Exception handling in File adapter when directory structure is incorrect

hi,
How can exception handling part be done in File adapter in cases where directory structure is incorrect, or directory
we are referring to is not present.
thanks
Yatan

If you are polling then there will be error message in log files.But i dont think we can do exception handling in such cases.

  • Exception handling In File Adapter

    My requirement is that i am reading a file using file adapter but the file is not in correct format so it is not reading that file and even not making any bpel instance.
    so i need to add exception handling that show me the above error(file read failure).
    we have log file in that it is showing this error but i need to show that error on BPEL console.
    Please help how to proceed with this.
    Thanks
    Vivek Garg

    I am able to call another bpel when error occured in file reading Bpel.
    the second Bpel will handle the error and shows the error. but addition to that i need BPEL process name which fails(File Read BPEL) and call second BPEL.
    Thanks

  • How to add fault handling for file adapter??

    Hi guys I am new to SOA technology ,I have one scenario  in file adapter  ,when file adapter reads a file from directory .If file is there   then read the file  data else it can give user defined exception that  the file is not there .How can i write user defined exception in SOA?? Give me any ideas please.............
    Thanks in advance..

    So, you want to (1) Fetch the data from these 3 type of files and (2) Also, store the payload data of the file, which is in XML format, into the same database tables ?
    If this is the requirement.. then, I would say, you could :
    (1) Read files using file adapter, but not as opaque.. Define schemas conforming to the file structures. In that way, you'll always have the file data read in the form of XML.
    (2) Fetch relevant data from such XML payloads of files and insert into database tables. Then, insert the XML payload into WHO column. You might have to convert the xml data into blob/clob before inserting.
    Job done !

  • Error Handling in File Adapter

    I have been working on a requirement where the file adapter picks up the file and gives to the BPEL for processing the data.
    So, in order to do Error Handling for file adapter, i have been reading the Oracle documentation for technology adapters. In that, some of the
    points which i felt valuable for my error handling when using file adapter are the uniqueMessageSeparator property, fault-policies for rejected messages,
    and one of the action for rejected messages could be writing the payload to a file or invoking any other webservice.
    In my composite, i have configured the file adapter as a service for reading files, and i defined the xsd using the native format builder....If i put some data like 'aaaa' in the attribute of type integer , the .csv file is being picked up and its being passed to the BPEL without any error ? I believe there should be a translation error...right...
    But i am not getting the error, please tell me if anything is wrong in my xsd....
    Here is my xsd...
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd"

    attributeFormDefault="unqualified"
    nxsd:version="NXSD"
    nxsd:stream="chars"
    nxsd:encoding="US-ASCII"

    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    And for DB Adapter, there is a property called SchemaValidation, i think that is not there for File adapter, by default it will take care of validation i guess....In another composite, my file adapter is picking up the .xml file and if i put any wrong data over there, that is working fine, i am getting the translation error, but only here in the case of csv file, i am not getting the error. Experts, please help me in this regard...I am using SOA 11G
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    Hi Yatan,
    Thanks for the reply. I did the same way, where my composite is picking up an XML file and translation error is coming. Even the fault policies are working fine, like writing to a file and even invoking other web service. Its really good that you have achieved the same thing in csv files. But the same thing i am unable to achieve when my file adapter is picking up the csv file. I really cant understand where i am doing wrong.
    here is my XSD which i defined through my native builder format...

    I told that the file will contain only 1 record while defining xsd and i kept a record whose values are John , Peter and akjdkjdskj.
    Now if the data is like above, the file is still getting picked up without any translation error and the BPEL is getting completed successfully...
    Is it possible for you to send your sample project and the csv file from which you have defined the xsd to me if you dont mind ?

  • How to use File Adapter with hierarchial Structure?

    Hi,

    Bcoz I am getting a Flatfile in a hierarchial way as shown below.

    Kishore

    Hey Kishore,
    In order to create a structure you need to use the file with convertion mode on the sending communication channel of the file adapter.
    check the link for the needed configuration paramters.
    If the structure is more complexed you can use the Contetnt master(CM) from itemfield which allows to ceate XML file from complex flat files and more.

