Exchange Rate Types Used In What Transactions

Hi Experts!
I was inquiring on if there is a way to see all exchange rate types ("M" and alternative exchange rate types), with respects to where they are used, posted, and most importantly, what all transactions use them.  The exchange rate types we use are M (system), Z1 (custom), and 0011 (custom).  Even if there is a SAP note, on this, that would be helpful too.  Urgent!  Thank you for your time!
WC

Hi Will,
Execute transaction code <b>OB07</b> to see all the exchange rate types within your system.
The following should help you to understand where they are used and which transactions used them.
In <b>planning</b>, exchange rate types are used to specify exchange rates used for different purposes at the same time in the system. Existing entries may not be deleted.
When exchange rate conversions take place between many different currencies, using a reference currency can simplify maintenance of exchange rates. For the exchange rate types concerned, you then only have to specify the exchange rates in relationship to the reference currency for all currencies. The SAP R/3 System then carries out all exchange rate conversions in two steps, using the reference currency.
As well as a <b>buying rate</b> "<b>G</b>", you can also maintain a <b>selling rate</b> "<b>B</b>".
The buying rate is that under which the average rate "<b>M</b>" is recorded.
When maintaining a buying rate, enter the appropriate currency type for the average rate. This reduces the amount of work required in the conversion table.
The selling rate is that under which the average selling rate is recorded.
The user need only maintain the conversions for the average rate. The conversion occurs by determining the average rate and then adding the difference between the rates to this rate.
If an entry for a currency conversion is missing, the indicator Invert ensures that the reversed currency relationship, should one exist, is available for the conversion.
<u><b>Standard settings</b></u>
The standard R/3 System includes exchange rate type <b>P</b> (standard translation for cost center accounting).
<u><b>Note</b></u>
When you create a controlling area, the SAP R/3 System creates version 000 automatically for 5 years. Rate type <b>P</b> is defaulted.
The R/3 System uses rate type <b>M</b> for currency conversion during postings and clearings of documents.
<u><b>Recommendation</b></u>
Before creating your own exchange rate types, check those offered by SAP and use them if appropriate.
I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.
Regards,
Jacob

  • Specific Exchange rate type for Purchase order transactions

    Hello,
Is there any transaction in customizing where we can default a specific exchange rate type to be used for specific transactions. To explain in more detail, I am setting up a new exchange rate type which will be maintained by Treasury. We want Purchase Orders (in a specific Purchasing Org) to be raised only with that rate type. There are other requirements as well like that Exhange rate field should be non editable in the Purchase order etc.
Any inputs would be of great help
    Keyur

I donot think any such standard setting is there..
Depending on the currency that you enter....in PO foreign currency...excahnge rate is read from transaction OB08....
Or if you manually key in the excahnge rate in pO header.

  • Parallel currencies - Same currency but 2 different exchange rate type -

    Hi Expert,
I need your knowledge - I want to create a romanian company with 2 currencies - the first one will be RON company currency with the standard exchange rate type used for all others company of the group (maintained monthly from German National Bank exch.rate)
The second one will be also RON, currency of the trading partner, but with a specific exchange rate type (maintained Daily from the Romania National Bank)
I would like to work in this way to satisfy the group, which need to work with a monthly exchange rate for X reasons, and our Romanian company for which the daily exchange rate is mandatory.
If you have some experience on it, please give a feedback, not in detail (certainly to much work) but at least if I can go on this way or not. if you know a black point in some transaction (I think to the fixed assets, or stock valuation ....) and if you have an advice to have the correct value in RFBILA00 for example.
Thanks a lot for your help
    Nathalie

There are many approaches for different exchange rates maintainence.
Here are the information required to process your query.
    1. How many company code  do you have in your company
    2. what is group currency maintained at client level
    3. Do you use special ledger or under new gl
    4. will you customer allow to deviate from the iso standards of currency maintainence like RON for romanian to ZRO for same romanian currency.
Expecting input for processing your query.

