Executing a jar file from an arbitrary folder
I got a small problem in detemining the path of my application's jar file. I am starting the application by executing a batch, lets say MyApp.bat (using it on windows and unix), this batch file consists of one line 'java -jar MyApp.jar', MyApp.jar being in the same folder.
Now lets say MyApp.bat and MyApp.jar are in folder 'A' and my current working directory is a parallel folder 'B', so I can invoke the batch file from there(!) by executing '../A/MyApp.bat'. But now the VM tries to find MyApp in the current working directory which is still 'B' and not 'A'. A simple solution would be to use a script which determines the directory of MyApp.jar and include the generated path in the call to the VM (I didn't try yet, but I guess this will awkward doing it on windows)
Since I don't think I am the first person executing a java program via a script from an arbitrary folder in a file system, I hoped that there might be a more elegant way. Unfortunately I couldn't find another solution yet.
Regards,
Stefan
In MyApp.bat your line should read (NT/2K/XP/2003/Vista):java -jar "%~dp0MyApp.jar"Regards

Moving all jar files from our applcation to applib folder on server
Hi,
In our project we have three web applications bundled into a EAR file,to reduce the upload size we had a plan of moving all the jar files from WEB-INF/lib to the applib folder in the standalone server, but after moving i tried to run the application I get the following error, can someone help on this?

appears that it cannot find teh tag library. However, I think the right way of sharing libraries is to read into the topic of shared library support of the server you are working with

If someone has the key, please tell me.
ThanksAdd the jar file that contains the missing class to your CLASSPATH (note upper case variable name.) The ClassNotFoundException tells you the name of the missing class; try to guess where the class is located - if it is a JDBC driver, it is in the JDBC driver's jar.

Executing .jar files from another .jar file.
How would I run one .jar file from another .jar file. and is there anyway to call specific class arguments? Because I have one .jar file that reads a specified file and returns its contents.
So how would I execute it and specify its arguments and how would I make it return something to the executing jar file?Because I have one .jar file that reads
a specified file and returns its contents. Presumably you have a class that does that, and you have that class stored in a jar. And you want to know how to... um... do something with that class. I say "um..." because normally you don't execute a class, either, you either call its static methods or you create an instance of the class and call its instance methods.
If you have been writing a whole lot of little classes each of which just has a static main method, then stop doing that. Write real Java classes instead. The tutorial is here:

How to execute a jar file in other machine?
Hi all,
I am working with java. and my machine is connected to LAN.I would like to execute a jar file in my machine from a remote machine that is also connected to LAN.how should i go about doing this.Help me if somebody have a solution as i am badly in need of this.
Regards,
MohanHi Mohan.tkm,
If you want it to be done in pure Java and independently of the OS of both computers, you may build a RMI server that will launch your JAR by request of a remote RMI client.
There's an example of RMI here . -
Reading Files from client directory folder using servlets or struts.
HI All,
Could you please help me out int the below query.
I want read all files from paricular directory folder from the client machine in web application. I am able to do it from my local machine. but when I am try to do it from some other machine I am not able to get the file list.
It is very urgent ..please hep me ASAP.It should be problem with the file permissions in your client machine ???Hardly.
@OP: a servlet executes at the server. It doesn't haved any access whatsoever to the client machine. -

May i presume that your cluster is configured on a shared file system?.
I have seen this problem only if you cluster is configured on different machines
and if the directory structure is not identical.
let us know..

Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line
I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Has anybody seen this before, and if so how can I fix it?:
*** Fallback to Prism SW pipeline

If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:
>
Manifest-Version: 1.0
JavaFX-Version: 2.0
implementation-vendor: Oracle
implementation-title: BrickBreaker
implementation-version: 1.0
JavaFX-Application-Class: brickbreaker.Main
Created-By: JavaFX Packager
Main-Class: com/javafx/main/Main

In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur. -
HT203200 Cannot delete the file from the itunes folder
I cannont delete the file from the itunes folder because it tells me I need permission to do so. I am the admin person for the laptop plus I have checked my permissions under the security tab in the files properties. How do I delete this file to start again? It downloaded 1.2GB of the file before the error message appeared, so its paid for and all but not looking like I'll get to watch it before the time runs out on the movie being available for me to watch. :-(
Try deleting the file without iTunes running.
When you next open iTunes it should then be marked as a missing file and you should be able to delete the entry from iTunes.
Hope this works

I cannot delete a file from the documents folder. I can move it to the trash and then empty it, but when I go back to the documents folder, the file is still there.
Gay,
I wonder what your computing environment is. Is your account being administrated by another account? Are you working in an account subject to "Parental Controls"?

How to upload a text file from a shared folder and provide an o/p
how to upload a text file from a shared folder and provide an o/p containing the details in each order in the text file
Hi,
Use <b>GUI_UPLOAD</b> to upload a text file from a shared folder.
Use <b>GUI_DOWNLOAD</b> to download data in a file on the presentation server or use <b>OPEN DATASET, TRANSFER</b> and <b>CLOSE DATASET</b> statements to download data to the application server.
Now, I hope the code for data fetching, if required, is already present in the report.
Reward points if the answer is helpful.

Mukul
