Exchange 2010 EWS - app_global.asax-error.
Im setting up an Exchange Online deployment on a costumers server enviroment. They have a single Exchange 2010 SP3 with Rollup 6 installed.
The users started complaining that they couldnt set out-of-office messages in Outlook, and that they were prompted for Exchange password in Lync repeatedly.
Now, im not sure if these errors came because of the Hybrid setup of its a coincidence, but here is what Ive done:
I started the Hybrid Wizard, but this one got some errors, so it didnt complete on the first run. The error was the following:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2626696
and I ran
ServiceModelReg.exe –r
on the server to fix it. This solved this problem, but a new one occurred with publishing of Autodiscover and EWS online. I called it a day, and was busy the next day so this was left like this for a few days.
The next day a few users complained that they couldnt set out of office. The next day after that, the lync error occured (there was a reboot that night. Im not sure if thats relevat). The errors in the Hybrid-wizard had then been solved, and the Hybrid-wizard
ran through, but the EWS-problem remained.
Now, on the server I get this error every second or so:

Hi,
I am glad to hear that issue solved by yourself.
Event 3 indicated that Exchange missed Anonymous authentication on autodiscover/EWS Virtual directories.
To solve this issue, please enable Anonymous authentication on autodiscover/EWS Virtual directories through IIS manager by the following steps:
Open IIS manager.
Navigate to Sites>Default Web Site>Autodiscover.
Refer to the following picture to choose Authentication, then double-click it. Try to enable Anonymous Authentication.
Repeat steps 1-3 to enable Anonymous authentication on EWS.
Best Regards.

Exchange 2010 EMC and EMS errors - BLOCKED by software restriction
EMC has this message:
Initialization failed "Execution calling 'GetSteppablePipeline" with "1" arguement: File D:\program files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\RemoteScripts\ConsoleInitialize.ps1 cannot be loaded because its execution is blocked
by software restriction policies"
EMS has this error:
"There were errors in loading the format data file: D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange 2010\V14\Bin\exchange.format.ps1x
ml, , D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange 2010\V14\Bin\exchange.format.ps1xml : File skipped because of the following validation exception: File D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange 2010\V14\Bin\exchange.format.ps1xml cannot be loaded because its execution is
blocked by software restriction policies. For more information, contact your system administrator."
All other powershell scripts work just fine. It is not the execution policy. That is set properly. Authenticode returns valid on the files. There are no settings it GPO to control or cause this. Email working fine. It just started
after a reboot for updates. Any other thoughts before I spend $500 for a call?
Server2008 Standard SP2
Update Rollup 4 v2 for Exchange Server 2010 SP2
Thank youThe long and short of it was Microsoft Certificates didn't update and were expired. I was not given a reason why this happened but the final solution after Microsoft spent 2 weeks on this was to first reinstall Exchange Service Pack 3, reboot. Install
update rollup 8, and reboot. This fixed the EMC but not the shell. Then they reinstalled the rollup 8 again and one more reboot. Everything now works. I'd say with all the other little tweaks they looked at as possible suspect and "other
things" they fixed in their efforts to solve this, I defiantly got my money's worth. Despite not really knowing what really caused the issue in the first place -
Exchange 2010 cross subnet Dag - Errors creating DB copies in DR site
We are running exchange 2010 standard edition in our main site with 2 mailbox servers in a DAG. I've added 2 more mailbox servers in a DR site connecting over a 20Mb fiber connection. I've tried adding one of the DR mailbox servers over to the DAG as database
server, also tried updating copies of the database after it fails to update it. Been working with Microsoft support on this but they have been little slow getting back with me so wanted to see if I can find anyone that has had this issue before. We've
changed TCP global settings, they've set the Cluster setting for samesubnet and crosssubnet threshholds settings to recommended, made sure my DAG replication networks were correct and that's about it so far. Tried running the update database
from GUI and shell but to no avail. Seems like it is copying the logs and database but fails at the very end. We thought it might be backup software running so we turned that off completely. Here are the different error messages I get..
A source-side operation failed while performing seed operation. error occurred whil communicating with mbx-01 (source server..) unable to read data from transport connection.. connected host failed to respond..
A source side operation failed performing seed operation. An I/O error occurred while attempting to access file ..CatalogData-...ci on source server could not be opened. sys cannot find file.
Information Store (1988) Mailbox-MBX-01: The internal database copy (for seeding or analysis purposes) has been stopped because it was halted by the client or because the connection with the client failed.
Any help is appreciated..
Michael DuhonHello,
I recommend you try to restart Microsoft Exchange Replication Service to check the result.
If the issue persists, please try to rebuild the Index for your database to check the result.

Exchange 2010 sp2 emc initialization error using "kerberos" authentication failed
We use exchange 2010 SP2.
We have 2 management stations, both w2k8 R2 SP1.
I have one mangement station on which the emc and ems works ok.
On the other management staiton (which is also in another ad site) the emc and ems don't work.
I get the following error message : The attempt to connect to
http://fqdnCasServer/PowerShell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : Access is denied. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
I have checked the time on the management station and on the exchange server and this is ok.
It is not a permissions issue because the user functions ok on the other management station.
On the bad management station I can open the emc once and after a minute I get an error message and the message access denied. From then on I can't connect any more.
What am I doing wrong?
Anyone any tips?
Thanks,
JBThis is what I get in the eventlog of the bad management station.

