Compiling files with nested directory structure

I'm getting "resolve symbol" errors when I try to compile source files which
are in the child directory whose dependent on files from it's parent
directory. Here's my current directory structure:
src
-->a
---->b
------>util
What I'm trying to do is compile files which are in the 'util' directory.
Some of these files use some of the classes in the 'b' directory. My
compile statement is the following:
java -d class -classpath src src\a\b\util\aFile.java
Files in the 'util' directory has a import a.b.* statement on top, but I
don't think that's the problem, let alone necessary.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Files in the 'util' directory has a import a.b.*
statement on top, but I
don't think that's the problem, let alone necessary.You must import classes that you use if the classes are not in the same package. The classes in src\a\b should have a package statement as the first line of source code and I am guessing it should be "package a.b;" Likewise, the classes in src\a\b\util should have a "package a.b.util" line. It's hard to guess what you have in mind. If you have the package statements, then the classes in a.b.util can import a.b.whatever. This will work.

  • Building a war file with a folder structure

    How do a build a war file with a folder structure? I have code that creates JarEntrys and writes jar files and resource files etc. to the war. When I look at the war that gets created using winzip the path names for all the entries are correct and everything appears correct. When I try to deploy this to Tomcat nothing deploys. It appears my war is in a folder structure. How can a build this folder structure in the war? When I look at a good war using BeyondCompare I see folders and files in the folders just like I would see looking at a directory on my system. When I use BeyondCompare to view one of my "bad" war files that I have created everything is in the root. There are no folders and no folder structure. I am using the java.util.jar API to create the war but I don't see any methods or any API that will let me build up any sort of folder structure. It seems like I am missing something basic here.

    command is same for creating jar/war/ear.
    u simply need to execute jar /? for detail.

    Looks like very difficult and inform you mgmt about the drawbacks of running olderv ersions
    may be you can try something like this but i dont know whether it is supported or not
    db_file_name_convert=['/dev/vx/dsk/suportaldg/oracle3','/dev/vx/dsk/suportaldg/STDBY/oracle3']
    db_file_name_convert=['/dev/vx/dsk/suportaldg/oracle4','/dev/vx/dsk/suportaldg/STDBY/oracle4']

  • Using wlappc with split directory structure

    I am trying to generate an EAR file of my application using wlappc in WLS8.1sp3.
    I am using the split directory structure, I have a src directory containing my
    source and xml descriptors, and a output directory containing the compiled classes.
    I am using the split structure to deploy to the app server in development, that
    is working fine. I use wlcompile to compile the code, that works ok too.
    I assume that the purpose of wlappc would be to take a split directory structure
    and create an EAR file from it, but there is only one source directory that you
    can pass to the ant task. If I pass the src directory, it complains that it cannot
    find the classes. If I use the output directory, it complains that it cannot
    find the META-INF directory.
    Am I missing a step? Do I have to use wlpackage to put everything in one directory,
    then wlappc? Do I have to copy the class files or xml files manually first?

    I assume that the purpose of wlappc would be to take a split directory structure
    and create an EAR file from it, No, wlappc does J2EE code-generation and validation. For instance, it
    will do hundreds of checks against your EJBs to make sure they comply
    with the spec. It will compile your JSP files into servlets etc. You
    just need to pass wlappc the output directory. It will automatically
    find the src directory.
    When you're ready to deploy to a production or staging server, you can
    use wlpackage to put everything into one directory or an archived EAR file.

  • Organize iTunes file list by Directory Structure instead of artist/album?

    Hello, I have searched for different audio players for os x which might have this feature but so far have had no luck. What I'm looking for is a feature similar to that of foobar2000 for win32 where I can organize my music by directory structure without the iTunes automatic organization by artist/album. Is there a way I can accomplish this in iTunes with some sort of xml config or hidden options? Thanks.

    You don't have to have iTunes move music around on your hard drive (Preferences>Advanced>General, uncheck Keep iTunes Music folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library) but I suspect that's not what you're asking. You can't automatically view music from within iTunes by directory structure. iTunes organizes by ID3 tags ("mp3 tags"). You could, I suppose, spend a lot of time replicating your directory structure by using folders and playlists within iTunes but you'd probably have to do it all by hand.
    You could check out Doug's Scripts to see if there are some scripts that might help.

