Exception while testing for Fail over

Hi
I have the web tier architecture away from cluster. All ejbs are in cluster
running in two seperate machines say server1 and server2 . We have a
          factory class running in
webtier(we use servlet in this tier) which obtains home interface only once
and stores it for future reference. When ever we need the remoteobject stub,
we ask the factory class and which in turn uses the stored home interface to
          get the same.
In the webtier, I list all the servers in the cluster as a part of url as
          t3://server1,server2:8000
I started the web tier as well as Object tier cluster. I could see the
request coming in both the machines in the cluster for the ejb. But When I
bring down one the server say server1 in the cluster, I get the following
          exception.
          java.lang.NullPointerException

You're not giving us much to go on, you know.
There's code that results in this exception.
There's a full stack trace somewhere.
What does your client look like?
How was it generated?
Which particular framework are you using (Axis? JWS? Something else?)...

  • Support for fail over/clustering?

Is there any support for fail over/clustering Oracle on a two-node Linux cluster? Is it even possible to run Oracle on a two-node Linux cluster?

To add more, I'm unsure whether an HA product is even needed once Oracle Releases Parallel Server. Also, is it possible to run Oracle w/o Parallel Server on a cluster? If so, what does that buy you?

  • Replicating router partitions for Fail/Over ?

    Hi everyone,
Is it really worth the value to replicate a router partition on the same
    node ?
In other words, has anyone ever seen a router partition failing on its
    own (eg due
to an out of memory), ie not because of the node failure ?
What I am looking for is to avoid wasting system resources for unneeded
    replicates.
    Thanks.

You will use Active/Standby failover method to keep your fail-over configuration in secondary firewall (PIX).
Active/Standby Failover lets you use a standby security appliance to take over the functionality of a failed unit. When the active unit fails, it changes to the standby state while the standby unit changes to the active state. The unit that becomes active assumes the IP addresses (or, for a transparent firewall, the management IP address) and MAC addresses of the failed unit and begins to pass traffic. The unit that is now in standby state takes over the standby IP addresses and MAC addresses. Because network devices see no change in the MAC to IP address pairing, no ARP entries change or time out anywhere on the network. PIX Security Appliance with 7.x version and above supports failover.

    NewState Value
    Description
    FSM_FT_STATE_INIT
The initial state. Visible only when the configuration for the FT group exists but it is not in service.
    FSM_FT_STATE_ELECT
After you enter the inservice command when you are configuring an FT group, the ACE enters the ELECT state. The redundancy state machine negotiates with its peer context in the FT group to determine the redundancy role (active or standby)
    FSM_FT_STATE_ACTIVE
The active member of the FT group.
    FSM_FT_STATE_STANDBY_COLD
This state can be entered if:
•FT VLAN is down but the peer device is still alive.
•Configuration or application state synchronization failure have occurred.
    FSM_FT_STATE_STANDBY_CONFIG
The standby context is waiting to receive configuration information. Upon entering this state, the active context will be notified to send a copy of the running configuration.
    FSM_FT_STATE_STANDBY_BULK
The standby context is waiting to receive state information. Upon entering this state, the active context will be notified to send a copy of the current states information for all applications.

  • Exception while testing proxy service in Oracle Service Bus

    Hi
I have created a cartridge in the Financial Message Designer with a Universal External message format and a XML External message format and also included the mappings in the same cartridge.A proxy service in Oracle Service Bus10Rg3 is configured to parse and transform the messages based on the mappings using the Java Callout actions to the Financial jar API's. However, when i test the proxy service, I am getting the following exception:
Callout to java method "public static com.bea.alsb.financial.api.MessageWrapper com.bea.alsb.financial.api.TransformationAPI.transform(com.bea.alsb.financial.api.MessageWrapper,java.lang.String) throws com.bea.alsb.financial.api.TransformationException" resulted in exception: com.bea.alsb.financial.api.MessageWrapper$NullMessageDataObjectException: Null message data object in the MessageWrapper
The first java callout is to the parseText method of ParseAPI and the result i.e. the message wrapper object is saved in the variable $txtMessage. This variable is passed as input to the transform method of TransformationAPI.This is where the null pointer exception is thrown. I have added alerts after the parse method and logged the value of the variable $txtMessage. It contains the java object reference but still the Transformation API throws null pointer exception.
I have tested the same java callouts by writing a simple class calling each of these methods in the same order in Eclipse and provided the same input parameters. It works fine there. But in OSB, there seems to be some configuration issue which I am missing out on that leads to the null pointer exception.
Has someone faced this earlier? Can you please help out.

Any luck finding an answer? I have the same stack trace showing up while accessing a webservice in Weblogic 10.3.5.

Babu, the PeerGoneException is wrapper for just about any failure on the t3 transport or remote JVM. Try the following:
Turn on t3/RMI debugging on the WLS server (using the console: server->debug) or try adding the some of the RMI and and General debug parameters listed here:
    http://dev2dev.bea.com/blog/hoos/archive/2007/01/weblogic_server.html
    And post your log here.
Also my PGE was down to missing security principles on the remote JVM:

    Hi,
I could see the userID/password is wrong in the adapter,
you can chnage that one by following:
    em/-->
Cluster topology-->home 0c4j - >Applications ->stand alone Resource adapter (in View of the Drop down combo)
choose the adapter ->JMS Adapter ->connection factories -->eis/Jms/QueueConnectionFactory-change the password to your password(SOA)
    and try the same....

  • WLC 4400 and 5500 Fail-over

Can we do the same thing with WCL 4400 and 5500 series for failover? We have 1 existing 4400 WLC and we wanted to purchase another 1 for fail-over as well as backup. But right now, 4400 is EOL already. The only option is to have the 5500 WLC.
So if you do have previous set-up like this, so I would need your inputs.. Otherwise, same as usual, will gonna test to work this out.

You can have both in a primary and backup, but make sure they are on the same code version. I'm assuming that you also have the configuration correct for the two wlc to communicate.
I would put them both on the 7.0.220.0.

  • Fail over is not happening in Weblogic JSP Server

    Hi..
We have 6 Weblogic instances running as application server (EJB) and 4 Weblogic
instances running as web server (JSP). We have configured one cluster for EJB
servers and one cluster for JSP servers. In front-end we are using four Apache
servers to proxy the request to Weblogic JSP cluster. In my httpd.conf file I
have configured with the Weblogic cluster. I can see the requests are going in
all the servers and believe the cluster is working fine in terms of load balancing
(round-robin). The clients are accessing the servers using CSS (Cisco Load Balancer).
But when we test the fail-over in the cluster, we are facing problems. Let me
explain the scenarios of the fail-over test:
    1.     The load was generated by the Load Generator
    2.     When the load is there, we shut down one Apache server, even though there was
some failed transaction, immedialty the servers become stable. So fail-over is
    happening in this stage.
    3.     When I shutdown one EJB instance, again after some failed transactions, the
    transactions become stable
    4.     But, when I shutdown one JSP instance, immediately the transaction failed and
it is not able to fail over to another JSP server and the number of failed transactions
    increased.
So I guess, there is some problem in the proxy plug-in configuration, so that
when I shutdown one JSP server, still the requests are being send to the JSP server
    by the Apache proxy plug-in.
I have read various queries posted in the News Groups and found some information
about configuring session and cookie information in the Weblogic.xml file. Also
I’m not sure what are all the configurations needs to be done in the Weblogic.xml
and httpd.conf file. Kindly help me to resolve the problem. I would appreciate
    your response.
