Execute .bat within a PDF

Is it possible to execute a script/batch file within a PDF with the result returned to a field on the PDF?
Many Thanks,
Garreth Curran

No. You can execute a BAT file via Execute Menu Item actions, with
suitable warnings of course, but there is no way to read responses.

  • Executing commands within .bat file sequentially within the same cmd window

We have a .bat file that contains several commands. Each command invokes an .exe with arguments.
When I invoke the .bat file programatically using the command "cmd.exe /c myfile.bat", the commands are running parallelly.
Within the .bat file, I also tried using start "" /wait /b "myprocess.exe" instead of just
"myprocess.exe", but both gives the same result.
    Any solution to this?
    Note:
    We use Windows 7 environment.

I am invoking the batch programatically in c#.
As per your suggestion, I modified the code as below to execute bat file directly instead of using cmd.exe.
    Process proc = new
    Process();
    proc.StartInfo.FileName
    = "c:\\myfile.bat";
    proc.Start();
But still I could see the parallel execution of commands within the bat file.
I was not able to use Call command as I have to invoke programatically.
Is there a way to invoke Call command from c#?

  • Is there a way to create an email button to multiple addresses within a PDF?

I have to regularly update a list of committee members and their email addresses which is then sent to all of the members.
Does anyone know if there a way of creating a button for each of the committees in the list which, when clicked, creates an email to all the  members contained within that committee?  I will need to add up to 14 email addresses to the one button. I need to know this because the various members in the committees are  fed up of copying and pasting all the email addresses into their email messages.
I am now using Acrobat XI but I still can't figure out if this is even possible. If not a button, is there some other way of being able to launch an email to multiple addresses within a PDF?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Not really. But you can combine the data from multiple forms into a single (new) spreadsheet via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Merge Data Files into Spreadsheet...

  • Is there a way to create a PDF within a PDF?

    Hi!
I am creating a PDF form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  The group that I am creating this form for would like to have their customers fill out the form itself but then also have a form that is attached to the original form where the users would give more detailed information or fill out a chart.  They would then like the original PDF form along with the attached PDF form to be emailed to them.  Is the PDF within a PDF possible?  I know you can attach a file as a comment (though for some reason it is not working now - I don't know if it is because my form is now a dynamic PDF) but I don't know if you can attach a file another way then be able to update and save it.
    Thanks~

It almost sounds like you are trying to do forms in a package format (needs at least AA8 on the user end). You might find a useful example at grants.gov in terms of one of the submission packages. I think you can download those (I generally get them from our contracting office). The basic package had several forms embedded already and there was an option to add more - sure sounds like what you want to do. Whether you need to create such a package in Acrobat or Designer is not something I can answer. Good luck.

  • How do I link to an anchor point  within a web page from within a PDF

    Hello,
Can someone tell me how to link to an anchor point on a webpage from within a PDF?
I created a page in Word and when i add my url with the # to reference the anchor eg. www.google.com/web#test1 and test the link it all works fine. I then create a PDF of this same page however the PDF seems to strip out the URL and looks to reference a file #test1.
    Any suggestions, ideas?
    Thanks

  • How can I call a LabVIEW executable from within another LabVIEW executable?

I have a customer requirement for two LabVIEW executables. Based on their current setup, they need to run executable "A" or "B", both of which are under independent revision control. I have created a third "selection" executable that allows the operator to choose between one of the two, but I am receiving errors when I attempt to call a LabVIEW executable from within a LabVIEW executable using either the "System exec" VI or the "Run Application" VI. If I call a non-LabVIEW executable (such as Windows Explorer) everything works fine.

As with the other poster, I suspect a path problem. You might try the
path out in a shell window, and if it works, copy the complete absolute
path to LV to see if that works. LV is basically passing the comma
    nd to
the OS and doesn't even know what is in it, so you should be able to get
    it to work.
The other poster commented on subpanels, which is a good suggestion, but
without going to LV7, an EXE can have open more than one VI. You can
use the VI Server and the Run method to fire up another top-level VI.
The decision is whether you want both to be in unique processes.

