Unable to access EJB in J2EE 1.4 RI

Hello,
I am trying to connect to an EJB (in J2EE 1.4 RI) from a client using following code:
Context init = new InitialContext();
Object ref = init.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/EJBName");
It appear that client is not connecting to the naming (JNDI) server. It gives an exception saying
"Specify class name in environment or system property.......".
Any suggestions
1. For configuring JNDI properties for J2EE 1.4 RI to perform the lookup for an EJB
2. What jar files should be included in the classpath?
Thanks in advance

  • Shutdown class; unable to access EJBs/JDBC

    I have a fundamental question here, and for which I have not found any documentation
    on BEA's own documentation center.
    Can I, or can I not invoke operations on EJBs/JDBC/JNDI etc from my implementation
    of weblogic.common.T3ShutdownDef??
    Startup classes can in general access all resources, and they can also invoke
    services on EJBs if LoadBeforeAppDeployments is false (the default) in config.xml.
    However, the same does not seem to be true for shutdown classes. I am unable to
    access services from a shutdown class.
    As soon as I invoke weblogic.Admin with SHUTDOWN as the command, the server transitions
    to STANDBY state and then the shutdown class is invoked.
    The session bean is found and available, but when a transaction is sought to be
    created to execute a finder on an EntityBean within the SessionBean, I get an
    exception that transactions cannot be created in the Standby state of the server.
    To get around this, I thought I will get a reference to the DataSource from JNDI
    and execute a query on the JDBC connection, and that failed as well, saying that
    JDBC connections are also not available.
    Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a bug.
    I am developing on WLS 7.0.
    Thanks!
    Vivek.

    quote:
    Please help me understand why. I have the easeToLoc setup to
    received input variables:
    The syntax of ActionScript dictates that you refer to the
    callback function in the way that I pointed out. The only argument
    that is passed to that listener function is an event object. This
    is what it expects, nothing more. Take a look at the
    docs
    for more info, specifically the categories under Programming
    ActionScript 3.0 -> Handling Events.
    Looking at navPanelClose() and navPanelOpen(), the values
    you're trying to pass seem more like constants to me, not
    variables. So why not declare them as constants within this class
    and refer to them as such within easeToLoc()? If you truly want to
    use variables, perhaps creating a separate utility class to handle
    this logic will work better.
    When trying to access a method within one class from another
    ...let's say you want to access myMethod() within class MyAClass
    from class MyBClass. You could:
    1. Declare myMethod() as static and then refer to it from
    anywhere after importing MyAClass. So you can call
    MyAClass.myMethod() without having to instantiate MyAClass. This is
    what you're trying to do here, I think.
    2. Have class MyBClass extend MyAClass where myMethod() is
    public or protected and MyBClass is in the same package as MyAClass
    when it's declared as protected. For this to work you'd have to
    instantiate MyBClass.

    Ravi --
    The most portable and standards oriented solution is to define an ejb-ref in the web.xml for the servlet, and then look up the name using the formal EJB UNC model.
    web.xml:
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/AppSessionFacadeHome</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>faqapp.ejb.AppSessionFacadeHome</home>
    <remote>faqapp.ejb.AppSessionFacade</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    servlet lookup
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    Object homeObject = ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/AppSessionFacadeHome");
    EJBHome ejbHome = (EJBHome)
    portableRemoteObject.narrow (homeObject, AppSessionFacadeHome.class);

  • Unable to access EJB with servlet as client

    Hi,
    I am Naga, a java developer trying to work with Weblogic6.1 at present.
    When i try to use Servlet as a client to my EJB, I am getting an error
    saying that Home class not found.
    i have kept the Servlet class file under
    E:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\classe
    s
    folder.
    i mentioned the EJB-ref tags in web.xml too, But it is not working.
    How to make the EJB home and remote interfaces visible to Servlet with
    weblogic6.1 ?
    If i put the EJB.jar file under
    E:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\lib
    directory the application is working. Is this is the only way to do ?
    After reading the article "EJB 2 and J2EE Packaging, Part II" at http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/07/25/ejb.html,
    i came to know that their is another way to do this, but i could not get it properly.
    If any one could explain about the series of steps involved, that would be
    really great and appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Naga.

    Hi Naga,
    If webApp and EJB are deployed as separate components,then you need to have EJB
    classes in WEB-INF/classes of your webApp.
    If the app is in EAR format then the servlet can see the EJb classes directly.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • Unable to access remote EJB object on different server

    I have deployed an EJB module on one server. I have been able to access the entity beans on this server from a standalone java client (on a different machine) using the CORBA Interopable Naming Syntax. Using this syntax
    corbaname:iiop:<hostname>:port#<jndi-name>
    However, when I deploy another EJB module on a separate server I am unable to access the objects held on the original server. I am using the same syntax as the java client.
    We are using Sun Application Server to deploy the modules. The error held in the server log is below. Can someone help with this. Does the Sun Application Server prevent connection to remote objects by default?

