  • How to change exchange rate rounding

    Hello guys,
our customer requires to have exchange rates rounded to 3 decimal places. For direct FX rates it is not problem. But, the customer also requires to have rounded to 3 decimal places calculared cross FX rates (ie. FX rates calculated by SAP through reference currency) and not to 5 decimal places as offers SAP standard. Can anybody help how to change FX rates rounding policy?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
This cannot be done by a setting.  The currency rate field has 5 decimals and it cannot be changed.
There are rounding rules you can set with OB90, but even that is not what you are looking for.
The only option you have is to not let the cross rate be calculated by the system but is explicity entered or uploaded in OB08.  In this way you can ensure that no rate enters with decimals more than 3.
    Cheers.

  • System is trying to post exchange rate rounding revenues to a cost center!

    Hello experts,
We are trying to clear some accounts payable items and also run the payment program. Both operations are trying to post revenue to a cost center (and profit center), and we get an error (because cost center is locked against revenues, and we want to keep it that way...).
We have implemented the New GL with document split. We have setup account 80600 for revenue exchange rate differences in configuration. We have setup in OKB9 account 80600 for exchange rate differences to be posted to a profit center. Account 80600 is defined as a revenue element (type 11).
Can anybody please explain why the system is deriving the cost center and profit center when trying to post the revenue, instead of just the profit center?
Eventually if I cannot solve this issue, can anybody tell me how to change a cost element category of a cost element (from 11 to 1) which already has transactions posted to?
Thank you for your help in advance!
    Best regards,

  • Exchange rate rounding differences

    Hi,
when i am posting a document in FB01 transaction, there is a minor difference blw the document currency and local currency.
the document currency balances to zero but the local currency gives a balance of 0.03 or 0.02 blw debit and credit lines. i can post this document by correcting this small difference.
Please let me know if there is any configuration settings in Fi to avoid this scenerio.

  • How to post the revenue on exchange rate in SAP ?

    Hi All,
a Company gets a g.l. bank account in USD (account currency). The local currency is EUR.
2010.01.01: its balance was 9.527,23 USD (account currency). Given a currency exchange rate 1 USD x 1,4406 EUR, the amount of the account in local currency was 6.613,38 EUR.
2010.01.15: the bank account is closed. Given a currency exchange rate 1 USD x 1,4374 EUR, the amount of the account in local currency is 6.628,10 EUR
When the account bank is closed the balance in local currency  is 14,72 EUR -
2010.01.01 --> 9.527,23 USD (account currency); 6.613,38 EUR (local currency).
2010.01.15 --> 9.527,23 USD (account currency); 6.628,10 EUR (local currency).
20.01.15: in local currency I've to post a revenu of 14,72 EUR
Could anyone tell me which account posting I've to do for this revenue?
    Thanks

The differemce is due to exchange rate difference post the difference in a new g/l name it exchange rate diff. revenue account for more read below:
    Exchange Rate Rounding Differences
When an invoice is posted in a foreign currency, the amounts are translated into local currency. Since the system rounds off the amounts in each posting line, this can lead to rounding differences due to the currency translation.
These differences are posted to an expense or income account.
During the document check, the system displays a posting line for the corresponding account.

  • Exchange rate different flow

    Hi guy
I have this PO (exhange rate not fixed) created last month, and this mth I did the GR and LIV.. somehow there is a different in the exchange rate.. where does the different goes to?
    Any idea?
    Regards,
    Esther

It will post to MM exch rate different (KDM) in tcode OBYC, please check below help text from SAP:
Exchange rate differences in the case of open items (KDM)
Exchange rate differences in the case of open items arise when an
invoice relating to a purchase order is posted with a different
exchange rate to that of the goods receipt and the material cannot
be debited or credited due to standard price control or stock
    undercoverage/shortage.
    additional:
Differences due to exchange rate rounding, Materials Management
    (KDR)
An exchange rate rounding difference can arise in the case of an
invoice made out in a foreign currency. If a difference arises when
the posting lines are translated into local currency (as a result of
rounding), the system automatically generates a posting line for
    this rounding difference.

  • Exchange rate and GST round off differences

    Hi,
When we create a invoice with tax then some times the vendor invoice tax amt may differ from the tax amt calculated by our system. This may be due to the rounding differences. So how to handle these kind of payments?
Can any one pls explain me the procedure for handling the exchange rate differences.
    Thanks,
    Sravanthi.