  • Clicking PDF links within a PDF no longer working after upgrade.

After upgrading Adobe Reader to version 11.0.10, I can no longer click and open links to pdf documents that are within a pdf.  These files are password protected, but I don't even get the prompt to put in my password, I try to click a pdf link, and nothing.  There must have been some type of additional security/protection added in this version of Adobe Reader because I was able to open the same links in the earlier version of 11.  Can anyone offer any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Prabhakar,
we have an open call on this issue. SAP replied on the 10th of March:
"As this DTN issue isn't reproducable on our SP15 system, please upgrade your KM version to PL1, as per NOTE 911395(same as our test system). If for some reason the issue still exists after this upgrade I will further this issue with our Dev colleagues."
I read the note mentioned (which contains a list of the changes in PL1) and it says nothing about this issue in particular, if I'm not mistaken. Our system is on SP15 (not SP15 PL1), so we'll have to upgrade to PL1 first before we can investigate this any further. I currently don't know when this update is scheduled by our systems engineering department.
Is your system on PL1 by any chance? If so, then the problem has not been fixed in PL1 - which would be interesting for us to know.
    Thanks,
    Jens

  • How to put more than 1200 characters in a text form within a pdf created in Adobe Acrobat

I need to know how to put more than 1200 characters in a text form within a pdf created in Adobe Acrobat. I have a request from a customer to do so and after googling I have came up with nothing. Also the customer would like it if they could convert said pdf form to a microsoft word document with the text form.

There's no limit on the number of characters you can enter into a text
field, unless you set it as such.

  • Hyperlink from within a Word Document to a specific page within a PDF document.

I was hoping that someone would be able to assist me.  I would like to create a hyperlink (used as a citation) on my Word document that opens directly to a specified page within a PDF document (possible other word docs and so on, but less
often).  How do I go about performing this?  Another note, all the documents would reside within a SharePoint site.

I am not a Word guru, but I don't think you can run a macro from a hyperlink. But you can create an active X label that runs a macro when clicked. You can use the following macro to go to a specific page in a PDF file.
    Sub OpenPDFPageView(DisplayPage As Integer)
'In order to use the macro you must enable the Acrobat library from VBA editor:
'Go to Tools -> References -> Adobe Acrobat xx.0 Type Library, where xx depends
'on your Acrobat Professional version (i.e. 9.0 or 10.0) you have installed to your PC.
    Dim PDFApp As AcroApp
    Dim PDFDoc As AcroAVDoc
    Dim PDFPageView As AcroAvPageView
    Dim PDFPath As String
    Dim DisplayPage As Integer
    PDFPath = "C:\Users\doudou\documents\test1.pdf"
'Set the page you want to be displayed
    'DisplayPage = 3
'Initialize Acrobat by creating App object
    Set PDFApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
    'Set AVDoc object
    Set PDFDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
    'Open the PDF
    If PDFDoc.Open(PDFPath, "") = True Then
    PDFDoc.BringToFront
    'Maximize the document
    Call PDFDoc.Maximize(True)
    Set PDFPageView = PDFDoc.GetAVPageView()
    'Go to the desired page
    'The first page is 0
    Call PDFPageView.GoTo(DisplayPage - 1)
'Set the page view of the pdf
    Call PDFPageView.ZoomTo(2, 50)
    End If
    Set PDFApp = Nothing
    Set PDFDoc = Nothing
    On Error Resume Next
    'Show the adobe application
    PDFApp.Show
'Set the focus to adobe acrobat pro
    AppActivate "Adobe Acrobat Pro"
    End Sub

  • Links within a pdf won't open in Safari, but work fine on Explorer, Firefox

I created a pdf with embedded links and posted it to my site. The links within the pdf work just fine with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, but they will not open with Safari, neither on a Mac nor on a Windows platform.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try this. In the Safari window, click the Preferences icon right side of page.
    Then select the General tab.
At the bottom of that window, below, "Open links from applications", choose the option you want.