  • Unable to access following endpoint(s) : url...New upgrade to 11g issue.

    [C:\Users\DELL\Desktop\error_description.txt]
    Dear All,
    Similar kind of issue is already there in another thread. but that solution is not suitable for this issue.
    We are migrating our BPEL processes from 10g to 11g.
    We are facing two critical issues as follows. Request you if anybody has idea on this issue, please let me know the solution.
    BPEL process invoke a remote webservice which required authentication with below properties.
    wsseOASIS2004Compliant
    wsseHeaders
    wsseUsername
    wssePassword
    In 10g code these details were given under partner Link Properties. It has been working fine.
    The remote webservice is in third party system(external) and there is no migration happen to this webservice.
    We installed remote server’s (external) certificates in our 11g weblogic server (soa_server).
    Now we are facing two issues.
    issue #1:
    Invoking remote webservice in BPEL process is giving following error.
    *"Unable to access following endpoint(s) : https://192.72......../webservice1/webservice1Proxy"*
    As per the previous issue whic is similar to this error, is due to certificate instalation and adding into trusted list was resolved the issue.
    But for this issue our admin team is verystongly saying certifactes instalation is perfect also reinstalled when we asked them.
    Also we are able to telnet the ipaddress/ hostname of the extenal server (webservice) from the soa_server unix box.
    Also above endpoint URL(external) we able access with ?wsdl from our soa_server unix box.
    Request you folks, please let me know your valuable thoughts on this issue. we are really struckup and reached the delivery date.
    Issue #2
    The authentication details are given as follows…
    Right click on the external reference service and select “Configure WS policies”
    * Under the security tab, click add button and select “oracle/wss_username_token_client_policy”
    * Now Open the property Inspector window and click the add button under “Binding properties” tab.
    * Include the “oracle.webservices.auth.username” and “oracle.webservices.auth.password properties.
    But these details are ineffective in runtime.
    Request you, please let me know your valuable thoughts on these 2 issues.
    Please let me know whether it is cerificte issue or any other issue.
    If it is certificate issue how to strongly inform to our admin team so that they will make the required changes?
    Please find the error log in the attachment.
    Thanks,
    Deol

  • Unable to access the following endpoint(s): (External Webservice)

    Hi all,
    I m trying to connect to a web service using WSDL, which is given by osm, using Oracle SOA.
    i have created the keystore in emconsole and created the user in adminconsole and applied the wss_http_token_client_policy to that webservice. When I try to connect to web service from Oracle SOA, I am getting the below exception:
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <env:Header/>
    <env:Body>
    <env:Fault>
    <faultcode>env:Server</faultcode>
    <faultstring>oracle.fabric.common.FabricInvocationException: Unable to access the following endpoint(s): http://hostname/osm/wsapi</faultstring>
    <faultactor/>
    <detail>
    <exception>Unable to access the following endpoint(s): http://hostname/osm/wsapi</exception>
    </detail>
    </env:Fault>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    Can anybody help me in solving above issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ajay

    Hi,
    Your problem is SSL implementation. Your JRE's keystore does not contain the certificate presented by the link (https://test.com/services/productSearch) as trusted certificate and hence this problem is coming. Below error shows the root cause -
    Caused by: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested targetPlease refer below threads and add required certificate (server certificate of test.com) under trusted certificate in keystore, and it will start working -

  • Can't access EJB deployed on remote OC4J - what am I doing wrong?

    I'm unable to access an EJB deployed on a remote OC4J instance (ie, part of a 9iAS installation on another machine vs local in JDeveloper).
    I've reverted to a stupid-simple EJB in hopes of getting it going prior to trying my actual code. The EJB works fine in JDev (9.0.3) - I 'run' the EJB to start the local OC4J instance, run my client code (generated via the "New Sample Java Client..." option in the Navigator context popup) and all is well.
    I then create an EAR file via the the "Create EJB Jar Deployment Profile..." context popup of the ejb-jar.xml node, followed by "Deploy to EAR file" from the context popup of the resulting ejb1.deploy node. I next "Deploy EAR File" via the "Oracle Enterprise Manager" that comes with 9iAS (the :1810 port). After successfully deploying, I modify my client code in JDeveloper, specifying the new connection information for the remote machine via the Hashtable constructor of InitialContext and attempt to run it. I've tried a number of Context.PROVIDER_URL forms, including: ormi://registered_pingable_host_name:23791/deployed_application_name
    ormi://registered_pingable_host_name:23791/session_deployment_name (from the <enterprise-beans><session-deployment name="xxx"/></enterprise-beans> section of my orion-ejb-jar.xml file, as per a tip in this forum)
    I've tried prefixing ormi:// with http:, but get no response whatesoever in this case.
    I've also tried it without the port number (this port number matches that in my remote OC4J's <oc4j_instance_home>/config/rmi.xml file).
    On the Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL and Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS settings, I've tried various values, generally using the 'admin' user, with passwords taken from:
    <oc4j_instance_home>/principals.xml
    <oc4j_instance_home>/application-deployments/application_name/principals.xml
    I've also tried matching the password in the jazn-data.xml, to no avail - this password appears encrypted anyway, but thought I'd give it a try on the off-chance that it was just a randomly-generated password - no go.
    I've also tried SCOTT/TIGER, anonymous, etc. Incidentally, the 'deactivated' attribute of the <user> tag is set to "false" in my principals.xml files.
    No matter what I do, I always get back "javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect"
    Additionally, I get this same message when I try to establish an Application Server Connection via JDev.
    Clearly, I'm missing something critical (and probably simple), but I can't for the life of me figure it out.
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jim Stoll