  • Exchange rate type determination

    Hi,
Just wanted to know how a exchange rate TYPE is determined by SAP in sales order or any FI document?
Currently for us, the exchange rate type used by SAP is EURX and I am wondering how this type is determined (not type M), if:
    1. Nothing is defined in customer master
    2. Nothing is defined in Additional Local currencies (OB22)
The company is Poland and company code currency is EUR. Is it to do anything with Euro currency.
    Please help me?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
The system by default uses Exchange Rate Type M for any currency translation in the system.  You can use a different exchange rate type in your system, instead of Type M, by defining the alternative exchange rate type in transaction code OBBS.
    Please assign points.

  • Default customized exchange rate type

    Hi friends,
I have an issue during an implementation.
I want to use a customized exchange rate type for all forex transactions for only 1 company code in the system having several company codes. Please let me know how do i set the customized exchange rate type as default for a particular company code
    Regards
    Srinivasan

    Hi,
SAP has defaulted exchange rate type M in the function module. So if exchange rate type is not assigned to a document type, default M is picked.
In case you want to have a default ex rate type other than M, that too for a particular co.code within the client, you would have to use specific document type to which this new rate type is assigned.
There is no other way out.
    Hope it resolves your issue.

  • Group Currency  Exchange rate type.

    Hi
We wanted to post a foreign currency document, with a specific Exchange rate, that is specified in the Document type.
Doument Currency is getting converted into Local Currency (Company code currency) based on the exchange rate type specifed in the Document type used for posting.
But, the Group Currency is getting converted from Document currency based on the Exchange rate type : "M" but based on the Exchange rate type specified in the Document type.
Is there any way, apart from specifying Exchange rate type in Parallel Currencies.
We wanted the conversion of Both Local (Company code) & Group currencies be converted based on the Exchange rate type specified in the document type, for some specific postings.
    Following is our Scenario :
    Co.Code Cur - EUR
    Doc.Cur          GBP
    Grp Cur           USD
Document type : XY -- Exchange rate type "1111" specified in the document type.
Now when a document is posted with Document type "XY"  in Document Cur : GBP.
Both Local & Grp currency to be converted based on the Exchange rate type " 1111".
    Thanks
    Kalyan

    Hello Kaylan,
I will try to explain the system behavior, regarding to the exchange
rate question, "M" is standard exchange rate type used in R/3 so it's
not possible to change this default setting. However you can assign the
exchange rate type to each FI document type at transaction OBA7. The
exchange rate type assigned here applies to both online/batch postings.
Therefore you can assign a different exchange rate type to the document
types, but not per company code. The exchange rate that you customize at
document type level is validfor the first local currency. However, for
parallel currencies, the system will always use the exchange rate type
defined in transaction OB22. Please, check your customizing there to
    check your changes.
If you want to use exchange rate type B, for example, instead of M, in
customizing you have to give Alt Ex.Type as B against M. So that it will
take B rate whenever M is applicable. If you want this B rate to be
applicable for specific document types then you can do the same at
document type definition itself. Otherwise you can do the same at
payment program level/ Revaluation. These are the only places where
    exchange type comes into picture.

  • Use an alternative Exchange Rate Type for activity actual price

    Dear All,
I try to use an alternative Exchange Rate (not M)  in controlling area version "0", I need to use a custom currency exchange rate like in planned price (here I create a new planned version with exchange rate "N").
I find same notes and it seems that standard Sap use only Exchange Rate "M" for actual price but I notice that for example in transaction KB21N (activity allocation) system shows in additional info exchange rate "N" (input in version "0").
Is not possibile to use other Exchange Rate for actual price, activity allocation, for confirmed activity in production order?
Controlling area has currency type 30 (group currency EUR), this company has MXN.
Thanks in advance for your support
    Daria

In KB21N (activity allocation), system uses the exchange rate type you have maintained in controlling area version plan settings (transaction OKEQN). Activity allocation during the month always happen at the planned price maintained in KP26 at the exchange rate specified in plan version. During actual price calculation and revaluation during month end, it calculates actual activity price at (uses M rate to convert to controlling area currency) and revaluates consumption.
I think you cannot use other exchange rate, see the coding in include LKSPIF00 that is used in KSII where currency type is hard coded to M, if this is plan price calculation it's picking tka07-kurst.