  • Changing file name and directory structure for use outside of iPhoto

    Hi,
    I was wondering if its possible to get iPhoto to name the files from my library to reflect the names that I've given the files in iPhoto. I'm thinking along the lines of iTunes, where its possible to chose in the preferences how the files are named, and there is some logical directory structure, such as "Artist/Album/01 - Track 1.mp3". These file names are updated to reflect any changes made in iTunes.
    I've heard the argument that I shouldn't ever want to do anything with the files themselves because iPhoto can do everything I would ever want to do, but I want to organize the files so that not all of my organizational work is lost if I decide to stop using iPhoto and transition to a different system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adrian

    Adrian
    No it's not possible.
    You can rename the files before bringing them into iPhoto, you can rename them with the titles on Export (Use the File -> Export command, it gives you the option to use the title and filename) but when it's inside iPhoto you cannot rename the files.
    However, all is not entirely lost. Using Film Rolls (View -> Film Rolls) you can move pics between rolls, name rolls, create rolls and so on, as long as you do this in the iPhoto Window, and these changes will be reflected in the iPhoto Library Folder.
    If at some point you decide to chuck iPhoto then (if the new app won't read iPhoto database files) you can simply export each album you've created to a Folder (using the File -> Export command as I suggest above), this, along with exporting slideshows will preserve your organisational efforts.
    The iTunes database has a rather simple job to do: track a file and it's assorted metadata. iPhoto, on the other hand, tracks a file and it's assorted metadata, plus a Modified version, plus a thumbnail. If you consider what happens when you edit a pic, for instance - Copy Original, perform edit, save modified version, remove Original Thumbnail and then create new one - you can see it's a rather more complex job.
    Finally, the standard warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss. Any changes you make must be made in the iPhoto Window.
    Need more info? by all means post again.

  • Compiling files with the 'package'-statement

    Hi,
    I have a problem compiling files that uses the 'package'-statement:
    I have 2 files ClassA.java and ClassB.java. ClassA uses objects of type ClassB. When I compile ClassA.java the compiler also automatically compiles ClassB.java. No problem so far.
    But when I add "package mypackage" to ClassA.java and ClassB.java and then try to compile ClassA.java with the command "javac -d . ClassA.java" I get the compile-error "Class mypackage.ClassB not found". This would mean that I would have to compile all my files separately?
    Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thx,
    Jan

    I was still working on it, but I think I have it now :-)
    Let me try to summarize what I think/hope that I understand:
    I have the following files in package mypackage:
    C:\src\mypackage\ClassA.java
    C:\src\mypackage\ClassB.java
    with ClassA using ClassB.
    I want to compile them into C:\classes\mypackage\ClassA.class and C:\classes\mypackage\ClassB.class
    I change directory to C:\classes and then give the command
    >javac -d . ..\src\mypackage\ClassA.java
    This didn't work at first because my classpath wasn't set correctly. To make it work I had to add C:\src to my classpath. Which surprised me a little because I thought that the classpath was only used to find *.class files and not by javac to find *.java files?
    If anybody has something to add to this, please feel free to do so.

  • Where to put simple html-file in WebLogic directory structure?

    After installing JDeveloper 11g and WebLogic 10.3 which came in the same exe-file (jdevstudio11110install.exe), I want to try WebLogic as a ordinary web server for a simple html-file. Where should the file be placed in WebLogics directory structure, and are there any settings that need to be done to get this to work?

    Thank you, Maxence -
    I made it work this way:
    - Entered the following in weblogic.xml for a simple dummy-servlet...
    (WebLogicServletTest-ProjectWebLogicServletTest-context-root)
    ... deployed to the WebLogic server:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <weblogic-web-app>
    <virtual-directory-mapping>
    <local-path>C:\WorkScratch\</local-path>
    <url-pattern>*.html</url-pattern>
    </virtual-directory-mapping>
    </weblogic-web-app>
    WebLogic served up the hoppla.html-file in the C:\WorkScratch directory with the following browser URL:

    If you are polling then there will be error message in log files.But i dont think we can do exception handling in such cases.

