Sorry for the late reply.
I think it is in the native function because you can
read it in the stack.
An unexpected exception has been detected in native
code outside the VM.

Do you know what libc and realloc are? realloc is a ANSI C standard method and libc is where the compiler keeps the ANSI C library stuff.
And given that realloc() has been around for 30 years, I am pretty sure that it is not the problem.
On the other hand the java stack track indicates a problem in one of the java font methods. And there are numerous errors in the java bug database related to the use of fonts.

    is it possible to click a key when the air app is out of focus, and will trigger an event in air?

    You may want to check the security documentation on that one.  I don't know of many non-OS apps that can intercept keyboard events without focus.  Keystroke sniffers on the other hand ....

  • An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.

    I thought that my problem had been solved yesterday when I managed to run my application with out getting "An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM."
    I was told to uninstall "j2sdk1.4.1_02" and install my old version of 1.3.1 and then completely remove that (as i do not think i removed it correctly in the first place), then reinstall my new version again (j2sdk1.4.1_02). This appeared to work, and my application ran. However, today i planned to do more work on it and it errored again. I am getting the following error:

    I am now not sure at all why my computer is doing this, as it worked yesterday...
    Any light shed on this matter is much appreciated.
    Thanks, Mike

    Welcome to native code hell! The reason we all use Java is because
    native code sucks. It is to be isolated and quarantined to the smallest
    area possible.
    File a TAR/SR. Maybe you just need a newer vesion of the OCI client
    libraries on your machine. Maybe they are out of sync with the native
    portion of the type-2 driver.
    Say why you went from type-4 to type-2. In my opinion, unless you have
    a very good reason, you should go back to the reliable java driver. Java
    can't kill a JVM.
    Good luck,

    I seriously hope I posted this in the right forum, there was so many, and it was confusing. Please forgive me if I didn't.
    Anyways, I was playing a online game, RuneScape, when my browser suddenly closed. Later on, I finally noticed that there was a notepad document on my desktop:

    I am running Windows XP Home Edition, and I have the latest Java.
    This has happened several times, but it's just with this one game. Can someone please help me? I'd really appreciate it.

    Have you tried a current version of Java. ie. 1.4.2_08 or 1.5.0_03 ?

  • What meaNing is the error: "detected in native code outside the VM"

    Hi,
    I am trying to run dbca to create database(10.2.0.1 for Linux x86) in RHEL5 beta2, after I click the OK button on the parameter confirmon window, will display the Java exception:
    detected in native code outside the VM
    How resolve the problem?
    Thanks!

  • Unexpected error detected in natve code outside the VM when using loadjava

    When I try to use loadjava to load and resolve a class into Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 or compile the source into a class using the v switch I get the following error stack, does anyone know why this is, could this be due to a bug in 10.2.0.1.0 ?
    C:\>loadjava -u techsupp/techsupp -v FileUtils.java

    Hi:
    Is not a bug on the internal OJVM, I mean this will not affect your code running inside the database.
    The problem is with the Sun JVM shipped with your 10g database, note the message:
    Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.4.2_08-b03 interpreted mode)
    If you can load your Java code without using -v (verbose) flag it will run OK.
    If not try loading your Java class compiled outside in .class format. Remember to compile the class with a JDK 1.4.
    Also you could find a workaround for the Sun JVM at Sun's blogs.
    There is an alternate method for loading classes using Ant task or Maven, see this projects as examples:
    [http://dbprism.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dbprism/ojvm/]
    [http://dbprism.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/dbprism/DataService/]
    Note the loadjava.xml file which defines an Ant task using the aurora.zip file shipped with your Oracle database and which have the logic for uploading classes.
    Best regards, Marcelo.

  • The crash happened outside the java virtual machine in native code

    Hi,
    I have a biometric device with which I am given some C++ dlls. I am trying to call methods inside these using java (jna). I am loading the dll "zkemsdk.dll+" as follows:
    zkemkeeper INSTANCE1 = (zkemkeeper)Native.loadLibrary("zkemsdk", zkemkeeper.class);//zkemsdk is the dll, I am loading the dll here.
    Then, I am calling the function:
    zkemkeeper.INSTANCE1.Z_Connect_NETEX("ip address",4370);//Z_Connect_NETEX is a function inside zkemsdk.dll
    This returns me true or false based on whether am connected to the biometric device or not.Thus I am able to invoke this method without issues. But for other methods inside the dll, run time exception is thrown in console:
    Can someone help me resolve this issue. ??? Following is the content of the log file generated.