  • Add a watermark to multiple files within a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro?

Can I add a watermark to multiple files within a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat X Pro? If so, how?  It appears as though it is a removed option.

I've figured this out. (kind of) not using PDF Portfolio; where you could apply watermark to multiple files in Acrobat 9.
I'm answering my own question in case there are others looking to add a watermark to multiple files.
Step 1: Open a single file
    Step 2: Tools>Pages>Watermark>Add Watermark
Step 3: In bottom of Watermark Edit Box, Select "Apply to Multiple"
    Step 4: Select "Add Files
    etc etc.

  • Is it possible to link to specific files on a server from within a pdf?

    Hi all,
Is it possible to create hyperlinks to a specific file on a Windows server from within a pdf?
Let me explain further, I am working on a Mac trying to create hyperlinks from within InDesign to specific files on a Windows server. I am exporting the file to pdf, along with the hyperlinks, which look correct when I click on them from within Acrobat.
On Windows, the links will read as \\servername\directoryname\filename so this is exactly how I enter it as the hyperlink. When I view the hyperlink information in the resulting pdf from within Acrobat, it still looks correct as \\servername\directoryname\filename but when I try to click on it from the Windows side OR the Mac side, the link doesn't work and gets changed....the slashes revert to the opposite direction and the whole link gets messed up. I am trying to figure out if the cause is InDesign, Acrobat or whether this can even be done? Of corse, I never have issues with normal URLS.
What we are trying to do is set up an internal catalogue for the company of all our materials. (Everyone works on Windows)
Should I try to create the links from within a Windows version of Acrobat... do you think that will make any difference?
Thanks in advance for your help:)
    Very much appreciated!
    Christine

Thank you for your help...very much appreciated!
Basically, what we needed were for the links to be static and not relative, and they were mainly for Windows users. What finally worked was creating the links from within a Windows version of Acrobat. We plan to email the final pdf to several employees around the word (we are an international company) with all the links intact. Once they were logged into our network (vpn'd in) the links would still be valid no matter where the document was located. The trick is to change the start of the link to a specific IP address (the server address) when you are setting it up in Acrobat. I hope this makes sense and is helpful for everyone else out there:)
(P.S. This works for Windows users only though and cannot be done via the Mac version of Acrobat. I can set things up within the Mac version of Acrobat so that the links will work as long as the document resides in the same location on the server... the advantage to doing it THIS way is that it will work for BOTH Mac and Windows users.)
    Thanks again,
    Christine

  • How do you open a link within a PDF in a new window?

I created a PDF that will be viewed in a browser. Is there a way to set the links within the PDF to open in a new window?

Did you get an answer to this?   I am having the exact same issue.  My source html document has a link which specifies a target of _blank, but when I generate a pdf from that html doc, view the PDF in my browswer, and click the link, it overlays the PDF instead of opening a new window with the linked URL.  I've seen this posted as an issue a number of times, but have yet to see a solution.

  • How do I embed a pdf document into an existing pdf so that the user double clicks on the pdf object within the pdf and it opens? i've looked everywhere on various forums and tried attachments - but still not working. Thanks

I've tried various methods but to no avail. I have a pdf document and within the pdf I'd like to embed a couple pdf documents so that all the user has to do is double click on the pdf object inside the pdf and it opens in a new window. I've tried using attachments to do it and linking it...but to no avail. Anyone know how to do? I'm using Acrobat Pro Version 11. Thanks

The "embed" feature common to MS Office applications is not applicable to PDF (for the why and wherefore of PDF get comfortable and read the ISO Standard for PDF - ISO 32000-1:2008).
You can insert other PDF files' pages into any given PDF.
You can attach files of supported formats to a PDF (of course a PDF is supported).
You cannot "embed". So, nothing is broken.
    Be well...

  • Go to a specific page within the PDF

    Hi,
I try to figure out how to make a link to another page within the PDF doc.
I tried with a button, but cannot specify the page number where I want the link.
Does anyone can help me to make a link on a specific page within my doc?
    thanks
