Executing *.xml files as *.jsp files

Under other web containers this usually takes about 4 lines in a config xml file.
I am still hunting through the online doco
but I was wondering if anyone could point
me to the relevant section quicker ? ...
Basically what I am looking to do is to
tell the server to parse and execute *.xml
files as *.jsp files. It should be a simple
mapping somewhere in the config files.
Thankyou in advance,
Brian.

Chuck,
That isn't quite what I want to achieve. What I have done
elsewhere is place the following servlet mapping in the Web
Container's web.xml file.
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.xml</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
which then causes all *.xml files to be processed as *.jsp files.
Servlet name being the name of the servlet that processes the
JSP files for the web container. Is there an equivalent
thing under BEA ? Does BEA have a servlet which processes
JSP files or does it use something different ?
Cheers,
Brian.

Brian,
You should be able to update the web.xml for this purpose
e.g.
<servlet>
<servlet-name>myFoo</servlet-name>
<jsp-file>SnoopServlet.xml</jsp-file>
</servlet>
See the following URL for a more detailed description

  • How to send XML file into XI using sender HTTP adapter

    I am using HTTP sender adapter to post the XML file into XI. I tried to form the URL by using the following String query , but I am unable to execute file.
    String urlString = "http://<servername:portno>/sap/xi/adapter_plain?namespace=<namespace>&interface=<interface name>&service=<service name>&party=&agency=&scheme=&QOS=BE&sap-user=xiappluser&sap-password=satyam&sap-client=100&sap-language=EN";
    How can I execute xml file by using HTTP sender adapter.
    Any one with better suggestions, about this idea?
    Thanks in advance for all.
    Ram Raj

    Hi
    Just use the following parameter to send xml file using HTTP adapter.
    "http://xiserver:8000/sap/xi/adapter_plain?namespace="senderNamespace"&interface=senderinterface&service=sender service";
    "&party=sender party"&agency=&scheme=&QOS=BE&sap-user=userid &sap-password=password&sap-client=100&sap-language=D";
    with the help of this you are able to point out which interface you would like to use.
    And in payload pass the xml.
    and thats it
    carry on
    Cheers

    i have one folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\org\apache\commons\logging" containing some LogFactory calsses but i dont know where to put this folder so that tomcat can find them.
    please help me..
    i know i may not be clear to u but plz give me some way out i m totally stucked.

    hi,
    thanx for your reply.
    ya i have "commons-logging-1.0.2.jar" file but when i tried to put it with other jar files and set the class path and run the application thru tomcat then it automatically stops the tomact.and when i removed this perticular logging jar file then tomcat works normally but gives the error which i mentioned before.
    i have also tried the second option u suggested, by putting the LogFactory class files in "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\org\apache\commons\logging" but that was not working.shud i set some classpath for them? or shud i have to import these packages........ but when i copied this folder "org" to C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes and in program wrote import org.* then copilation error occured "no such package found.
    what to do now.

  • Writing an XML file from JSP

    Hi
    for some this question will seem to be a stupid, but i am really confused how can i write an XML file from with in JSP code. should i have to use same FileOutPutStream.
    Actually i am trying to make reports using Jasper api. It demands for an XML file which will then b converted into PDF file. Can any one help me in it.

    Jasper converts a JSP into a servlet - and cannot be used to generate PDFs.
    Assuming this is for a web application I would
    1. Generate the XML
    2. Generate the PDF from the XML
    3. Send the PDF to the client from a servlet (i.e. forget the JSP).
    Step 2 is actually quite complicated - you could do this manually with the IText API (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) or use an XSL approach with Apache FOP (http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/)

  • Try to do my first XML Schema in SQL Server 2012 Mangement Studio(SSMS2012)-How to execute the xsd and xml files in SSMS2012?

    Hi all,
    I learmed the basic stuff of XML, DTD, DOM, etc. long time ago. Now, I came back to resume my XML journey and try to learn the XML Schemas, XPath and XQuery. I have Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012) in our computer network. From
    Page 221 of the old Book "Beginning XML 2nd Edition" written by David Hunter, et.al., (published by Wrox), I copied the name5.xsd and name5.xml :

    <schema xmlns=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    targetNamespace="http://www.wrox.com/name" xmlns:target="http://www.wrox.com/name"

    How can I execute these two files in my SSMS2012 for doing my first XML Schema trial?
    Please kindly help, advise and respond.
    Thanks in advance,

    2) I dived in the XQuery programmimng in SSMS2012 in the last few weeks. I used the examles of Ad-Hoc XML File Query by Seth Delconte (in
    httpS://www.simple-talk.com/content/print.aspx?article=1756) in my SSMS2012. They worked. But I don't understand the (i) Importing XML data using a function, (ii) Using the XQuery contans()
    function to find substrings, (iii)Efficiency comparisons in the article.
    Please kindly help me in enlightening me to resolve the difficulties listed in 1) and 2).

  • How to display the data in XML files into JSP using Jdeveloper.

    Hi All,
    I have two XML files one XML file has the view names and the other has the table names of a particular views, how to display the data in JSP using JDeveloper where when i click a particular view the list of tables of that particular view from XML file two should be displayed in JSP Page.
    Are there any reference documents, regarding the above process please can anyone guide through how to do it.

    Let the servlet ask your business tier to provide the data, then stuff it into beans, and pack those into the Session instance. Then forward the request to the JSP, let the JSP get those beans and display them.

  • How to display XML file(as markup) in jsp page..?

    Hi All,
    * I have to display the XML file(as markup) in jsp page (Tree Format)....
    * My XML file is an java.io.file object , and how to view this XML file on my JSP page...........
    Thanks in Advance,
    JavaImran

    You mean you want to see the XML source?
    You need to replace the characters '<' and '&' with corresponding entities '&lt;' and '&amp;'. You can use replaceAll, but do the ampersands first.
    Then I suggest you probably want to put them in a <PRE> block.

  • JSP compiler reading the web.xml file?

    Hi,
              I am trying to use the weblogic JSP compiler (weblogic.jspc) to
              pre-compile some JSP that use custom tags. Does the compiler
              read the web.xml file if there is one? In particular the taglib
              elements in that file so that the compiler understands the
              <%@ taglib ... %> directive.
              In the JSP I try to compile I use this statement to declare a taglib:
              <%@ taglib uri="xyz/xyz-taglib" prefix="xyz" %>
              and in my web.xml I have:
              <taglib>
              <taglib-uri>xyz/xyz-taglib</taglib-uri>
              <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/xyz.tld</taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              When I try to compile the JSP I get the following error:
              Could not parse embedded JSP code: weblogic.utils.ParsingException: nested
              IOException: java.io.IOException: cannot resolve 'xyz/xyz-taglib' into a
              valid tag library.
              Any ideas how I can resolve this?
              In advance thank you for any help.

  • How to display an xml file contents in jsp as tree view

    hi,
    Iam trying to read an xml file and display the structure in jsp as tree view, can any one help me

    Use a [XML or DOM parser|http://java-source.net/open-source/xml-parsers] to read a XML file into a tree structure of Java objects.
    Use the [Collections API|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/collections/index.html] to get hold of the relevant elements in a tree structure.
    Use JSTL´s [c:forEach|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/bnakh.html] tag to iterate over a Collection in JSP.
    Use HTML´s [<ul>/<li>|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/lists.html#h-10.2] or [<dl>/<dt>/<dd>|http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/lists.html#h-10.3] tags to represent a tree in HTML.