    Hi,
    we have to explicitly mention batch while configuaring file adapter.
    i.e. in step 5 : Check file contains multiple messages and mention how many messages u want to process in a batch.
    i.e. if you have 10000 msgs in ur file mention the size as 500. Then it will read 10000 records in 20 batches.
    Now while writing to a file use Append=true property.
    U have to add this property to fileadapter.wsdl (in jca:operation tag) which will be created when u complete the configuaration of file adapter with write operation.

  • Organize iTunes file list by Directory Structure instead of artist/album?

    Hello, I have searched for different audio players for os x which might have this feature but so far have had no luck. What I'm looking for is a feature similar to that of foobar2000 for win32 where I can organize my music by directory structure without the iTunes automatic organization by artist/album. Is there a way I can accomplish this in iTunes with some sort of xml config or hidden options? Thanks.

    You don't have to have iTunes move music around on your hard drive (Preferences>Advanced>General, uncheck Keep iTunes Music folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library) but I suspect that's not what you're asking. You can't automatically view music from within iTunes by directory structure. iTunes organizes by ID3 tags ("mp3 tags"). You could, I suppose, spend a lot of time replicating your directory structure by using folders and playlists within iTunes but you'd probably have to do it all by hand.
    You could check out Doug's Scripts to see if there are some scripts that might help.

  • Reg:File adapter archive Directory

    Dear team,
    Our requirement is to read a csv file from a directory and archive the file in archive folder specified in the file adapter.
    If any exception is caught,then we need to read the archieve file from archive directory rename the archive file with source file name and place it in source directory.
    On the receive activity we are able to get the source file name and source file directory.
    <receive name="Receive1" createInstance="yes"
    variable="Receive1_Read_InputVariable" partnerLink="fileRead"
    portType="ns1:Read_ptt" operation="Read">
    <bpelx:property name="jca.file.FileName" variable="srcFileName"/>
    <bpelx:property name="jca.file.Directory" variable="srcDrFolder"/>
    How to get the archive file name and archive file directory from the receive activity so that we can store in local variables.
    Pls do help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Another way you can accomplish your scenario. Instead of deleting or archiving in beginning just move the file from inbound to archive location after business flow completion.
    In case of error, the file will remain at original position as moving operation is at the end.
    First read the file using read operation, then at the end create a file adapter with sync read operation. Change the entries in .jca generated with below sample.
    Sample jca file.
    <endpoint-interaction portType="SynchRead_ptt" operation="SynchRead">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileIoInteractionSpec">
    <!-- Below properties are dummy except Type , it will be changed in runtime -->
    <property name="SourcePhysicalDirectory"
    value="srcdir"/>
    <property name="SourceFileName" value="abc.txt"/>
    <property name="TargetPhysicalDirectory"
    value="targetdir"/>
    <property name="TargetFileName" value="abc.txt"/>
    <property name="Type" value="MOVE"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    Then,in you bpel flow at the invoke for sync read add these two properties.
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.SourceFileName"
    variable="varInputFileName"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.TargetFileName"
    variable="varArchiveFileName"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.SourceDirectory"
    variable="varInputDirectory"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.file.TargetDirectory"
    variable="varArchiveDirectory"/>
    - It is considered good etiquette to reward answerers with points (as "helpful" - 5 pts - or "correct" - 10pts).

  • Changing file name and directory structure for use outside of iPhoto

    Hi,
    I was wondering if its possible to get iPhoto to name the files from my library to reflect the names that I've given the files in iPhoto. I'm thinking along the lines of iTunes, where its possible to chose in the preferences how the files are named, and there is some logical directory structure, such as "Artist/Album/01 - Track 1.mp3". These file names are updated to reflect any changes made in iTunes.
    I've heard the argument that I shouldn't ever want to do anything with the files themselves because iPhoto can do everything I would ever want to do, but I want to organize the files so that not all of my organizational work is lost if I decide to stop using iPhoto and transition to a different system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    Adrian
    No it's not possible.
    You can rename the files before bringing them into iPhoto, you can rename them with the titles on Export (Use the File -> Export command, it gives you the option to use the title and filename) but when it's inside iPhoto you cannot rename the files.
    However, all is not entirely lost. Using Film Rolls (View -> Film Rolls) you can move pics between rolls, name rolls, create rolls and so on, as long as you do this in the iPhoto Window, and these changes will be reflected in the iPhoto Library Folder.
    If at some point you decide to chuck iPhoto then (if the new app won't read iPhoto database files) you can simply export each album you've created to a Folder (using the File -> Export command as I suggest above), this, along with exporting slideshows will preserve your organisational efforts.
    The iTunes database has a rather simple job to do: track a file and it's assorted metadata. iPhoto, on the other hand, tracks a file and it's assorted metadata, plus a Modified version, plus a thumbnail. If you consider what happens when you edit a pic, for instance - Copy Original, perform edit, save modified version, remove Original Thumbnail and then create new one - you can see it's a rather more complex job.
    Finally, the standard warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. Any changes you make must be made in the iPhoto Window.
    Need more info? by all means post again.

