel, starting with Excel version 5.0. Form controls are also designed for use on XLM macro sheets.
ActiveX controls
ActiveX controls can be used on worksheet forms, with or without the use of VBA code, and on VBA UserForms. In general, use ActiveX controls when you need more flexible design requirements than those provided by Form controls. ActiveX controls have extensive
properties that you can use to customize their appearance, behavior, fonts, and other characteristics.

Can't open an Excel doc (w/ macros and VBA) in Excel 2011 for Mac. Anyone have any ideas (other than using a pc instead)?

The same error message will result from a problem in any add-ins ,thus you should investigate other installed add-ins. It is worth the effort to try to start your excel program in safe mode. About how to use safe mode in Mac OS, Please refer to :http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892428
If this issue is gone in this situation, try to disable add-ins in excel.

Performance issues with Imac intel 2011 27 inch..

I have an 2011 imac 3,4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM.
Since a few months i noticed performance issues with FCPX, where before it would run through video it shows sometimes the color ball. Now the computer is slow in starting up and shutting down also. Ran disk utility but to no avail. I am now considering reinstalling mavericks.
But I ran etrecheck.

Excel 2011 is not compatible with 10.9

While Excel 2011 will run on 10.9, it does not have full functionality. The Microsoft website confusingly states that Excel 2011 is compatible with 10.6 and later. However, according to their customer support that means 10.6 and "older". The biggest problem I'm running into is that I can no longer create macros. Has anyone found a fix to this?

You need to talk with a "different" customer support person. "10.6 and later" means "10.6 and newer" as in 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 & 10.9. I create/edit/run macros and VBA code in Excel 2011 every day with no problems.

I’m using excel 2011 for Mac and my OS is Yosemite. After a recent update from Microsoft I’ve stopped seeing what I am typing in the cell until I press enter. It appears in the formula bar but not in the cell. How can I change this so the characters show in the cells as I type them?
