Executing BPM's in sequence

Hi Gurus,
Is there a way that we can execute different BPMs in sequence? Like as a workflow. Please input your views.
We have developed different BPMs and need to integrate them together in sequence.
1) We have to make it as a huge BPM with all the steps in it.
2) Having the BPMs execute in sequence. If one BPM fails, the next one should be on hold. This is like a batch schedule.
Thanks
Kalyan

Hi Kalyan,
let us assume that the interaction is going to be synchrounous.
The first step in the individual BPMs would be a receive step(opening a SA bridge)...and the finally after all the processing, close the bridge with a send step(with a success or failure message)....
Now in the master BPM, there would be a synchronous send, which sends out a request and waits for the response....the receiver for the request would be the individual BPM which will send back the response to the master....
now in the master check this individual message whether it is success or failure using a switch step and do the action like wise...
Thanks.

  • Is it possible to call a VI that is inside a LabVIEW executable from a TestStand sequence?

    I have created a custom TestStand operator interface and have modified the default sequential process model to display a UUT information dialog that prompts for more information than just the UUT serial number.  This UUT information dialog is a LabVIEW VI.  To distribute the operator interface, I build it into an executable.  As part of the build process, I make a copy of the UUT information dialog VI (which is part of my operator interface project) and place it in the same folder as the executable.  I have then configured the sequential process model to call the dialog VI from this location.  It would be really nice if I could embed the UUT information dialog VI inside the operator interface executable so that I could distribute just an executable instead of an executable and separate VIs.  Is this possible?  In other words, is it possible to call a VI that is inside a LabVIEW executable from a TestStand sequence just like a standard LabVIEW VI call?

    Ryan,
    The dialog that you've created isn't being directly called by the OI at all and shouldn't need to be included in the same directory as the OI for distribution. Since you are modifying the PreUUT of the default process model, you will give the path to the VI in that step, create a deployment and then manually copy the VI to the directory referenced in the step. The VI is considered a support file for the process model and is not related to the OI at all.

  • How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon

    Dear all,
    I am working with a SAP how to paper, which is called:
    How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon.
    It is working absolutely fine and I am pretty satisfied, but as you probably know "Control the visibility of a button based on the visibility of a related crosstab: the  button just disappears once the related crosstab is not located on the active sheet."
    This means, when I insert different queries in different crosstabs, only one crosstab will have my own created ribbon. Is it also possible to set another specific ribbon with other buttons for another crosstab? Can I change the macro, included in the appendix of the how to paper, regarding this issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards
    Dominik Drebinger

    Hey Martin,
    thanks for your reply, but I solved the problem on my own. Unfortunately my colleague did not see that the crosstabs had to be defined differently.
    Like this:
    Label
    Screentip
    Msolmage name
    Crosstab name
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab1
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab3
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab5
    The macro, provided by the HowTo, is therefore working perfectly fine.
    Thanks though
    Dominik

  • Using DB Adapter to execute a custom SQL sequence

    Hello everyone, First of all happy 2013
    I've done with Jdeveloper using DB Adapter to execute a custom SQL statement, has been very simple, then the code JCA integrate it into OSB OESP PS3, and have successfully deployed, then did a testing from the console of OSB
    "Before Configure a DataSource and a Connection Factory for Db Adapter"
    I have seen that I have a casting error, but do not understand why, is a single number which I hope to run the following code sequence:
    SELECT
    MYSEQUENCE.NEXTVAL@DBLINK_EXAMPLE
    FROM dual

    We have used Provider system. The configurations of provider system seems fine as the same provider system is working for other different bpm webservice.
    Can anyone guess what the issue could be.
    Thanks,
    Shilpa

    Hi,
    The SAP_DEFAULT_PROFILE was not assigned to the BPM Project. Once I assigned this, I was able to successfully execute the BPM Webservice.
    Thanks,
    Shilpa

  • Geeting exception while executing BPM webservice from webdynpro.

