Excel interop. error with Visual Studio 2012

I am using a stand alone and not a server loaded with VS and office 10, I have done all the interop and importing name space and from my experience that should not be a problem.
Just help, how is this finally resolved, have you done an article on it?
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-000-000-C00000000046}
failed due to the following error:
80004023 A Microsoft software installer error was encountered.(exception from HRESULT:0x80004023)
Please help

Hi,
>>The reason this is the right forum is that we are talking about preserving COM and hooking up these libraries
into the managed environment using Interoperation.
I will clarify the topic of this forum. This forum is discussion questions about visual studio extension such as the VSPackage, Add-in and so on. And according to your second reply
"By the way am getting this error while sending data from VS 2012 to Excel"
and your original post, that forum is the correct one. General Office Development forum is for office
developer or related with office development. Your problem is related with excel, in other word, Microsoft office.
And the
General
Office Development forum is for general Office Developer discussions and questions that are either non-application specific
and/or are not specific to one of the product specific forums in this category.
I have consulted the engineer there to ensure it is a case there.
Please feel free to let me know if I misunderstand you.
Thank you for your understanding!
Best regards,
Sunny

  • Move a Excel 2010 Dokument Addin Project (Visual Studio 2012) to another devleopment machine with Visual Studio 2012 , but Office 2013

    Hi
    we do have the following situation
    on computer A there is a Excel Document Addin development project , Visual Studio 2012, Office 2010 installed. All works fine.
    we would like to bring the project to another machine with Visual Studio 2012, but Office 2013 installed.
    Visual Studio can not build the project. It says that the application is not installed on the machine (though Excel 2013 is installed , but not Excel 2010) It seems to have a problem with the
    vbproj.
    In other forums I found a hint that "Hostpackage = ..} needs to be set accordingly in the vbproj. I created then a "empty Excel-Addin project" under Visual Studio , looked at
    the Hostpackage entry, put that into the vbproj of "problem project. It still does not work.
    It would be great if anyone could help.
    Thomas

    Hello Eugene
    Problem is that it says that projectboard (the name of the main project) can not be loaded. All other projects in the solution can be loaded. Strange thing is , now that I try to create a empty excel Project it says that according to Excel security settings
    it can not be generated !?
    I opened then Excel and set all Trust Center settings to "Default" - but no effect. I really have no idea what is wrong ..!?

  • Add-in for Access 2010/2013 with Visual Studio 2012 (2013 Preview)

    Hello!
    Am i right: Microsoft wants to kill Access in favor of Azure/SQL stuff?
    I was unable to find any Projects in Visual Studio 2012/2013 to create an Addon for Access 2010 or 2013 (only Word, Excel, Outlook).
    There is even no Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access.ApplicationFactory
    to install add-in to Access App.
    Any solutions for VS 2012?
    Or i should use outdated Shared Add-in with VS 2010?
    Thank you!

    Sorry Donald M from Microsoft,
    You need to rethink that response.  IDTExtensibility2 is an outdated Office 2003 technology.
    Everything EXCEPT the ThisAddIn.designer.cs reference to ApplicationFactory _factory compiles when you switch references in another Office application's VSTO project template to msaccess and dao libraries.  Even the Access icon shows up in Visual
    Studio 2013.  The only reason a Ribbon.xml project will not load into Access is that Microsoft hasn't provided the Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access DLL for it.  If you leave the Factory reference pointing to global::Microsoft.Office.Tools.Factory,
    the add-in compiles but will not load.
    MICROSOFT: Please provide us the missing Factories for MSAccess and OneNote.