    Ok, well this is a bit strange...
    3103 - 3103 also fails, and some experimentation has led me to find that any time that I specify a range smaller than 6 (3101 - 3106 works, 3101 - 3105, 3101-3101, 3103-3103, etc does not), the OC4J instance will not restart. I get "An error occurred while starting. The opmn request has failed. From opmn: HTTP/1.1 204 No Content Content-Length: 0 Content-Type: text/html Response: 0 of 1 processes started. Check opmn log files such as ipm.log and ons.log for detailed." in the OEM window (I specify the RMI port range, hit Apply, go to the OC4J instance home page, see that the Status is 'Down', hit Start, and get that message.) <ORACLE_HOME>/product/iasinfra/opmn/logs/ipm.log tells me:
    02/12/03 09:41:12 There is no rmi port left for starting an OC4J process. Please check oc4j's port property in OPMN's configuration file.
    02/12/03 09:41:12 start_proc: UID 3719788: failed to build args
    02/12/03 09:41:12 start_proc_req: failed to start a process in GID OC4JJim2, type: 2
    If I bump it up to 3101 - 3106 or higher, it starts right up. Running opmnadmin debug, as suggested by Venky (thanks Venky!), yields:
    PROCESS TABLE
    UID PID FLAGS TYPE STATUS REF HTTP AJP RMI JMS
    3654011 84 00000040 OC4J Alive 1 0 3005 3106 3206
    424987 604 00000000 Apache Alive 1 7777 0 0 0
    2932088 14849 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3003 3103 3203
    3063160 14878 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3001 3101 3201
    3194232 14906 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3000 3105 3205
    3325304 14936 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3002 3102 3202
    3456376 14964 00000000 OC4J Alive 1 0 3004 3104 3204
    Which is what I would expect, given the specified range of 3101-3106. Trying each of these ports in turn, I've found that I can hit the EJB successfully on 3106, but 3101 - 3105 all fail with:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: Project7_2; nested exception is:
         javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: Project7_2
         java.lang.Object com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
              RMIContext.java:134
         java.lang.Object javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
              InitialContext.java:350
         void Samplemypackage9.MySessionEJBClient1.main(java.lang.String[])
              MySessionEJBClient1.java:15
    I'm a little concerned about assuming the high-end of the range to be the active port on a regular basis (though thus far, among about 20 - 30 tries spaced over 20 - 30 minutes, it has been...) - I guess I can have my code loop through the range until it finds a good port or exhausts the list, but that seems a bit excessive.
    Can you think of a reason that my OC4J instance won't start with a range size of less than 6? I'm on 9iAS 9.0.2, if that makes any difference.
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • ClassNotFound Exception accessing EJBs in a cluster

    I am experiencing some weird behavior when attempting to access EJBs in a
              Weblogic 5.1.0 cluster. The cluster nodes startup fine, and the EJBs are
              correctly deployed. However, when my test client attempts to access them I
              get the ClassNotFoundException listed below. This same client can access the
              same EJBs deployed in a non-clustered environment without any problems, so
              it's definitely related to my cluster configuration. The problem seems to be
              that the client is not receiving the client-side stub. To confim this, I put
              the stub in the client's classpath, and did NOT get the
              ClassNotFoundException. Has anyone else seen this error?
              BTW, I have compiled the EJB both with and without the <home-is-clusterable>
              flag set to true. I get the same exception either way.
              Thanks for any assistance,