It is impossible to say how, where and why. Go back to your code and start debugging I'd say, see where invalid data can be passed to the native code.

  • Why do I get an error outside the VM in the 3d api when resizing windows?

    I'm just starting with the 3d api.
    Ive created a simpleUniverse and added a branchGroup and
    some TransformGroups.I've created multi-color pyramid that
    rotates using a RotationInterpolator. Everything works fine
    except when I try to resize the window, this happens:
    An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.

    I tried this:
    SimpleUniverse su = new SimpleUniverse(myCanvas3D);
    su.getViewer().getView().setWindowResizePolicy(View.VIRTUAL_WORLD );and some other variations but they don't have any effect.
    Then I ran some of the 3D example programs from sun and the same
    thing happens to them.
    Does anyone know why this is happening?
    Is there a solution?
    ps> I am running all of these as applications not as applets.

    I believe that you are running into a problem with the version of the IMAGEHLP.DLL that you are running.
    DLLs are Dynamic Linked Libraries, containing native compiled functions available for use by applications.
    I am not familiar with that particular DLL (not really a windows programmer, just dabble occasionally ;-)) but it looks like the VM is trying to access a function in that DLL that is not available.
    As you probably already know the VM has to interface with native code and libraries to work on a given machine. In your case, it appears to be trying to interface with a portion of the native windowing/redraw/resize functionality.
    On Windows there is a real nightmare as there are multiple APIs for accessing the native functionality embedded in multiple DLLs of which there are often multiple different versions in circulation. You will find that sometimes certain functionality can only be accessed by using an undocumented feature of a DLL and these features can disappear or be moved between versions - that is one reason why I much prefer java to MS C++...
    There are a few things you can do to try and resolve this, see if there is a newer or older version of the JVM/Java3D extensions that works on your system, apply appropriate service packs or patches to windows if specified by the JVM/Java3D and update/change your graphics card drivers. Fixing this kind of problem in windows is a bit of a black art unless you can find someone who has had the exact same problem before and fixed it.
    All I can say now is good luck!
    Bob B.

  • Why native code outside the VM when I use JNI in web application?

    I have a web application by using JBOSS as the server in windows XP environment. I need to call native functions in my servletAction class to check some information. After I start JBOSS and WebServer(tomcat), it works well when I launch the web page to call that native funtions in the first a few times, but after a while when I reopen that page in IE to call native funtions it throws me an unexpected error and shut down the jboss automatically. Could know how to solve it? Thank you guys in advance!

    Following is what I am doing:
    I have a key.java file with several native functions.
    In key.cpp I defined the implementation of above functions then created dynamic link library file key.dll. I put the key.dll to WEB-INF/lib/key.dll.
    Then in a servlet Action class, I called new key().keyPresent and new key().readBlock(0, 8, block, p1,p1).
    Public class Key{
    public native int keyPresent(int password1, int password2);
    public native void readBlock(int startMemoryLocation, int size,
    byte[] block, int password1, int password2);
    static {
    System.loadLibrary("Key");
    //A Singleton Class
    private static Key key;
    private Key()
    public static Key getSingletonObject()
    if ( key== null)
    key = new Key();
    return key;

    throw new CloneNotSupportedException();

    }

    the error happens in your native-code which runs outside the VM of course, since its native.
    You access some memory where you don't have rights to do so, in a normal win32-app you would get the "application crashed at 0xdeadbeef"-window, and since java cannon guarantee that your code did not destroy something it shuts down.
    I would try to debug my code withought java in a C++ IDE/Debugger.
    good luck, lg Clemens

  • HELP! I want to know whether my hand-me-down iPhone 4 is SIM/carrier-locked or not. I was given an iPhone 4 which I think was purchased outside the Philippines.