  • SQL Server Database Connectivity with Visual Studio 2012 - Help Needed

    Hello,
    I am having Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Developer 4.0 installed on my system with Windows 8 - 64bit
    I want to shift a VS project with an SQL database connectivity to another new Laptop (above mentioned) ...
    I have the project opened in VS without bieng connected to the database..
    I have a backup file of the database (which needs to be restored to a new created database on SQL Developer)
    The problem:
    I am unable to create a server connection in SQL Developer which will allow me to create a new database followed by the recovery from backup file.
    I am getting the following error message when I try to create a connection:
    Status: Faliure - IO error: The network adapter could not establish a connection
    Please help me in setting up a server connection and adding a new sql database

    The error message seemed unfamiliar to me and since I had never heard of SQL Developer before, I went to Google. Google might be pulling my legs, but it appears that SQL Developer is related to Oracle. This forum is devoted to SQL Server, so you are in the
    wrong place.
    Try finding a forum for SQL Developer.

  • Getting Dynamic Context Sensitive Help API to work with Visual Studio 2012 and 64 bit?

    We have RH 9.
    Our developers are working on implementing RH's dynamic CSH API inside of our software product:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WSa7dd8288c271d662-26f4398e12b0c229082-8000. html
    The instructions our developer found say:
    Call your Help projects with the function RH_ShowHelp. The source code for this function is contained in the support files which you import into your development project. Languages supported are Visual Basic, C/C++, JavaScript, and Java. The files are in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp [version]\CSH API. The files are:
        CSH API\RoboHelp_CSH.cpp (C/C++, dependent on the .h)
        CSH API\RoboHelp_CSH.h (C/C++, dependent on the .cpp)
    I zipped up the CSH API from my RH 9 version and sent it to the developer. We're using Visual Studio 2012.
    But now the dev is asking, "Is there a newer version? This one doesn't compile in win32 without me making some tweaks, and doesn't work at all in x64..." and "Is RoboHelp10 an option? 9 doesn't seem VS2012 compatible or x64 compatible."
    Does anyone know if there are there is a later version of the API available that works for 64-bit / VS 2012?

    Hi,
    The RoboHelp 10 API should work for WebHelp created with RoboHelp 9. Since the RH10 API will now support Multiscreen HTML5 (introduced with RoboHelp 10), I imagine it will work with VS 2012. But I’ve not tried that. You can try the RH10 API, but Adobe won’t support it
    Alternatively: A colleague of mine created a custom C# API some time ago. That might work for you: http://www.wvanweelden.eu/blog/2012/08/03/custom-webhelp-apis

  • How to test a generated report in my application by using web test written with Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate

    Hello,
    My application generates report in different formats, such as: Adobe, Excel, XML, CSV and HTML
    I have a webtest that makes all preparations, then generates a report.
    In my application I have an option either to save the new generated report or open it.
    When I try to open the new report, the web test doesn't see it and therefore not allows me to test it.
    Please refer me to knowledge base or let me know how to resolve this type of issues.
    Thanks.
    qatm

    Hi qatm,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    Since this web performance test is used to verify the Http request/respond work correctly in VS, and the browser session is then displayed as a list of URLs in the Web Performance Test Editor.
    However, as you said that you want to test a generated report in my application by using web performance test in VS2012 Ultimate. If the report is not as the Http format, so I think that it is not possible to test a generated report by using web performance
    test.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • SQL Reporting Services with Visual Studio 2012

    Hi
    I would like to know if there will be any release to improve on the placeholder feature in SQL reporting services. Currently, I have users who uses HTML editor to input data and tables. However, the table in html format cannot be read.
    I do understand that currently the placeholder feature can only have limited html tag recognised. However, is there any plan to improve it so that <table> tag can also be recognise?
    Or if there is any workaround to show the table format in the reports?
    Sorry but this is urgent as it is used for business application.
    Many thanks

    Hi DotNeTEngineeR,
    According to description, you want to display the content of table tag (<tag>) in a report. Right?
    In Reporting Services, it only has the supported HTML Tags below:
    Hyperlinks: <A HREF>
    Fonts: <FONT>
    Header, style and block elements: <H{n}>, <DIV>, <SPAN>,<P>, <DIV>, <LI>, <HN>
    Text format: <B>, <I>, <U>, <S>
    List handling: <OL>, <UL>, <LI>
    For your requirement, we suggest you use <div> to replace <table> tags in your embedded HTML. Please see the article below:
    Embedded HTML using <div> to replace <table> tags in ssrs 2008

    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Please let me know If have you any solution?

