Excel spreadsheet and iOS 6

I'm experiencing issues with Excel (xls & xlsx) attachments since updating to iOS 6. The file opens but
the date/time formatting is not being displayed correctly, so every field with a date/time value is being displayed as [$-000]h:mm AM/PM.

This discusses some problems with iOS 6 and Excel

  • Create and name new worksheets in existing excel spreadsheet

    Hello-
    I am running LabVIEW 6i and excel2000. I need to write data acquired in LabVIEW to new worksheets of an already existing excel spreadsheet, and also name these new worksheets. I have been able to create the new worksheets but haven't yet figured out how to name them. I'm new to activeX and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hi Paul,
    Programming using ActiveX can be tricky, especially knowing just what kind of datatypes the different methods and properties are expecting. There are 2 ways I would recommend for users to find out about ActiveX parameters:
    1. Right-click and choose Help for the specific property/method.
    When you have a method or property selected on the Property or Invoke Node, you can right-click and there will be 2 help options--one for the generic Property Node or Invoke Node, the other for the specific method or property that is selected in the node itself. If you select the help for the specific property/method, a Microsoft Visual Basic Reference Help should appear that will provide you with explanations and examples of the datatypes that method/property is expecting given the object that is in use.
    2. Go to the MSDN Library >> Excel Object Model
    This has an overview of Microsoft's Excel Object Model and will also show you how to use Microsoft's Excel Object Model.
    Keep in mind that because ActiveX can be tricky, NI also offers the Report Generation Toolkit to make programming to Word and Excel much easier! Nice tutorials and examples are provided too.

  • Can't paste copied entries from online CSV file into Excel spreadsheet (chatted with zzxc on 5/3/10 at around 2.30 CST but got disconnected. did not get an answer ...)

    Here is the transcript of a chat with Firefox community member zzxcon May 3/10
    You are now chatting with Firefox community member zzxc
    zzxc: Hello
    zzxc: What happens when you attempt to download a .csv file?
    seegal: hello
    seegal: it doesn't copy
    zzxc: how are you trying to copy?
    seegal: pls bear with me I'm a slow typist. Just copy selected text
    Biolizard has joined the conversation.
    zzxc: ok - which text are you selecting?
    seegal: I reconcile my checkbook (spreadsheet this way). I copy the items in my online bank acc and paste it to the spreadsheet
    seegal: I'm using Firefox /2.0.0.19. Have no problem to do this.
    zzxc: Which version of OS X?
    seegal: In all newer version nothing happens when trying to paste- just doesn't paste
    zzxc: Firefox 2.0.0.x is no longer supported, and hasn't been supported in over a year
    zzxc: Paste into Excel, from Firefox?
    seegal: Sorry, I'm ahead... /2.0.0.19
    seegal: Yes. I open my bank acc in Firefox
    zzxc: Which version of Excel?
    zzxc: It would really help if you could tell me step by step what you're doing.
    seegal: First re: your previous question: it's OS 10.4.11
    seegal: About Excell: it'as 2004 version - the lasat one produced for Macs. The specific version is 11.3.7
    seegal: So I open my bank acc online in Firfox (my primary browser). I copy the latest entry in the account and paste it into my Excel spreadsheet.
    zzxc: so, you copy direct from the web page without downloading a CSV file?
    seegal: What do you mean by downloading to CSV file? I could export from the https://chat-support.mozilla.com:9091/webchat/getimage?image=sendmessage&workgroup=support%40workgroup.chat-support.mozilla.comFirefox to the CSV file, but the other way around?
    zzxc: Are you copying your bank statement directly from the web site to Excel using the clipboard?
    seegal: sI don't use the clipboard. This is a mac. There is no need to do that. In PC it would be yes.
    zzxc: I need to know the exact steps you're taking to get them into excel
    zzxc: And I need to know what exactly goes wrong in the latest version of Firefox.
    seegal: Do you have a mac there with Firefox and Excel? It would be very easy to reproduce. Imagine you open an online bank acc, select some entries , click "copy", than proceed to your already open Excel spreadsheet and click' paste". That's it!
    zzxc: When this happens, do you get cryptic code pasted into Excel?
    seegal: As I said before: in all newer versions starting with 3.0 when I go to Excel to "paste" from my bank acc nothing happens. It does not paste. No, I don't get a cryptic code pasted, just NOTHING.
    zzxc: what if you paste into MS Word instead?
    seegal: haven't tried that, the formatting most likely would be lost. Tried that with an other Exc el spreadsheet- it lost all the formating and pasted as continous text.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Pls. see copy of the chat above. THIS A MAC OS X. In older versions, prior to 3.0 I could copy from CSV file on the website Ibank acc) and paste directly to my Excel spreadheet to reconcile my account.

