Exchange email suddenly stopped working unless on the same wifi as the server.

I am the IT person at a small Construction company. We are running SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007. I have 6 Verizon iPhone 5's that the employees use. Up until the last two weeks everthing has been running fine, then everyone started getting "Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed." But as soon as they are back at the office on WIFI the mail syncs just fine. No changes were made to the server or router in the last 3 months. Any and all help is greatly appreicated.

Sounds like a problem with your firewall. Have you confirmed that the settings are still correct? Have you tried rebooting it?
Try testing it from outside your network using this tool: https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/
If it fails the test, but you're positive the firewall settings are correct, contact your ISP.

  • Exchange email suddenly stops working - password incorrect message

For the couple of months that I've had my iPhone, I have had email/contacts/calendar working fine through syncing with an Exchange server. Now it's suddenly stopped working, coming up with a 'password' incorrect message no matter how many times I input the correct password. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the email account, but the same problem arises. The username and server details are all exactly the same as those with which I initially set up the account.
One thing I have noticed is that when going back into the Account Info page on the iPhone, the password entry indicates 8 characters even though my exchange password has 10 characters, which I'm fully inputting each time.
I know that many people have experienced problems getting the Exchange up and running; I'm confused, though, that having had it working fine it should suddenly 'drop' the password for no apparent reason. Any advice would be appreciated!

This problem seems to have resolved itself - the fault was with the Exchange Server, apparently.

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Why has .mac email suddenly stopped working on my PowerPC G5?

It's worked fine for a couple of years and now it asks for my password, which it will not acknowledge.   I checked my .mac account settings, etc and all seems fine.  The .mac account runs fine on my phone and thru iCloud.  But now not on my desktop.
They're killing off MobileMe and I noticed that my desktop won't sync anymore with that either.  Related?    It appears that you will need OSX Lion to function fully with iCloud.    Let's see, I'm only 13 OSX upgrades behind........

  • Outgoing email suddenly stopped working this weeke...

I've seen may posts on this issue but not seen a solution that works for me yert:
I have a @btinternet.com email address and have been happily using this via iMac, iPad and webmail to send and receive emails no problem for a long while. A couple of days ago I started having the problem where I keep getting a popup asking for a passowrk on Mac Mail on the iMac and cannot send outgoing emails. I can still send/receive with no issues via iPad and Webmail.
I have changed no settings, deleted the account and recreated it several times with no joy. The outgoing SMTP server shows offline. I'm fairly sure the settings are correct though.
I have logged in/out of webmail several times as well.
I can send email via my @icloud.com email address from my iMac without any problems.
    Anyone able to help?

  • E61...emails suddenly stopped working / connecting...

Hi. Maybe somebody has experienced this too and knows what to do. Would appreciate any advice/help. My E61 was setup to collect my Hotmail email, I did this via the Nokia site etc. with the advanced settings being sent as an sms etc.etc. It was all going so well. Then about a week or so later I tried to connect to my inbox and it prompted me to type my username...which was already highlighted there on the screen so I pressed ok, then it asked for my password, which again I could see on the screen as a string of stars. So I pressed ok and it said "Save to mailbox settings?" or something along those lines and I had to press ok to continue as cancel would end the attempt to connect. NOw this all seems a bit odd. It had never asked me this before. Next it proceeded to try and connect to my inbox and said "failed to connect...check connection settings". which I did and nothing had changed. In an attempt to figure this out, I deleted the mailbox and went to the Nokia site to "re-order" the advanced settings. They were sent as expected and I saved them etc. but the same message comes up when trying to connect and hence I'm unable to use the service at the moment, which I'm paying vodafone for! also, I noticed that the settings i have been sent are different from those I originally was sent. For e.g. the mailbox now gets called "Vodafone Uk" instead of "Hotmail Email" which I definitely select in the drop down menu when prompted on the Nokia website. also the address for incoming server is totally different from the one I had originally, I seem to remember. Having rung vodafone they can't understand anything about it and report no fault there end. Is there a fault - do I need to reset the phone!!? Hope someone can help!! best wishes. ron.

May be due to the problem reported earlier this afternoon.

  • One email account stops working in Lion, despite same functioning settings on iPad and iPhone

    Hi,
here's to hoping someone out there can help.
Since the Lion install, one email account in Mail does not work. I tried deleting and re-installing the account and (with the help of tech support) toggling SSL settings and ports, but it still would not work. Interestingly, the account still works on iPad and iPhone. But the same settings do not work on the desktop Mail. Sending email to the account is received on mobile devices sans problem.
I'm afraid at this point to sync the macbook with iPad and iPhone for fear the devices will automatically stop receiving mail as well. What gives?
    Grateful for any tips!
    Cheers,
    Alicia

here is what I did to resolve the problem.  In Mail/preferences/accounts/account information/ and at the bottom of the box there is a toggle arrow up and down to edit the outgoing mail server, check the box "use only this server" and  hit this toggle button and select "edit SMTP Server List" at the very bottom of the email names.  Be sure to select OK each time to get the passwords to hold!  Some changes won't hold unless you click OK before you move on.
Select Advanced tab.  Correct and/or add usernames and passwords as needed for each email account.  It seems the passwords are not holding.
To test:       Window/activity (a little windows will pop up showing activity bars)   and then "get mail" button.  This should show any problems
    another test:  window/connection doctor
This will fix both pop and imap.  so far it worked on yahoo, mobile me, gmail, hotmail, and others.  Of course, you will need to know the incoming and outgoing mail server info, user name, and passwords.
Too bad we have to go though hoops to use an email program that used to work well.