    I have created a webservice to start BPM process.
    If I am testing from webservice navigator it works fine and BPM task gets created in my UWL. But when I execute this webservice from webdynpro I get the below error
    Exception on execution of web service with WSDL URL 'http://pepu56:50000/bpm/demosapcom/lngtranslationprocess/StartService?wsdl' with operation 'NewOperation' in interface 'TranslateBPMWSDLFile'
    Please note that : I have deleted the output part from both binding and PortType section of this webservice.

    I was doing a silly mistake. I was not running my webdynpro application from portal. I was running my application through "Deploy new archive and run" option.
    I got this clue to run this app after login into portal from the fact that when I was running webservice from WSNavigator I was prompted to pass user credential to execute this service.  I had not given any authentication option while creating web service, so just guessed if I run it from portal my user credentials might be taken. And it worked for me.
    I really don't know why I was asked for user credentials in WSNavigator and how my user credentils would have taken when I ran this app from portal. But this is how I am not getting this error.

  • How to call / execute BPM process out of portal (Universal Worklist)

    Hi,
    at the moment I try to get fimilar in working with bpm processes. In this regard, I try to execute a process outside the portal.
    I always have to login at the portal, go to the Universal Worklist, refresh the list and execute the previously started process. But in future that would NOT be the prefered way for the user.
    May anybody help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi Martin,
    what do you mean exactly? Do you want to start the workflow without using the portal or do you want to start the different human activities outside the portal?
    If you mean the first one, you can use a webservice to start the process (see Re: Starting a flow through a web service). As such you can start the process from pretty much everything with webaccess.
    For the second one I dont have an answer... You can probably use a different application and check if there are any new tasks via webservice... but thats just a guess

  • Need Information of how to Consume/Execute Planning Function & Planning Sequence in Design Studio

    Dear Colleague,
    We are trying to have a PoC demonstrating BW planning function and Planning sequence in SAP Business Objects Design Studio.
    1. In the process, we have built our own Planning function and Planning sequences in our BW system and they are working as per expectation in the BW system.
    2. We added the Planning function and Planning Sequence on to the Design Studio App.
    But now how to we add these Planning function and Planning sequence on to the Dashboard.
    Is there any container to add these planning objects on to the dashboard.
    Or how to execute or Consume these Planning functions and sequences in Design Studio dashboard.
    And any Document or Information in detail would definitely help a lot.
    Please answer the question underlined.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hi Mustafa,
    Thanks for replying!
    But Since this is an Internal project. We are already using Version 1.3.
    Solving double purpose of evaluating the tool and coming up with the application as well.
    As I said in my previous description, we were able to add Planning Functions and Planning Sequences on to Design Studio using menu options available.
    But not sure of how to consume or execute them in the app. To get the rows of records, change values, Save and Transfer values as we do it with the Planning function with BW backend.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • In TestStand, how can a main sequence be executed while sending RS-232 messages at a fixed periodic rate (e.g. every 500 msec, independent of the steps executing in the main sequence)?

    I am trying to send periodic RS-232 messages (through a DLL function) while a sequence is executing. Does TestStand have periodic timers that can be used to perform periodic tasks independent of other sequences executing?
    Thanks,
    John Merritt

    John -
    In TestStand 2.x, you could have a root sequence launch a subsequence in a new thread. The root sequence call could auto wait for the thread.
    1) The new thread could have a loop structure that contains a label, action, wait and goto step. The action step could send the message.
    or
    2) You could also have a single step loop internally to periodically send the messages, but the step should monitor the execution status for termination, and the step should process messages while waiting inside the step.
    Hope this helps...

  • Error in process chain variant when executing BI IP planning sequence

    Hi All,
    I am trying to execute a planning sequnce as a background job using a process chain. Here one of the variant failed giving an error as : Overflow occurred when calculating <Key figure name> with value  6.5231044352058409E18+.
    I tried executing that process chain variant separately using the ABAP program RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE as a background job, but still its not working.
    At last I tried executing the individual planning step in the planning modeler, but again the same error.
    Earlier such case was resolved by compressing the planning cube requests and executing the failed variant using the ABAP program, but this time even compression is not helping to solve this.
    Can anyone please help on this issue ?