    Hi
    I had same issue. Below is the solution
    Installing
    "Visual Studio 2012 Update 3" usually solves this problem. (You can download it through microsoft's official site at

  • Visual Studio 2012 MFC C++ Win32 Compiled Application wouldn't run on Windows XP... FIXED!

    Converted a large Visual Studio 2005 MFC C++ Win32 Application to Visual Studio 2012.
    The compiled Win32 Application worked fine in Windows 7 and Windows 8 but not Windows XP.
    Found these 2 links which were very helpful on fixing the issue.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2012/10/16/setup-exe-is-not-a-valid-win32-application.aspx
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13051605/winforms-not-a-valid-win32-application
    So now my application compiles and works properly in Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
    Just thought this might be helpful to someone else that may end up with the same issue.

    DirectShow Filter Graph Spy: http://alax.info/blog/777 Extremely helpful for finding deep details for DirectShow Graphs.

    VF,
    Sounds like a plan.
    We are experimenting with Visual Studio 2012 on the Metro Style for our applications. So far, Windows 8 and Metro Style are extremely frustrating to me.
    Have VS2003 and VS2005 which is where most of our executable program code has been generated.
    We also have VS2008, VS2010, and VS2012.
    The ultimate goal was / is to convert a very large MFC C++ Program from VS2005 into VS2012 Metro Application... and VS2012 is fighting me every step of the way... Mostly linker errors at the moment... and that is just trying to do the DirectX Initialization
    for a Video Window without building the Video Graph.
    Oh well... The fight continues!

  • Can we develop a solution in Visual Studio 2012 and still deploy it on BizTalk 2010?

    Can we develop a solution in Visual Studio 2012 and still deploy it on BizTalk 2010? or Is it that solutions developed in VS 2012 have to be deployed only to BizTalk 2013?
    Thanks

    BizTalk 2010 projects are not compatible with Visual Studio 2012. To use Visual Studio 2012 with BizTalk 2010 projects, you must install
    BizTalk 2013 on the computer that has Visual Studio 2012. The first time you open a BizTalk 2010 project, it is automatically upgraded to the BizTalk 2013/Visual Studio 2012 project system

  • Visual Studio 2012 is no longer able to interact with any TFS server

    I can connect to the on-premise TFS2012 server using the instance of VS2012 installed on the server machine as well as the instance of VS2012 installed on a coworker's machine.
    I was able to interact with TFS2012 using the instance of VS2012 installed on my Win7 x64 machine, but only one time. Many reboots later, both of the server itself and my machine, I haven't been able to get VS2012 to interact properly with TFS.
    When I click on "Team" and select "Connect to Team Foundation Server", the "Team Explorer" VS window opens. In that window, no matter what button or link I click on, Visual
    Studio won't connect to TFS or allow me to choose a TFS server.
    1. Clicking on the Home icon takes me to page with two buttons: Pending Changes & settings.
    Clicking on "Pending Changes" takes me to a page where I can do 3 things: click on "no workspace" (nothing happens), click on Actions -> Open Source Control Explorer (which opens an
    empty Source Control Explorer Window, from which I can do nothing), click on "Settings", which shows me a page with 4 options:
    Security: clicking it results in the message "Team Foundation Error. Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
    Group Membership: clicking it results in the message "Team Foundation Error. Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
    Source Control: clicking it results in the message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: serverName"
    Process Template Manager: clicking it results in the message "Value cannot be null: Parameter name: tpc"
    2. Clicking on the "Connect to Team Projects" icon takes me to a page where I can click on either:
    "Configure Team Projects": clicking it does nothing
    "Connect": clicking it does nothing
    "Sign Up": opens a Visual Studio Online page on my web browser
    If I instead go to File -> Source Control -> Advanced, there is only one option which appears to be working:
    Change Source Control. When I click on it I get a window with a table with rows that correspond to the current solution and the projects in the current solution. ie:
    Solution/Project: {item name}
    Server Name: "<No Server>"
    Server Binding: "<No Server>"
    Connected: {gray uncheckable checkbox}
    Status: "Not Controlled"
    Local Binding:
    Provider:
    Relative path:
    The buttons "Connect", "Disconnect", "Browse" are disabled. Clicking on the "Bind" button results in a window with the message "The mappings
    for the solution could not be found" and two buttons: Ok and
    Help. Clicking on Help results in a white window with the message:
    "The 'EurekaPackage' package did not load correctly. The problem may have been caused by a configuration change or by the installation of another extension. You can get more information by examining the file 'C:\User\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\ActivityLog.xml'.
    Continue to show this error message?"
    Clicking "yes" open the following page on my web browser, which essentially tells me to go back to the "Change Source Control" window and unbind the project, which VS is not letting me do:

