Executing a main class automatically from windows

Hello, I was thinking in a way I could have a java class with a main method inside a pen-drive, then another stuff in windows to recognize when the pen-drive is connected to the usb port and execute automatically the main class inside the pen-drive. What shoud I study in order to do that?
Thanks

You should learn how to write the "autorun.inf" files
see in a CD which has a autorun in it you will find a file with above name
It works for many forms of drives, Eventthough i havent tried I think it should work for flash drives as well

  • Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering. Now it does not

    Adobe Flash Player use to execute the main class entry point before rendering the first frame. Now using the latest browsers and Flash Player 11.8 (11.8.800.94, or 11.8.800.97 for Chrome).
    With one of our swf apps, there are visual display objects on the first frame of the timeline. When the main class constructor is executed, those display objects are set to visible = false. So previously those display objects were never displayed because the first frame did not render until after the main class code was ran.
    Now when we browse to the our website, we find that those display objects are visible for a split moment of time (such as a quarter of a second).
    It appears that this may be a bug. We are wondering this could be new behavior based on loading/unloading the swf to optimize CPU usage and that Flash Player is taking a snapshot of the internal state of the first frame and displaying the cached snapshot before it actually loads.
    So...Chris (or other Adobe representative), is Flash Player supposed to be rendering the display before any code executes it runs the main class?

    Not that I'm aware of.  If this is something that just started with 11.8, then we could be running into some sort of bug injection.  Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  When adding the bug, please include sample code, application or URL so we can quickly test this out internally.  If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
    Once added, please post back with the bug number and we'll investigate from there.

  • Can't execute a main class with jar file loaded on command line

    Hello Guys,
    I try to use the following command to execute a main metod from msword class.
    java -cp f60all.jar:jacob.jar msword
    and i receive:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: msword
    If i extract the 2 jar files then i can execute the main metod:
    java msword
    Can anyone explainme whet is happening ?
    Thanks,
    /Marian

    Hi!
    You need to include the directory where your class is in your classpath... you can use for this the "."
    So, you should write something like
    java -cp .;f60all.jar;jacob.jar msword
    and this supposing that "f60all.jar", "jacob.jar" and "msword.class" are all in the same directory from which you are trying to run the program... in other case write the full paths for the files...
    Bye!

  • Can't run java .class programs from Windows command line!

    I have tried to get a program that I wrote with the JDK to run from the Windows command line, but it is not working. I typed:
    java HelloWorld
    Where my .class was HelloWorld.class, a compiled java program. I spelled the name correctly (and I am in the correct directory), yet I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld
    I think something is screwy with windows, but that's just me. Any ideas??

    Likely a CLASSPATH issue - try
    java -classpath . HelloWorldGood Luck

  • Execute application module method automatically from uix page

    Hi,
    We are developping an application using Jheadstart 10.1.2.2 (build 32) with UIX pages as a view.
    We have build a custom method on our application module class that creates and saves in a directory a chart in function of a parameter we pass to this method.
    We would like to execute this method every time we acces a form page since this pages has to show the chart that our method creates. We would like to know if it is possible to execute this method automatically every time we acces this form page without having to press a button each time.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Xavier

    Xavier,
    I am not sure UIX works as JSPX and JHS 10.1.2 as 10.1.3, but that is what I would do if I wanted to execute a method on page load:
    1. Create a new managed bean(MyBean) in your faces-config which implements oracle.adf.controller.v2.PagePhaseListener interface
    2. Go to the pagedef file of your page, right click it in structure pane and set the controller class to 'MyBean'
    3. in MyBean and in beforePhase() method access App Module and call your function [see 4]. I quote this from ADF Dev.Guide 10.1.3 for how you can get App Module and call your function on it:
    // 1. Access the FacesContext
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    // 2. Create value binding for the #{data} EL expression
    ValueBinding vb = fc.getApplication().createValueBinding("#{data}");
    // 3. Evaluate the value binding, casting the result to BindingContext
    BindingContext bc = (BindingContext)vb.getValue(fc);
    // 4. Find the data control by name from the binding context
    DCDataControl dc = bc.findDataControl("SRServiceDataControl");
    // 5. Access the application module data provider
    ApplicationModule am = (ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    // 6. Cast the ApplicationModule to its client interface
    SRService service = (SRService)am;
    // 7. Call a method on the client interface
    service.doSomethingInteresting();
    4. Check the phase and call your function in beforePhase method of your MyBean (implementing PagePhaseListener)
    public void beforePhase(PagePhaseEvent event) {
    FacesPageLifecycleContext ctx =(FacesPageLifecycleContext)event.getLifecycleContext();
    if (event.getPhaseId() == MY_DESIRED_PHASE) service.doSomethingInteresting();
    Probably, there is a shortcut to all these, or an alternative approach, which I myself will be happy to know about.