Exchange 2010 - EWS and disabling TLS 1.0
Hi all,
Due to the POODLE vulnerability and TLS 1.0 showing as enabled on one of our external scans, we were informed that we would need to disable SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 on our Exchange server.
Apparently, this wouldn't even be possible until Update Rollup 9 was released on 3/16/15:
Rollup resolves:
KB 3029667 SMTP is not transported over TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 protocol in an Exchange Server 2010 environment
After installing this update, SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 were disabled and the servers rebooted (cross site, same domain, two Exchange servers). After resolving some issues with certificates that apparently broke as a result of the changes, we found
that EWS was not working - the log full of these errors:
Process 5776: ProxyWebRequest CrossSite from S-1-5-21-3895483984-2032760896-3917300074-1259 to
https://mail.exchange.com:443/ews/exchange.asmx failed. Caller SIDs: NetworkCredentials. The exception returned is Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.ProxyWebRequestProcessingException:
System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
The EWS directory in IIS on both servers are set to use Anonymous and Windows Authentication. The main issues observed outside of the above errors was that free/busy information could not be viewed.
After rebuilding the EWS virtual directory and a couple reboots later, we tried enabling TLS 1.0 on both servers, rebooted, and there were no more EWS errors to be found - free/busy was also working.
So it appears that although this rollup allows SMTP to use TLS 1.1 or 1.2, EWS is still attempting to use TLS 1.0, and I don't see that it is possible to change thisYou need to include the To and From properties in the property set your using in the Bind statement change
var response = _ExchangeService.BindToItems(newMails,
new PropertySet(BasePropertySet.IdOnly, ItemSchema.DateTimeReceived,
ItemSchema.UniqueBody, ItemSchema.Subject,

Exchange will only return the properties that you ask it to.

PF DB is arounf 90 GB with alot of public folders and sub-folders. around 60 mail PF and too many subfolders.First and the most important thing you need to do is, upgrade exchange 2010 to SP2 and RU5.
Exchange 2010 RTM support is long gone.

Migrate Small Business Server 2003 to Exchange 2010 and Windows 2008 R2
I am trying to migrate my server SBS 2003 to win server 2008 r2 and exchange 2010.
I got error message when trying to install exchange 2010 server.
Error:
Installing product E:\exchangserver.msi failed. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by the MSI package is 'Error reading from file E:\Setup\ServerRoles\ClientAccess\owa\bin\DocumentViewing\isgdi32.dll.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.'.
Fatal error during installationHi Mike,
Error 1603 "Fatal Error" indicates that issues with Media type or Windows installer file not correctly installed.
I recommend you check the media you are installing. Change ISO files and reinstall.
Here are some threads for your reference.

Exchange 2013 Sp1 Coexistence with Exchange 2010 SP3 CU5 HTTP 500
I`m trying to make working OWA coexistence between Exchange 2013 SP1 and Exchange 2010 SP3 CU5.
When user login in to OWA where his mailbox is located on Exchange 2013 server it logon successful and owa opened. When i try to login to the same url with user whose mailbox is located on Exchange 2010 server i get Error http 50
The website cannot display the page : HTTP 500 »https://URLEXCHANGE2013/owa/auth.owa«
The same is, when i use https:// URLEXCHANGE2013/ecp?ExchClientVer=14
URL on Exchange 2013 are different as fro Exchange 2010.
I even tried to setup Internal URL for Exchange 2010 to bi set to »null ,Saem error
Exchange server 2013 Sp1 is installed on Windows server 2012 R2.Assumption is correct. I have even enable verbose logging, and i can see MSExchange Front End HTTP Proxy , that successfully connect to Exchange 2010 server.
But remember Exchange 2013 is fresh installation on Windows server 2012 R2.

Critical event Ids for exchange 2010
I need a list if critical event ids for exchange 2010 which should be monitored regularly. So that a script can be scheduled to report if in case any of these event ids are encountered. I have complied a list below and request you guys to add on this list.
Event ID Message
1004 Unable to start the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. Disk is full.
1022 Database is damaged. This means that online backup cannot complete because the database is damaged.
1034 The disk associated with cluster disk resource driveLetter could not be found. The expected signature of the disk was diskSignature.
5001 Unable to initialize the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. Disk is full.
9518 Error 0xfffffb40 starting Storage Group /DC=COM/DC=TEST/CN=CONFIGURATION/CN=SERVICES/CN=MICROSOFT EXCHANGE/CN=MICROSOFT/CN=ADMINISTRATIVE GROUPS/CN=AG1/CN=SERVERS/CN=SERVER1/CN=INFORMATIONSTORE/CN= FIRST STORAGE GROUP on the Microsoft Exchange Information
Store.
9555 Corrupt Message detected during MoveMailbox. Fid = folder id; Mid = message id; Some or all properties of this message will not be moved correctly.
9559 The log disk is full for storage group "name". Attempting to unmount all databases in this storage group.Hi Striker11,
Thank you for your question.
I agree with Martin. We should find a tool to monitor those errors or warning. Because there are many Event IDs in Exchange 2010. If those errors or warnings are both important for Exchange maintenance. If Exchange 2010 update to Exchange 2013, we will still
use tool to monitor it and not modify the script.
We could download SCOM by the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=2268
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

When I installed Rollup 8 for Exchange 2010 SP2 it caused an error in EWS
EWS failed with the error:
exchange web service could not load file or assembly Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService bad parameter
When I uninstalled the rollup all worked fine again.
Any ideas, Thanks in advance?Hi,
To apply this update rollup, you must have Exchange Server 2010 SP2 installed. And remove all interim updates for Exchange Server 2010 SP2 before you apply this update rollup. Please check your installation deployment by the following article:
Install the Latest Update Rollup for Exchange 2010
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff637981.aspx
Description of Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2903903/en-us
If all requirements and preparations are configured properly, please collect your error logs to check your installation. It would be helpful to post some event logs here for further analysis.
Thanks,
Winnie Liang
