Explain plan when have a View

Hi
I have a query and trying to use INDEX with hint, but I no use when is a view, is there some way for to use it ?
SELECT /*+ INDEX(T1 I0_PS_COMPL_ESTRUT_COMERCIAL)
           INDEX(T2 I0_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL)  */
        T2.CD_TIPO_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL,
        T2.CD_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL,
        T2.CD_GERENCIA_VENDA
FROM  T_PS_COMPL_ESTRUT_COMERCIAL T1,
       T_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL       T2
  WHERE  T1.CD_TIPO_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL = T2.CD_TIPO_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL
  AND   T1.CD_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL = T2.CD_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL
  AND   T2.ID_ESTRUTURA_ATIVA = 1
  AND   T1.ID_PROXIMIDADE = 2
  ORDER BY 3,2
SELECT STATEMENT, GOAL = CHOOSE               74     534     27768     71          1
SORT ORDER BY               74     534     27768     71     SEL$F5BB74E1     1
  HASH JOIN               73     534     27768     71          1
   MAT_VIEW ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID     SISESTAT     M_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL_CAD     69     1685     23590     68     SEL$F5BB74E1     1
    INDEX FULL SCAN     SISESTAT     I0_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIAL     10     3370          10     SEL$F5BB74E1     1
   REMOTE          T_PS_COMPL_ESTRUT_COMERCIAL     3     1069     40622     3     SEL$F5BB74E1     1

Maybe I'm missing something but this:
INDEX FULL SCAN     SISESTAT     I0_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIALindicates that one of those indexes is being used.
This:
T_ESTRUTURA_COMERCIALIs nowhere to be found in your Explain Plan. It appears that either you have posted the wrong plan
or Oracle is doing a query rewrite to a materialized view.

  • Strange explain plan when query SYS tables

    Oracle Version 9.2.0.7
We have an application that runs the following query on Oracle 9.2.0.7
    SELECT T1.TABLE_NAME,T1.COLUMN_NAME, T1.SRID, T2.SDO_UB, T2.SDO_LB, T1.OWNER FROM ALL_SDO_GEOM_METADATA T1, TABLE(T1.DIMINFO) T2 WHERE T1.OWNER=UPPER(:"SYS_B_0") AND T1.TABLE_NAME=UPPER(:"SYS_B_1")
Without the self join the query is fine, but with the self join on our customers database the explain plan is doing full table scans and Hash Joins on SYS tables and takes 2 minutes.

Statistics have been gathered for the MDSYS user.
If this had not been SYS schema I would have immediately concluded that fresh statistics are required. The SYS objects concerend are valid with all indexes
From my understanding you are not meant to gather stats for the SYS schema in Oracle 9 as Data Dictionary queries still uses RBO?
Any ideas as to why Oracle is doing full table scans when querying SYS tables? The optimizer_mode is set to FIRST_ROWS.
    Any ideas greatly recevied.
    Thanks

  • SQLDeveloper can't generate an explain-plan when using "cube"

If I want to create an explain-plan from the following statement, I get no explain-plan:
    SELECT 1
    FROM   dual
    GROUP BY CUBE( 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 )If I now want to create an explain-plan again, I get the following message (and still no explain-plan):
    http://i.imgur.com/mGO6Z.jpg
I tried this a few times and of course with a fresh db-session where i didn't run any statements before.
    I get this with:
    SQLDeveloper Version 3.0.04 Build MAIN-04.34 (i.e. production)
    DB 9.2.0.1.0
    Oracle Instant Client 11.1.0.6.0
    In Toad this works btw.
(Of course it makes no sense to run it on this statement, we encountered this problem with a really big SQL-statement where "cube" was used in an inline-view. SQLDeveloper then wasn't able to generate an explain-plan for the whole-statement)

that is correct.  I wanted to keep the login page redirect inside my class method so that I could do the check every time someone came to pages that require authentication. I wanted it in the LoadState method so I can do a check there, redirect
them to login page or just get a cookie and then pass that cookie to page to build the UI for the page
I can do what you are suggesting and have actually tried it but then I have to track which page to take the user to after they log in...
I have multiple clicks in the appbar  and pages from where the user can come to these authentication-bound pages..
    Suggestions?
Also, what am I doing wrong in my class method that it doesn't navigate to the login page in the LoadState method?
    Thanks

  • How does SQL Developer run EXPLAIN PLAN?