  • When I convert my excel spreadsheet to pdf objects like graphs move down in the page!

    Hi everyone I am very new to this! Please help!
    I was working with someone who has been migrated to Office 2007.  If we create an Excel Spreadsheet and convert it to Pdf all is well. When we do the same with his old files the graphs move to the bottom of the pdf page and any text boxes will change font and the graphs will over run the text. We saved the files as .Xlsm and tried again but to no avail.
    Can some one please help?

    You posted your question to the forum comments forum. This forum is for questions about these forums, not for questions about other Adobe products.
    I am not sure which product you are having a problem with (Acrobat to convert to PDF? Reader to read the PDF? Or the builtin PDF capability of MS Office?), but if it is an Adobe product you can find the appropriate forum from the list of all forums.

  • How can i paste a column of email addresses from an excel spreadsheet into a Mail message To: window

    In the past I have been able to send a group email by copying a column of email addresses from an Excel spreadsheet and pasting it into the To: window of an email message I had composed. I simply dragged my cursor down the column containing the email addresses, right-clicked Copy, put my cursor into the To: window of the email, and hit Paste. Mail recognized the list as a series of email addresses and I was able to hit Send and the email went on its way.
    Today I tried to do this and after I hit Send I got an error message. It appears to me that Mail did not recognize the list as a series of individual email addresses but saw them as one long address; the error message said it "did not appear to be a valid email address". Has something changed in Mail? I recently installed Mavericks!
    I can't be the only one who sends group emails this way. Are others experiencing this problem?

    Now Tony, I know you can't hear my tone on a forum post but I was not complaining, simply stating facts . This change brought several people in my office to a grinding halt in a long established workflow that is really rather simple (and I thought was already assumed from the original post above ):
    1) Select a set of records in FileMaker Pro 12 and export only their e-mail addresses as a CSV file.
    2) Open that CSV file in Excel.
    3) Copy the column of e-mail address.
    4) paste into the appropriate recipient field in Mail.
    5) Send
    If I were to complain it would be about Apple's typically opaque approach to updates. There is no granular explanation of why changes were made or even "what" changes were made.
    Complaining is futile since Apple is Apple and is unlikely to change, but sometimes it is cathartic to "shout into the void" .
    I had thought about doing something with a formula in Excel and your suggestion was simple and helpful. Again, however, it is only a workaround for a long established helpful behavior that Apple has inexplicably broken/removed in Mavericks Mail.
    I, and the other posters here, would love to have the capability back rather than have to add previously unneeded steps to our workflows.
    Ultimately we may add scripting steps to the FileMaker side to export the address lists with commas inserted already if Apple ends up having permanently removed this feature.

  • Need to Merge Excel Spreadsheet data with Word Disposition Sheet

    I work for a Medical Devices manufacturer, and in order to keep track of our failures, we enter data into an Excel Spreadsheet and then print out a Disposition form containing similar information, which then gets attached to the Device folder. I would like
    a way to cut down the time, by entering the info only once (Via Word, Excel, Access), and having specific info copied to a new field in the existing Spreadsheet and a new Word Document. What is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to enter the info with one of the Excel/Word/Access, the similar info will auto fill to the other Office documents. If it is correct, your required need some macro via VBA code. If you have further

  • Property Loader with Excel spreadsheet embedded into a Word doc

    I know I can load test limits from an Excel doc using Property Loader but can I load test limits from an Excel table embedded in a Word document? Has anyone ever done this?

    Jules,
    I looked into how this could be accomplished, and it doesn't look like it is possible using off the shelf methods. Please if anyone figures out how to do that, i would strongly encourage you to write a Community Example . I think your closest work around would be to have the excel document linked in the word document http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA101208101033.aspx . Unfortunately in this situation, the excel file is still seperate from the word doc, and anyone reading the word doc would have to open the excel through the link to view its contents. Also if you move the document, you have to remember to move or change the path of the link. What is your motivation behind having the Excel Spreadsheet in a word document? I agree it would be a novel Idea, but as of now when you copy the object into the word document, it gets encapsulated by the .doc or .docx, and there is no clean easy way I have found to abstract it out. I also looked into the potential of dynamically linking the excel spreadsheet and word document, so when you would update one...it would update the other automatically, unfortunately this functionality doesn't exist (that I could find). Sounds like a pretty good product suggestion for microsoft though ; ) Keep me updated if you find a better work-around.