    Just a side note: I setup the cluster using the WebLogic recommended

  • Issue in accessing EJB from plain java

    Hi,
    I am new to OAS. I am using OAS 10.1.2.
    I want to access EJB which runs inside OAS, through a plain java program which runs from outside the OAS environment (standalone java program).
    I am confused on what to use. RMIInitialContextFactory or ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory for the context in the java program.
    what should be the provide URL ?
    java.naming.provider.url","ormi://hostname:18140/
    is it "ormi" or something else? what is the port number should i use. there are many ports in this OAS. i see that in the console("Ports") link.
    also let me know what should i mention in the EJB xml descriptor.
    Is this lookup to be done by retrieving from jndi?
    pls help.
    Thanks,
    Sukumar
    with this confusion i developed an EJB with the following details
    ejb-jar.xml
    <ejb-ref>
         <ejb-ref-name>ejb/testDetails</ejb-ref-name>
         <ejb-ref-type>Entity</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.xxx.xxx.testDetailsHome</home>
    <remote>com.xxx.xxx.testDetails</remote>
         </ejb-ref>
    orion-ejb-jar.xml
    <entity-deployment name="ejb/testDetails" location="ejb/testDetails"
    Client Java program
    public class testDetailsClient
    public static void main(String [] args)
    testDetailsClient testDetailsClient = new testDetailsClient();
    try
    Context context =getInitialContext();
    testDetailsHome testDetailsHome = (testDetailsHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(context.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/testDetails"), testDetailsHome.class);
    testDetails testDetails;
    catch(Throwable ex)
    ex.printStackTrace();
    private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    //env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url","ormi://host_name:18140/"); //23791 18140
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "ias_admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "abc123");
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext(env);
    return context;
    if i execute this, it says
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/ejb/testDetails not found
    18140 is Application Server Control RMI port.
    if i run the same code with ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory, it throws exception saying

    pls help

    Hi,
    you do not have to package your EJB and PAR together! You can deploy them separately and then reference the J2EE Application from your PAR or vice versa to access it.
    For instance you can access the EJB from your PAR as described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/9ddf20bb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    Or you can access a Portal application from J2EE like described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/9ddd0cbb211d72e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    Even if you package your PAR in to the same EAR with your EJB they will result in two different containers on the J2EE Engine and you will have to reference them as described in the link above to access the functionality of one component from the other.
    Best regards,
    Stefan Brauneis

  • Unable to access iTunes U as an administrator

    Built out an iTunes U site for my college, but I'm now unable to access the site as an administrator. When I use the log-in process Middlebury set up, with my correct Middlebury user name and password, I go to the iTunes U site, but do not have access to the admin screens that I have used in the past. Other administrators at the college have no such problem. No one here at the college can solve this problem. Any thoughts from Apple or other users?
    I do seem to have two sets of log-in info for iTunes, one associated with a Middlebury College e-mail address, one with a Gmail account. Could this be the problem? If so, is there a way to purge one account?

    Hi Ashish,
    If the portal installation is on a dual stack installation(server with ABAP and JAVA Stack on the same server), then the default j2ee admin user is j2ee_admin.If it is on pure java stack installation, the j2ee admin user is administrator.For the dual stack installations, SAP* user would be there for ABAP administration.
    If you are going to configure the Portal for UME as ABAP datasource, then make it sure that the same admin and guest users are not there both on the portal server and ABAP server.If the same users ids are on both servers, then you will not be able to login on to the portal server using that particular user ID. Unique user ids should be maintained if you are planning for UME as ABAP Datasource.
    Just refer this note for getting details on supporting datasource changes. note number - 718383. In this note, it is clearly mentioned that, if you have already changed the datasource to ABAP, then we will not be able to revert it back to original state.So be aware before doing the datasource change.
    Just refer this forum for further clarifications on UME as ABAP datasource and regarding SSO especially with this configuration. I have mentioned i clearly in this thread.

    Hi Harshit,
    You mention "Unable to access the http://localhost:50100/irj and http://localhost:50100/nwa only http://localhost:50100 is working."
    But did you tried  http://<HOST Name- FULL FQDN>:50100 ?
    Check whether this is working alright if not then it is related to either firewall or some network config issue (e.g. DNS or IP resolution issue).

  • 'Unable to access application'-Error in ACC-installation

    Dear Gurus,
    I started an adaptive computing controller 1.0 SP8 installation. In phase 5 - Start J2EE Engine for Online deployment- it ran into an error:
    Unable to access application $(DIR_EXE_ROOT)/run/startsap. No such file or directory.
    I used the AL11- transaction to check the variable, but it seemed to be alright. (I also suppose it was used properly before during the installation). The run- directory with the startsap in it is also at the right place, so I cannot realize the problem.
    Any ideas or possible solutions are heartly welcome!
    Greets,
    Maike

    Hi Maike,
    what OS are you installing on? This looks like the environment variable is not correctly set ...
    Just for your information. The Adaptive Computing Controller 7.1 is planned to go into GA end of July.
    Kind regards
    Gunther