  • Using an Exchange Rate Type other than 'M' in a Purchase Order

I use several exchange rate types in SAP for various currency positions, specificially with pricing.
As a result, when I create a Purchase Order I want to use a different Exchange Rate Type, instead of the standard 'M'.  I have seen the rates can be placed directly in the Purchase Order, but I would like the system to look up the required rate using a specific exchange rate type.
Can anyone provide any suggestions or guidance based on prior experiences ?
    thanks
    gino ruggiero

    Dear Gino Ruggiero,
The MM functionality always uses the "M" rate.
Not able to release Purchase doc.

  • Using Diffrent Exchange rate Type for Payroll

    Hi All experts,
We wish to use a different exchange rate type for Payroll currency conversion. As we all know that the Payroll driver uses the currency coversion rate M and is hardcoded in the standard Programmes.
Now please suggest me whether it is possible in any means to use different currency conversion rate for Payroll?
Also we have explored the Global payroll, but the same has been not yet released for all customers, can I use it as it provides with the option of choosing exchange rate type on a particular date and have standard excahnge protection IT.
    Awaiting guidance from u all....

    Hi,
No i want system to pick diffrent exchange rate so i want to change exchange rate type for 1st Local Currency.
But that area is greyed out. Is there any system setting where i can maintain diffrent Exchange rate type for 1st Local Currency instead of "M". or is there any other way out that system will pick up diffrent exchange rate.
Problem is that two entities are operating in different market having same local currency but conversion rate for Foreign currency will be diffrent e.g. Local Currency EUR Exchange rate between EUR -USD in France 1.20 and Exchange rate between EUR-USD in Germany 1.25.
Is there any wayout to deal with such situation.
    Please suggest.

  • Why exchange rate type "EURX" is used ?

    Dear all,
I post with FB65 a document with currency EUR.
The local currency is THB and group currency is CHF.
The document type doesn't have specific exchange rate type ==> by default the type "M" is taken.
But, when I post a document with currency EUR, the system doesn't take the type "M", but the type "EURX".
In this case, I don't want to use "EURX", but I want to use "M".
    How can I do ?
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

Please check the configuration in OBBS.  You would have specified an alternate exch. rate type (EURX) for exch. rate type M for the currency pair in question.
Please refer to the following notes as well.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/139553
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/123819
PS: OB22 would not tell you anything.

    Hello experts,
I have a question regarding exchange rate type.
There is a custom exhange rate type ZXXX in our system, however, we don't know where this exchange rate type ZXXX is used. Is there any method that we can find where this exchange rate type is used?
    Many thanks.

Exchange Rate Type is created in SPRO:-SAP Net Weaver>General Settings>currency>Check Exchange Rate type.
It is used for maintainace of Exchange Rate in OB08 for direct & indirect quote..

  • Exchange rate type settings

    Hello,
In same client one company code use reference currency as local currency (XYZ) for exchange rate type u2018Mu2019. Exchange rates are maintained on daily base for the exchange rate type.
New company code with different local currency would like to maintain exchange rate on monthly.
Both company codes use same document types in FI and other modules.
As per my understanding it is not possible to have to different exchange rate settings for same exchange rate type u2018Mu2019 in one client.
In case if we have to use different exchange rate type for new company code what are the things to be considered or is there any alternate way please advise.
    Thanks!
    Raju

    Hi,
You will have to create a new exchange rate type.
Throughout SAP rate M will be used for actual postings unless a different rate type is specified.
    You can do this in:-
                      a) Document type
                      b) F110 - rate to be used can be specified
                      c) Customer Master Sales org data (for use in SD).
Doing a complete duplicate set of document types is unrealistic. You need to identify where the FX transactions are and create Document types only where needed. You will also need a new FX valuation type that uses the new rate.
When faced with this situation i only create 1 additional document type, to be used for Inbound invoices. This plus b) & c) for my companies covers 90+% of the FX postings.
    Kind regards