    Hi Andrey,
    This Key figure is created of the data type CURR (Stored as decimal) for Amount type. Now the length of CURR is maintained by SAP as 17 with 2 decimal places, so do you mean that I have to switch to other data type to hold the large value that is getting generated.
    My concern is : the error is coming for just one of the variant of the chain and not for other variants. If it has something to do with the KF data type, then certainly all others variants must have thrown the same error.

  • How to execute contain operation in sequences?

    Hi,I am confused about sequences,it seems java.util.Collection more convenient,so why need sequences.
    and how can I do a contain operation on sequences?if use indexof operator,how to determin object equals?how to implements equals method in javafx object?

    One way to determine whether or not a Sequence contains an element is to implement a Comparator (or have the element implement Comparable) and use the javafx.util.Sequences.binarySearch function.
    I don't have access to a compiler at the moment, but something like this should work:
    import javafx.util.Sequences;
    var strings: String[] = [
            "Hello",
            "World",
            "Goodbye"
    //Sequence needs to be sorted for us to be able to determine whether or not it contains a given string with a binary search. String already implements Comparable, so we do not need to use a comparator.
    strings = Sequences.sort(strings);
    //Now determine whether or not this sequence contains the specified string.
    var containsString: Boolean = (Sequences.binarySearch(strings, "Hello") != -1); //This should return true.I haven't tried overriding equals, but I've overridden toString() just fine, so you can probably do that in a similar way:
    public class MidiInstrument {
        public-init var name: String;
        public-init var bank: Integer;
        public-init var program: Integer;
         * Overrides toString to ensure that the ChoiceBox used to choose an instrument can display this item as a string.
        public override function toString(): String {
            return name;
    }

  • How do you get a station global or any variable to be read across UUTs executing in the parallel Sequence model?

    Dear  Support,
    I have two questions regarding the parallel sequence model:
    I am trying to find a global variable or any variable that can be universally read from any thread / step .   For instance:
    - Parallel sequence Model
    - 2 UUTs
    - The main sequence has 20  steps
    - I am looking for a variable that can be read universally across both UUTs in any step.  I have tried many, even the station global variable - as a Boolean - for "Abort" .  But that did not work either.
    Question TWO:   How can I bring out this universal variable to the UI ?  Can you point me to an example?    Do I use the "Lookup"  ,.  I could not get that to work.  Can I use the "Label"  ?  I could not get that to work neither.
    Thanks! Brad

  • How to send data to labview code at run time while using with (or executing the sequence)the teststand

    Hello
    I am new to the Teststand.
    I am using labview8.0 with teststand 3.1
    I have developed some labview codemodules as vi's without using the teststand utility library pallete
    Now i have to run them in teststand.
    While executing them(as a sequence) in teststand,i need to enter the data to the labview code at run time.For this labview front panel should appear as GUI or popup (while executing).Is it possible to do this without using teststand pallete.
    or i need to change the code with teststand pallete(i think it is difficult now to change the code)
    Plz provide a solution to this problem
    Also one more,how and where to use the 'pass by reference' option
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
    see your other post http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=13914
    Also, you can, specify to display the front panel of your VI when you specify your VI in your sequence file.
    There are examples, for dialog panel using LabVIEW, in the examples folder of TestStand and on the NI Web Site.

  • How can I run a sequence file which is stored as BLOB

    Hallo,
    I' using (or better will use) TestStand 3.1 and a ORACLE database. Is there a way to load and execute sequence files which are not stored on the filesystem but as BLOBs in the ORACLE DB. The choice which sequence has to be executed is done dynamically within a custom built process model. A certain sequencefile should be loaded and started by referencing it not by filename but with the PrimaryKey of the table.
    I don't know if this would be a certain capability implemented in TestStand or in ORACLE. It could be something like mapping a BLOB into the Filesystem and pretend that the file is present on the filesystem, something like that!
    Any ideas are highly appreciated
    Thanks
    Oliver Friedrich

    Oliver -
    TestStand does not have any hooks to allow a test system developer to override the internal searching for a file on disk. The only simple option that I see is to to query the database and download the latest sequences ahead of time. This is similar to a Source Code Control mechanism. Keep in mind that once an execution loads a sequence file, the file is typically not released until the last execution completes so you cannot load an updated copy of the sequence file while executing, especially the client sequence file.
