Nice try, but it's not <code> tags. Use square brackets.
This is a wonderful example of how not to write Java, in particular JDBC code. Empty catch blocks are especially foolish. You'll never know if errors occur. Why not print the stack trace?
Is there a question in our future here?

  • Regarding the connection pool Error

    Hi All,
    I am using weblogic10.3. While starting the server we are able to see the below exceptions in the logs which was causing the server to failed state ,even we resume the
    server,the server will come to running state but the instance will not be there in the connection pool monitoring tab .once we restart the server again,its working.
    can you please let me know why we are getting these errors and any help to remove these.

    Hi,
    Looks like the Database URL may not be correct or may be the TNS name OR some n/w issue between WLS BOX and the DB Box. Please try the following to Double Check it.
    <font color=red><b>Test Number-1</b></font><BR>
    <font color=maroon><b>Step1).</b></font> Add JDBC Driver also in the Classpath or Better run *"setWLSEnv.sh"*
    <font color=maroon><b>Step2).</b></font> Use WLS DB Ping utility:
    Syntax:
    java -classpath /bea103/wl_server103/server/lib/weblogic.jar utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN <dbUserName> <dbPasswoes> <dbURL>
    Example:
    java -classpath /bea103/wl_server103/server/lib/weblogic.jar utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN scott tiger databaseHostName:1521:P15215h
    <font color=red><b>Test Number-2</b></font>
    Please run the Following Program from your WLS Server Box:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class TestConnection
    public static void main(String ar[]) throws Exception
    System.out.println("\n\t Database URL: "+ar[0]);
    System.out.println("\n\t Database UserName: "+ar[1]);
    System.out.println("\n\t Database Password: "+ar[2]);
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    System.out.println("\n\t Driver Class Registered and Loaded Successfully...");
    System.out.println("\n\n\n\t Trying to Connect to Database....");
    Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection(ar[0],ar[1],ar[2]);
    System.out.println("\n\n\n\t CONNECTED TO DATABASE SUCCESSFULLY");
    To RUN:
    java -classpath /opt/app/yourOracelDriverLocation/ojdbc6.jar:.: TestConnection oracelJdbcURL Oracleusername Oraclepassword
    if above fails to connect to DataBase ...it simply means Connectivity issue with your database friom the WebLogic Box.

  • JDBC says: "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"

    Hi all! I'm trying to run a servlet that does SQL queries, but I keep getting a "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" SQL exception on the connection attempt. Code follows.
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class InterpreteSQL extends HttpServlet
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException
              try
                   Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
                   Connection connection=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@labdb.dsi.unive.it:1521:lab","[my account here]","[my password here]");
                   Statement statement=connection.createStatement();
                   ResultSet res=statement.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM TabellaProva");
                   stampaResultSet(res,response.getWriter());
              catch (Exception e)
                   response.getWriter().println(e.toString());
    // stampaResultSet method here, which would just print the result set.
    Of course, the bits in brackets have the actual account and password in the code. ;)
    If I make a standalone program with the same code, it works fine. I'm using Tomcat 4.0.3 on a Windows 98 machine. The machine is not directly connected to the internet, but through a router. There's a firewall but it isn't blocking the program. Since the standalone version works, I suppose it's a Tomcat configuration issue.
    Can anyone help?

    I too had the same problem
    Check out for the related services. It must be running.
    One way to know about is try using SQL+ and execute some query.Thats it.

  • Failure-Io Exception:The network adapter could not establish the connection

    Hi,
    I am new to sql developer and need help regarding establishing connection in my PC.
    I gave the following details for establishing connection.
    Connection Name: DB
    Username: myDB
    passwd: xxxxx
    Role: Default
    Connection Type: Basic
    Host Name: localhost
    Port: 1521
    SID: xe
    When I tested the connection the following error occured:
    Failure -Io Exception: The network adapter could not establish the connection
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in advance.

    Some information showing:
    How to check if there is something listening on a machine/port (there are also port scanners like nmap)
    first a success: ctrl - ] typed in by me.
    $ telnet localhost 1521
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    Connected to localhost.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    ^]
    telnet> quit
    Connection closed.
    then a fail:
    $ telnet localhost 1522
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
    $
    Oracle also has tools to get the status of the 'listener' which is listening on the port, including database names for example 'lsnrctl stat' but it may have too many dependencies and privileges required to go into here.
    If you do not have XE, you can install it with very few restrictions.

  • Failure-lo exception:The network adapter could not establish the connection

    Hi All,
    any one can assist me .
    I installed latest SQL developer in my home laptop
    I am trying to connect using my SQL developer using my database UN and PW.
    It is giving the following error message
    Failure-lo exception:The network adapter could not establish the connection
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    THis error usually means there is no network path to the database host, or there is a firewall in the way.
    What details are you using in the connection definition?
    Where is the database - on the same machine or on another machine?

  • Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

    Hi All,
    I run tomcat and connect to Oracle fine, both on the same machine.
    I also run some batch processes daily and they often run without problems. The batch processes lots of selects and updates/inserts onto Oracle.
    These tend to work fine, but sometimes when they run I get
    java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    So a batch process will be running doing lots of selects and updates then it just decides it had enough and throws this error each time it tries to connect. Meanwhile tomcat continues to run fine through the same TNS listener, but subsequent batch jobs fail to connect.I normally have to restart the TNS Listener.
    I connect through the same class whether connecting through Tomcat or from the batch process with this:
    public static Connection getConnection(String caller) throws SQLException{
    try{
    Connection con;
    if (standalone){
    try{Class.forName(driver);}catch(ClassNotFoundException e){}
    con=DriverManager.getConnection(url,user,password);
    return con;
    }else{
    if (ds==null)initialiseContext();
    con=ds.getConnection();
    return con;
    }catch(SQLException e){
    ds=null;
    logger.debug("Problem in DBAccess.getConnection()...");
    logger.debug(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    throw e;
    I specifiy params such as MaxIdle with Tomcat using the xml config but not when its standalone - could this be affecting it?
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

    * Yep I get the same on the dev box.
    * I am definitely closing all the connections, I keep a close watch on that.
    Oracle should be able to handle lots of connections no problem, I agree, and it is through tomcat.
    Yet the exception that you get says that it isn't. Oracle, for example, on a single box shouldn't be able to handle 100,000 simultaneous connections.
    I would be very surprised if it couldn't handle 1,000. And if there was an issue at that point it would be a resource bound issue, like CPU (on the single box) rather than connections.
    You suggested licensing issues?I believe at one time, not necessarily now, the Oracle server would be sold such that it limited the number of simultenous connections. This could have been a relatively low number. There are quite a few assumptions in that - the major one would be it is based on my faulty memory and second would be that it was years ago.
    By the way you are not running this on a unix variant system without redoing the kernel limits to set up for a server system right?

    When opening a form in SharePoint 12013 that was created from Infopath 2013, I get the following error.

    I am guessing this has something to do with the UDCX connection and the database.
    Can anyone help me get this fixed?

    Hi Jim,
    Please check the following kb article when it occurs 5566errro with the UDCX conection file, try the method of using the Secure Store Service to store alternate credentials for the data connection method, or the method of stating the credentials

    Also check if it could help with setting sql server as "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode".

  • How to Troubleshoot the Connection Pool Exception?

    Dear Oracle Gurus, very good afternoon to you.
    I'm looking forward for some tips/troubleshoting guide to escape from the below exception, that occres very frequently to one of application that 100+ users will login from different locations & work on and update the data and save their work, where all in sudden they can't acces the application and it gets down.
    Most of the times in the server log I observed below.
    weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool RemoteDesktop.main to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
    Please help me on, how to overcome this kind of exception.
    In Weblogi c server I see below kind of Warnings.
    If you set the buffer size to zero in a servlet, it would fail to respond and would initiate an infinite loop in the server. WebLogic Server would ultimately display a Errors:
    ExecuteThread: '157' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "633" seconds working on the request "Http Request: : ../updates/process_manager.jsp", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.
    I searched over google for this kind of error, See otherusers posted the same kind of errors but didn't have any positive replies to troubleshoot this issue.
    I also got Oracle Dev link on Weblogic version upgrade product where they fixed similar kind of error it seems. Which is shown below.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs61/notes/bugfixes2.html -- BUG # CR106186

    This problem was solved with a code fix.
    Looking forward for some help, Thank you inadvance.
    FYI..
    I'm using oracle thin driver JDBC connection/Weblogic 8.1
    Edited by: user1072948 on Apr 26, 2012 11:55 AM

    I agree that looking into the number of connections that you have open when you see
    weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool RemoteDesktop.main to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
    would be a good idea; but I would suggest that you don't increase without thinking about the consequences. I would look more closely at what the connections to the database are doing, for instance, how long are the connection being left open for? What are the queries that are being run? Should you expect to see all the connections in the connection pool being used? What is the current connection pool limit? Are you simply going to increase the number of connections to find that they are also waiting? What is the load on the database at the time?
    It's the other error that you say you see
    ExecuteThread: '157' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default' has been busy for "633" seconds working on the request "Http Request: : ../updates/process_manager.jsp", which is more than the configured time (StuckThreadMaxTime) of "600" seconds.
    What does this JSP do? Why would this be busy for so long? Is it related to the previous exception that you have? I'd ask you delevelopment team to look into this.
    In short, it sounds like you have load issues on your server(s) and a careful tuning of the system after a full analysis (thread dumps, heap profiling, connection pool monitoring and code review) would probably be beneficial. It may be that restricting the thread pool may help, it may be that increasing the connection pool would help. I'd not plump for a quick fix here.

    I'm running 64-bit Windows XP Pro. Is that possibly an issue? I can ping the server. I am going to go now and install Oracle client software, to see whether I can tnsping and then connect from that.
    The remote listener is up and running. I did check that.
    What else might be the problem?

    Kris,
    I don't mind having to re-key connections between versions of Raptor, but if Raptor is going to save a connection that worked when I entered it, I expect that connection to work when I restart Raptor.
    If you can't save a connection with just the TNS Alias, at least save it as something that works - convert it to the basic format.
    Having said that - I would certainly prefer the connection to be saved as the TNS Alias if it could be. We have in the past had cases where we have modified the SID or Listener Port behind a TNS Alias to reduce downtimes during upgrades. With a centralised TNS Names file (which we have), there is only one place to update - if we are saving the full details behind the connection on every developer's PC, there is then a lot of additional places where the details need to be changed.

    Message "Loading prodrigu's library" and then "Could not connect to prodrigu's library".
    I had this same problem when I installed the REMOTE application on my ipad.  Everything on the list was affirmative, but had the same problem not being able to connect to my iTunes.
    What is missing?  Is there a firewall setting that could be causing this?

    I don't mean to be facetious but sometimes the simplest things are overlooked.  To connect to your library you have to have the computer where the iTunes library is located running and with iTunes open.  It also needs to be on the same network.  My network is dual band and works with either stream but a friend of mine does not.  He has to set the computer and the Apple TV to the same band.  Hope this helps.