    I was given an iPhone 4 which I believed was purchased outside the Philippines. The previous owner had it jailbroken but something went wrong so it was stuck on DFU mode. So when it was given to me, I had it restored and updated via iTunes to iOS 5.1. I bought a micro-sim and inserted it on the sim tray. iTunes was able to detect the SIM card number and there was NO MESSAGE like the sim card is not supported whatsoever which can be usually seen in unsupported simcard. I thought everything went smoothly. But when I tried to set-up the phone, the SLIDE TO UNLOCK button is unresponsive. It doesn't work so I was stuck there and my iPhone cannot be accessed because of that. What shall I do? I have tried doing the hard reset several times, it still didn't work. I have tried restoring my iPhone three times but the slide to unlock is still unresponsive. I think the iPhone was able to detect my carrier simcard since it shows on the top corner the name of my carrier, mobile signal and 3g network. Now I am wondering as to why the slide to unlock button is unresponsive? Was it because of my iPhone LCD or was it because the iPhone is locked? Please help.

    according to some blogs, if the sim card you are using is unsupported, iTunes will show you a message that the sim card you are using is unsupported. But when i opened itunes, I didn't see that message. Instead, it was able to detect my sim card number. So I guess, the simcard is supported. It isn't the original sim, though. Then the phone was able to detect the mobile carrier, mobile and 3g signals. So iam wondering whether my phone is locked or was it a hardware problem?

  • Why do I have to declare my int outside the function?

    `Hi!
    I've writen the very simple class get_results with one methode test:
    public class Get_results {
       protected int nb=0;
    public int test(int numb) {
             //int nb=0;
             nb=numb;
             return nb;
               }//End test
    }//End classthis methode will be called from a jsp file:
    <jsp:useBean id="results" scope="session" class="mypackage.Get_results" />
    <%= results.test(3) %>I don't understand why I have to declare int nb outside the function test. If I declare int nb at the beginning of the function and not right at the beginning of the class
    public class Get_results {
    public int test(int numb) {
             int nb=0;
             nb=numb;
             return nb;
               }//End test
    }//End classthe it doesn't work. I don't understand why since I only need the int nb in the test methode and nowhere else in the class.
    can anyone explane this to me?
    thanks.

  • Launching a Preview Session Outside the ATG Business Control Center

    I have setup a remote preview server on ATG 10.1.1. Everything works great when viewing it inside the BCC however I’m wondering how to access the preview server outside the BCC. According to the ATG documentation, it sounds like that’s possible. The ATG docs state:
    “Users can preview project asset changes outside the framework of the Business Control Center. For example, you might want employees or outside reviewers who do not have access to the Business Control Center to evaluate changes to a Web application while it undergoes development. In this case, you can enable preview on servers that do not have the Business Control Center installed, then give reviewers URLs to the launch pages on these servers. They can invoke these URLs from any browser window.
    Note: Users who are not logged into the Business Control Center can invoke preview sessions only with URLs to a server where the Business Control Center is not running. In order to avoid security breaches, URLs to preview sessions on the Business Control Center server are blocked.”
    This is the only information I found in the documentation that talks about viewing preview outside the BCC. Based on this limited information, there are a lot of questions I have about how this actually works.
    1. Any attempt to hit any page on my remote preview server outside the BCC, I see the following exception:
    “ERROR [PreviewProfileRequestProcessor] An attempt was made to preview a project without logging in as a user with access to publishing assets. If you are running a local preview instance, the preview URLs registered with the PreviewURLManager may be misconfigured. Ensure that the preview URLs are configured with the same host and domain name used to access the BCC server. This preview request URL is: http://localhost:8280/sample_catalog/index.jsp. If you are running a remote preview instance, the Preview feature does not support remote preview on servers running the BCC. Ensure that the remote preview instance is not running any of the BCC related modules. If you received this error and did not try to perform a remote preview, then you may need to disable preview in the current web application by setting the atg.preview context parameter to false in the webapps web.xml file.”
    I am not running the BCC on this instance so I’m not sure why I am seeing this. Is there something configuration I'm missing here?
    2. I don’t understand where these urls would come from that a reviewer would use to preview the application. There is no "remote preview url" when previewing a page from within the BCC to copy and send to a reviewer so how would a BCC user send a url to a reviewer?
    3. Assuming the reviewing knew which page to hit in the remote preview server, how would that page use the assets from a project? Should the project id of the project be include as a param to the url?
    - Michael

    Shaik, if only it was that simple :( Do you have much experience working with remote preview or are you just guessing here like I have been? In order to help clarify my post though, here is the scenario that describes the basis for my questions:
    A business user is working on a project within Merchandising of the BCC
    1.     The user makes a change to a category
    2.     The user clicks the Preview Button on the tool bar
    3.     The system displays the Preview launcher screen
    4.     The user selects a pre-configured profile user and page for the preview session
    5.     The user clicks the Flexed based launch button
    6.     The application displays within the context of the BCC browser/tab
    7.     The business user would like to send that url to a reviewer who does not have access to login to the BCC
    What happens from step 6 is that a giant iframe launches from within the context of the BCC browser/tab. If you are using remote preview, it is still an iframe and still displays within the context of the BCC browser/tab, the only difference is that the BCC is proxying information to the preview instance in order to initialize the preview session to display the application in the context of the business user’s project. The url the user sees in the browser is the url for the BCC, not the remote preview server. Because the UI for Merchandising and Preview is built using Flex, there is no way to click on the Preview button to open it up in another tab or browser. The only way your suggestion would work is if there is a way to configure the Flex UI to have it open up preview in a new browser/tab which I doubt is possible.
    I hope this helps better explain my post. With that said though, this brings me back to my original questions.