    What, if anything, can I do in order to be able to get Visual Studio 2012 to interact with TFS?

    I'll add that when I run devenv.exe with the flag /TFSLink, VS opens a Team Explorer window that contains the following text:
    An exception was encountered while constructing the content of this frame. This information is also logged in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\ActivityLog.xml".Exception details:System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop.IVsShell5.LoadPackageWithContext(Guid& packageGuid, Int32 reason, Guid& context)   at Microsoft.VisualStudio.Platform.WindowManagement.WindowFrame.GetPackage()   at Microsoft.VisualStudio.Platform.WindowManagement.WindowFrame.ConstructContent()

  • Error on Form Designer on Visual Studio 2012

    Dear Sir,
    I have used Visual Studio 2012 to develop my project for a long time.
    However, suddenly Designer of all Forms come an error but the system can compile the project.
    Therefore, I am not able to change the design of the Form in Visual Studio.
    Any Suggestion?
    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,
    Felix

    Hello Felix,
    The info seems tell us your project is corrupt. May I ask this question, will this error reproduce when you create a new simple project? This can be divided into two scenarios:
    Scenario 1: The new project is also corrupt.
    In that way, your Visual Studio may already corrupt. It's time for you to repair your Visual Studio from control panel.
    If it still not work, try use some common steps below to fix:
    Please open an administrative CMD window and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE and run these commands:
    1.devenv.exe  /safemode
    2.devenv.exe  /resetskippkgs
    3.devenv.exe  /installvstemplates
    4.devenv.exe  /resetsettings
    5.devenv.exe  /resetuserdata
    Scenario 2: The new project doesnot get this issue.
    In this way, we should focus on this "The type
    'System.Configuration.UserScopedSettingAttribute' could
    not be found"
    See here from MSDN to know how we can use it in our code:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.configuration.userscopedsettingattribute(v=vs.110).aspx
    Check whether your code list something like below code and check whether you have missed anything here.
    //Application settings wrapper class
    sealed class FormSettings : ApplicationSettingsBase
    [UserScopedSettingAttribute()]
    public String FormText
    get { return (String)this["FormText"]; }
    set { this["FormText"] = value; }
    [UserScopedSettingAttribute()]
    [DefaultSettingValueAttribute("0, 0")]
    public Point FormLocation
    get { return (Point)(this["FormLocation"]); }
    set { this["FormLocation"] = value; }
    [UserScopedSettingAttribute()]
    [DefaultSettingValueAttribute("225, 200")]
    public Size FormSize
    get { return (Size)this["FormSize"]; }
    set { this["FormSize"] = value; }
    [UserScopedSettingAttribute()]
    [DefaultSettingValueAttribute("LightGray")]
    public Color FormBackColor
    get { return (Color)this["FormBackColor"]; }
    set { this["FormBackColor"] = value; }
    Or you can copy your project content to a new fresh project and rebuild your project with new settings.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Visual Studio 2012 cannot resolve symbol or Errors control is not a member of class