    Dear Sravanthi,
The difference is not because of the rounding off. Rounding off differnce come only till nearest rupee. And that is acceptable. But in your case I think the difference is coz of the exchange rate maintained in the system. If you maintain the exchange at which the vendor invoice is preapared then i think ur problem may get resolved.
Also execute F.05 - Valuation of open items in foreign currency, before you run the payment transaction.
    Hope this will help you.

    Hi,
You need not worry about the OB08 entry for rate type EURO, it is needed by the system to determine the euro conversion.  You will continue to update the other rate types like M, B, G with the EUR/SKK rate till 31.12.2008.  Once you are on 01.01.2009, the currency of your country/company code will become EUR and you will not need to use any rate to convert to EUR.
BW will have no issues here, as it would also be using the rate type M, G, B etc for conversion till 31.12.2008.  You will need to carry out the changeover steps in BI also.
    Cheers.

  • Exchange Rate mismatching

    Hello,
We are facing an exchange rate mismatching between Income Statement and Specification Accounts.
Income Statement accounts are submitted monthly and the exchange rate applied on it is the periodic exchange rate.
On the other hand Specification Accounts are submitted quarterly and the exchange rate applied on it is the periodic cumulated average exchange rate.
The condition between these two kinds of accounts is that after the third month of data submission both Income Statement and Specification Accounts must match, but this is not the case since we are using different exchange rates and data is submitted with a different frequency.
We would like to know what are the options BCS provides for matching these two accounts at the end of every quarter.
    Thanks in advance.
    Diego

    HI Diego,
    Try to use Rounding function.
Create rounding method with rounding type: Selection 1 + Selection 2 = 0
In Selection 1 insert Specification Accounts. In Selection 2 insert Income Statement accounts.
Decide when to post rounding differences: account from Selection 1 or account form Selection 2
Insert this rounding method into currency translation task (egxecuted quartally).
    It should works!
    Hope this help

  • Exchange Rate Calculation - Can I change it?

BPCu2019s conversion process is different from the way weu2019re currently operating.  Currently, weu2019re pulling data from Oanda.COM for every Currency-to-Currency permutation and using Oandau2019s rounded to 5 decimal place rate to calculate the exchange rates in our Financial System.
However, BPC seems to convert differently.  In BPC, we've loaded all Rates to the tblFactRate table as they relate to USD.  So, if calculations need to be done between non-USD currencies, the rates are calculated on the fly based on the ratesu2019 relation to the USD rate.
    Example:
For February 2010 we have the following Average rates:
Oanda.com  (These are the rounded to 5 Decimal rates for the 28 days of February, averaged, then rounded to 5 Decimal Places again)
    GBP u2013 USD:         1.56285
    EUR u2013 USD:         1.36842
    GBP u2013 EUR:         1.14235
In BPC we only have the following rates in the tblFactRate table, so the system cannot use the GBP u2013 EUR rate from Oanda.com.  We only load the following:
    GBP u2013 USD:         1.56285
    EUR u2013 USD:         1.36842
If a conversion is needed for GBP u2013 EUR, it will calculate the rate on the fly as so:
    1.56285 / 1.36842 = 1.142083571
So, because Oanda is using a Rounded Average, based on Rounded rates, the way things are now, the BPC Calculated Rate will not match the rates in our Financial System.
Is this a configuration issue or is this simply the way the software does FX Translation?  Is it possible to load GBP - EUR rates somehow and have BPC calculate those rates based on what we input rather than the calculation being used?
    Thanks!
    Sean

    Hi,
I dont think this can be changed. BPC stores the conversion rates with respect to the group currency (or the currency of the parent entity). So, the currency translation is also done based on the group currency, as you have indicated. With 5 places of decimal, the figures will definitely not match.
    Hope this helps.

  • Exchange rate expression Direct and Indirect qutation

    Hello,
Please can you explain whether there are any issues or risks in
switching the Exchange Rate Types used in SAP to allow inverted rates
to be used - or any reasons why it was designed not to have inverted
rates switched on. I think to reduce the maintenance of the foreign
exchange rate table, it doesn't make sense, for example, to enter both
    a GBP/USD rate and a USD/GBP rate
The other issue is that my client publish internally the month-end
rates as direct quotations - i.e. 1 Israeli New Shekel (ILS) = 0.1584
British Pounds but somehow, the rate used in the revaluation program is
different. This could be because a rounded reciprocal of this rate is
entered, or the rate is entered with a different number of decimal
places. If only direct rates are entered, and these are the ones our client
publish, there is hopefully a better chance that the revalued figures
are in line with what client expect them to be.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    regards,
    Satya

  • Currency Exchange rate maintenance

    Hi all FI Master,
My local currency is in GBP. I maintain foreign currency exchange rate like USD to GBP, SGD to GBP and so on. My question is do I need to maintain the exchange rate in the other way round (like GBP to USD)?
Secondly, if my vendor bill me is foreign currency USD, and I pay in foreign curr SGD, do I need to maintain the exchange rate from SGD to USD?
    Thank you.