    A few points while creating ALERTS.
    <b>TESTING YOUR ALERT CONFIGURATIOn</b>
    go to <b>se37 --></b> and <b>execute the report RSALERTTEST</b>. GIve your ALERT CATEGORY in this report. If your ALERTS are configured properly, then your Alert would be triggered and you can see the entry in ALERT INBBOX.

  • Compiling files with nested directory structure

    I'm getting "resolve symbol" errors when I try to compile source files which
    are in the child directory whose dependent on files from it's parent
    directory. Here's my current directory structure:
    src
    -->a
    ---->b
    ------>util
    What I'm trying to do is compile files which are in the 'util' directory.
    Some of these files use some of the classes in the 'b' directory. My
    compile statement is the following:
    java -d class -classpath src src\a\b\util\aFile.java
    Files in the 'util' directory has a import a.b.* statement on top, but I
    don't think that's the problem, let alone necessary.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Files in the 'util' directory has a import a.b.*
    statement on top, but I
    don't think that's the problem, let alone necessary.You must import classes that you use if the classes are not in the same package. The classes in src\a\b should have a package statement as the first line of source code and I am guessing it should be "package a.b;" Likewise, the classes in src\a\b\util should have a "package a.b.util" line. It's hard to guess what you have in mind. If you have the package statements, then the classes in a.b.util can import a.b.whatever. This will work.

  • Date and Time in Sender File Adapter Target Directory

    Hi there,
    is there a way of using Date and Time from XI to the Target Directory naming? To use variable substitution some fields of the message had to contain that date and time information, which is not our case.
    For filename you can use "add time stamp" option, but and for target directory?
    Thanks and regards,
    Henrique.

    Hi there, Moorthy
    We've tried to write that shell script that you mentioned, but now we have a few doubts on how to make it create the proper directory.
    In the file adapter, my target directory is "/%var1%/%var2%/", where %var1% and %var2% are variable substitutions, referencing data which comes from the payload. Now, I need the shell script to append "/<Year>/<Month>/" in the target directory. But where to archive the script? If it stays in the root directory, than how to make it create "/<Year>/<Month>/" folders inside a directory which is variable (/%var1%/%var2%/)?
    Is there a way of passing %var1% and %var2% as parameters for the shell script?
    Thanks a lot,
    Henrique.

    Hi,
    The PI system is 7.11
    I've created sender file adapter with following details:

    I checked in AL11 that this path really exists and it does. (I can even see the .txt file that should be processed.)

    Actually, Need to use forward slash (/) to separate directory names in accordance with the Java specification.
    But wanted to try if that works..
    Also check directory name , path again as this is case sensitive...

  • File Adapter Source Directory

    I have set up a File Adapter comms channel that should be picking up a file from the XI SAP system directory path F:\usr\sap\temp.
    I place a file in that directory and can see it via SAP transx AL11.
    However my comms channel is not picking up the file so my process does not start.  I had previously been using a FTP File Adapter and that was working fine. So I know my other configuration is correct.  I now needed to testing something use just the plain File Adapter.
    The RunTime Cache has been refreshed and I can see my CC via SXI_CACHE.
    Here is what I have entered into the File Sender Adapter
    Transport Protocol : File
    Message Protocol : File
    Adapter Engine : Integration Server
    Source directory : F:\usr\sap\temp
    File Name         : MYFILE.XML
    Processing Options :
    QAS : EO
    Poll Interval 60s
    Processing Mode : Delete
    Processing Seq : By Name
    File Type : Binary
    Adapter Status : ACTIVE