  • Add Cd Covers Automaticly from Windows Folders

    Hello,
    What do I need to do that iTunes automaticly finds and displays the cd cover art from my harddisc? I have already downloaded all cd covers into the directories of the cd albums (there is a cover file called "cover.jpg" in every windows album folder).
    Thx!!
    IBM X40 Thinkpad   Windows XP Pro

    THere is no "Auto" feature. iTunes attaches art work to the songs ID3 tags unlike other programs like WIndows Media player.
    THere are afew ways to add art work to a song in iTunes. One is to rightclick the song, hit "Get Info" select art tab and drag/drop it or hit browse and browse to where it is.
    You can add one "Cover Art" to many tracks on one album at once by highlighting all tracks, then hitting get info and copy paste it there.
    then there are other ways too

  • Run diadem and Script automatically with windows

    It would be possible to give an exe or something like that, with windows and after execute this, DIAdem automatically run and when Diadem opened, run my script also automatically??
    Thank you
    Sara

    Hi Sara,
    You can absolutely run the DIAdem exe automatically from Windows, for example, as a startup executable, Windows Scheduled Task, or batch file.
    Using DIAdem, if you want to automatically run a SCRIPT when the application opens, use the Start Script option under Settings » Options » General » Start Script.
    If you want your users not to see DIAdem executing, there are a couple of approaches you could take, depending on your desired behavior and comfort with programming.  For example, you could:
    Call DIAdem programmatically using ActiveX from another language like LabVIEW and choose to hide the environment when running, or
    Have DIAdem SCRIPT run a SUD dialog that masks the DIAdem screen and reports a simpler version of information updates to your user, or
    Use DIAdem's customization abilities to programmatically hide all Panels and Toolbars, or
    Use your script to programmatically switch the screen mode in DIAdem (try pressing Ctrl+U interactively!) while your script is executing.
    Good luck!

  • Execute jar file: "could not find the main class" program will terminate

    Hey,
    I am new to Java. I have started to make a small java program which supposed to help me at my studies to lean the Dominic Memory System. I have used the latest version of Netbeans 5.5.1 to build my program in. I have two problems which I cannot figure out how to solve, please help me.
    The first problem is that the java script I have made works when I compile it in Netbeans, but when I create a Jar file it does not work. I receive a pop up message in windows ?could not find the main class program will terminate? when I execute the jar file.
    The second problem I have is that I need to compare the strings generated by the "numbers" and "TIP" and if the numbers is not identical the numbers in the ?Center? JPanel should be highlighted as red.
    If anyone would like to clean up the code I would be pleased. I have copied quite a lot from anyone because of my one lack of knowledge.

  • Executing code modules (seperate jars) from main program (main.jar)

    Hi all
    Sorry if i am crossposting, but i dont think that is the case.
    I have a main program ( in a jar ) and some modules to be executed and run in the main program.
    Theese components are packed a module in a single jar, and all theese jars are located in the same folder as the main program.
    The main classes in the module jars implement a interface known to the main tool, so that i can use them.
    My problem are, how to load the modules?
    I know i can use JarFile to get the manifests, and thereby get the name of the main class in each jar (they get obfuscated before launch, so no hardcoding of names).
    But how do i instanciate the mainclasses in the modules from the main tool ?
    hope you can help out.
    -Anders

    You can't. I understand the module approach as many others have similar designs. The first problem is that you need to add all the JARs to your classpath so that these JARs are known during starttime. There is no other solution to this if you don't write your own classloader that fetches classes during runtime and work peacefully with the other classloaders of the VM (it's a pain in the ass!). So, your main application needs to know the JAR files. Then it's a small step to also register the modules that your main app should know. Our approach is to have a small database table that holds the fully referenced class names of the modules that are available and can be used via Class.forName(). With this solution, we just need to stop the main app, copy the new JAR, adjust the classpath to add the new JAR, and restart the main app. After adding the new module names to the config table, the main app automatically uses them. Instead of a database table you can use e.g. a properties file.

