Getting info out of an excel file like a database

Hi,
The problem i have is that i have to get info out of an excel file like a database. So i have to be able to perform a kind of query, but to an excel file. Is this possible?
lay-out excel file:
number | request | chemical composition
| | C | Mn | Si | ....

i should have to be able to search on the number and read the differend % (C, Mn, Si). This % are used in a formula to calculate a value that is used for DAQ
I can do this action with an acces DB, but not with excel. The problem is that they used excel for some years now (where i work) and changing the excel file to a DB would be a very long w
ork.

exception occured.
[Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] The microsoft jet database engine could not find the object 'Sheet1'. Make sure the object exists...
So he doesn't seem to recognize a datasheet as a table (if i may compare it like this) when i choose the microsoft Excel driver with the workbook as described in your answer.
Any ideas?

How to import measurment data from a Excel File to Citadel DataBase?

A Microsoft Excel File is being created in a PC and I want to include that flie´s data into my citadel Database wich is in another PC.

I give a example "Importing Spreadsheet Data to the Citadel Database" in the LabVIEW Version 6.1 and LV-DSC 6.1.
LabVIEW 7.0 with LV-DSC you must in the ini file "DSCEngine.ini"
set NoShutdownLog=1 and UseServerTimestamps=TRUE.

Custom TCode for Excel File Upload/Import - WebGUI Error

We get an ABAP runtime error when uploading an excel file with a custom tcode using WebGUI. It works ok with WinGUI. Any ideas what could be causing that error?

Connecting an excel file as a database source in crystal

Hi
I have crystal 2011 on my pc and I can easily access information in an excel file by connecting it as a data source.
However, when i copy the excel file onto the SAP server and try to connect to the excel file there, it connects ok
but there is only displays Add Command and i can access Final Budget Table.
I know it is probably a simple issue but i cant seem to see it.
The server is using crystal 2008 and does not have excel installed.
The excel file has been into the same folder the report exists in.
I will eventually want to run this report through Inforview, what way does that work with regards the excel file?

Hi Rachael,
Go to the Database Expert > Right-click the connection name > Select Options > Make sure there is nothing typed in under 'Table Name LIKE'.

How to preform the auto extraction of the Excel file in Import Manager

Hi Experts,
I was performing an automatic import using the Import Manager.
In the port, i defined the map name, file type and the automatic execution. But the import manager could not perform the mapping correctly after i putted the Excel file into the ready folder. And the error message in the exception log was "MS Excel is not supported on x64 platform." But when I imported the file in import manager manually, nothing wrong was happend duing this processing.
How could I perform a correctly mapping in the Import Manager.

This is a limitation . The MDIS on 64-bit Windows cannot import from Excel . However manual imports are supported (as this doesnt need MDIS).
XML is the best suited format for automating imports in MDM. Suggest you switch over to xml and setup auto import.

Manupulating Excel File Stored In Database

Is there any way I can manipulate the excel file that is stored in the database as LONG RAW ?
I need to allow user to manupulate the excel file that is stored in database and accordingly fetch the specific data from that manipulated Excel File of Database.

Your best bet is to keep the data in tables and generate a new excel file each time. Search this forum on how to generate excel files.. Here are three techniques... I like the XML method..
1) OLE2
2) XML
3) CSV
I have also done this using webutil..
1) retrieve excel blob from db to client using webutil function db_to_client_with_progress()
2) manipulate excel file on client using CLIENT_OLE2
3) put excel file back in db using webutil function client_to_db_with_progress()

Validating the first two columns of a excel file when importing?

Hi everyone,
I have an excel file in the presentation server which has to be uploaded into prog.First the user adds a additonal column in the excel file.
For example the excel file is intially in this way,
col1 col2 col3 col4 col5
Now the user adds one more column 'colx' in the excel sheet and he will upload it into the prog.Before uploading programatically we have to validate that the first two columns of the excel file should be col1 colx(the newly added one).How can I do it?

I have one more problem.Now in the excel file I may have only 5 columns in the future it may have more than that.So the internal table which will hold the uploaded values from excel file should be dynamic.I can't declare the internal table with 5 or 6 columns like that.If the user adds some columns in the excel file and upload it,the internal table should hold these columns also.

My Excel files were imported as read only files how can I change these

I am a new Mac user. When my excel files were copied over from my MS PC they have come over as read only files. How can i change these to "normal" files as they were on my PC? Thanks

When I click the lock in the bottom right corner it prompts me for my password but after unlocking it it doesn't allow me to change privelages or give me any new permissions.

i think the solution as below : -
1) partner send e-mail to mailbox with attahcment.
2) software can get a mail then extract attachment & allocation to somewhere folder in db server
3) execute command for import data from file to database.
