  • Can we extend the Throwable class instead of Exception Class??

    Hi all..
    Can we extend the Throwable class instead of Exception Class while creating our own custom Exception?If not Why?
    Please give your valuble advices..
    Ramesh.

    I don't want to hijack the thread here, but in a conversational tone...on a related note.. I've thought about this too a bit and wondered if there are some recommended practices about catching and handling Throwable in certain applications. Like the other day I was debugging a web application that was triggering a 500. The only way I could find the problem in an error stack was to write code to catch Throwable, log the stack, and then re-throw it. I considered it "debug" code, and once I solved the problem I took the code out because, my understanding is, we don't want to be handling runtime problems... or do we? Should I have a catch clause for Throwable in my servlet and then pass the message to ServletException?
    So along with the OP question, are there separate defined occasions when we should or should not handle Throwable? Or does it just all depend on circumstance?

  • How to recover from an exception on a class loaded with a classloader?

    I have created a classloader for the purpose of dynamically loading "modules" . The whole application is multithreaded and the separate modules may also run as separate threads. The problem that I am facing is that if one of the modules crashes (does not handle an exception), then the class loader object which loaded the required classes and started the module's thread, cannot be accessed. The thread which attempts to access this class loader freezes. Is there any way to recover from this situation?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok, let me provide a bit more information. Each "module" is handled by specific class (let's call it ModuleDescriptor), which subclasses the URLClassLoader class. The ModuleDescriptor class is responsible for describing each module, maintain module state information (loaded, unloaded, started, stopped, etc) and also executing some method calls on a specific object of the module, which in essence acts as a means to start or stop the module. Each module is a separate thread and is packaged in a JAR file, which is first downloaded locally. If one of these module threads crashes, then I cannot even call a method of the ModuleDescriptor to perform the necessary unloading bit. Basically, when I can the method that thread of execution halts without an exception or an error or anything. The rest of the application continues working properly (other threads). I find this situation bizarre, because the ModuleDescriptor object and the actual module with the thread that crashed execute on separate threads. If there is any more specific information that I have to provide, please let me know.

    I should be more specific and have a bit more to add....
    We have our app in an .ear file. I find that when I put the startup
    classes in a seperate directory which is in the classpath specified in the
    startWeblogic.cmd file they will be run on startup. I don't think I should
    have to do this since these files exist in the ear file. I think this is
    causing other problems too such as an illegalAccessError I get when an EJB
    tries to load a class which was previously accessed by the startup classes.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Instanciation of nested class using Class.newInstance();

    I am having a problem to instanciate a nested class using Class
    new instance method. The problem is as follows:
    class A {
    public static class B {
    String xxx;
    class Instance {
    public static void main ( String args []) {
    String name = "A"
    Class name_class = Class.forName(name);
    Object name_object = name_class.newInstance();
    Class [] in_classes = name_class.getClasses();
    for (i =0; i < in_classes.length; i ++) {
    Class inner = in_classes ;
    System.out.println("class =" + inner.getName());
    Here: Object inner_object = inner.newInstance();
    An exception is thown at <Here> line where the newInstance is called

    Anybody run into this problem, please help.

    Well, it seems to work for me :D

  • Can't load class with Class.forName()

    Hi, can somebody help me with this problem. I have clas copiled with jdk 1.3.1 (I also test it with jdk 1.4.1). If I try to load a Class instance with Class.forName("package.app.MyClass)") I have a runtime exception:

    but if instead of this I instantiate the class calling the constructor and writing an import sentence, it works fine. I really need to instantiate this class via Class.forName because it extends a superclass and know the class to instantiate only at runtime. I will appreciate any help. Thanks.
    Pablo Antonioletti

    I removed the import in the file header and wrote this code:
    try{
    ispecModel = new com.unisys.ebs.all.ispecs.GD130IspecModel();
    Class ispecClass = Class.forName("com.unisys.ebs.all.ispecs.GD130IspecModel.class");
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    the new sentence work fine, if write mor code I can access methods and members. When the runtime execute the Class.forName sentence the exception is thrown. I put all in the same file and class to avoid mistakes typing class path.
    This is very rare I never seen it before and I developed java application since five years ago.

  • Evaluation Class, Cumulations Class, & processing class:  Indian Payroll

    Dear All.,
    Indian Payroll
    What are the Evaluation Class, Cumulations Class, & processing class we need to maintain for ESI Eligibility for a Wage Type ?
    Scenario : Except LTA all other Salary Components(as part of Infotype 8) consider for ESI Eligibiilty. So I wanted to check all other WTs.
    Pls guide me how do i can deal with this.

    Use t-code PC00_M99_DLGA20 to generate the "Use of WT in Payroll" report, for Country Grouping 40, without specifying any WT, and using the WT Validity Dates from Today to Today.
    When the report is on screen, double click on "Meaning of processing classes and their values".
    Click on any character in the report's description of Processing Class 01, and use the Binoculars to search for ESI.  The system should show 4 "hits", all on PrCl 72.
    I don't know anything of Indian Payroll, but it would seem that PrCl 72 is relevant for ESI.  Use this report to see what WTs cumulate or don't cumulate into ESI/PTX basis (drill down in each line of PrCl 72).

  • Is nested class = derived class?