  • Mac-mini "detect displays" where is the individual model's DDC info stored?

    I have a dilemna- I just bought a new 20" NEC LCD screen that has all sorts of bells and whistles. It's 1600 x 1050 native, and has DVI, analog VGA, YUV, compostie, and RF inputs. It is supposed to have a scalar that supports a multitude of resolutions including 1920 x 1080i.
    I bought it for a system of which has (2) mini-macs through a DVI KVM. I had one mini-mac successfully read the DDC info from the montior, and it provides a wide range of supported resolutions (including 1600 x 1050). All resolutions listed are progressive (no interlaced options)
    When I switched my KVM to the 2nd mini-mac it was stuck in 1024 x 768, and that was the highest res that the display preferences gave me (probably because that's what it read off the DDC of the KVM switch?). When I hit the "detect displays" button, it proceeded to update the list of supported resolutions, but a very bizzarre thing happened: It did the opposite of the first mini-mac, and only listed "interlaced" video resolutions (with the exception of 1280 x 720p and 640 x 480p). The list was all 'broadcast-style" resolutions.
    The profile for this montior on this mini-mac is now stuck in this mode, and I cannot get the desired 1600 x 1050 resolution that is native to the monitor. I've tried everything I could think of including ditching plists, clearing the PRAM, tricking the mini-mac, etc....
    It's almost as if a mini-mac stores a registry of the monitor's DDC information onto the video card 'permanently' the first time, and never allows to re-read the DDC info again???
    Does anyone know how to clear this registry?
    The other clue to this whole thing is that the monitor has an option where you can set the DVI IN to either "DVI-PC" or "DVI-HD". The fussy mini-mac displays nothing in "DVI-PC" mode, and the behaving mini-mac displays in both modes. It's possible that the monitor was in "DVI-HD" when I hit the "detect displays" button on the fussy mini-mac.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Wow, I wish I had your set up to play with. I could probably learn a lot from it
    When DDC is read by the Mac, and when users make resolution settings based on it, the resultant settings are stored in a file called com.apple.windowserver.plist. There is one such file in /Library/Preferences but there may also be occurances of it for each user account on machines set up for multiple users AFAIK. They are plain text files so you can actually read them with TextEdit or other text editors.
    The simplest thing to do might be to copy the file from the mini giving the desired behavior and use it to replace the file on the mini with the bad behavior. I don't think there is any machine specific info in the file, so I believe the file should be portable in this manner. On the other hand, this may not work because when you restart the misbehaving mini it might regenerate a "bad" windowserver.plist file again and replace the one you just copied over. Although I don't think that will be the case. Can't hurt to try. You might want to keep the older pref file around and rename it to "preferences.old". There is a procedure outlined here that is similar although it is based on doing everyting from starting into console mode:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464
    As for why one mini is reading EDID one way and the other reads altogether something else, that's a really good question and one that I hope you are able to track down the answer to and report your findings back here. It could provide a lot of insight into other types of problems people have reported on this forum. Perhaps it relates to the DVI-PC or DVI-HD setting you refered to, but I have never known any other display that actively changed its EDID. EDID is always fixed I thought. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

  • Claims authentication: "Server was unable to process request. --- Index was outside the bounds of the array"

    Hi there,
    I recently got a peculiar error when users tried to log-in into a SP 2010 portal using claims based authentication.
    The following error is logged in the event viewer of the SP server in question:
    Event ID 8306 - Claims authentication
    An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: Server was unable to process request. ---> Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    I also found an IIS warning entry with a similar message:
    Event ID 1309 - Web Event
    Exception type: FaultException
    Exception message: Server was unable to process request. ---> Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    I simply could not find an answer to why this happened, but an iisreset seemed to have fixed the issue. I was wondering if anyone here would know a possible root cause for this issue?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
