Execute compiler from my java program??

Hi,
How can I call java compiler and interpreter from my own java program?? I've tried this code :
public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
        Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
        r.exec("javac Test.java");
    } catch (Exception err) {
        err.printStackTrace();
}but it didn't work. An exception was thrown, it sounds something like "error javac=2", or something like that. The exception was thrown on line r.exec. I tried change the command with r.exec("java -version"). But nothing happenned (I thought I will get string with my java version on it, like when I type the same command on console), but no error was thrown too. But when I tried this one : r.exec("java Test"), the exception was thrown. What's going on? I've compiled the Test.java using NetBeans, and moved the Test.class into user folder (C:\Document And settings\Timotius Pamungkas), but get the same exception. I've already set the path and classpath. But when I tried r.exec("calc"), windows calculator appeared.
What's going on?? How can i compile java source code from and execute the calss file or jar file my own java program?

    No actually I am not getting any error messages. If I use from Command line, I
    can see the output in one of the stdout files. In tha case of java I am not getting
    any. I think after the first line (ud32 -U sa), writing to the process in java
    is not working. Atleast thats what I am thinking.

  • How to execute unix command from the Java program running on Windows

    Hello,
    I need to
    1. Execute a unix shell script from a Java program running on the Windows.
    2. I also need to capture the output of this shell script in my program.
    Please suggest me how to achieve this.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi...
    Something is missing here
    If you want to execute a shell script in windows that not posible unless you find or develop a unix shell script parser for windows.
    But if you are trying the execute a unix shell script on a remote unix computer from your java program running on a windows platform you can do that by logging on to the UNIX terminal which is running on port 23 I think.
    You can test this using telnet tool on windows
    just type on command prompt
    telnet <ip of the unix pc> <port number this case 23>
    you should get the unix terminal. If that works you can do the same through java or you can directly conect to port 23 of that pc using sockets that way your program will be platform independant

  • How can I execute a batch file from my java program

    Hi,
    Can someone help me or direct me to a link,
    How can I execute a DOS batch file from my java program?
    Thanks

    You will need to grab a handle to the process's
    outputstream so u can see its output.The OP didn't mention any output from any batch file;
    nor any input for that
    matter,so lets not complicate matters here for now
    ok?Actually I think this is essential to see whether it works or not. It's either that or do some manual check to see whether it ran, which is not exactly elegant, and in some cases this may not be easier than simply writing the output stream code, or in fact it may be impossible to check manually.
    I'm sure it wasn't intentional that your post appeared to be bristling with attitude.

  • Compiling Java program from other java program

    Hi,
    How can I compile and capture the compilation result from another java program?
    Thanks

    As if I had seen somewhere a hint about being able to
    programatically compile with the help of the class
    sun/tools/javac/Main found in the tools.jar.I saw that article, too, but when I took a look at the JDK's source code, it became apparent that none of the classes in tools.jar are supported. Your program could break with any new version of the JDK.

  • How to compile and run a .java file from another java program

    hello,
    can any one tell me how to compile and run a *.java* file from another java program which is not in same directory?

    Well a smarter way of implementing this is by using a solution provided by Java Itself.
    If you are using J2SE 6.0+ there is an in built solution provided along with JDK itself and inorder to go ahead with solution the below are set of API which you;d be using it for compiling Java Programs (Files)
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/tools/package-summary.html
    How do i do that ??
    Check out the below articles which would help you of how to do that
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-jcomp/index.html
    http://www.javabeat.net/javabeat/java6/articles/java_6_0_compiler_api_1.php
    http://books.google.com/books?id=WVbpv8SQpkEC&pg=PA155&lpg=PA155&dq=%22javax+tools%22+compiling+java+file&source=web&ots=XOt0siYe-f&sig=HH27ovuwvJgklIf8omTykUmy-eM
    Now once we are done with compilation.In order to run a Specific class all you ought to do is create an object and its specific methods of a specified class included in the CLASSPATH which you can manage it easily by usage little bit reflections.
    Hope that might help :)

  • Execute several UNIX OS commands from inside Java program

    Greetings,
    I would like to be able to execute from a Java program several of the following UNIX commands
    script filename
    cd
    date
    grep
    diff
    I have been able to get a single command to work with
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = rt.exec("dir");
    My goal here is to accomplish a Java program which will use JDBC to access an Oracle database with SQL and then compare the resultant flat file with a diff command in Unix to another delimited file from an Excel spreadsheet. Your input is appreciated.
    Thank you

    I would suggeat to use JDBC to get the data from database and then read your file and then use existing java diff program from following link to find the differences between the files

    I hope this helps

  • How:Execute OS commands from a Java program

    hi,

    thanx

    In the future try searching the forum before posting. Using keywords like "execute os commands" would lead you to several postings on this topic.
    Note the keywords where taken directly from you subject line. With practice you learn which keywords to use to yield the best search results.

    Not quite sure in the case of fortran program, but one thing can be done, call ur fortran program from a batch (.bat file) and call this .bat file from java ;

    p.waitFor();

  • Please help with executing a java program from another java program

    Hi, I have tried to execute a very simple java program which is printed out "Hello world" from another java gui program when the user click on the "START" button. However, I don't receive any print out on the terminal when they click it. These two programs are being developed in Unix environment. Here is the code that I am trying to use.
    Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
    r.exec("java HelloWorld");
    p.s. HelloWorld is java class of the HelloWorld.java

    I think you have to luanch your MS Prompt first before executing the command.

  • Executing a stored procedure from a java program

    Hi.. how can i call a oracle stored procedure from a java

    con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, "stored", "stored");

    cs.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR);

    cs.setInt(4, 0);
    cs.setInt(5, 5);
    ResultSet rs =cs.getResultSet();
    while(rs.next()){
    System.out.println(rs);
    appreciate ur help.
    qs

    I'm no expert on this, but I have a similar call where I fetch
    an Oracle REF CURSOR from a call to a stored function. If you
    fetch the cursor as an Object from your CallableStatement, you
    can then cast it to a ResultSet e.g.
    mystatement.executeUpdate();
    ResultSet rs = (ResultSet) mystatement.getObject(1);
    Then you should be able to loop through your ResultSet as usual.
    Good luck!

  • How to execute dos command in Java program?

    In Perl, it has System(command) to call dos command.
    Does java have this thing?
    or any other way to execute dos command in java program?
    Because i must call javacto compile a file when the user inputed a java file name.

    Look in the Runtime class, it is implemented using the Singleton design pattern so you have to use the static method getRuntime to get its only instance, on that instance you can invoke methods like
    exec(String command) that will execute that command in a dos shell.