  • Running executable JARs from Windows

    Hi!
    I have this executable JAR file with no problems for running it from the Windows console using the "java -jar jarfile" command. But if I double click the same JAR file in Windows explorer I get a "Main class not found" error. Does anyone know what's happening here ?
    Thanks in advance

    I think the following varies somewhat depending on which Windows you are using. On Win 2000 in a Windows folder, select Tools menu, Folder Options and select File Types. Then select JAR and click on Advanced. Under Actions, there select "open" and click on Edit. For the Application, you should see something like "C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1_01\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*

  • How can I assign image file name from Main() class

    I am trying to create library class which will be accessed and used by different applications (with different image files to be assigned). So, what image file to call should be determined by and in the Main class.
    Here is the Main class
    import org.me.lib.MyJNIWindowClass;
    public class Main {
    public Main() {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    MyJNIWindowClass mw = new MyJNIWindowClass();
    mw.s = "clock.gif";
    And here is the library class
    package org.me.lib;
    public class MyJNIWindowClass {
    public String s;
    ImageIcon image = new ImageIcon("C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Desktop/" + s);
    public MyJNIWindowClass() {
    JLabel jl = new JLabel(image);
    JFrame jf = new JFrame();
    jf.add(jl);
    jf.setVisible(true);
    jf.pack();
    I do understand that when I am making reference from main() method to MyJNIWindowClass() s first initialized to null and that is why clock could not be seen but how can I assign image file name from Main() class for library class without creating reference to Main() from MyJNIWindowClass()? As I said, I want this library class being accessed from different applications (means different Main() classes).
    Thank you.

    Your problem is one of timing. Consider this simple example.
    public class Example {
        public String s;
        private String message = "Hello, " + s;
        public String toString() {
            return message;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Example ex = new Example();
            ex.s = "world";
            System.out.println(ex.toString());
    }When this code is executed, the following happens in order:
    1. new Example() is executed, causing an object to constructed. In particular:
    2. field s is given value null (since no value is explicitly assigned.
    3. field message is given value "Hello, null"
    4. Back in method main, field s is now given value "world", but that
    doesn't change message.
    5. Finally, "Hello, null" is output.
    The following fixes the above example:
    public class Example {
        private String message;
        public Example(String name) {
            message = "Hello, " + name;
        public String toString() {
            return message;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Example ex = new Example("world");
            System.out.println(ex.toString());
    }

  • How can i execute Spaces API in java main class?

    Hi
    I am able to execute Spaces API through portal application. However if i try to execute it in java main class, its throwing an exception
    "SEVERE: java.io.FileNotFoundException: .\config\jps-config.xml (The system cannot find the path specified)"
    oracle.wsm.common.sdk.WSMException: WSM-00145 : Keystore location or path can not be null or empty; it must be configured through JPS configuration or policy configuration override.
    How can i set this path, so that i can execute Spaces API from java main class.
    Need this main class to configure in cron job, to schedule a task.
    Regards

    Hi Daniel
    Currently i have implemented create functionality in my portal application using Spaces API, which is working fine. Now the requirement is, i need to implement a "Cron Job" to schedule a task, which will execute to create space(for example once in a week). Cron job will execute only the main method. So I have created java main class, in which I have used Spaces API to perform create space operation. Then it was giving exception.
    Later I understood the reason, as I am executing the Space API with a simple JSE client, its failing since a simple java program has no idea of default-keystore.jks, jps-config.xml, Security Policy. Hence i have included those details in main class. Now I am getting new error,
    SEVERE: WSM-06303 The method "registerListener" was not called with required permission "oracle.wsm.policyaccess"
    For your reference i have attached the code below, please help. How can i use Spaces API in java main method(i mean public static void main(String[] args) by giving all required information.

  • Using main class's methods from a different class in the same file

    Hi guys. Migrating from C++, hit a few snags. Hope someone can furnish a quick word of advice here.
    1. The filename is test.java, so test is the main class. This code and the topic title speak for themselves:
    class SomeClass
         public void SomeMethod()
              System.out.println(test.SomeOperation());
    public class test
         public static void main(String args[])
              SomeClass someObject = new SomeClass();
              someObject.SomeMethod();
         public static String SomeOperation()
              return "SomeThing";
    }The code works fine. What I want to know is, is there some way to use test.SomeOperation() from SomeClass without the test.?
    2. No sense opening a second topic for this, so second question: Similarly, is there a good way to refer to System.out.println without the System.out.? Like the using keyword in C++.
    Thanks.

    pfiinit wrote:

SomeOperation is a static method of the test class, and it's best to call it that way so you know exactly what your code is doing here.
    2. No sense opening a second topic for this, so second question: Similarly, is there a good way to refer to System.out.println without the System.out.? Like the using keyword in C++.Again, you could use static imports, but again, I don't recommend it. Myself, I use Eclipse and set up its template so that when I type sop it automatically spits out System.out.println(). Most decent IDE's have this capability.
    Also, you may wish to look up Java naming conventions, since if you abide by them, it will make it easier for others to understand your code.
    Much luck and welcome to this forum!

    Hi,
    you need to make the necessary changes to the %odi%\bin\odiparams.bat config file, under the "Repository Connection Information" section so that startscen knows how to extract metadata from your repository.
    You apparently have left the default settings to the Hypersonic demo repository. Is that the technology your repository is hosted on?
