Execute Javascript  on load in OBIEE 11g

Hi ,
Is there any way where we can call javascript function as and when a page loads for all the dashboards without creating a text object in all the pages?
Edited by: 938795 on Jun 13, 2012 7:37 AM

If you didnt get any response, I would suggest to do this;
1) Take any simple report on 10g
2) Create it manually on 11g without javascript
2) Make sure Presentation variable is working, or getting values from prompt
3) Try to add manually javascript code as in 10g
4) Make sure its works as in 10g
5) Get the xml code for the new report using catalog manager
6) Get the xml code for the old or upgraded report using catalog manager
7) Compare the xml code
This might give you some directions
If make sense mark :)

  • Issues with integrating Java script functions in OBIEE 11G

    Hello experts..
    I am trying to integrate some Javascript functions in my OBIEE 11G Dashboard..
    I have modified the original common.js file and renamed it as insight_common.js in the following directory (backed up the original file of course)
    OBIEE 11G Folder/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/analytics_11.1.1/7dezjl/war/res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js
    In my dashboard, I have a dashboard object as text component where I have checked 'Contains HTML Markup'. I have written the following code:
    hello
    <script src="/res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    sayHi();
    </script>
    However, when I launch the dashboard, it is not working.
    In the Google Chrome browser as I inspected the element to investigate the reason, I am getting the following error under 'console'
    Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://localhost/res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js
    Uncaught ReferenceError: sayHi is not defined saw.dll:611
    It seems that OBIEE is not recognizing the new file that I made..
    Is there a way around this?
    Thanks

    Srini
    I don't have backgrounds in coding, so a lot of what I wrote came from my own researching...
    Now I have tried your latest suggestions again as the below:
    1.<script type="text/javascript" src="res/b_mozilla/insight_common.js">
    sayHi();
    </script>
    and
    2.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="res/test.js"></script> ----- in my case: <script type="text/javascript" src="res/b_mozilla/is_common,js"></script>
    Now both codes this time do not yield any outputs when launching the dashboard. The section is blank and the preview of the Text section in the dashboard is blank as well..
    So, are you sure these are all the steps I need to take to call javascript function in OBIEE?
    Do I need to define anything in weblogic or other places?
    I hope I am not missing any steps..
    Thanks and let me know..

  • OBIEE 11g: Dashboard not invoking simple javascript alert

    Hi Experts,
    I'm trying to invoke one simple ALERT command with javascript in obiee 11g dashboard. The purpose is when it loads, it should print one ALERT message and also when we change something in the prompt and clicking Apply button.
    Here is code written in a text item (Checked html markup option) after prompts;
    <script language="Javascript">
    alert ("Hello");
    </script>
    The Javascript alert message is showing when the dashboard page loads, but its not coming when we click the Apply button after changing the prompts.
    Can anyone give helpful hint, how to check it and why its not showing up when we press Apply button?
    Any hint or some useful links will b highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    You just used code and I would say the default event is onload of the page, thats the reason you are able to see alert.
    Since you didnt ask or written code onClick event to show alert, its not showing.
    You need to tell to browser when to prompt alert message instead of onload.
    Hope you are more confuse about 'how to do'
    if yes, mark :)
    give some more info about your actual req. that helps any other gurus to help.

  • "execute direct database request" option is not availavle in my OBIEE 11g

    Hi All Experts,
    In my OBIEE-11g there is no option available of "execute direct database request" in subject area pane.Please give the solution.
    Thanks In Advance

    By default, this privilege is only assigned to BI Administrator Role. I'm sure you are not under BI Administrator Role and that's the reason you can't find DDR option. Ask, you Administrator to provide your application role access to 'Execute Direct Database Analysis' & 'Edit Direct Database Analysis' under Manage Privileges > Answers.
    Try using DDR very carefully...You shud understand its pros and cons

  • Execute javascript on page loading?

    i want a javascript function to execute on page loading. it should set the local user name ( from system.properties) in an inputtext.
    how can i do this?

    You can't. It would be a huge security hole otherwise.
    In a certain web browser developed by some team in Redmond you can use ActiveX, but that thing would by default popup a security dialogue asking the user for permission to get it.
    Forget about it. Rather consider an application which runs at the client machine, e.g. a signed Applet or Web Start Application.

  • Is it possible to execute OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0) Agents externally?

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to execute OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0) Agents externally i.e. using a dabase or shell script?
    I have created an agent and scheduled it to execute a dashboard. But I would like to execute this agent once dataloading is completed, not at fixed hour.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You can execute OBIEE 11g agents externally via ODI 11g:
    "...2. Use BI EE Web Services and call ExecuteIbotNow method in the iBotService – This method will be called directly from ODI 11g..."
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2012/01/bi-ee-11-1-1-5-calling-bi-ee-11g-agents-through-oracle-data-integrator-11g/
    and with command saschinvoke :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12096_01/books/AnySched/AnySched_JobMgrCfg14.html
    I hop those are helpful enough...