    Visual Studio 2012 Web Site Project (Note not a Web application, so there are not Designer.vb files) > Site works perfectly fine and using IIS and attaching to IIS to debug code.
    However, if I try to build the site inside of Visual Studio I am getting lots of Errors ‘pnlName’ is not a member of ‘Page_Name’ In the code behind I am getting errors ‘Cannot resolve symbol ‘pnlName’
    .ascx Page
    <li style="margin-right:0;" id="pnlName" runat="server"><a href="/cart" title="Checkout" class="global-checkout">Checkout</a></li>
    .ascx.vb page
    Me.pnlName.Attributes.Remove("style")
    I have cleaned, rebuild and nothing gets rid of these errors, but again the site works as designed, but I would like to launch and debug inside of Visual Studio.

    Cor,
    What I am stating is this is a solution using the Web Site Project instead of a
    Web Application Project.
    Web Site projects do not require Designer.vb files, Web Application Projects add Designer.vb files in the solution.
    Background: I have been hired to support a very successful e-commerce site that was built by a 3rd party vendor (I had no input on the contract or specification, because I would have went with
    MVC).  The site works 100% correctly, however from my 2003 - 2015 experience with Visual Studio and Web Development being in Web Forms and MVC I have always built ASP.NET Solutions using the Web Application Project Templates, which compiles the code down
    to .dlls.
    A Web Site project does not compile the code, but simply uses the .vb files and they have to be migrated to the server with the .aspx files. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd547590%28v=vs.110%29.aspx
    Currently the only way I can debug this Solution is to attach to the w3wp.exe process running locally on my work station.
    The Solution is comprised of two Web Sites, which I cannot get it to compile because of the following errors -
     'webServerControlName' is not a member of '(Protected Code Behind Class Name)'  I am reaching out to the MSDN community to see if anyone has experienced this issue with
    Web Site Projects.
    I hope that clears up the Project Type question.

  • Get error when passing server name to Crystal Reports in Visual Studio 2012

    Hello,
    I work on Visual Studio 2012 with Crystal Report 13.0.12 (both developer and run-time). When I pass the name of the server to the Crystal Reports, I get an error -- Failed to open the connection.  Database Vendor Code 17.  I use SQL OLEDB as the provider.  It worked before.  Not sure what has happened.
    Any help is much appreciated!!!

  • Libgit2 Error - Trying to checkout/clone a git repository with Visual Studio Tools for Git

    I'm trying to clone a branch from our git repository using Visual Studio Tools for Git. I'm doing the following:
    1. We have a local server that stores all our repositories and they are tracked using GIT+Stash
    2. I create a subbranch B1 from master in repository X using stash
    3. Stash will give me a URL in the form http://user@stash:7990/src/x/repository.git
    4. I go to Visual Studio (where I already installed Visual Studio Tools for Git) and follow the instructions to clone this branch to my local machine using the procedure as described in: Open and Clone a Git team project http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh850445.aspx#remote_3rd_party_connect_clone
    5. Visual studio shows the following error: An error occurred. Detailed message: An error was raised by libgit2. Category = Zlib (Error).
    Failed to inflate packfile
    What is libgit2? Is there anything I should change in my settings or paths? The only workaround I have found for this issue is to clone my branch through Source Tree (third party tool) and then open visual studio, then any other functionality will be fine
    (e.g. commits, push, sync, pull etc, all this I can do directly from Visual Studio)... but why can't I clone from Visual Studio?
    Notes:
    - We're not using TFS (i.e. we only use Git and I'm effectively trying to do the step found in this URL: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh850445.aspx#remote_3rd_party_connect_clone)
    - We use Atlassian Stash (installed in our servers) to create the repositories and branches
    - I'm using Visual Studio 2012
    David

    Hi David,
    I am sorry that I can't reproduce your issue on my machine. I can't set the shared folder path (\\DEVELOPMENT) as local path, but I can set D:\folder which maps to the
    \\DEVELOPMENT path as the local path.
    Maybe you can submit one feedback on the Microsoft Connect site here above your issue:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/CreateFeedbackForm.aspx?FeedbackFormConfigurationID=5303&FeedbackType=1