  • Enable AppXRay on a legacy project with unconventional directory structure

    I've got a legacy project. My first need is to do remote debugging of JSPs (application will be deployed on an app. server on a remote server).
    I imported the existing project into Eclipse/Workshop Studio. When I try to enable AppXRay it popups a Folder Mappings dialog and asks for a folder in the project that corresponds to the '/' URI.
    Here's what my directory structure looks like:
    project/
    --conf/
    ----web.xml
    --htdocs/
    ----index.jsp
    There is no WEB-INF/web.xml in the directory structure. The .war gets built by the Ant war command and just includes the web.xml from the conf/ dir.
    If I choose the conf/ dir or the htdocs/ dir I get a warning that information related to web.xml will be missing fron AppXRay.
    How do I get Workshop Studio to work in this situation?
    As part of the Ant build I can add directories to the existing structure that mimic the structure of the .war that gets deployed if that will make Workshop Studio happy, but I cannot modify the existing directory structure significantly.
    Thanks.
    Dean

    The WFM feature was implemented to support the project structure similar to yours.
    Try the following steps to configure the project in Studio:
    - The folder mapping for your project would be
    project/htdocs => "/"
    project/conf => "/WEB-INF"The "/" mapping will be your WebAppFolder (the folder containing web artifacts, like jsps, html...) and "/WEB-INF" would be the web configuration (containing web.xml and/or struts/jsf ... configuration filer).

  • Restoring Rman backup on New Host with different directory structure

    Hi,

    1. clone the database on new server

  • Getting file types in directory structure.

    I have a directory with 5000 files in it in 1000 folders. I
    need to parse through all these files and construct a list of file
    types (.jpg, .doc, .pdf etc) These types will be entered into a
    database table so we have a distinct list of file types that we
    have. I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion on the easiest way
    to accomplish this is. Obviously CFDIRECTORY comes to mind doing
    some crazy loops, but I started and was just thinking there might
    be a better/easier way to do this.
    Any suggestions?
    THANKS

    Yeah I got that part as far as parsing out the file type from
    the name that cfdirectory spits out. It's the recursion of the
    dierctories that I'm having problems with. If it was just one
    directory full of files this would be a snap but there are
    directories 3-4 levels deep. Just trying to figure out the best way
    to loop through the files in a directory but also loop through
    files in sub directories.

  • Is there a way (script option, exporter option) to export a .psd/.psb file with nested layersets to another layered .psd file with a flat layer structure for greater compatibility? (i.e. CS6/CC/CC '14 to CS4 or older?)

    Just looking for a solution short of having to go in and manually delve through hundreds of layers and reorganize the .psd.  There's a lot of vector elements, layer effects and blending modes as well.  It'd be nice to see Adobe include an exporter for older Photoshop versions that can take a newer file and regenerate it making whatever necessary changes to maintain compatibility across older Photoshop versions and even for cross-compatibility.  I know that's not necessarily in their best interests for additional sales, but it is in the end-user's best interests when they collaborate with others across various file and application formats.

    The first problem here is Layer Styles, if I understand what you are trying to do correctly. You can have arbitrarily nested Layer Sets/Groups (each with its own Layer Style) that contain Layers with their own Layer Styles. This means that for a nested layer, you would have to take it's Layer Style and merge it with the containing Group(s) layer styles in the correct order. Then you have to do the same thing with Layer/Vector Masks and whatever else is involved. It's a non-trivial piece of work. It's not intractable, however.
    There is also the problem that some parts of the Layer Styles are binary blobs that make merging at the JS level impossible.
    If someone has implemented this, I would love to see the implementation.
    What you actually need may be a lot less complicated than the general case. If so, you may be able to find someone to help you out.
    I wish you luck.

  • Create xml file with nested internla table or with header & item tables

    Hi I have a requirement like, I need to create an xml file for header and item details. For 1 header there may be multiple line items.
    I did search in forums some where I came to know that we can use XSL:IF to achieve this. but I could not able to do this.
    I tried with using nested internal tables also but now luck.
    can anybody please suggest how can we create xml for header and item detials.

    here belnr and wrbtr will be my item details. for each payment document I can have multiple invoices. in CDF I need to display the invoices for that particular payment document.
    what conditions can I put there before CDFs to make the item internal table to loop based on header internal table.

    Looks like you have already created the transformation "Z_ID"
    Take a look at the following thread, it answers many of the questions you have asked:
