Exception Handling : Memory Leak???

Hi all
I have a problem in my system.It use radius-ldap for authentication and insert accounting to Oracle DB.In accounting table,I put a trigger with using an exception handling to update or insert some data to other tables in Oracle schema and ldap schema.When error occured,exception would be handled but when it completed,trigger didn't not release all of connections between Oracle DB,radius and ldap.Many many TCP connections were established but not destroyed and my system spent all memory for these connections.This may be caused by exception handling.
Does any body have a same problem?How can I solve this?

    I'm doing a simple database connect with the JDBC Oracle 8.1.6 oci8 drivers on Solaris. It seems whenever I try to repeatedly connect to a database, and an exception is thrown, such as database not found, or wrong password, the program size grows and grows until it runs out of memory. I've narrowed it down to being the getConnection operation as the casue of this memory leak.
    Now, if I repeatedly connect successfully, there is no problem, it will run all day, but if there are exceptions thrown, memory leaks. Has anyone else encountered this?
    I'll paste a sample program below which shows the problem. Maybe someone can help???

  • Memory leak in Servlet Filter handling?

    In Sun Web Server 6.1, I'm finding a memory leak when using servlet filters. I've even created a "no op" servlet filter. When it's registered, every 10000 hits or so to filtered static content will eat up about 5 to 10 MB of RAM. The JVM heap size doesn't increase.
    When I remove the filter, I've hit the same static page on the server 50000 times without seeing an increase in memory usage by the process.
    This is on Windows 2000, and I think the Sun Web Server 6.1 is SP1. I haven't tried SP2 yet.
    For reference, here's the filter I put in:

    If I delete the entries, the memory leak goes away. I suppose this should get fixed by Sun sometime. Maybe I'll figure out how to officially report the bug later.

  • Pro*c multithreaded application has memory leak

    Hi there,
    I posted this message a week ago in OCI section, nobody answer me.
    I am really curious if my application has a bug or the pro*c has a bug.
    Anyone can compile the sample code and test it easily.
    I made multithreaded application which queries dynamic SQL, it works.
    But the memory leaks when i query the SQL statement.
    The more memory leaks, the more i query the SQL statement, even same SQL
    statement.
    I check it with top, shell command.
    My machine is SUN E450, Solaris 8. Oracle 9.2.0.1
    Compiler : gcc (GCC) 3.2.2
    I changed source code which is from
    $(ORACLE_HOME)/precomp/demo/proc/sample10.pc
    the sample10 doesn't need to be multithreaded. But i think it has to work
    correctly if i changed it to multithreaded application.

    I have to figure out the problem.

  • Memory Leak issue with TreeView

    Hi,
    I get Memory Leaks in the TreeView, if I open the stage which contains the TreeView several times.
    Everytime I open the stage, I clear the TreeView and populate it with new items.
    However there are leaks.
    I think this is a bug. But maybe my code is wrong and someone could comment on this issue.

  • Memory Leak In DataService

    Hi All,
          I had posted this query to couple of other groups ..I am still struglling with this issue..Hope someone  will  help me out here
          I have  very basic application which uses  DataSerives over RTMP channel  to populate dataGrid , I have not used any  user defined component.
    This application has got LOAD data and Remove data  Button just to simulate the actual application
    What happens , when I click on LOAD data , It  loads the data from server(JBOSS) then I Remove all the data and force the GC to run
    If I continuously keep loading and removing the  data ,  memory goes up every time and after some times It reaches to threshold and  finally crashes the Browser.
    In actual application as soon as user logs in a dedicated DS destination is created..

    Sorry for late reply.
          I tried your suggestion but It did not help to release memory. Actully,this app contains only one event handler which is for remote method call , I dont think this could cause any memory leak.
    Profiling session reveals that It is the issue of DataService class.I dont know How do I convince  Adobe to investigate this issue.

  • Memory leak in OCI while using AQ

    There seems to be a serious memory leak in the OCI driver (9.2.0.1) when using a JAVA client to dequeue a database queue (Advanced Queuing).
    Continuous dequeuing causes the heap memory to increase, and this memory never gets freed which leads me to suspect a memory leak in the OCI components (as the memory allocated for the JVM is constant). The heap memory increases by 3-4 MB after a dequeue of 1000 RAW messages,
    Has anyone come across this problem before and if so are there any solutions? Changing to a thin driver is not a solution for me due to other requirements.

    This sounds very similar to the memory leak I have in Oracle 9i using Pro*C++. Everytime a connect is made memory appears to leak and it only happens in multithreaded mode not default mode. There is a thread about this under the Oracle C++ call interface. Under 9i it appears to leak about 60K per connect rather than 60 bytes.

    In my classes using database queries I just
    use the prepareCall method of DBConnection
    and do not have to care about anything.
    Works perfectly with the thin driver, but

  • Custom MediaStreamSource and Memory Leaks During SampleRequested

    Greetings,
    I have a nasty memory leak problem that is causing me to pull my hair out.
    I'm implementing a custom MediaStreamSource along with MediaTranscoder to generate video to disk. The frame generation operation occurs in the SampleRequested handler (as in the MediaStreamSource example). No matter what I do - and I've tried a
    ton of options - inevitably the app runs out of memory after a couple hundred frames of HD video. Investigating, I see that indeed GC.GetTotalMemory reports an increasing, and never decreasing, amount of allocated RAM. 
    The frame generator in my actual app is using RenderTargetBitmap to get screen captures, and is handing the buffer to MediaStreamSample.CreateFromBuffer(). However, as you can see in the example below, the issue occurs even with a dumb allocation
    of RAM and no other actual logic. Here's the code:

    It usually fails around frame 357, with GC.GetTotalMemory() reporting 750MB allocated.
    I've tried tons of work-arounds, none of which made a difference. I tried putting the code that allocates the bytes in a separate thread - no dice.  I tried Task.Delay to give the GC a chance to work, on the assumption that it just had no time
    to do its job. No luck.
    As another experiment, I wanted to see if the problem went away if I allocated memory each frame, but never assigned it to the MediaStreamSample, instead giving the sample (constant) dummy data. Indeed, in that scenario, memory consumption stayed
    constant. However, while I never get an out-of-memory exception, RequestSample just stops getting called around frame 1600 and as a result the transcode operation never actually returns to completion.
    I also tried taking a cue from the SDK sample which uses C++ entirely to generate the frame. So I passed the buffer as a Platform::Array<BYTE> to a static Runtime extension class function I wrote in C++.
    I won't bore you with the C++ code, but even directly copying the bytes of the array to the media sample using memcpy still had the same result! It seems that there is no way to communicate the contents of the byte[] array to the media sample without
    it never being released.
    I know what some will say: the difference between my code and the SDK sample, of course, is that the SDK sample generates the frame _entirely_ in C++, thus taking care of its own memory allocation and deallocation. Because I want to get
    the data from RenderTargetBitmap, this isn't an option for me. (As a side note, if anyone knows if there's a way to get the contents of an RT Window using DirectX, that might work too, but I know this is not a C++ forum, so...). But more importantly,
    MediaStreamSource and MediaStreamSample are managed classes that appear to allow you to generate custom frames using C# or other managed code. The MediaStreamSample.CreateFromBuffer function appears to be tailored for exactly what I want. But there appears
    to be no way to release the buffer when giving the bytes to the MediaStreamSample. At least none that I can find.
    I know the RT version of these classes are new to Windows 8.1, but I did see other posts going back 3 years discussing a similar issue in Silverlight. That never appears to have been resolved.
    I guess the question boils down to this: how do I safely get managed data, allocated during the SampleRequested handler, to the MediaStreamSample without causing a memory leak? Also, why would the SampleRequested handler just stop getting called
    out of the blue, even when I artificially eliminate the memory leak problem?

    Thanks for your quick reply and for clarifying the terminology. 
    In the Memory Usage test under Analyze/Performance and Diagnostics (is that what you mean?) it's clear that each frame of video being created is not released from memory except when memory consumption gets very high. GC will occasionally kick in, but eventually
    it succumbs.
    Interestingly, if I reduce the frame size substantially, say 320x240, it never runs out of RAM no matter how many frames I throw at it. The Memory Usage test, however, shows the same pattern. But this time the GC can keep up and release the RAM.
    After playing with this ad nauseum,  I am fairly convinced I know what the problem is, but the solution still escapes me. It appears that the Transcoder is requesting frames from the MediaStreamSource (and the MediaStreamSource is providing them via
    my SampleRequested handler) faster than the Transcoder can write them to disk and release them. Why would this be happening? The MediaStreamSource.BufferTime property is - I thought - used to prevent this very problem. However, changing the BufferTime seems
    to have no effect at all - even changing it to ZERO doesn't change anything. If I'm right, this would explain why the GC can't do its job - it can't release the buffers I'm giving to the Transcoder via SampleRequested because the Transcoder won't give them
    up until it's finished transcoding and writing them to disk. And yet the transcoder keeps requesting samples until there's no more memory to create them with.
    The following code, which I made from scratch to illustrate my scenario, should be air-tight according to everything I've read. And yet, it still runs out of memory when the frame size is too large. 
    If you or anyone else can spot the problem in this code, I'd be thrilled to hear it. Maybe I'm omitting a key step with regard to getting the deferral? Or maybe it's a bug in the back-end? Can I "slow down" the transcoder and force it to release samples
    it's already used?

    Again, I can't see any reason why this shouldn't work. You'll note it mirrors pretty closely the sample in the Windows 8.1 Apps With Xaml Unleashed book (Chapter 14). The difference is I'm feeding the samples to a transcoder rather than a MediaElement (which,

    There has been quite a few changes due to the new server. New compiler (gcc) from version 2.96 to 4.1.2, new version of oracle client 10g to 11g (11.2.0.2), new version of OCCI (also 11.2.0.2). The applications sourcecode is pretty much unchanged though, and that is why I turn to all of you for help.
    Is there anyone who knows anything about this problem and how to even start to fix this leak (if it even is in OCCI)?
    I can supply sourcecode and/or logs if needed. It is quite a lot of complex code so it might take me a while to sort out the relevant code though...

    I have stripped down the code to just the basic functions needed to replicate the problem. The pool creation and connections are the same as in our application (which is unchanged since before the porting). Though the following code makes no indications of a leak when run through Valgrind, it still grows when checked in "top". It could be that I stripped the code too much, but this is pretty much what our application does. It creates a database lock (not in this code), creates connection, (read table), terminates connection and release lock every 6 seconds to check if there is any new assignments added...

  • Potential Memory Leak during Marshelling of a Web Service Response

    I believe I have found a memory leak when using the configuration below.
    The memory leak occurs when calling a web service. When the web service function is marshelling the response of the function call, an "500 Internal Server Error ... java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" is returned from OC4J. This error may be seen via the TCP Packet Monitor in JDeveloper.
    Unfortunately no exception dump is outputted to the OC4J log.
    Configuration:
    Windows 2000 with 1 gig ram
    JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 with JAX/RPC extension installed
    OC4J 10.0.3
    Sun JVM version 1.4.2_03-b02
    To demonstrate the error I created a simple web service and client. See below the client and web service function that demonstrates it.
    The web service is made up of a single function called "queryTestOutput".
    It returns an object of class "TestOutputQueryResult" which contains an int and an array.
    The function call accepts a one int input parameter which is used to vary the size of array in the returned object.
    For small int (less than 100). Web service function returns successfully.
    For larger int and depending on the size of memory configuration when OC4J is launched,
    the OutOfMemoryError is returned.
    The package "ws_issue.service" contains the web service.
    I used the Generate JAX-RPC proxy to build the client (found in package "ws_issue.client"). Package "types" was
    also created by Generate JAX-RPC proxy.
    To test the web service call execute the class runClient. Vary the int "atestValue" until error is returned.
    I have tried this with all three encodings: RPC/Encoded, RPC/Literal, Document/Literal. They have the
    same issue.
    The OutOfMemory Error is raised fairly consistently using the java settings -Xms386m -Xmx386m for OC4J when 750 is specified for the input parameter.
    I also noticed that when 600 is specified, the client seems to hang. According to the TCP Packet Monitor,
    the response is returned. But, the client seems unable to unmarshal the message.

    I use web services a lot and I sympathize with your issue. I
    struggle with similar issues and I found this great utility that
    will help you confirm if your webservice is returning the data
    correctly to Flex. I know you said it works in other applications
    but who knows if flex is calling it correctly etc. This utility is
    been the most amazing tool in helping me resolve web service
    issues.

    Once you can confirm the data being returned is good you can
    try several things in flex. Try changing your result format to
    object or e4x etc. See how that plays out. Not sure where your
    tapping in to look at your debugger, you might want to catch it
    right at the result handler before converting to any collections. .

    I have written a small C++ code which will load a JDBC Driver and connect to the database.
    The code initially Loads the JVM & than connects to the Database.
    When i tested the code with Boundscheket I found a conciderable amount of memory leak & all of these are shown in jvm.dll, zip.dll & java.dll. Is this OK? Are there memory leaks in JNI?

  • Memory Leak w/ WebLogic 5.1

    I've created a simple servlet to EJB skeleton and built a stress testing
              tool to make sequential requests to the servlet which in turn creates an
              instance of a stateless session been. Both the servlet and bean do not have
              any real logic in them, just some minimal timing output.
              When run for a few million iterations, the WebLogic JVM slowly leaks memory
              that cannot be reclaimed even with force garbage collection from the

  • Problem: memory leak ?

    Hello,
    I've created a swing program with internalframes. each internalframes has many objects
    and uses a lot of memory. Each time a frame is closed i call disopse on it and i am 'sure'
    that there are no more references to the internalframe.
    So logically, i can open lots of iframes and close them all. The the memory usage bij java.exe
    shoudl be teh same. But that is not the case. I saw garbage collects only frees memmory to
    the JVM. But how do i know whether the objects are freed or not.
    Should'nt the memory usage decrease when i close all the opened iframes????
    The question: How do i know for sure if i do not have any references to an iframe so that the iframe can be collected by the garbage collector? The memory of the program keeps growing and growing if i open 10 frames, close all the frames and then do that all over again.

    we had major problems with Swing components leaking memory.
    Since Swing components have internal references to the child components, one container could
    be leaking lots of memory.
    NB : you must explicitely remove all listeners too, action listeners, mouse listeners etc.
    Below is a very handy piece of code I wrote to explicitely remove all child components from an initial container. It's depth first recursive, and it certainly done wonders for us.

  • Memory leak via object input stream (yes I'm resetting)

    I am seeing that my system is piling up char[] (according to netbeans profiler tool). I am running JDK 1.5 on linux, the client and server code look like this. The strings are piling up on the client side only. the allocation tree looks like this:

    I do have another memory leak in the system, what I am trying to determine from this post is if the way I am using read and write object may be contributing to that leak. I was hoping someone would be able to look at the communication code and let me know if I'm properly reseting the streams. Then at the very least I can rule this code out as the problem location and continue tracing the use of the read strings throughout the code.