    Hi Cire,
The Answer depends on your settings for the Exchange rate type
(SPRO > General Settings > Currencies > Check exchange rate types)
       1)    No if  Invert flag is set for the exchange rate type.
Yes if flag is not set.
       2)    No if you have specified GBP as the Ref.crcy.
Yes if no Ref.Crcy is specified.
    Kind regards

  • Exchange Rate for Excise Invoice (J1IIN)

    Hi Experts,
which field the exchange rate is considering to calculate the excise duty for export excise invoice?
We are maintaining Exchange rate in OB08 with Exchange rate type--M (Standard translation at average rate) on daily basic as per Bank Exchange rate.
But in excise invoice we want to calculate an exchange rate from customs which is maintained in different Exchange Rate Type (it will be changed on monthly basic).
We need to copy same exchange rate from billing to Excise Invoice which is not 'M' maintained in Company code setting in CIN config.
    Please suggest,
    Regards,

customer master level??is there any link between customer master and purchasing?
for my case, i have the exchange rate maintained in OB08 under exchange rate type "M" and rate of 1 JPY = 0.608 INR
during migo and after the conversion i got the below exchange rates for the respective custom duties.
BED = 28,742 JPY, after conversion in MIGO 17,475.13 INR, exch rate of 0.6079997912462598
AED = 12,740, after conversion in MIGO 7,747.02 INR, exch rate of 0.6080863422291994
CESS = 575, after conversion in MIGO 349.54 INR, exch rate of 0.607895652173913
SECess = 288, after conversion in MIGO 174.76 INR, exch rate of 0.6068055555555556
why is there a slight deviation among the exch rate among the 4 excise duties?is this behaviour normal?
because if i were to calculate using exch rate of 0.608, the results for the 4 excise dutie should be as below
BED = 17475.136 INR round off to 17,475.14
AED = 7745.92 INR round off to 7,745.92
CESS = 349.6 INR round off to 349.6
SECess = 175.104 INR round off to 175.10
please advice whether is there anything wrong and if the slight deviation above is a normal behaviour for 'M" exchange rate.
Also, i have also tried putting the 'fixed exchange rate' in the PO header but it's still havng the same symptoms.
    Thank you.

  • Different LC amount for same exchange rate at Incoming & Outgoing payment

    Hi
I have created an incoming and outgoing payment separately. One of the amount is the same between Incoming and Outgoing payment with same currency and same exchange rate, but system generated LC amount with a rounding difference of SGD 0.01. Example, in incoming payment, the double entry is:
    Dr AP/AR Contra account   USD $ 294,318.00     __*SGD $ 442,065.64*__
    Cr Customer          USD $ 294,318.00          SGD $ 440,289.64
    Cr Exchange Gain/Loss                    SGD $     1,776.00
For outgoing payment, if the exchange is the same as 1.512, the system generated double entry below:
    Dr  Supplier              USD $ 864,624.53    SGD $ 1,271,084.52
    Dr Exchange Gain/Loss                             SGD $      27,581.52
Cr Cash At Bank          USD $ 570,306.53     SGD $ 856,600.41
    Cr AR/AP Contra A/C          USD $ 294,318.00     __*SGD $ 442,065.63*__
As you can see from the sample above, AP/AR Contra account is generated as 442,065.64 in Incoming payment whereas for the same rate and same posting date, the system generated different LC amount in Outgoing payment to 442,065.63, there is a 0.01 difference.
Why is that so? Why same exchange rate and FC amount will resulted in different SGD amount? Anybody know whether there is any workaround to solve this problem? Thanks.
    Regards,
    MH

    Hi Gordon,
I don't really get what you mean. I have tried on my own database and it doesn't happen even though patch level, decimal places and document settings are the same. But it just happen on customer database with exactly the same transactions. So not sure how SAP calculate the amount. Thanks.

    MH