  • Javascript in 'Execute when page loads', not working when paging results grid

    I have some Javascript in an Apex page, running in 'Execute when page loads'. It does some stuff to a results grid. It works fine on page load, but then doesn't run when I page through, or sort the grid. I presume this is because the grid is being sorted / paged using Ajax, which means the page isn't being fully loaded.
    Is there anywhere else I can put the code so it gets applied to the grid on sorts and paging?

    Thanks, works perfectly! I used the After Refresh and just selected the region I wanted to trigger the Javascript, and it works great. As you say the scope needs to be Dynamic.
    For anyone else reading this, something which caught me out was that my reports region was using the No Template setting, and the Dynamic Action didn't work, as it requires you to use a template which contains #REGION_STATIC_ID# - which is used by the dynamic action to identify the region. Once I switched to using a template, it worked fine.

  • Sorting of user list in 'ACT AS' by displayname -OBIEE 11G

    Hi,
    I have configured 'ACT AS' successfuly in obiee 11g . We have written the following query to populate user name and displayname in the act as drop down .
    <getValues>EXECUTE PHYSICAL CONNECTION POOL DAA2.DAA2 select USERNAME, DISPLAYNAME from SIEBEL_USERS </getValues>
    With this query the list is getting ssorted by USERNAME .
    However, our client expects the user list to be populated in the ascending order of the DISPLAYNAME.
    I tried modifying the above query as below in the xml file to implement the same .
    <getValues>EXECUTE PHYSICAL CONNECTION POOL DAA2.DAA2 select USERNAME, DISPLAYNAME from SIEBEL_USERS Order by 2 desc </getValues>
    But the liste is still getting sorted by USERNAME. Could anyone give some pointers to achieve this requirement ?
    Regards,
    Karan

    Thanks Veeravalli, I did exactly the same. Editing the registry didn't help so I deleted the service from registry and create it again and before that added the following in my installSVC file in the section you mentioned
    set JAVA_VM=-server
    set MEM_ARGS==-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=2048m -XX:-UseSSE42Intrinsics
    But it is still not working, I am getting the same error but now it says

    one of the things I didn't mention though was that when I create the service, I run the installAdmServer_Service.cmd file as "Run as Administrator", only then the service gets installed. Can this be related to the fact that this windows service needs to be run under admin account? or Run as Administrator? I am guessing because I tried various heap sizes and also edited my setDomainEnv.cmd and commEnv.cmd file to use 1024 as heap size it but still didn't work and it is failing may be while loading the class? If that is the case then how to run this services as administrator? Am I missing anything else?

  • OBIEE 11g installation error while configuring (opmnctl error)

    While installing OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3.0),(32-bit) we have choosen software only install and the software was installed successfully. While configuring in 10 th step we are getting the following errors.
    We have installed webserver before installing OBIEE 11g.
    OS is Windows server 2008
    Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 falied and
    Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1.
    we are using dynamic IP address

    Thanks, It worked. I unzipped all the folders in a single folder and then with the single Setup.exe it automatically loaded the complete software.
    Best Way - Import all the download file into a single folder and run the .exe
    Thanks,

  • Problem with dashboard prompt initial value (OBIEE 11g)

    Hi alli,
    I have a problem with dashboard prompt and session variable in OBIEE 11g.
    I have declared a session non-system variable which I set/change with dashboard prompt. At login the variable is initialized in initialization block that gets a value from an SQL select statement.
    When I change the value in prompt, the session variable changes accordingly, as it should (change is made by calling function NQSSetSessionValue() within javascript function). While I am in my dashboard, cruising around pages the variable stays the same, and when I return to the page that has prompt on it, the correct value is shown. Everything works fine.
    The problem occures when I go to Catalog (in presentation services) to create some new Answers. When I return back to the same page in dashboard (which has a prompt), the prompt selected value and session variable are set back to the default value. It looks like the initialization block is executed again.
    My prompt is configured like this:
    - Choice List Values: SQL Results
    - Default selection: Variable Expression (@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.VariableName']} )
    - Set a variable: Presentation Variable
    Is there a way to stop the initialization block from executing again? Isn't it logical that the initialization block executes only at login, when the session variable is empty? I don't need it to execute every time i come to the dashboard.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marko

    How and where do you use the nqssetvalue() function.
    I tried it in several places but it doesn't work.
    Can you help me, please!