  • Comcast email suddenly stops working

I have had two comcast email accounts on my iPhone 4 S for a year or more.  Suddenly last week I could not send email from one of the accounts.  It said the username or password was incorrect.  This dispite that fact that the phone still recieved email on that account.  After reading some posts here, I deleted the account on the phone, shut the phone down, turned it on again and attempted to add the account back in.  Unfortunately, it never was able to verify the account, so now I have lost the ability to recieve emails as well.  In the mean time, this same account works from my computer and the other comcast email continues on with no problems on all devices.  How do I fix this?

    Hi mekus,
    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
In this kind of cases the first step would be to remove the existing mailboxes and set them up again. Alternatively you could reset your phone settings, which will also remove all mailboxes in the same go. Dial *#7780# followed by your security code (the default security code is 12345, unless you have changed it) to reset your phone settings, no other data lost.
Also, access the Gmail account on your computer to see if it requires you to fill a captcha or any other security test.
Let us know if this helps!

  • Email suddenly stops working on iOS devices

I have been using email on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5 for over a year.
Two days ago, it stopped receiving email.
The error message I get is
"Cannot get mail. Password or username is incorrect."
Except that the email on my  MacBook Pro works fine using Thunderbird, and I have no trouble accessing the web based email using a PC.
In fact, I was even able to send myself a test email from the iPad to my gmail account.
Any ideas, suggestions. I re-booted each device twice to no effect,
    Thanks,
    Steve

Did you migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud before 1 August? If you did then you can set up an iCloud account using it. Your signature says you have 10.4.11 - is this correct? Lion 10.7.2 minimum is required for full use of iCloud but you can set Mail up manually on Tiger to access your iCloud email on a migrated MobileMe account:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger
If you did not migrate the account it has been closed, and all the contents deleted, including everything on the iDisk and any emails you had stored there.
If you only have Tiger you cannot reactivate the address.
If you have Lion or an iOS5 device you can sign into System Preferences> or Settings>iCloud with the @me.com version of the address to reactivate that address; you cannot reactivate the @mac.com version by any method.

  • Sending via IMAP Exchange 2003 suddenly stopped working

This is both perplexing -- and maddening -- for months I have been able to SEND using mail.ourdomain.com via our Exchange 2003 server set up for Outlook Web Access.
Last night, I was trying to get my wife's iPhone to work with the same settings as mine -- which it would not.
During my fiddling, I reselected MD5 Challenge-Response checkbox for authentication. It was already checked, but once I reselected I could NO LONGER send email via IMAP / SMTP! It just hangs!
I've tried creating a "new" SMTP server from scratch -- but no luck. Same error ("Cannot Send Mail - The connection to the outgoing server "mail.ourserver.com" failed.
This is the first time I've tried to modify the SMTP sending setup since updating to iPhone 2.1 software.
Is there any DEFINITIVE set of steps for setting up the iPhone to work with Microsoft Exchange Server configured for OWA? (BTW, Receiving works perfectly).

Sounds like you should take it back to the shop, with BB, to ask for a replacement, and/or get your phone supplier to try with a different model of BB. Mine has not had the problem since using the latest touch screen Bold, so suspect that the BB s/w version does make a difference.

While sending an email:  On my Powerbook, message contained "connection to the outgoing server failed.
While sending an email from I Pad:  MobilMe account expired.
On the I Phone:  Just said failed
Does having a .mac extension on my address have anything to do with it.

  • My wifi on my imac has suddenly stopped working I have the wifi exclamation mark when I try to log into my network it shows a strong signal but no joy. My macbook and iphone work fine

WWifi exclamation mark had suddenly appeared on my imac. I  have rebooted imac and router

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, first turn Wi-Fi off and back on. If it still fails to connect, then from the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
If there's still no connection, and if you have control of the router, compare its settings to Apple's recommendations. Some third-party routers may be incompatible in 802.11b/g/n radio mode. Try setting the mode to 802.11n only.

  • Mail Suddenly Stops Working

I'm helping a client who's email suddenly stopped working. So I did all the usual, and atypical fixes. Nothing worked.
So I enter all the account information on my Mac Mail, it it does not work. I go over to my Ubuntu box and fire up Thunderbird, it works. The Ubuntu box is on the same subnet as my Mac, so that eliminates DNS or network issues. I dowonload Thunderbird to my Mac, and email account works just fine. Hmm!?!
No matter what I do, I can not get Mac Mail to work on this one account, though other accounts work without issue. I have a feeling that it has something to do with how the password is encrypted, and that Mac Mail has changed this encryption. The other possibility is that the ISP, Verio.com, has changed something with their password decryption.
My client does not want to continue using Thunderbird as they really like Mac Mail. And calls to Verio just get the standard response that everything works for them (and it really does).
Any ideas what may have changed in the latest updates that would cause Mail to suddenly stop working?

    Hi obzidian.
If this started to happen as a result of installing a software update, chances are that you didn't install it properly.
Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the latest update (the one that appears to not have been installed properly). You may also need to reinstall the latest Combo Update for the type of machine and the version of Mac OS X you're using:
Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, and no applications should be running while installing it.

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if the email text shows when you re-open the Mail app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT4061 My iPhone5 suddenly stop working, what can I do to resolve the issue?

I don't know what to do my Iphone 5 just suddenly stop working, wont turn or anything.

    Hi The Great One 365,
If your having an issue where your iPhone 5 won't turn on at all, I would take a look at the Power/Battery troubleshooting in the following article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