    When I am playing around with nestedclasses, I found an interesting thing:
    public class NestedInterfaceDemo implements NestedInterfaceDemo.i1{
          interface i1{
          public void method1();
          public void method1(){
          System.out.println("Hello!");}
    }Because whenever we want to, say, make an inner object of an inner static class type, we always do Outer.Inner inner = new Outer.Inner().
    ANd if I change the Outer class to something else, say Outer.Inner inner = new BlaBla.Inner(), the compiler will say it cant find package BlaBla.
    so this kinda tells me the nestedclass has a package of a name of its outerclass. so the inner class fully qualified name would be Outer.Inner
    If I do the above code like this:
    public class NestedInterfaceDemo implements i1{
          interface i1{
          public void method1();
          public void method1(){
          System.out.println("Hello!");}
    }the compiler will say it cant resolve symbol i1.
    Now if I change it to the first code, the compiler says different, yet interesting thing:
    cyclic inheritance involving NestedInterfaceDemo
    line: public class NestedInterfaceDemo implements NestedInterfaceDemo.i1{
    From this, it should imply that the compiler can resolve the i1 interface, but does the "cyclic inheritance" mean that i1 interface also inherits from NestedInterfaceDemo??

    Hello caspar again, so I retry helping you in another thread, perhaps I overreacted or misinterpreted something in the other thread. You know, my english is not the best. Perhaps I did not get you right.
    ANd if I change the Outer class to something else,
    say Outer.Inner inner = new BlaBla.Inner(),
    the compiler will say it cant find package BlaBla.
    so this kinda tells me the nestedclass has a package
    of a name of its outerclass. so the inner class fully
    qualified name would be Outer.Inner
    Assume we have the following:
    package mypackage;
    class Outer {
      class Inner {
    }The full qualified class name of Inner is mypackage.Outer.Inner.
    The java compiler cannot tell only from syntax if an element in such expression is a package or class or an inner class. It says it cant find package BlaBla in your example, because it assumed it would be a package. A better error message of the compiler would have been: "cannot find package or class BlaBla".
    Beg the compiler to be more clear ;-)
    This can be a little confusion with inner classes, but there is a naming convention that helps us to distinguish: class names start with upper letters, packages with lower. But still the compiler cannot know.
    I hope this could help at least a little.
    From this, it should imply that the compiler
    can resolve the i1 interface, but does the
    "cyclic inheritance" mean that i1 interface also
    inherits from NestedInterfaceDemo??No, i don't know, why Java does not allow this.
    if does not inherit from NestedInterfaceDemo.
    Your construction could work in runtime if Java would allow.
    Does anybody know any reason except for bad style?
    regards

  • What is the field and Table for "Batch Class" and "Class Type" in QM.

    Hi All,
    What is the field and Table for "Batch Class" and "Class Type" in QM.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
      For batch class the class type value is '023' . This you can find from KLAH table and the fileld for class type is KLART..
    And also all the data related to batch class are found in tables INOB, KLAH,KKSK and for the characeteristics of batch materials you can refer AUSP table.
    In INOB table, for batch class, you need to give 023 in KLART field and  value MCH1 in OBTAB filed.
    Please check this and let me know if this you need any more details?

  • Message Error in classification (class REL_PREQ_ITEM class type 032

    Hi gurus,
    Can anybody plz explain me to solve the following message. This comes when i hit the classification button in the release strategies step in the release procedure
    Error in classification (class REL_PREQ_ITEM class type 032
    Thanks
    Anusha

    I made changes to 4 strategies in the development client and they seemed to work fine. so i pushed them to quality system. and now out of the 4 startegies for two strategies i get this message. When i mean i changed the strategy in the development client, i refer to the characteristics on the classification of a release startegy, i replaced a purchasing group and changed the dollar amount out of the chracterisitics doc type, account assignemnt category, total dollar value, purchasing group and plant. I tested to make sure that the release startegy kicks off when all the conditions are met for that startegy in pur req in the development environment. But now this does not happen in the quality system. I get that message and also the release startegy is not getting kicked off in the quality environment
    Thanks

    Hi all,
    I have encountered same problem in ITS 6.20.
    Query.class is packed in ws.jar which is stored at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\<SID>\sap\its\mimes\webgui\99\applets and C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\<SID>\sap\its\mimes\webgui\2002\applets in ITS server.
    I increased the trace level to 3 in the Java console to inevestigate the problem further.
    == Java console (Trace level 3 ) ===
    network: cache entry not found URL: https://hostname.domain.co.jp:443/sap/its/mimes/webgui/2002/applets/ws.jar、version: null
    network: Connect to https://hostname.domain.co.jp:443/sap/its/mimes/webgui/2002/applets/ws.jar (Proxy=DIRECT)

    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    load: class Query.class not found.
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Query.class
    ==========================
    Then I found out that when system tried to load class Qery.class the connection to ITS was refused becase the incorrect protocol ( https ) was chosen.  In my case, SSL was not setup, therefore protocol must be http.
    I activated http by changing the configuration file for WGate in C:\Program Files\SAP\ITS\6.20\config\ ItsRegistryWGATE.xml
    After that, I restarted the WGate by accessing to http://hoostname.domain.co.jp:port/scripts/wgate/wgate-restart to activate the configuration.
    And also I restarted the AGate by restarting the Windows Service "SAP ITS Manager - <SID>".
    Anyway, the html (BHTML) file that displays the message below is stored at C:\Program Files\SAP\ITS\620\templates\system\dm\itsdoc.html
    "Please Wait. You will be forwarded automatically"
    "This page has been loaded due to technical Reasons"