  • OBIEE 11g installation got struck in "Configuration Process"

    Hi
    I am trying to instal OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.5.0 on Win 7 computer on MS Sql server Express.
    Every went smooth with RCU, and OBIEE 11g installation upto step 12.
    Now in Step 13, 'Configuration Process', the installer got struck forever showing:
    BI Configuration -> 0%
    Creating Domain -> In Progress
    and rest of all the items in 'Recommended' status.
    How can I make this move forward?
    I see no activity going on in logs etc. Looks like installer got struck 'creating domain' activity forever.

  • OBIEE 11g - Integrating via external corporate website to OBIEE

    Hi all -
    Unusual challenge, our we offer a hosted application (SaaS) where our users are authenticated on our application. Recently, we've invested in OBIEE 11g and have successfully deployed recommended Oracle Enterprise Deployment. We have a custom security solution (user permissions in Oracle tables, not LDAP), and have not implemented Oracle Identity Mgmt and don't plan to.
    We would like to use GoURL / Action Framework to access Report content, dashboard content, content as port lets embedded in an app dashboard to an iFrame.
    My Question: can we configure OBIEE to accept just "username" without password in a trusted login scenario? we are trying not to expose password in URL (encrypted or clear text).
    We done an exhaustive search to review GoUrl, web service / soap calls, reviewing impersonator passcode techniques (everyone having same pad in initialization block), etc.
    Thank you in advance for your most needed responses,

    There is a good post that lead me on the way to solving this problem here:
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2010/07/obiee-remove-whole-portalbanner.html
    The code he posts won't work for 11g, but it's close.
    Paste this code into a text box on each page of your dashboard, make sure you check the box that says "contains HTML"
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var tds = document.getElementsByTagName('table');
    for (var td = 0; td < tds.length; td++) {
    if (tds[td].className != 'HeaderTopBar' && tds[td].className != 'HeaderSecondBar' ) {
    continue;
    if (tds[td].className == 'HeaderTopBar') {
    //alert (tds[td].className);
    var x = tds[td].parentNode;
    //alert (x.className);
    x.removeChild(tds[td]);}
    if (tds[td].className == 'HeaderSecondBar') {
    //alert (tds[td].className);
    var x = tds[td].parentNode;
    //alert (x.className);
    x.removeChild(tds[td]);}
    </script>

  • OBIEE 11G - Unable to login to presentation services

    Hi All,
    I have done a simple installation of OBIEE 11G on my coloud server with OS windows server 2003, SP2 , 32 bit.
    Installation is 88% completed with,
    Executing : opmnctl start coreapplication_obiccs1 and Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 failed. Came to know that this is related to clusters and ignored the error.
    RCU is installed in different database server.
    Now i am trying to login to presentation services with weblogic as userid and password that i had given during installation of obi.
    I am getting error that userid or password is invalid...
    One thing i came to know from the thread OBIEE 11g Cluster Controller Failed to start is,
    i have a bad IP in /etc/hosts... below are the entries in the file... can anyone please tell me what necessary changes i should do?
    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    # For example:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    127.0.0.1 localhost

  • OBIEE 11g Unable to browse multiple value hierarchy for analysis.

    Hi All,
    We are using OBIEE 11g Value Hierarchy feature to display GL Segment Hierarchies.
    -     We have set the hierarchies to be Ragged and Skipped Levels in the RPD Business Model.
    -     We have dragged the hierarchies from Business Model to Presentation Layer.
    -     When selecting the hierarchies during Analysis, the first hierarchy that is browsed appears correctly. The next hierarchy when browsed just hangs.
    For example:
    Step 1: Browse Hierarchy1 (Block). The values show correctly.
    Step 2: Browse Hierarchy2 (Account). The hierarchy does not open with a blinking circle remaining forever.
    Alternatively;
    If we selected, Hierarchy 2(Account) first, the hierarchy shows correctly, but when selecting Hierarchy1 (Block) a blinking circle appears and remains for ever without opening the hierarchy.
    The nqquery.log shows correct result. My suspicion is that the issue is on the front end presentation services/javascript side.
    Is there any additional setup/configuration required to open multiple value hierarchies during analysis.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sasi

    I have a pretty good guess at the hanging problem, unforntunitly i have no solutions yet.
    I having same type of issue, hangs when building filters on for 2nd or 3rd dim table.. I can see obiee fireing off the query to populate the dropdown by running
    select distinct on and joining to the fact table and dimensions that the users usually have selecte prior to start creatinng the filters.
    It is sort of like doing a intra dimension filter.. Sounds good but if user does not cut way down on number of fact rows by the time 2nd filtered column is selected the generated query to populate the drop down can run and run.
    OBI SE Once and discoverer dd not do this, at least not out of the box.