    Hello,
I noticed that SQL Developer can do an EXPLAIN PLAN even though I don't have a PLAN_TABLE available for the user that I use to connect in SQL Developer.
I was always wondering whether there was a way to do an EXPLAIN PLAN without a PLAN_TABLE, apparently this seems to be possible.
    Thomas

If I try an explain plan when I do not have a plan table available, I get the message "A PLAN_TABLE is required to access the explain plan, but it does not exist. Do you want to create a PLAN_TABLE?". Unfortunately, as that user does not have create table privs, if I say Yes I get the following error "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges".
Given this, if you are doing an explain plan, you either have access to a plan table or you have create table privs and SQL Developer has created the plan table for you.

  • Explain plan for MVIEW....

    Hi All,
please tell me how to invoke EXPLAIN PLAN for CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW.
while i am trying to get plan i am getting following error
    ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for reply.
I need it for estimation and solution design. so all
parameters are necessary. second thing is DDL and
simple SELECT statements plan are differ. I can get
explain plan for CREATE TABLE AS SELECT but not for
    CREATE MV.
    Regards,
Santosh. In case you didn't notice: Create table as select (CTAS) is also DDL.
There is nothing additionally from point of the execution plan that is added by the CREATE MV command.

  • Verbose EXPLAIN PLAN output when asking for explain plan on simple SQL

Hello. In a nutshell I have two issues: first, inability to execute EXPLAIN PLAN via SET AUTOTRACE ON EXPLAIN, and second, extremely verbose output when I log on as SYSDBA to circumvent the first issue.
    So, issue number one:
I am trying to get an EXPLAIN PLAN via SET AUTOTRACE ON EXPLAIN for a simple SQL query:
      1   select decode(rownum,1,'JAN', 2,'FEB',3,'MAR',4,'APR',5,'MAY',6,'JUN',7,'JUL',8,'AUG',9,'SEP',10,'OCT',11,'NOV',12,'DEC')

    Welcome to the forum!
Whenever you post please provide your 4 digit Oracle Version (result of SELECT * FROM V$VERSION).

So, first question, why am I getting this error? ALL_OBJECTS should be available to everybody, no?
    >
Your user probably does have access to ALL_OBJECTS. But you need to have dba privileges to access views base objects.
The "ORA-01039: insufficient privileges on underlying objects of the view" message is telling you that the user does not have privileges to access the BASE OBJECTS that used to build the view. Access to those base objects is necessary to generate the plan you are trying to see.
So to circumvent this I log on as sysdba and get the second issue: the following extremely verbose output
    >
And that is because sysdba DOES have access to the base objects of the view. You asked for a plan and you got it. That verbose output IS the plan and all of those oddly named tables are being accessed to satisfy your query so are included in the plan.
Do your query using DUAL or the SCOTT.EMP table and you won't get the error.

  • Failed on Viewing an Explain Plan

I have some error while trying to show the query tree plan.
After I entered SQL commands and I click 'explain', it didn't show anything.
There suppose to be showing some kind of query tree right?
But it just a blank space.
Am I doing it wrong? Or there is some adjustment that I have to do before?

  • Sub Partitioning does not have considerable impact Explain Plan

    Hi Guys,
I have a table that is list - list sub partitioned on Oracle 11g - 11.2.0.3.
The first partition is on the CIRCLE_ID column and the second sub partition is on the LOAD_DTTM.
Now i have tried 2 queries on the database
    1 - select MOBILENUMBER, CLOSING_BAL from GSM_PRR_SUM a1
    where A1.CIRCLE_ID ='AK'
    AND a1.LOAD_DTTM BETWEEN '28-MAR-2012' AND '03-APR-2012';
    2 - select MOBILENUMBER, CLOSING_BAL from GSM_PRR_SUM a1
    where A1.CIRCLE_ID ='AK'
    AND to_char(a1.LOAD_DTTM) like '%MAR%'
Ideally the 2nd query should take a much higher time than the first query.
But the explain plan shows a difference of less than 1%.
Can you pls provide some insights as why Oracle is not understanding that subpartitioning will be faster?
    Thanks,
    Manish

    Hi Dom
    Thanks for your reply.
Is the first query using partition pruning? - Yes
Have you gathered stats, etc, etc? - No. All our queries always need to access the entire table and not a particular subset and the where criteria always uses partition and sub partition columns. so we dont see the need to collect stats. Can you pls advise what stats need to be collected and what will be the advantage of those?