  • Can you create a new table from an Excel spreadsheet

    It would be GREAT if there was a way to use SQL Developer to take an Excel Spreadsheet, and create a new table based on it - does anyone know if that's possible?

    Excellent - yes, from the thread on the SQLDeveloper website, it looks like you will be able to create a new table from an .xls file - very cool!
    Does anyone know when version 1.1 is supposed to be coming out?

  • Script to rotate an image in InDesign CS4 from an Excel Spreadsheet

    Hi all,
    Is there a script for InDesign CS4 that reads degrees from an excel spreadsheet and then rotates a specific image by the same amount of degrees that was written in this excel spreadsheet? I would like to create a column in Excel full of rotation degrees and then go to InDesign, run the script for a specific image and the image will rotate automatically.
    If there isn't a script like that already around, can you let me know if it is possible to be done and also if it is possible, can you help me create one please?
    Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Using PowerShell to add VBA to an Excel spreadsheet

    I have a PowerShell script that creates an Excel spreadsheet and is able to save it.  I also have VBA code that I would like to put into that newly created spreadsheet.
    Is there a way of adding the VBA code into my newly created spreadsheet using PowerShell?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for the response Alex,
    Where I use to work, we would commonly do this with VBScript and Excel 2003.   Below is an example from the Scripting Repository using VBScript (Add a Macro
    to an Excel Spreadsheet)
    Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
    objExcel.Visible = True
    objExcel.DisplayAlerts = False
    Set objWorkbook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open("C:\scripts\test.xls")
    Set xlmodule = objworkbook.VBProject.VBComponents.Add(1)
    strCode = _
    "sub test()" & vbCr & _
    " msgbox ""Inside the macro"" " & vbCr & _
    "end sub"
    xlmodule.CodeModule.AddFromString strCode
    objWorkbook.SaveAs "c:\scripts\test.xls"
    objExcel.Quit
    We would use a variant of this method to generate static Excel reports from spreadsheets that were linked to external data sources.
    Now...  it's time for me to upgrade my code and get on the PowerShell boat :)  So I have been working on a script that does a similar thing, but there does not appear to be a method of adding a macro to an Excel spreadsheet using PowerShell.  There
    appears to be no way of calling VBProject.VBComponents.Add from within PowerShell.
    I have tried manipulating the data that resides within Excel by directly accessing it from PowerShell, but this has proven to be painfully slow.  What a macro can do in 3 seconds, takes PowerShell 8 hours to do :(
    If it can't be done... then I'll have to revert back to my old ways.  But if it can be done, great!!!  PowerShell has alot more to offer me than VBScript did.

  • Cannot open an Excel spreadsheet

    Hi All, I've been testing Numbers but was mostly disappointed at step 1. I simply wanted to open an existing Excel spreadsheet and I get the error;
    "The document can’t be imported because it’s too large."
    The spreadsheet is 55kb and contains 5 tabs(!!??) Ive tried deleting one tab at a time and re-opening in Numbers but I still get the same message.
    I therefore decided to copy and paste each sheet into a Numbers work sheet. That worked fine except for the fact that the formulas are not copied over. As a final attempt I tried to save my spreadsheet in a different format from Excel but found that Numbers can only open a limited number of file types, i.e. no Lotus support. In desperation I decided to export the spreadsheet in CSV format from Excel but upon trying to open it in Numbers I get the same message as before;
    "The document can’t be imported because it’s too large."
    It looks like i'll be sticking with Excel for the foreseeable future. To me numbers looks like a beta product lacking in much functionality as many of you have already described. One could question if this should be a retail product at this stage.
    I wish you all the best of luck with your Numbers experience.
    Jason

    I have yet to see that message, and I've asked it to open some 2MB+ multi-thousand-cell Excel sheets. Is your spreadsheet sharable? If so, I'd love to take a look at it -- I'm working on our review of Numbers now, and such things would be useful to see if I can figure out why it's breaking.
    If you can share, please let me know via email; my work email address is my first initial and last name at the domain shown below.