  • Invalid column name when executing explain plan

SQL Developer version 4.0, SQL Worksheet, Windows 2000, Database 9.2.0.6.
When attempted to run a explain plan on a simple two table join query, it generates error invalid column name. Removed aliases and simplify query to one table row count, and still get the same error. Even tried the schema owner and got the same error.
I decided to check the explain plan table and found out that it was from an older version. Recreated the explain plan table and was able to run the explain plan.
I'm just posting this in the event somebody else runs into the same problem.

This was fixed in the 4.1 or 1215 build. Please update by downloading or check for updates.

  • Explain Plan for Materialized Views in 10g

I am verifying explain plan for few queries on 10g as compared to 9i I was wondering in Materialized Views queries MAT_VIEW ACCESS instead of TABLE ACCESS is it expected behaviour or am missing something?
Couldn't find information in 10g documentation
    thanks in advance

I've put together a query for the v$sql_plan in 9iR2.
Depending on what you use, you can probably drop some columns (eg OTHER and partition columns) and you could drive it from the v$session by getting the hash_value from there for the sid you are interested in :
    (select * from v$sql_plan where hash_value =
    (select sql_hash_value from v$session where sid=:sid))
    select level, optimizer, lpad('_',1*(level-1),'_')||operation operation,
    options, object_owner||'.'||object_name obj_name, search_columns,
    ltrim(to_char(cardinality,'999,999,999')) no_rows,
    ltrim(to_char(bytes/1024,'999,999')) kbytes, cost tot_cost,
    object_node link, id, parent_id, other_tag||':'||other other,
    partition_start, partition_stop, cpu_cost, io_cost,
    access_predicates, filter_predicates,
    round(temp_space/(1024*1024),2) temp_space_mb
    from (select * from v$sql_plan where hash_value = :hash_val)
    start with id=0
    connect by prior id = parent_id and prior child_number = child_number
    order by child_number, id, position;

  • ORA-01745 when running Explain Plan

    Hello everybody,
I would like to know what is the best way to report a bug. In fact I believe just found one and I would like it fixed. I am using the latest version of SQLDeveloper on WinXP that uses its own JDK.
To replicate the bug it's very easy, just try to do an explain plan of the following query:
    SELECT * FROM scott.emp
where empno = &&emp_nr;and the "*ORA-01745: invalid host/bind variable name*" error appears. Since the query executes properly, but the Explain plan errors out, I believe this could be a bug.
    Thanks,
    Paolo

    Gary,
thanks a lot for your feedback.
I have found this weird behaviour, because I was trying to avoid another one. In fact I tried using the substitution variable syntax instead of the bind variable syntax in SQLDeveloper, especially to avoid the issues coming from automatic data conversions.
For example, if I run the following query using the bind variable syntax (passing SYSDATE as the parameter value):
    SELECT *
       FROM scott.emp
      WHERE hiredate BETWEEN TRUNC(:p_eff_date,'yyyy')
AND TRUNC(add_months(:p_eff_date,12),'yyyy') - 1;it will go in error with "*ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected DATE got NUMBER*", because the filter predicate will be converted automatically as follows:
TRUNC(TO_NUMBER(:P_EFF_DATE),TO_NUMBER('yyyy'))<=TRUNC(ADD_MONTHS(:P_EFF_DATE,12),'fmyyyy')-1This behaviour is visible by running the explain plan on the above query. Isn't that TO_NUMBER(:P_EFF_DATE),TO_NUMBER('yyyy') a little bit too wrong? Note that the second occurrence of the P_EFF_DATE parameter does not get converted. Can't this "automatic conversion" behaviour be disabled somehow?
Due to this weird issue I tried to use the substitution variable syntax, but the main issue with the single ampersand is that you have to enter the value of the parameter as many times as the parameter is referenced in the query and you can imagine that with big queries written by other people this is not so easy.
Is there another way to pass parameters to a query in the SQL Worksheet? How can I "use literals rather than variables" as you suggest? Do you mean NOT using parameters at all?
    Thanks,
    Paolo

I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? Any other advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    20 Year Plus Verizon Client

The only "unlimited" plan I can think of where this would not apply is the old Connect plan for multimedia/basic phones.  That unlimited data, on devices such as the LG Voyager, EnvTouch, and other "multimedia" devices is  not the same.
If you currently have an individual $29.99 unlimited data plan with a 3G Smartphone, then you can buy a BBQ10 retail and activate it with the same data plan and keep the unlimited.
